Nothing too crazy, it's a Walgreens. The pharmacy staff were nice enough and worked through the long line of people who come here (I believe they have extended store and pharmacy hours compared to other places in the area). A lot of people come here for the shipping services up front, so sometimes can be a bit of a wait if they have trouble locating the person's package for instance. It's strange coming to a drug store that sells both beer and wine. read more

I had 2 different prescriptions. One was a new prescription and one was a refill. i was told that the new fill would be ready Sunday after 8 AM. For the refill, I was told Monday after 8AM. It is 10:30 on Monday. I called to confirm that both prescriptions were ready to be picked up. Neither was ready. Last month when I called in a refill I was told Wednesday after 8 AM. When my husband went to get it for me he was told that they had not processed the insurance yet and he could wait until the next day or pay $300.00+ without it being processed with my insurance. read more

The pharmacy is very inconsiderate of peoples time. I called in on Monday to find out if they had a hard to get medication. A nice lady answered the phone then told me she'd go check and put me on hold. The next person picked up 23 minutes later and had no idea what I was on hold for. So we started again. I was assured they had to medication and I said I'd run right down to get it. They said it would be 2hrs once I arrived. I said no problem. Today is Wednesday afternoon and their system still says it's waiting to be processed. I've been on hold for a total of 30 mins now trying to find out when it will be ready and still haven't spoken to a person in the pharmacy that can help me. Apparently now they pawn you off to a "Customer Care Rep" who can't help with pharmacy questions so they just put you on hold with the pharmacy again. I complained when I called back after waiting 22 mins and then got out on with the "Customer Care Manager" who was nice enough to try and tell me she could help them proceeded to put me back on hold again with the pharmacy that apparently has no one to answer the phone. I'm going to have to drive there now to figure this out in person. I'm sure that will involve more disappointment. Ugh. They are the cheapest by far for this special medicine for my dog but the extra $80 someplace else might be worth it! read more

Walgreens used to be a decent pharmacy, but it is awful now. I needed to get medication early. My insurance company said it would be no problem. The pharmacist has to call them and get an override code. I even gave them the number. Every time I called to see if they had gotten the override code, a new pharmacist would be on duty. The previous pharmacist did not leave them a note. Whenever I called, I would conveniently be disconnected. If I called back, it was another 20 minutes on hold. I thought CVS was bad, but Walgreens is worse. I am going to have to go back to CVS. read more

Y'all PLEASE fire the girl with the long braids that works night shift. She is so miserable and rude and two of my friends that go here agree. She always has this stank face with her eyes half open. If you say hi to her or ask her how she's doing she answers with one words and looks at you like you're stupid for talking to her. I forgot to transfer money to my card tonight 5/22/2025 and she looks at me when I tried to pay and with a stank face before lazily saying "didn't go through". You can at least say full sentences or is it too hard... she's been this way for over a year now and makes it miserable to come here. The other two girls that work over night are absolutely the sweetest employees ever. The blonde one and the other black newish girl are always so sweet and welcoming. I'm not sure what's going on in this other girls life but it's been going on for as long as I can remember and she takes it out on customers. I used to live around the corner from this Walgreen's before I became a Yelp Elite member. It is my honor to be the Duchess of this Walgreen's as well as two others. I love Walgreen's. I can't even get my prescriptions filled at Walgreen's anymore due to my insurance and I still shop at Walgreen's way more than CVS. Why do I go there? The biggest reason, honestly, is for their cigarette prices. They have cheaper cigarettes than most gas stations around town and way cheaper cigarettes than other pharmacies. I don't condone smoking.... but if you already smoke maybe you should check it out. They also have good deals all the time. This time I was in search for Gatorade since I just came back from the beach. They had a 2/$3 deal going on. They always have deals on everything I buy from there. Even the cigarettes! They have $.50 off packs regularly. I use the app and score major Walgreen's points and great coupons. Those Walgreen's points are worth real money at Walgreen's! The only thing that sucks is you don't earn and cannot redeem points for tobacco purchases, as well as a few other things like alcohol or dairy. Walgreen's staff is also usually way better than a lot of other places. They train their staff well. Props to Walgreen's management. I used to get my prescriptions filled at this pharmacy a couple of years ago. I loved the pharmacy staff! They were always so nice and remembered my name and could pull me up in the system without me saying a word. They are an excellent pharmacy staff, and the pharmacy is open 24/7 along with the rest of the store! I have so many good memories at this Walgreen's. Will I return? Time and time again. I continue to be so disappointed with the Walgreen's pharmacy. I am going to give the employees the benefit of the doubt-they are probably overworked and exhausted. However, this is no reason to be rude and unhelpful. Often, when people are picking up prescriptions, they are sick or feeling unwell or stressed. How bad they are feeling should not be amplified by having to deal with employees who don't seem to care a bit about the customer. They have a corner on the market which is why I believe They get away with this. They are the only 24 hour pharmacy in the area and it's a nice Walgreen's. However, the convenience is not worth being treated poorly as a customer. Walgreen's-please hire more people, pay your people better and make their jobs more pleasant. If that's not the problem, hire people who do care and will make a trip to the pharmacy a little more pleasant next Time! read more

