Atmosphere: Really relaxed vibe. Nice indoor and outdoor seating areas. There is a water refill station by the patio doors. They have an ordering station to place your orders for food/beer. They have a ton of board games to play while you drink or wait for your food. Great place to meet up to wind down. I've been here twice, once for drinks and once for food. Great experiences both times. Service: Friendly and informative. They have a slim team but are incredibly efficient. Food: They pizza is incredible, the crust is untouchable. I ordered the Dirty Martini pizza (they don't have it anymore *cries in salty olive tears*). This pizza is one of a kind. If anyone else had this available in the Fox Valley I would go there every week to get my fix. It's salty, savory, creamy, crunchy and CRAVE-ABLE. We ordered one other pizza on the menu that is a standard offering, The 99 Corvette. This was okay but we both fought over who got more pieces of the Dirty Martini Pizza. Hop Yard has a relaxed, casual atmosphere and seems consciously geared toward the hipster/affluent working professional crowd. Their staff are friendly and seem to enjoy themselves. They do not have physical menus or servers to take people's orders; customers scan a QR code to get the online menu and order at the bar area. I can't speak to the craft beer and wine aspect to the restaurant, but they do offer some delicious craft sodas for people looking for nonalcoholic options. Although they have "normal" woodfire pizza choices (traditional pepperoni, cheese, etc.), the highlight is their rotating menu of inventive specialty savory and dessert pizzas. I found their "normal" pizza to be just ok, but the tomato soup pizza (Souper Slice) was incredibly flavorful and unique! It's definitely worth taking the leap of faith for some of their more out-there sounding pizza options. Since they have limited oven space to cook the pizzas, food can take a while to come out if it's busy. Plan ahead and use that time to relax and enjoy their drinks, or come during an off-peak time for less wait. read more

We tried this place recently for dinner and had a great experience. They have a wide selection of beer. I have never had a New Zealand IPA before, but the one I tried here (Hop-Tickle illusion) was great. The OG, Porkasaurus and The Danny Dorito pizzas were all tasty. 6 slices each, so 3 pizzas and the Italian dunkers were enough for our party of 7. What a great place! I love the vibe and the beer. Came with my family over Thanksgiving weekend and it was great. They don't have table service, which is fine, but just be aware you have to go up to the order area (it's well marked). They have lots of different seating arrangements: booths, high-top tables, large shared tables, etc. I also love that they have board games available to grab, and it also seemed like people brought their own as well. We did not try food, so I can't comment on that, although the pizza smelled delicious! I tried two of their sours, and I liked one of them better than the other. Note that if you get a flight (four tasting sizes) you get a slight discount. It can get a little loud in there because of the slight industrial vibe they have going on. We stopped by one night and it was pretty packed, which made it pretty loud. We left but came back a few days later and it was much better. My wife and I stopped in on the night before Thanksgiving. We travel often and on almost every trip we try to stop at a few local breweries. We ordered two flights, two pizzas and some of the pub mix. The food was a mixed bag. The pub mix was very good and the pepperoni and sausage pizza was decent. The pizza with pepperoni, ricotta and hot honey was overcooked and the hot honey overwhelmed the other flavors and it was not good. As for the beer, it's middle of the road. The pilsner was solid and a couple of IPAs were ok. I wouldn't seek any of them out at a store or other bar. As for the atmosphere and the building itself, it was pretty busy and extremely loud inside. Our visit was actually pretty decent until someone brought a dog into the taproom. The dog owner sat at the bar and appeared to know some of the staff as well, with some of them petting the dog and then going back to work. Eventually they let the dog run around unleashed, and it ran to almost every table, which is a big problem for anyone with pet allergies, or someone who doesn't want to try to eat with a dog bothering them. When it was evident that there was someone with allergies that the dog approached, the dog owner and staff they were conversing with, brushed it off as no big deal, which was unbelievably inconsiderate. read more

Last night I went out with a couple of coworkers and this was such a unique location, an old auto shop. It was busy and after having their pizza, I can see why. We found a spot at a larger table that had two other couples. Love how laid back the seating was and the convenience to order at the bar. The menu was small but great options and whoever thought of giving only the choice of 10" inch pizzas is a genius. Satisfying enough for one person, but the perfect size to order multiple to share without committing to one flavor. I wasn't a huge a huge fan of the Limeade Seltzer, but the food and atmosphere easily made up for the experience! read more

A friend and I went there to try out the newest brewery around. Staff and owners were on site and on point despite how busy they were. We ordered a pizza and it was as good as anything you will find anywhere. Seriously, try the pizza if the oven is on, you won't be disappointed. Since that first time I have been there twice. I was able to try several very good brews and most were "do agains". I have met several brewery owners, and this place has the best. Personable, chatty and friendly.
