I walked in and was immediately impressed with the bright, clean and amply stocked shelves and cold cases. There's lots of national brand items at lower prices than Publix and many store brands that I frequently purchase to fill my pantry . There were two large aisles of Aldi Finds ... unusual items that you wouldn't expect to find at an Aldi. The produce, meats, cheeses, etc., looked decent. As I had other stops, I didn't purchase anything that needed refrigeration. There were numerous staff on the floor ... all interactions were friendly and helpful. I definitely plan to return ...

That little ritual always makes me smile because it feels like part of the ALDI rhythm. The store was clean, well organized, and fully stocked. We had no trouble finding our favorite snacks, and as always, the prices were excellent. Even the men's room was clean and well maintained, which is something I always appreciate. Checkout was quick and efficient, just the way I like it. We were able to get in, grab what we needed, and be back on the road in no time. This was a smooth and satisfying shopping experience from start to finish. A great stop, and one I'd gladly return to. [Review 1405 of 2025 - 1349 in South Carolina - 24957 overall]

It's located behind the main drag on the left as if you are heading to the old train depot. They have parking there and it's less than a minute walk to the market. They have a variety of locally grown (John's Island & Wadmalaw ) vegetables, Fruit & Nuts. Plus today I met some local artists, Elizabeth for one, working on a variety of platforms painting beach themed work. Amazing. She has some beautiful work on display. I saw shrimp for sale and of course coffee. I also noticed they have bathrooms in a building at the back of the market. Some nice plants for sale here also. I really loved this Market & wish all the vendors well. Just sad that I discovered it late in their season.

The location can't get much better than that. There's plenty of car and golf cart parking. The market lasts from 2pm until 7pm, so there's no mad rush of people creating a shortage of places to park. Although there are limited numbers of venders, they're each unique. There's no endless numbers of craft tents, but a select few. Love that they have a sweetgrass basket vender. The plant vender offers all organically grown products. There's also a food truck and live music. I was able to buy all the ingredients for a fresh mozzarella salad. Fresh basil, olive oil, mozzarella and tomatoes.

Growfood Carolina - Ramen from Food Film Festival

This is a review solely for the Food Film Festival that was held at Growfood. They're planning to…read moremake it an annual event and I'd highly recommend attending the next one! I went with a couple of friends and we had the best time. It was a great event at a great venue. How many times have you watched a film (for me, it's the tv show Top Chef) and saw something that looked incredibly tasty and wished you could sample it? The idea of the Food Film Festival was born from that very desire. I went to Friday night's event which was called Edible Adventure #007: International Meal of Mystery. Some of the offerings weren't necessarily international per se (there were some films/food from Chicago and Canada) but we'll let that slide because honestly who cares when you're stuffing your face? For the price of a ticket (with a discount code it was $45), we got to watch about 8 short films (ranging from 45 seconds to around 12 minutes), beer and/or wine and a plethora of different foods to sample. While you're watching these films, there will come a pivotal time where you'll say to yourself "wow, that looks great. I wonder what that tastes like." And then, right on cue, out comes the food and you get to taste the very food you're watching on the screen. We enjoyed pretty much everything we were offered, from the savory pocket pies to the amazing doughnuts, all of which were either prepared on site or flown in overnight, with a lot of the food being served by the same people featured in these films. The big showstopper meal of the night was the ramen that was made by the star of the documentary, Ramen Dreams. This was real authentic ramen made by a ramen master flown in from Japan. This is not the $1 ramen that got us through our college years. It looked amazing and tasted even better! I missed out on going to Saturday night's event but if it was anything like Friday night's, I'm sure it was just as great. These unique kinds of events is what makes us so fortunate to be living in a place like Charleston. I thought it was such a fun experience and can't wait to see what they'll bring us next year!
