If you are staying at the Charleston Marriott, this Publix is a SUPER option for breakfast treats! I popped over at 7:30 AM and spent $60 on breakfast food for my 5 siblings and make a little breakfast bar in one of our hotel rooms! The pastries are OUT OF THIS WORLD- seriously, the apple and cherry turn-overs were amazing. The fruit was fresh. Cheese. Nuts. Noosa yogurts. Lots of juice, waters, and Diet Coke to round out the breakfast bar. The shop is clean, organized, well-stocked. Reasonable prices. We used self-check-out and the wait wasn't long at all. Popped in and out pretty quickly. Highly recommend this grocery store to stock up on supplies next time you stay at the Marriott next door. read more

Don't get me wrong. I love Publix! I really do. I'm in the store near me almost every day. There's something appealing about being in the store. However...I've order a sandwich for pickup and delivery and I just say it's not the same as being in the store and ordering it. It was as if the sandwich wasn't made by Publix at all! The difference is in the amount of ingredients you get. Ordering you get the minimum, which is not good enough. If I ordered avocado I want avocado, not avocado spread. If that was a choice it should be listed as one. Let me choose between sliced and a spread. I shouldn't have to look for the cucumber...or the tomato. Just saying. I will stand in line and order my sandwich from now on so I won't be disappointed. read more

What do I love more than Publix grocery store? A brand new pristine Publix grocery store right within the limits of downtown Charleston. As others have mentioned, the majority of the parking is the parking deck on the second/third floor. The great thing is that it won't cost you anything extra because the first two hours are free! I was having so much fun shopping that I almost missed the two hour limit and had to pay, but squeaked out in the nic of time (Sadly I'm not joking). The setup setup is similar to a any other Publix but they've got all the extras like nicely stocked floral section with balloons, cards and other gift accoutrements. There's a cafe with tables to chow down on your Pub sub that you picked up in the giant deli department with a beautiful array of take home dinner options. I didn't notice any difference in price to account for the location so I would definitely make this an option for regular shopping as it's not too far out of the way. read more

I have been a regular shopper of this particular Publix when I lived downtown a few years back, and I always liked it. I had occasion to visit there this past Friday, February 28. While inside only briefly, My leather work binder with my receipt book, business cards, and other important information was stolen either out of the bathroom or out of my cart. I was very upset, and went to a manager, who was standing at the front of the store with his arms folded. He would not look at me and walked away from me for some reason. I followed him, and he pointed to customer service, and again walked away from me, and would not look at me. I found this odd behavior. I was clean and neat and did not smell bad and was not rude, so I have no idea why he seemed to not even want to deal with me at all. I went to customer service, and nothing had been turned in. I then went back to him where he was standing again, with his arms folded, a few feet away from another young man who was standing with his arms folded, and they were looking ahead like two armed guards at the front of the store. It should be noted that there probably was less than five people in the entire store on this particular day about 1045 in the morning. I approached him and said, could you make an announcement in the store if anybodys seen the folder? He laughed and said, I don't think so. He continued to just blow me off like I was someone he was already angry with. I still have no clue why. One of the older ladies walked by and said to him, you could look on the camera and see if you could see who stole it. He got mad at her and said, I've got this I don't need you to help me. I said that's a good idea. Could you look on the camera? He said no I don't think so if you wanna leave your number with customer service... And then just began to walk away from me again. I said no I need you to look on the camera now the person could still be in the store. He said OK so I'll go look on the camera and he walked away from me. I followed him for a minute and was in the hallway, but didn't see what door he went into. It was at this point that the other young man came up and told me I was in an employee area and I needed to go stand by the front door. Both of these guys acted like I was a shoplifter or a criminal or some unsavory Person that needed to be handled. I sat down in the blood pressure machine. I just waited. About 20 minutes went by and the manager came back out of the office and walked right by me without even speaking. I said what happened? He said I didn't see anybody. I said of course you had to see somebody the cameras right here and I was right here. Did someone come out of the bathroom? He said they might have... He continued on to say maybe they did maybe they had a bag maybe they didn't have a bag. I said, could you describe them he said black. I said black man, black woman? He said woman, and again walked away from me. I followed him and I said you have been the least helpful of any human being I have ever run into anywhere. He said, what do you want me to do? What do you want? What do you want? I finally just left and called corporate and reported him. No one has yet to call me back from corporate, but in looking up some things on Publix, I realize that they support project 2025 and other things that are going on right now in our country that many people are boycotting, which may be the reason the store was completely empty.. Further, I am a 70 year old, white female, who lives on a farm, and I own a business where I I am a care coordinator for the elderly. I had on a big shirt and loose pants and very short hair and may have looked like someone that This young White angry man feels like he is supposed to hate or be rude to. I don't know if he doesn't like farmers, old people, or women who look somewhat manly. But something was totally off about this interaction. He was rude to every woman he came in contact with, not just me. I will never go into Publix again in my lifetime now that I realize they support project 2025 and donate to those causes. Another consideration is if it is so dangerous at that address, 10 Westedge Dr., downtown Charleston because there are homeless people everywhere and you might get your things stolen while you're shopping, maybe it's best that no one go. One thing is for sure, you won't get any sympathy from the manager, and the female employees acted scared to death of him. He is every bit of maybe 30 years old and still wet behind the ears with absolutely no sign of decorum or professionalism to his name. The 60 odd year old lady that suggested the camera be looked at, should be the manager of that store. They would probably retain employees and customers more instead of that ridiculous man. Not only does everything in Publix cost a dollar more than any other store but now they're going to add rudeness And all of this other terrible customer service? Never again Publix and I will do my best to spread the word. read more