6:30AM and still the low country is getting hammered with strong winds and occasional downpours. Seems easier for me to purchase some needs that I will inevitably run low on. Option two is to begin the great excavation of my Ford Excursion to locate these items that I've not recalling its packed location. Tom's of Maine toothpaste (travel size) a new (lower end) toothbrush, Easy Rub (cheapest mid sized container) contact lenses solution Listerine, Walgreens brand dental floss -- apparently --- equals: Twenty nine and sixty two cents. $29.62. I'm one of three customers in the store, the other two are at the register, and have been for some time now. And the wait continues, the manager is called, these two are trying for something and they are absolutely relentless, even after three denials. Innocently enough, I suggest the idea of opening another register -- now I'm knee deep in a "I'm on a fixed income" mess The manager is clearly incapable of solving any of the moving parts of --- what I would call a non too uncommon occurrence, she just couldn't handle it. Finally she opens a register, gives a poor attitude but I couldn't give a hoot, I had a place to be and really didn't have an extra twenty minutes watching three yahoos bicker about a advertised price of a newspaper. read more

Pretty typical Walgreens, but it is fairly "new". The original store was located by the road, but when they needed to widen Folly Rd they tore down the store and relocated it with a shinier version behind where the old store was located. It has plenty of convenient parking at the newer store. Inside you will find all your Walgreens needs like bandages, cards, as seen on TV stuff, candies, and a full service pharmacy. It might not be perfect, but at least it's better than other drug stores. read more

I am typically always a fan of Walgreens but this one has spunk. It is 24 hours which is a great bonus. They always have great end of the aisle deals so I usually leave with more than I started with and they have a great staff. They are a little less responsive later in the evening but overall they do greet you with a smile. I am partial to this Walgreens, not just because it is the closest to me but because it is convenient and friendly. read more

I've seen the pharmacy and front staff be rude in the past, but this is always do to a combined occurrence. The customers are in a rush and typically look to be fairly uncomfortable, and an over worked staff. For instance, this morning they are just getting everything being stood up again after having to shutdown. The staff are swamped, there was a lady in here demanding her son get his COVID booster. The boy had been involved in a test trial that neither Walgreens or this local staff had helped with. You can understand the frustration on all sides of the issue. While there always a couple of people on staff I don't over enjoy dealing with, I also understand the current workforce environment and the issues that causes. Training in Customer Service is not always an absolute priority. My personal experience has nearly always been a pleasant, and because of my severe health issues I see this staff allot. read more

