They were missing many items I went looking for: vermicelli noodles, sriracha, and unsalted pistachios (I didn't see even salted pistachios in the nut aisle). Best fried chicken. Nuff said. Never expected grocery store chain to have such good fried chicken but locals recommended it.

Publix Super Markets seem to consistently provide a great shopping experience. Produce is fresh, bakery smells delicious, hot meals available most anytime. I do find that they can be a little disjointed, but this location seems to have done a better job at customer flow than most. It's always clean and staff are always helpful. They have a small "seasonal" area up front as you enter, to the left of the cash registers. I seem to find something here even if I don't really "need" it. Parking is always "iffy" at best, but just plan to walk a bit and you'll be fine. We can all stand a little more exercise in our lives! If you don't live on James Island, this store is so easy to find and get to from anywhere. It's the anchor of a pretty big shopping centre at the intersection of Harborview and Folly Roads. There's a bank (actually two!), and a stand alone restaurant along the roadside, but they don't hide the Publix from plain view. If you want to go when it's a little less hectic, try the mid-morning weekday timeframe. Easy in and out! read more

There are a few things that make Publix stand out from other grocery chains and specifically this location on James Island, located between Harborview and Folly Road. If you have not been here in some time there is now an operational pharmacy as you enter to the right just before you enter the bakery section. Just a little note. First, I love the spacious layout of this store. You have enough room in the aisles to get through the slow cart shoppers without having that uncomfortable moment. Second, freshness. From bakery, to floral, to vegetables to seafood, Publix has one of the freshest selection in the area. Third, commendable customer service at checkout. Not only is there a cashier and bagger ready and waiting with a smile, they will bring you groceries to your car if you are in need. There is something special about going those extra few steps. Publix has an excellent wine selection, but among the other grocery chains, their price points are a little bit higher than Harris Teeter and BiLo. Just a little tip. Excellent lighting. It is soft and open. That is important if you have to read ingredients that are written in small type. An overall, solid store with great fresh selections and warm customer service. read more

I wanted to give a special shoutout to the ladies in the Bakery Dept, and especially Will. Like some kind of packing genius, I had precariously positioned the cake for a one-year-old bday party on the front of my shopping cart. So, of course, crossing the parking lot the cake slipped off the cart and splatted upside down inside the box. Rather than risking returning home and explaining that the cake was still edible but didn't survive the trip intact and not to worry because the beer made it safe and sound, I went back to the bakery hat-in-hand to see if they could salvage it. Despite the fact that they were clearly very busy trying to bust out several orders for the rest of the day, Will gladly took the mangled pastry into the operating room. She was able to re-ice the cake in no time and saved the day! Really grateful for their quick, efficient, and above-and-beyond-the-call-of-duty service. I have been shopping at this store since they opened however many years ago (used to be a Winn Dixie)- it is a great place to grocery shop. The rotisserie chicken is delicious and you can order it ahead. You can also order deli from the website and it is ready for you to pick up when you arrive. I also live the e-receipts. I no longer have those pieces of paper at the bottom of my purse!! read more

Publix on Folly Road in James Island is one of my favorite grocery stores in the Charleston area. This store is very convenient from all of James Island and very easy to get in to and out of and there is plenty of parking in the parking lot and I am usually able to get a really good spot right in front. This store is very well run and organized and I have always been able to find exactly what I was looking for or items I had on my list as everything is well stocked. The staff here is very friendly and very willing to assist you in your shopping when you need it. Shopping really is a pleasure here and I have always had a really good experience here and will be back when I need some good groceries. read more

This Publix is good for the area; a little more expensive that other grocery stores but you at least get the Publix experience of a staff that is happy to help you out and happy to be working at a Publix. Seems like Publix employees are in some sort of cult, because they are always happy. Maybe they get something in the water. With that said, I don't usually shop here for groceries unless I'm already in the area. I do however use this Publix Pharmacy and always have great service; not to mention their prices (my copay) is a lot cheaper than Walgreens and Walmart for some strange reason. For example one medication here by the same brand and everything was 1/2 what Walmart charges. read more

This is my favorite place to pick up groceries on Sundays after church as I jump off of the James Island connector, turn on to Harborview Road and head toward Folly Road with the Publix Shopping Center there on the left before you get to the traffic light. This store is well laid out, the staff (as they are in all Publix supermarkets) are helpful and always there for you. As this was Publix taking over another supermarket years ago it is smaller than other Publix in the area. Of course on Sundays I'm always glad to have their non-breaded chicken wings which unfortunately are no longer been offered as the number of wings but rather solely by the pound. When you have chicken wings by the pound you're paying for the bone of course. Still it is some really good eating. read more

Nice market on JI. We have no shortage of grocery stores on James Island, but this one is a good one! Located in a strip mall with Bagel Nation, Banfield Vet, and Jersey Mike's, among others. This parking lot is kind of terrible. I understand the one ways to help the flow of traffic, but it's not executed that well. In the summertime with tourist traffic, this lot becomes an absolute nightmare. The store itself is nice, with a good selection. The deli is great, with Boar's Head products. The hours are fairly limited, so get here during early hours if you want deli stuff! I like the produce a lot here, which is often why we'll stop in, despite it being a little far out! Publix always has pretty solid deals, with prices often cheaper than HT or Bi-Lo. The wine section is much smaller than Harris Teeter down the street, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're looking for something specific! read more

