I only go to this HT if I absolutely have to. Otherwise I avoid it at all costs. It is always chaotic and full of shoppers who behave as if it's their first time on earth. Horrible customer service. When you bring up pricing errors to them and they come to assist they act like they're doing you a favor by correcting mistakes within their system. Making comments like "go ahead and give it at that price". You're not "giving" me anything, you're giving the price as displayed and your flawed system made the error. Multiple pricing errors just about every time I shop there. Multiple problems with their E-VIC digital coupons. Again, when there's an error and the coupon doesn't work its like they're once again doing you a favor when it's errors in their flawed system. My advice to my fellow shoppers is to watch closely as you're items are being rung up or you're almost guaranteed to find mistakes on your receipt where you was overcharged for something or a digital coupon wasn't credited. read more

We stopped in here to pick up some pizza on a busy weekend. I interacted with two employees, both of which were very nice and helpful. Joe made our pizzas. They were faster than they estimated and we were quickly on our way to check out. I used my phone number for their rewards at self-check and got $4 off my two pizzas. Score. Highly recommend! Always clean and very friendly employees! Veggies are always stocked and very fresh.... Today they have cabbage for .25 a head!!!The butcher shop acknowledges you right away and is always ready to serve. Great selection and price on fish and meats! I stop by quite often to pick up fresh fish and chicken (unbelievable price for huge chicken breast)! I'm splitting my time between HT and Publix these days, depending upon what I'm looking for. But I gotta hand it to the Savannah Hwy HT for their opening up the hot bars. What?...Self serve stations in a pandemic and we haven't reached "Herd Immunity" yet?! Well, call this healthcare professional naive, but HT has been taking this seriously all along. Besides, get it hot in the store and by the time it's at your home you gotta microwave it anyway, and that will kill anything in about 30-45 seconds. I usually go for a minute. I wrote about the Harris Teeter located in Arlington VA. Two buddies said, lets open a grocery store! It spun into a chain and now spans across several states. Go Teeter! Go Harris! This location has a very updated and contemporary feel. I love seeing wine being sold in a supermarket. New York has a stigma that the sales of wine will take away from the sole proprietor liquor stores. Heck, they sell Ben & Jerry's by the pint but I'm still going to get my fix during the summer. While I was looking around the vast wine section, a woman asked if I can grab her a 6 pack of O'Douls off the high shelf. She's telling me this version is non alcoholic and enjoys the taste of beer. It's Thanksgiving, I grabbed the beer, said God Bless you and moved on. We needed some hair supplies, my wife paid for her purchase and we continued our drive. If you want a quick lunch or dinner, check out their deli (they make sub sandwiches in house), pizza station, salad bar, Asian area... there's a seating area near the Starbucks or you can just take your food to go (I do). The salad bar is cheap and you can get a big, filling salad for like $5. There's more than salad on the bar, and it's all delicious. Definitely give it a try if you're shopping one evening and don't want to cook when you get home. read more

This location is extremely clean. Plus as an added benefit you can order online and go to their Express Pick Up Area in the Parking Lot to pick up your order. I am a big fan of Harris Teeter, but this location is so weird. The store is SO cramped. You walk in and immediately are bombarded with the produce section having containers everywhere. Trying to make your way back toward the store is a big hassle- you have to walk through the hot bar, the pizza bar, the deli, etc. There are SO many containers in the aisles/area and it's basically like a maze trying to make it through. Their online pick-up is also odd. The area to pick up your groceries is in the parking lot- across from the entrance. Other local stores are located up front near the door, so it was a bit confusing. If someone is in front of you calling in their name for pick up, you are blocking the aisle for cars to come down in the parking lot. We almost got hit twice waiting. The employees at this location aren't really that friendly. They will help you if you seek them out and ask, but they seem less than enthused. read more

