ALDI is my usual go to when shopping at home so spotting one while I'm traveling was great. This store is set up just about the same as every other I've been to. Dry goods and breads, produce,dairy, canned goods and baking, bathroom and kitchen, beer and wine, coolers with chilled stuff, freezers with frozen and of course, the Aisle of Awesomeness. I brought my reusable bag and I had a quarter for the cart deposit. Easy to find the stuff I wanted and pay for it at the register. If you're shopping at Aldi be sure to bring along a few bags and a quarter. You will need the quarter to obtain a shopping cart and you must bag your own groceries. You can purchase bags at the checkout counter, just remember to put them back in your trunk for future visits. I generally go to ALDI for their fresh produce and unique finds. The price of their produce is the cheapest around and a lot of their items are organic. They have a good selection of cheeses and I love their Mediterranean salmon. I shop here quite often! I had a new item to return. The cashier (lady) stated the item was ringing up a different price than what I paid. She called the manager (man) over to assist. They were having difficulties getting the computer to override so I would be refunded the amount I paid. The cashier said "Can you just come back another day" in a very rude voice! Before moving to the Charleston area, I shopped at Aldi a lot, so I was excited to see a new one open in Mt. Pleasant. I wish we had more Aldi stores in the area, especially in some of the "grocery store deserts" (Peninsula, Park Circle, etc) because the store provides fresh foods at a great value. Many items are organic, too. I mainly shop at Aldi stores for produce and fresh foods rather than the packaged products. My favorite Aldi items are the honey roasted peanut butter (seasonal), the hummus (available all the time), and really any vegetables and fruits. It's the type of store where you can do ~75% of your grocery shopping but will need to visit another store for things like a butcher, deli, fresh baked goods, or specialty items. The best thing about Aldi is that the special purchase items change each time you visit. You can find items for your house or yard sometimes- but if you see something you like, go ahead and purchase it because it might not be there when you return. This is a new store, so people are still figuring out the carts and bags situations. Just bring a quarter for the cart and bring reusable bags, or grab boxes inside the store. It really couldn't be a better time for me to review Aldi!! I needed a few things, my college student needed a few things for his apartment, and my oldest needed a few things for his apartment. So they tagalong with me like they did when they were little tykes! I was able to get everything we all needed, plus some of those things that kids like to throw in the baskets, they do that as adults too LOL!! This is about customer services I am writting this review for the Aldi at Mount Pleasant SC. What I am about to write is 100% truth with my all honest. I was shopping at Aldi Mount Pleasant SC on Friday, november 22, 2019 around 6:30 - 7:45pm. When checking out, the cashoer lady was extremely rude to me that I have never experienced anywhere else and anytime before like that (she is short, young, African American). When putting the stuff on the band, I recognized the bananas are not looking good (old) so I decided to not taking them. Then she got bad attitude toward me as stare at me, she threw the banana heavily on the cart with angriness. After that she quickly checked my stuff out and threw strongly every single item into my cart and push my cart away to the wall , it's like if I want my them, I have to walk all the way there to get them. She smiles satisfied with all of that while i was keep silence Im brief, that is the first time I received that kind of customer service when I simply want to check out without taking the old bananas. I dont know who hire her without proper training and attitudes. (She is not at her checkout station and I have to wait a little bit to come). I don't get these reviews. They sell "off- brands" products! If you think you're getting the same as brand products, think again. I bought honey nut cheerios, $1.97. Off brand name. Great price huh? Until I got home and tasted them. Nasty and stale. The sell- by date was last month! I should have checked. 2 stars because of the low prices, but that's it. ALDI in Mount Pleasant is one of my favorite grocery stores to stop in and shop at. I like all of the variety of different items that they have available and the quality and value that they offer. The location is very convenient and easy to access and I like to stop in here when I am on this side of town. I have made some delicious meals with food from here. read more