As Charleston's only grocery store with parking above the store, this is a unique shopping experience. You park on the 2nd or 3rd floor and take an elevator down to the grocery store. Somehow, the store seemed a little drab (maybe the lighting or how it's set so far back from the street). The urban grocery concept mostly makes up for it though. read more

The new WestEdge Publix opened a little over a week ago, and it's one of the nicest and neatest grocery stores in the area. I needed some groceries and had time to kill, so I ventured downtown to check it out. If you've lived in Charleston, chances are you've shopped at other Publix stores, so I'll just talk about the differences. The first thing you'll notice is that you must park in a garage and take an elevator down. As a newbie, I didn't realize the Publix was only one level, then got on the elevator thinking I'd get off inside the store, but instead it ends just outside the store. When I walked in, I noticed the coffee and smoothie bar, perfect to sip while you shop. I tried a free sample of a smoothie as well. Across from the deli, there's a large grab-and-go area with quick selections, and the deli has some fresh options like salads, pastas, and meats that I haven't seen in other Publix stores. The beer is also in a cooler with doors instead of an open cooler, which seems colder. The location also has a bakery, pharmacy, flowers, and the extensive produce and meat sections of other Publix stores. I noticed self checkouts, but the store was pretty calm, so I opted for a regular register. After shopping, I took the elevator back up to level 2, as the first two levels of the garage are for store parking. The cart returns are inside the garage, and I didn't see any stray carts on my level. The garage is two-way traffic for easy driving, and since the store is new, employees are helping direct traffic and answer any questions. Also, I'm not sure if the garage will eventually charge, but I wasn't charged today and I never had to take a ticket, get a receipt validated, or talk to an attendant. I hope it stays this way! This Publix is clean and pristine, but pretty far from my house, so I likely won't be a regular here. Still, I'm glad that downtown has another option for groceries and can see myself coming back if I'm in the area. read more

This is definitely the nicest Publix in Charleston. Free parking garage and a quick elevator ride down to the entrance. The carts are all new and the store is squeaky clean. The deli features made to order sandwiches and let me say, they are delicious! For $6 I had a whole Italian sandwich and it was so good! Publix at Westedge.. Where is this Publix, you might ask..? It's down on the Peninsula, in the medical District, where MUSC, the VA & Roper are located. It is in a brand new building with parking located on site. The parking is free for two hours and after that it will start costing you $3. They also have a couple of electric charging stations in the garage. You must take the elevator to the store and there are shopping carts available in the area where you get the elevator. When I was there today one was out of order. There are a total of four to chose from and they are quite spacious. The store itself is the usual Publix store & layout. It's clean and very spacious. This supermarket will be very convenient for the hundreds of staff and visitors to the hospitals in the area along with the locals who live in this part of town. read more

The new downtown Publix is the best thing that happened to Charleston last year. They have plenty of parking (with two electric car chargers (free for two hours and rather inexpensive after) and everything is sparkling new and super clean. They have all the food staples and great weekly specials of the "buy one get one free" sort of thing My favorite thing is the cafe which offers daily specials like $1 lattes on Monday, half price smoothies on Saturday and half price Acai bowls on Sundays. The drinks and acai are prepared to order and made fresh for a super low and excellent deal. They have a few tables to hang out while enjoying a quick bite or coffee. Also, everyone working on the store is so nice and kind and willing to help. Highly recommended, hands down, the best grocery store downtown! read more

Publix Super Market at Westedge in Charleston is a great new place to shop for quality groceries at a low price on the Peninsula. It is great to have another grocery option on this side of town and especially a Publix. I have enjoyed every shopping visit here so far and I am happy this place exists after waiting so long and seeing construction complete. I like that there is plenty of free parking and a dedicated elevator to get to the store. The store is big and has plenty of room and items from Publix that I am familiar with. I had an easy time getting in and out with everything I needed. The store was very clean and well run and the staff working here was friendly and helpful and made sure I had a pleasurable shopping experience. Alice is a wonderful and enthusiastic person. She is what keeps Cadets coming back to this Publix for their Pub Sub. Over the last few months we have seen a deep decline in the quality of our pub subs, it really pains me. Everyone besides Alice seems to either be half asleep, apathetic to the cause, or annoyed that there are customers. If you want a sandwich that is scalped (cut 10% in half horizontally), half warm, with ingredients lazily thrown in clumps, cut diagonally, or snarky comments, this is the deli for you. Unless you get Alice, she's the best. I won't be coming back unless more people like her are hired and work with some amount of enthusiasm. read more
