I don't do a lot of cooking, but TJs offers so many frozen, delicious cold and hot meals that require only a sauce pan.

I knew that I didn't have an option. But I talked to Google and I discovered Opie Drive-Thru Grocery. I was able to place an order and my husband went to Mount Pleasant (1 hour and 7 minutes away from Santee) to pick up the groceries. I prepared our Christmas dinner and it was possible because of Opie Drive-Thru Grocery. Placing the food order was a snap and although there were some items that weren't available, I had those staples in my pantry and fridge. My husband said that picking up our items was a great experience as the young man who assisted him was very friendly and professional. All I can say is that Opie Drive-Thru Grocery saved my Christmas dinner. We could have been eating ham sandwiches and potato chips but instead we dined on homemade lasagna and a garden salad. For a first, this was an awesome experience. Drive-Thru groceries. What a grand concept!

When I lived in South Carolina in the 90's Harris Teeter was the premier grocery store. Then…read moreanother chain came through and people flocked to that one. I was excited to come back and see how things had changed. I learned that to get the best and freshest items, get there early! The rotisserie chickens are quite hefty and taste delicious. They carry items that I can't get anywhere else. That's how I rate stores to begin with. I WILL and do regularly go to multiple places if need be, but it's a bonus to get it all done in one spot. The folks that work here are very nice. My only knock is when you bring your own bags inside ( you have to here in SC) , they pack them so heavily that I couldn't even lift them into the trunk. Thank goodness, I was able to call on another young man in the parking lot who happily and kindly assisted. He even said it was heavy. But the biggest and best reason for going to Harris Teeter is this. I begrudgingly am going to share this with my fellow Yelpers because they have done right by me all these years. HARRIS TEETER CARRIES RED VALENCIA GREEN PEANUTS!!!!! And damn fine, fresh ones too!!! The season is short so get them while you can! They are easy to make ( time consuming, but easy) and they freeze beautifully. They taste exactly like you just made them if done right. I do not like the jumbo white ones you usually find in these parts so these are a treat. Both of my refrigerator freezers are filled with them in various zip lock bag sized. Snack, 2people and PARTY size. I thought I was going to have to drive 5 hours for my other straight from the farmer source. If you say you hate them because they taste like beans, I am fine with it. Just means more for me!!! Harris Teeter, thank you!!!

She agreed, and we went together today, having a good time grabbing new products at good prices up and down the aisles. But then we get to the checkout and damn.... There are more than 8 availabe registers and only one person checking people out. There were several people with carts filled to the brim, all waiting in the same line to be rung up. Then on top of it, we all had to bag our own stuff which proceeded to hold up the line either further. I understand when we have to help out at places from time to time (and in fact, I often like to) but for it to be an expectation is wild. And multiple employees walked by without an offer of help. I mean I guess I could get it when you've got a young adult customer doing the job, but 70-something year olds? Is it the generation? This store? This company? That was very bizarre, ro say the very least. (If I wanted to bag my own pile of things, then I would have gone to the self checkout....) I see now why we will be continuing with Publix. The customer service is off the charts, with friendly people helping with checkout, bagging, and even loading the car. Not to mention they know their regulars by name.... This Harris Teeter can't even come close. We tried, Mt P, HT! But not again. I'll stick to other grocery stores while in the Charleston area.

This issue relates to a raincheck that was issued after the lobster tail promotion problems that occurred on February 26. When I arrived at the store on March 6 to pick up the lobster tails tied to my raincheck, the seafood employee (Ty) located a box that contained five lobster tails. My raincheck allowed for up to three tails, and I asked if the store would be willing to honor the raincheck for all five since that was the quantity available in the box. Ty immediately said no, which I understood. However, I then politely asked if he could check with the store manager to see whether an exception could be made. Ty refused to do so and told me I would have to call the manager myself if I wanted that request made. While standing at the seafood counter, I called the store to ask for the manager. At that point, Tristan, the manager on duty, came back to the seafood counter, and I calmly explained the situation. During that conversation, Ty began interrupting, raising his voice, and accusing me of lying while I was trying to speak with the manager. I told Tristan that the interaction was becoming unacceptable and that I would likely need to report the situation to Harris Teeter corporate. As Tristan and I began walking away from the counter, Ty started clapping loudly and shouting insults toward me, saying something along the lines of "go ahead and do that." Regardless of the raincheck question, this kind of behavior toward a customer is completely inappropriate and unprofessional. I have been a Harris Teeter customer for years and have never experienced anything like this. I hope Harris Teeter reviews this situation and addresses the conduct that occurred at the seafood counter.

It actually cleared the line of sight across the department but also made smaller holding power. Then the other major change was to add more self checkouts and reduce the # of staffed registers. But the service here has changed, to a lesser quality. Many times they are stocking in the daytime, but when trying to shop and pass by the staff just stay in the way. With less staffed registers, it means longer lines. Then with Kroger's takeover, the private brand has also switched, which I find is a lesser quality. But the store is always in good condition, clean, with fresh perishables, it has a with a well run Rx, and a gas station.

Publix always puts customers first. During the hurricane chaos, they remained open without forcing employees to stay, only those that wanted to. It's the day before Thanksgiving today, and about 4pm. There is no parking available in the Publix lot so I was dreading what to expect inside the store. Surprisingly pretty calm! Shelves were being continually stocked with all the holiday needs. I asked for assistance 3x and was physically shown exactly where my item was, once by a manager. I was wished Happy Thanksgiving bu pretty much everyone and again, not in a rehearsed way. All cash registers were open and there were no long lines. The best thing I like is the variety of people that work here. From young school aged kids to much older "kids" who are probably post retirement. There are middle aged professional looking men and women, to the college student type. All walks of life can be seen here, all seeming to be happy to be working here. There are several adults with special needs that work here too and I was asked if I needed help from a young man who had Down's syndrome. He led me to what I needed and he told me all about his Thanksgiving and wanted to know about everything about mine. It made my day! Someone was interested in my little Thanksgiving!!! Without hesitation, I would say that a store where the workers are happy to work there is a store I support.
