I think we're all ready for the new Publix to be built. The staff here is always really wonderful and in great moods. The parking is terrible here and it got worse with the construction. They don't have self checkout at this location and that causes really long lines at peak times. The deli here is always great and the store is generally very clean. The inventory for BOGO often runs low early in the ad cycle. read more

This Publix is still not good. And today was no better. The layout is wrong (Palmetto Pavilion has it right) and when I stop in after my West Ashley Wednesday morning meeting, it's always under staffed. They don't offer self checkout, and they have multiple 10 item or less lines open. So if I have 15 items like today, I'm stuck behind a lady buying 6 different orders. Time to update my Publix review, since it's one of my favorite grocery chains in the area. Unlike many grocery stores, you don't need a loyalty card to take advantage of deals at Publix. You can't beat the buy one get one free deals, and the subs are also great for lunch. My tip is to order it online and pick it up, because those lines can get long otherwise. This Publix has a pharmacy with a drive-thru, which is something I haven't noticed at other stores. I don't use it, but it's good to know if that's important to you. My only qualm is that the parking lot is terrible. It's hard to navigate, as you're never sure if you're driving the right direction, and there aren't many spots. read more

I usually have a good experience here but not this time! I had a VERY SASSY cashier who was upset I had 13 items in her 10 or less line, and she made it known but saying it THIS IS A TEN OR LESS LINE, then proceeds to shake her head. She was truly disgusted with me! So I was going to gather my things and go to another line but when I looked back the line was too long for me to retreat, so I stayed and dealt with her ATTITUDE. She finished my order with no thank you, nothing. I asked her to double 2 of my bags because I noticed she had packed them heavy, but did she NO! When I got home in my driveway my bag TORE and my salad and watermelon was all over the ground!!!! MONEY WASTED!!!! I WAS SUPER PISSED!!!! I kept saying to myself I knew this was going to happen, but I wanted to trust the process because I had already had enough of Publix for one day! NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER AT ALL!!!!! Publix has been my go to grocery store since I moved to the Charleston area in '08. Living in Mount Pleasant all that time meant Publix stores were plentiful. There's currently three and they're about to open a Greenwise market soon. After moving to Park Circle, this has become my most frequented Publix. It's a similar distance for me to the one on Daniel Island, but I find myself in West Ashley more often for other stuff. This one is laid out differently which I'm still getting used to and I've found that there are a few random items I was able to get at other locations that I haven't found here. All in all, I've found the same level of service I love at other Publix locations so I'll continue going here for my main grocery trips. I do have to say that I despise the parking lot though. There's a lot going on in this plaza which makes it very congested and whoever designed the section outside of Publix needs their head examined. read more

Publix is one of my favorite grocery stores. Their produce is always fresh and delicious. The deli department is a go-to. The customer service is great. The prices are higher than other stores like Walmart and Food Lion but it is worth it. They run 'buy one, get one free' deals all the time. This store is in a good location. read more

Not to cheapen this place at all but it is your somewhat generic Publix. And that to me is a good thing. When you walk in the front door and there are salads and other foodstuffs close to the deli that you can pick up, pay for and out the door you go. Most days, the deli has skinless wings that are wonderful to taste and somehow I convinced myself that the calories are very little without the skin. Nice try but I do try and convince myself. The fried chicken is excellent (skin on of course). It seems like every day that they are preparing foods at a special kiosk there where of course they are trying to sell the ingredients for a particular snack or meal. If you want it organic the GreenWise label that they have is the way to go. Whatever did we do without a Publix in Charleston? read more

I've been a loyal customer for years. But lately I've seen a lot of shoppers with masks not covering nose. I sometimes go up and remind them, then they pull the mask up, but that is NOT MY JOB. But today, it was the EMPLOYEES. One employee was restocking beer, with mask well under nose, talking to customers and all. I walked up and asked him if he was not required to cover his nose as well. He yanked it up and said loudly and a bit sarcastically, "Have a nice day, sir!" I saw him again with mask down, but by then I was dealing with... Employee #2 (name tag said DILLON)) stocking the frozen foods. same thing, I posed the same question and he spun around, pulling mask up. He said it was OK since no one was within 6 feet. I asked him if that was store policy. He said, "Yes." I said I was going to clarify with a manager (and pointed out that *I* had been within 6 feet). I found a manager and told his about the employee, DILLON, both not fully wearing his mask, and lying about store policy. He said he would address it. Harris Teeter, here I come. read more

I'd give 100 stars. They have everything I need no jokes they really do Organics great prices and you can stop and ask anybody anything and they will answer your questions. Sometimes they even ask me If I need anything! Who does that? Publix employees it's kinda pricey but look at what you're getting. Friendly service which is a rarity these days. They will even take your groceries out to the car. Not even Whole Foods has that kind of service. read more