So I just got off the phone with the manager asking if he knew where the flowers came from that they sell in the floral shop and he seemed confused. Finally he understood and said they come from their warehouse. I bought some for Mother's Day and as soon as they started to wilt small flies began to emerge by the dozens. Although I removed the flowers immediately we now have a fly problem that won't go away. I'm not going to spray chemicals so fly glue strips is all I can do. Out of the 2 Harris Teeters I've been to, I really like this location much better. It seems like it's got more products and plus plenty of "cool carts", which my kids look forward to when grocery shopping. Harris Tetter are by far my favorite grocery stores locally. I think every location I've been in have great service, great selection of products, and always have the shelves stocked. The produce section at the West Ashley Harris Teeter is always plentiful with beautiful, fresh produce. I'm loving the addition of the Starbucks, new pizza station and Asian Hot Bar. I'm a big fan of all the new upgrades! Use your VIC to keep track of your savings and go online for the coupons. This is an awesome Harris Teeter. It opened several years ago and has helped reestablish St. Andrews Shopping Center as a preeminent shopping destination in West Ashley. Besides offering Express Lane Home Shopping (where you order at home and the groceries are bagged & ready to go when you arrive), there's also a Starbucks just inside the entrance. The store is nicely laid out and still feels very new. I definitely recommend checking it out. read more

It takes me about the same amount of time to get to this HT or the one.on Dorchester road so depending on traffic we decide which one to go to. Although both are nice, I think I prefer this one because of the self dispenser selection of nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and trail mixes at this location. It feels more whole foodsy and less publixy at this location whereas the Dorchester location feels a little more publixy. Anyhow, I know this location has been in the news for their cray cray employee, but I have been since then and have inspected the produce myself, and it appears/smells (lol) to be just fine. One thing that trips me up a little about this location it's layout is backwards from typical stores. But I ain't complaining. The cashiers are for the most part friendly, some a little more quiet than others. I am also digging that checkered pattern tiled area as you walk up to the store. But I am wondering if it's slippery when it rains. Anyway, I have only had good experiences so far at this store. Will be back. read more

The Avondale Harris Teeter is my neighborhood grocery store of choice. We have tons of options in the area, but Harris Teeter is my absolute favorite. Sometimes I tell myself to try other grocery chains because maybe they're cheaper, but when I go somewhere else it's either not cheaper or just not the quality I want in a grocery store. I've tried Publix a few times, sometimes it's cheaper and they have great brands and quality, but most of the time it's not any better (often their publix brand is more expensive than the HT Traders or Simply Organic) and it's a farther drive from my home. I feel that Harris Teeter has a lot more promotional offers with their VIC card as well. I'm always saving a lot of money if I play my cards right. When they do BOGO free I stock up on items I use often. For example they have these yummy chicken or turkey kielbasa, they're a healthier brand normally $5 per pack. When they do BOGO free I buy as many as I can and freeze them. I also like that you can get the BOGO Free price even if you just buy one, you don't have to buy two to get the discount. If you purchase one it will right up at 50% off. This is the case for all their other deals. 2/$5.00 each item rings as $2.50, so on and so forth. The store is set up nicely, associates are friendly and helpful. I actually love the way this specific location is set up. I don't love all the layouts of Harris Teeter locations, Avondale is my favorite. Maybe I'm just biased because this is my neighborhood location but hey ‍ I'm a creature of habit. The produce section is right up front and easy to navigate with a cart. The bread/bakery/deli etc are after the produce, it flows nicely and makes total sense. They have a great international aisle as well. This location doesn't have as much brand variety in the international aisle as that new HT near TJMaxx, but I'd much rather go to this location because it's significantly less crowded. Maybe customers are going to the new HT location now, because the Avondale HT location is never overly crowded anymore I LOVE IT. The parking lot is so much easier to deal with too. I'm also a grandma and love coming here early on Saturday mornings when they haven't turned all the lights on yet and are still waxing the floors. It's such a pleasant shopping experience with barely any other customers around. The one weird thing about HTs are the checkout setups. It's so weird to me that there is no belt. I've never experienced this at any other grocery chain. You drive your cart up and they unload from your cart. Yes it does remove a step of you unloading your cart, but it also makes it annoying if You don't want a cart and just want carry your items as you shop. When you get to the checkout there's nowhere to set your items except the ground. Maybe I'm crazy to admit this but HT makes me enjoy coming to the grocery store. I don't usually leave reviews for grocery stores because they have always kind of been about the same to me. I realized recently though, that I have come to take Harris Teeter for granted, and have gotten a little spoiled by the convenience and product selection available here. In my opinion, the produce department is not even in the same league as other local grocery stores. The variety, selection, and quality is almost always superior. I also love the fresh breads, the deli, the meat counter and the bakery. There is nowhere else in town that you can always buy individual chicken breasts for under two dollars a pound. The same great quality and selection is available throughout the entire store. I love that I can buy local beers, locally produced products, and local produce. You might pay a little more for some things here, but staple items are usually pretty competitively priced. I've really come to depend on Harris Teeter, and am glad to have them in the neighborhood! read more