Nice 24 hour Walgreens on Folly. They recently built this location next to the old one to make room for the road expansion. The parking situation seems a little weird now, but at least there is plenty of it! This store gets extra points for being bright, new, and well organized. The aisles are clean and seemingly well stocked. Being so close to the beach, they have a decent amount of Folly beach and Charleston-y souvenirs. From a quick glance over, the prices seemed pretty reasonable. I always enjoy the seasonal section at Walgreens-- they go big for every holiday, which is often unnecessary, but fun. I have not visited the pharmacy here- we use the Bilo pharmacy for our prescription plan, so can't comment on it. There are always a few people milling around, despite the hour. Definitely recommend calling ahead whenever possible, I'm sure most people are waiting a bit for their stuff. You can drop of Fedex packages at this Walgreens, which is pretty cool! You just go up to the counter and let them know you have Fedex, and someone will pop up to scan and take your stuff! Super convenient, especially as there is no Fedex store nearby on the island. They generally could always use another cashier. Whenever I'm in the store, there is always a line a few people deep and it takes a few minutes to check out. read more

Absolutely the WORST pharmacy in Charleston. The pharmacists are AWFUL and rude. One man, Ed, even threatened to withhold my medication if I wasn't more grateful to him on the phone for filling a legitimate prescription on time. And when I asked his name he answered "The Pharmacist" and hung up on me. Somehow he kept his job even though I complained to management. Today, I waited on hold for 30 minutes before being hung up on deliberately (I didn't even have a chance to say a word) and a second time for 35 minutes and was disconnected. I'd already explained my simple issue (it's repeated every month by the same pharmacy) to at least two employees. I had my doctor call another script in (13 days later) and finally found out it got filled tonight at 11 pm because I had to call - once again. Ed answered. Not surprisingly, he was incredibly rude and unapologetic. What is wrong with this place??? Walgreens, you are the worst. read more

I was most recently a Rite Aid customer and had to use this Walgreens when the Rite Aid closed. New facility with friendly staff. The pharmacy, however, is not a fun experience. I had to wait over a half hour for a flu shot and when having a prescription filled, they lost the order and they have no mechanism to let you know when the order is ready ( or lost). I'm more of a CVS girl myself, but this Walgreens is nice enough for the standard drug store shopping. The staff isn't the friendliest, but the lines move quickly. Walgreens also has a large selection of gifts, candy and summer items during the season, which makes it a nice stop before the beach. I've used their pharmacy for a couple of months, but decided to switch. It was pretty slow to fill my prescriptions. They would not fill my prescription one day early. My doctor called them to make sure they had the product and wrote "ok to fill early" since I am going out of town. They simply said, "sorry, we don't fill early". Now I have to scramble to find someone who can fill it or cancel my flight! Completely insensitive. read more

This is a fun store to shop in 24 hours a day! They are a drug store and do have really good deals on medicine you have to take long term. 30 day suppys for only $10! Nice for those of use that need meds! They also have a great selection of cards and candy. Two very nice things to have handy when you want to make things happy at home! Get your photos made as well. i kind of feel like this is a waste of time writing as clearly the staff have no intention of improving their customer service inadequacies despite continuous reviews that provide constructive criticism. 1. They always have long lines and slow service. 2. they refuse to make eye contact or give you directives about how they want you to proceed in line or with questions and if you mistakenly move up to the counter after the previous customer vacated before they are ready for you, they rudely and embarassingly chastise you to stand back until they are ready - I guess they convey their readiness via ESP bc I've yet to figure out the system. 3. if you ask a brief question out of turn (like, do I stand in the prescription line if I'm here for my vaccin) you will get a condescending one word response and dirty look that says "how dare you ask a question out of turn" 4. I've waited as long as 30 minutes on hold to have a simple question answered (one that can't be answered automated operator) I could go on but what's the point - they probably don't read them and definitely don't plan to make improvements if the past is any indication of the future. I am from Indiana, was heading toward Folly Beach (near Charleston) SC, but left my prescription pillbox in a hotel room in Asheville NC as part of a two day drive. I called Walgreen's store number in Folly Beach, was handled extremely well by the person who answered the phone at about 7:30 on Sunday night. The immediate connection with information from Walgreen's in Indiana was impressive; and by 9:00 I was picking up an emergency supply of several pills. I transacted with three different Walgreen people; all were kind, patient and professional. They refused to release my prescription even though they stopped accepting my insurance. The girl lied to another pharmacist saying that the script didn't even exist. When I got someone on the phone I was told basically to suck it up and call my Dr to get another script called in to the other pharmacy. So they are basically holding my script hostage. It is not that ease to just "call the dr" for a replacement! Worst customer service I have ever received! They did the same thing when I needed to evacuate and I tried to get a script filled a couple of days early. Do yourself a favor and go to Walmart or a local pharmacy! read more