Nice grocery store with a pretty wide selection and reasonable prices. I have some tricky dietary restrictions, and I come here to get some specialty items without feeling like it's highway robbery. Not only do they have specialty stuff, but they often even still have a few different options to choose from! Pretty killer, in my opinion. I grew up in Florida so Publix was our grocery store. Now I live in Wisconsin so when I'm down south and I see a Publix, I HAVE to stop! Publix always has an amazing deli using top quality deli meats from Boar's Head (For a "chain" deli - it don't get much better than this). This particular Publix I went to right before noon so the deli was busy with orders, I didn't mind the wait though for that delicious sub. The bread is delicious, that's another big part of what makes their subs soooooooo good. I have never been to a Publix that was disorganized or not clean and this one was no different. They also had a small cooking station where an employee put on a demonstration for an appetizer. There were also enough employees at the check out lines so there wasn't a wait there either. This is still my number one grocery store in the country! read more

I've never been in to a Publix before, but I've heard the rumors (good ones) and wanted to see it for myself. I had also heard rumors that they have the best firewood bundles around, but alas, on the day that I arrived, they were all out (quite possibly because it "snowed" this morning and was very cold out). It won't stop me from coming back though, because I was very happy with this location. Parking was easy, even on a busy Saturday, and the inside was very clean and organized. Although my family has favored Harris Teeter for our grocery needs, we may have to try this out some weekend for a full-on shopping trip. read more

I have no problem giving this Publix a five star review because it is always clean inside and it has nice bathrooms it has a great deli and they always have plenty of cash years so the checkout time is not bad at all and over the years I've had several times to talk to a manager about something and they've always been very friendly. Also their prices are decent being that they are a higher end grocery store I still find a lot of their items to be the same price or less expensive then other places and quite often they have some really good specials and sales better really are a killer deal. read more

I have lived here for 10 years. This store has maintained an amazing consistency of being HAPPY, helpful, and caring. You never know what they may have on stock! Aloe juice, gluten free flours, etc. They are my preferred option for produce & price, every time. I finally allowed a girl to help me to my car. The seafood counter, deli and bakery are the best. Always fresh items, some pre-seasoned. And there's always someone at the counter who's ready to assist...none of that staring at the deli selection glancing around for someone to notice you. The cashiers are always friendly and helpful, and there is always someone there willing to help you carry your items to the car if you need it. The aisle arrangement is much different than your other standard stores in the area, so that does take some getting used to. Be sure to check out the online coupons to help with the cost. read more

I have to admit that I shop at another store regularly but mostly out of habit. This location is clean and logically set up with the basic grocery store layout. I come here for the diet tonic. The bottles are easy to open and the store brand tastes better than the store brand at my usual shopping spot. Just a great experience. Every St Patrick's week I cook for over 100 hungry Yacht Club members. We make Corned Beef and Cabbage. I know every year to go to Publix because they have good meat that every year goes on sale and good deals on the cabbage and potatoes as well. They also cook fresh Irish Soda Bread. I call several days in advance and they take my order and have it ready at the time they promise. 100 pounds of Corned Beef and 13 orders of the Soda Bread. Their bakery is fantastic. The person in charge of my order was not ready when I got there because I was 20 minutes early. I went and did the rest of my shopping and got it as I was ready to leave and it was a fantastic batch. My favorite place to grocery shop. I take advantage of the app to order from the deli ahead of time, use their paperless coupons. The staff are always helpful and polite. I have been in several Publix stores all much larger than this one and the service is the same. It is the only chain in this area that will still offer to take your bags out and put them in your vehicle without expecting a tip. I recently stopped in another store of which we have four of, plenty of stockers seen not one asked if they could help me find an item and had to ask for help to my car. (I am handicapped) then mumbled about my not tipping him. Publix is suppose to build another store on James Island, wish they would begin. read more

One star for the pharmacy. We have been 3 times for a flu shot. Lunch time after work and my daughter went once. Each time was told it would be an hour and half wait. No one was even around one of the times. The same lady says it each time and she says it with the expectation you won't wait. It's a scam. Publix is awesome but the pharmacy sucks. Good size store - not too big or too small. All the employees are friendly and helpful. I appreciate that they don't have self-checkouts which are so impersonal and annoying when there are issues. I used to go to a nearby competitor for years and I don't think a single employee ever said hi or offered to help me. The parking lot here is small, but there are usually usually spaces at the back. There are 4-5 grocery store choices on my way home, around my home, and this store makes me feel most comfortable with options, prices, ground chicken, produce, atmosphere...everything. I get sincerely asked if I need help, and even the manager has helped me find cocoanut oil. Or the cashier has offered to get someone in the back to help me check on something I didn't find. As long as I've lived here, I see the same, happy people. How do they find, and keep so many awesome employees?!!! They have some health food items that are cheaper than EarthFare, same name brand. This place makes me so angry - the deli is the worst deli ever. Unfortunately I go every weekend for a couple of things that my son really likes. If it weren't for him, I would never go back. They are always out of things. They never have enough staff to man all of the stations at the deli which means long wait times for customers. Yesterday I waited 10 minutes at the chicken station before someone even acknowledged me. When I said something, they acted like I was being annoying. Then I mentioned this to the cashier and she went and got her manager who's response was not what I was expecting...he actually acted hostile and defensive! I just don't get it! I do know one thing...I'm definitely going to find a way around going back. This place is a nightmare! read more