Been here a few times. Discovered on my last visit (when I ran in for beer for after work and to pick up a sandwich for lunch) that they had an Asian Bar. Pay by the pound ($7.99), Tried it and really liked it. Not as good as a Chinese restaurant buffet of course, but this is, after all, a grocery store. And as to the beer selection?? My goodness, you can get lost in the two long beer coolers. You could spend days (OK, hours) looking at all of their cold beer selections. read more

They basically have anything and everything you need. My wife sent me here today to get dairy free ice cream and those French fried onions you used for Thanksgiving Green Bean casserole. Being someone who doesn't grocery shop often, I had no idea where to find the onions. I had to ask an associate working, he was helpful and led me right to the onions. He didn't just tell me what aisle, he took me there. Their prices are reasonable, location is convenient for me, and I'm always quickly in and out. My wife is also an organic gluten free whatever eater and she can find what she needs here no problem. One thing that is slightly annoying is that you can't sign up for their rewards card at the checkout. You have to go to customer service to do it and every time I go another customer is there with some ridiculous long question and I just leave instead. Also the checkout lanes are kind of strange. If you're getting a big haul of groceries they're pretty inconvenient. There's no belt to put your items up on so the process is slower and less organized in my opinion. On the way to HT, I passed a Super Wal*Mart, a BI-LO, and various other grocers, however, I was determined in my travels to shop at this HT based on my previous HT experiences in other states, and feedback that I'd received from others about this HT and it's quality. I was pleased to find that their front outdoor entrance looks like a checkerboard, and were it not for the traffic constantly driving over it, may have attempted a quick life-size game before shopping. Once inside, I easily found what I was looking for as the aisles are very easy to navigate (they put signs above the aisles that assist you). Even though the self-checkout was available, I was happy to walk through a register with a live person to assist me. She was very friendly and conversational, which is nice to have every now and then. I found myself back here later in the day because apparently I forgot something on my honey-do list :-) read more

I love the wide range of organic/healthy/international/cool stuff I can find when I wander the aisles. This location is several miles from where I live and really not on my way home from work, but I order my groceries online and pick them up from the express lane when I get to the store. I know I am saving time and money doing this, because I only order exactly what I need and there's no impulse buying. I love it that HT doubles and sometimes triples coupons. This is a newer location and features a granola bar, wing bar, hot bar and salad bar in addition to the regular options of most HT. If you haven't tried the tuna salad you should definitely try it. Always good as is their sandwiches. They are larger than traditional foot longs, they offer daily deals and every Friday you can get a foot long for $5.99. Of you have a VIC card you can accumulate sub points and earn a free foot long after 12 (I believe) points. Each half sub counts as 1 point. Just be sure to let them know if you're redeeming your free sub because they put it in a different sleeve. read more