Aldi is a different from your average market. I had been to once once before they put this one in and got ahold of some good finds so I was excited to see this one pop up in Mt P. Because it's newer (than the one I went to) and it's in Mt P, it's a little more boujee. I thought I was going to end up here often but with all the competition I find myself going here the least. I'm sure it doesn't help that I can walk to Harris Teeter, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods. They do have cheap prices and different products so it's fun to stop in, but I couldn't see myself doing all my shopping here. Aldi's has my heart! I don't mind the cart quarter or bringing and bagging, the prices are unbeatable and the selection is amazing for the cost! It's very basic but I don't go for an ultimate shopping experience, I go for good food at a good cost. This is my primary grocery store and usually I can find all but maybe one or two items I'm particularly picky about. The only other drawback is occassionally the produce is not the absolute best BUT more often than not it just fine! My diet is vegetarian so I do a ton of produce. The prices for other staples like bread, milk, eggs... Ice cream are also always significantly lower. Of note, they have a surprising selection of organic foods!!! I am very impressed by that aspect. Shopping at Aldi has cut my grocery bill in half! The only things you have to get used to are bringing your own bags and a quarter to get your cart. They have a wide selection of items from fresh produce to grab and go items. They have organic produce that is way cheaper than at other stores. They also have a decent wine selection where you can get bottles for as low at $3 (my kind of place)! In addition to food, they also have cheap toiletries, kitchen appliances, and some furniture. The layout of the store makes it easy to get in and out quickly instead of getting lost in long aisles. I find everything I need at Aldi, so I've been shopping there for about a year now. Then some lady who continued to sweep the floor after 3 people were queued up finally stopped sweeping and started checking people out. I'm giving this a one star for the sole reason that my friend WAS working at this business and they made them work in a cooler that was 32 degrees or less.. without a jacket that fit , no gloves or anything that gave them warmth and then proceeded to yell at them for stepping out because they were freezing. On top of that , they have fussed at them for "peeing to much" mind you .. they only went to the restroom TWICE. I was so excited to hear all about Aldi. I finally went there for the first time a couple weeks ago. I am extremely pleased with the prices. Fruit is the cheapest I have ever seen. All the necessary things you need everyday are so cheap that its silly to go anywhere else. I like how you bring a quarter to use the carts and then you get your quarter back after you're done using it. This helps to cut down costs of employees and it assures everyone brings their cart back to the cart area. When you walk in, it looks like a cheap grocery store. Everything is on shelves but still in boxes. The lights are kind of dull and the aisle aren't that big. I walked down every aisle and found some interesting things. Their sections aren't that large but they have what you need. Their wine is cheap too! When you get to the register, they don't have bags so you have to either bring your own or use boxes. I like that idea because plastic bags are so wasted. They have a lot of unknown brands but it makes you want to go and try different things. The cashiers sit in chairs which is good because standing in one spot for too long can be annoying. I give Aldi four starts. Only because they don't have a giant selection of stuff. Im extremely pleased with the pricing though. The clientele isn't the best. But what could you do for cheap food? I will be back again! But only for necessary things. read more

It's like a magical land for the people of the poor, my kind of place indeed. Living on a super low student budget in the lovely, but expensive city of Charleston makes it hard to live off of Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, that's where Aldi's comes in. On average for our weekly grocery expenditure for two we spend 70-80$, however shopping at Aldi we come in at about 50 every time, boom, savings! More money for the beers on the weekends! Not to mention they have some of the best prices on meat and your more health conscious products, was a surprise for me. Before going just make sure you got your reusable bags and your quarter! I rode past Aldi and realized it was actually open for business when I was on my way to my regular grocery store and figured I would stop and check it out. I was expecting unidentifiable off brands, cheap prices, and not to find exactly what I was looking for. I ended up buying more than I really went in for and was surprised by what all I found!! Two pretty obvious facts but worthy of note: 1. If you want the luxury of rolling a cart around the store (to pile up the things you will inevitably find to buy) then BRING A QUARTER. Outside to the right of the entry is a typical cart stall, but you'll see that they're all neatly pushed to the way back because a chain attaches them together. Walk over and insert a quarter into the slot right there on the cart handle and the connecting chain will release and you're free to go. Return your cart here, re-inserting the last cart's chain, and you'll get your quarter back! 2. BRING YOUR OWN BAGS. Aldi provides paper ($.06), plastic ($.10) or reusable ($2) bags all for a cost AND you still have to ~bag your own groceries~ even if you buy their bags. You place all your items up on the check out belt, the cashier rings them up, then puts them all back in your cart. There's a large counter along the side wall where you can sort, stack and stuff your purchases into your bags of choice. *TIP* I like to put my groceries on the belt with other like items (cold vs boxed vs cans vs fragile) so they get put in the cart kind of together, making the whole bagging process go a little more smoothly for me. I was surprised to see some name brands (Pringles, Gatorade, Snyders, Goldfish, etc) but the bulk of the place consists of its own store brands. One thing I really liked was that the packaging colors/designs of the store brand items pretty closely mimicked those of the more familiar brands you're probably more used to seeing on grocery