I like this publix but I have to explain why I took a star away. It was my first time there and I was wondering around like a lost dog. I was looking for goat cheese and finally found the cheese area. The manager or someone who worked there that's "higher up" (dirty blonde hair, somewhat handsome, early 40s maybe) was standing in front of the middle area on his phone. I came and stood beside him looking around. I then said excuse me. He took one step to the left while just staring at his phone not giving me any room to look at the other side. I finally said excuse me again and humorously said "I'm not trying to get all creepily close to you I'm just trying to find the goat cheese". He laughed and said "oh you're good" and moved TWO INCHES!! I literally just grabbed the first goat cheese I freaking saw and walked away. Like da hell?? I really like the Publix on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in West Ashley as it is one of my favorite places to get groceries. This location is very convenient from just about anywhere in West Ashley and not too far from Interstate 26 and it is easy to get in and out of with a parking space close to the store usually available to find. This Publix is very well run and managed as everything seems to be clean and well stocked. the staff here makes shopping a pleasure and goes out of their way to make sure that you have exactly what you need and does it with a smile. I have always had a positive experience shopping here and have consistently found what I was looking for and even more. read more

I love Publix, because shopping really is a pleasure. While the prices aren't always the lowest, there are usually lots of great value buys and BOGOs to be found. What I love is that the customer service is always top notch, and the locations usually reflect the community. While I wish there was a Publix in the area that carried more West Indian/African type foods, this location has lots of Kosher foods which is something I haven't really seen since being in South Florida. We came here to get a few things for the beach. Their parking lot is pretty small but not a big deal. The store was organized and clean. After CVS refusing to provide service (a Tdap shot) at its "minute clinic" more than 30 minutes before closing with no customers anywhere nearby, I called Publix Pharmacy in West Ashely and found out they provide Tdap as well as shingles and other shots and that I did not need any appointment. though it was close to closing, I walked in, filled out a short form and in less than 10 minutes was out the door with the needed shot. They were warm, friendly, helpful, efficient and personable. I was treated more like a friend than a customer. My only question is "why didn't I just go to Publix Pharmacy in the first place?!?!" read more

As far as grocery stores go... Publix is my favorite! At this particular location the staff are always available to help and are very friendly. They don't avoid you and turn down another aisle when you look in their general direction. If there is a sale item out of stock on the shelf they will always check the back... so ask! They will also take your groceries to your car and put them in the trunk for you. And they are not allowed to accept tips. The fresh bakery bread is amazing and they will slice it if you prefer. The Mountain white and sourdough breads are my favorites. Their desserts are also really yummy. The personal care area is very well stocked, but as expected more expensive than drugstore and big box stores. Their BOGO specials are awesome and you don't have to buy two items to get the deal, they will just give you half off of one. All in all a great shopping experience! read more

I also appreciate that I don't have to have some type of savings card to get the specials that are in their circulars. I don't know about you, but I am sick of rewards cards. This is a good Publix. The staff is really nice, and they have pretty much anything you would expect in a grocery store. I especially like the fish counter, where I buy salmon at least once a week. My favorite thing about the Publix company is that they don't have any silly rewards program to receive decent prices on anything but house brand stuff. I think they are the only grocery store I know of that just have regular prices. This is not to say that they don't run sales and accept coupons (they do), but I find the non-use of member/rewards programs really refreshing. Good job Publix. Stopped by the bakery and they helped us pick out a vegetable topped cheesy bread. They offered to heat it up and cut it in half so my mom and I could split a snack. We waited 5 minutes while it was popped in the oven and then took our awesome snack to the nearby Northbridge park and enjoyed the view and a delicious snack! Who doesn't love a pub sub?!!! When I go to Publix, I go for the pub sub, manfriend goes for their Publix brand English muffins (yes, this is true. Someone goes to a certain grocery store for English muffins). The pub subs are fantastic. Most employees are nice, but the deli is always, always, always slammed and so sometimes they don't make small talk. The store itself is clean. It's layout is like every other Publix. This is probably my favorite supermarket in town. I always find the staff is helpful, friendly and always going out of their way to make sure I can find what I need. The wine prices seem a bit high compared to other places, but the produce and meats make up for it. One thing to keep in mind is their policy is to never freeze meets. I think that makes a HUGE difference. Also, I've wanted custom cuts in the past and the butcher was always more than glad to help me. Also, talk to the ladies in the deli. If you're hungry and don't want to cook, they'll hook you up. They're honest about quality and even make recommendations of what's good that day. read more

I was in the area so I decided to stop in. Selection of produce and products is good, and the store was very clean. I planned on purchasing a good bit of seafood -- really, I had about $75 worth on my list for my DH's 50th birthday dinner (several courses). I went by the seafood counter, waited... there was no one there. Got my groceries, swung by again... no one there. Got my produce and went for a last time. I waited several minutes and didn't even see anyone to ask for assistance so I left the counter and purchased my groceries. Then I went to my "regular" Publix on Savannah Hwy. and got everything I needed with a friendly associate who didn't mind at all that I got like 8 different things, all wrapped individually.