I would NEVER recommend a Walgreens pharmacy! I had to go into an express care early on a Sunday morning. The Dr. prescribe 4 meds , only 1 was new for me, so I had an idea of about how much it would be. I usually use Publix pharmacy but they did not open until 11:00 and I needed 1 of my scripts right away. I do not have health insurance so all my meds are out of pocket expense. When I got to Walgreens pharmacy he ask for my insurance card, told I was self pay, he said one of your meds is $231.00, another is $159. The other two together were $30. My mouth hit the counter! I said no way am I paying that. I Bought 1 med which was $9.88 and he told me Publix could call and get the scripts transferred. I called Publix at 11:00, told them the prices. She called me back, the singular that was $ 159 at Walgreens was $12.00 at Publix and the other that was $231 at Walgreens was $11.00 at Publix! I would have paid $421.00 at Walgreens! WTF! My total bill at Publix was $ 40.00. Walgreens doesn't even deserve 1 star! They are crooks!!! read more

We've been using the Walgreens located on Folly Rd., James Island since they opened that store. After they relocated to the new store, the drive-thru pharmacy service went down hill fast. The days of fast drive-thru are gone. When my turn came up (25 minutes later), I was told that my Rx order was denied by my insurance and that I should call them to find out why it had been denied. Frustrated, sick and overheated, I didn't inquire further. I went home, called Walgreens later in the evening to try and understand what the problem was since I pay out of pocket for that particular medication. According to the tech on the phone, I'm out of refills. I'm totally confused, seeing when I called in the refill over the phone earlier that morning, it had refills and they said it would be ready for pick up. I'm pretty forgiving which is why I haven't complained up until now, but this is ridiculous. As a pharmacy tech for over 15 yrs, I feel sure management needs to review with their employees on how to read patient profiles and give the customer accurate information. read more

The child working at this pharmacy was rude, insensitive and lacked basic knowledge of common medications. If you have an important medication that you need filled, send it to Rite Aid on Calhoun. This is hands down the worst Walgreens I have ever been to. The customer service is horrible- I was told when I came at 6:45 am to get a prescription filled that It would take an HOUR. There was no one else there and I had to be somewhere at 8 am. When I asked the pharmacist what was taking so long as I've been going to Walgreens for 15 years and never encountered this especially when I got up early and went to one 30 minutes out of my way since It was open 24 hours. he snapped at me and when I asked for clarification as to why It was taking so long he wouldn't answer and told me It would take longer If I was going to argue with him. I will never go back to any Walgreens ever again. And It took longer than an hour when I was the only one there. read more

This is by far the worst pharmacy I've ever used. I switched to this pharm recently after moving: I've had no refills go smoothly. - Twice: I called to check the cash price and was incorrectly quoted. - One of those times, they simply deleted the refill, so I had to call it in again. - Another refill, I received a call that there was a problem. I called to see what the issue was. I was on hold for literally 20 min. Finally, I got a person. I was told, "The pharmacist is busy." After 3 days, that Rx was filled. I was given the sticker shock, cash price. I asked if they had my insurance on file or if there was a problem. I said to the pharmacist, "I don't know why I can't get my Rxs correctly filled here." She replied, "We fill them every day, so I don't know what your problem is." I know my problem- walgreens. I, also know how to fix my problem, I'm finding a new pharmacy. Hopefully posting this will save someone a headache. Use a different pharmacy. read more