store shelves. This made it easy on the eyes, still being able to pretty quickly recognize and identify products even by all sorts of different names. Plus there's A LOT of stuff crammed into this little store (and there were a lot of people maneuvering very large carts) which made it even nicer to kind of be able to glance and determine what general items were in a certain section. Another thing that really surprised me is that it is NOT JUST GROCERIES. They have nearly a whole aisle of home goods (pillows, air mattresses, kitchen supplies, small boxed furniture, etc) and a ton of active or outdoorsy products (yoga mats, exercise equipment, bird feeders, gardening tools, potting soil, bulbs, etc). They also had clothing (pajamas, underwear, socks, shoes, etc), school supplies, board games, cleaning supplies, and all sorts of other RANDOM stuff I was totally not expecting. Overall the prices did seem very reasonable for ~99% of the items. There were a few things I'd just simply rather buy my preferred brand of elsewhere (even if it's a dollar more), a few things questionably priced (seemed good but need to price compare), and a couple things that were definitely more expensive than I can often find them on sale at HT or Publix. Mount Pleasant definitely did not need another grocery store in this area but I will happily take advantage of it's proximal location to my house and hopefully continue to find good buys here! read more

I assumed this one was on the newer side since it seemed much nicer. The layout made more sense and it seemed to offer more of a variety than the typical Aldis I frequent in Ohio. The employees are polite. The salmon is farm raised. The prices are good but the selection is minimal. Many frozen items are one of a kind so the next time you come back for the item it is not available. This is frustrating. Chicken , beef and pork are always in stock. Things like lamb are only offered around Easter. This is what I have been told. I have never been able to get it here. WIne is good and decent prices. Aldi is amazing!! It has super cheap produce, snacks, literally everything is so cheap. They have lovely flowers, yummy snacks and treats from European countries like Germany and England. You have to bring a quarter to get a cart out, but you get it back when you leave. You also can either bring your own bags, boxes, etc. or buy bags for 10 cents each. You also have to pack your own bags. They have lots of organic produce and options. I went there today and the best experience. OK, first time Aldi shopper and I really like it for what you can get. It takes a little getting used to and not sure how often we will drive from James Island but just the less expensive wine may be enough to get us over there. They have $2.99 bottles of one eyed owl wine. Never heard of it but for that price we bought several varieties to test out and so far we are very happy with the deal for wine that is better than the price reflects. So $10 bottles vs $3 bottles may make the difference in when to go saving $27 for 3 bottles. We also got some other deals like .59 Hass Avocados. Less than half the sale price of other places. They were not ripe and take a while to be usable but usually they are over ripe so I think I prefer this. There are some strange aisles for sure with non grocery items and we are not familiar with the layout yet but I see this as being an acquired taste that we already have benefited from and will look to do more here. I was very excited when Aldi's opened in Mt. Pleasant. I had never been to one before but have heard about the great prices, so I had to go shop there. I love it. I save a lot of money when I go there! Small store compared to local grocery chains. Limited selections on produce, meat, etc... but the prices cannot be beat. For example, I bought a eight pack of chicken thighs for around 3 dollars. That's an amazing price. And they were good. Nice selection of wines for a few bucks. 50 cents for a loaf of bread? Yes, you will find that there. Nice selection of cheeses, dips and snacks. Limited but way cheaper then at another store. I like to stock up on freezer foods that are actually very healthy and delicious... and cheap! Love the frozen eggplant Parmesan, large bag of seasoned frozen chicken breasts, mussels, chicken kebabs, frozen veggies they are half the price then anywhere else. I spend around $20-$30 dollars every time I go and leave with large quantities of food. Huge money saving here. Not a huge fan of the fresh produce. But thats ok. Great snacks. Coffee is sooo cheap here! Double if not triple the price elsewhere and it's good! Check it out! Bring your own bags. You will have to pack the food up yourself. I am a fan of Aldi which is under the same German management as Trader Joe's which also means you will find random German items in the store. Their prices are very cheap but you have to be prepared to shop in a particular Aldi way. You pay a quarter for your cart and you get the quarter back when you return the cart. Bring your own bags! When you check out, all your items get dumped into the cart -- then it's your job to bag them which you do on a special shelf Aldi has created for this purpose. Every week their weekly specials change and thei specials are entirely random -- from baby products, gardening things (even plants), random articles of clothing, etc. these items change every Wed. and if you go to Aldi.com, you can see what the specials are for that week. So, in summary, good prices but you have to be prepared to shop in a particular way. And Aldi would also not be your place for one-stop grocery shopping. But, as I said, I am a fan. read more
