Convenience store + mexican food? Couldn't ask for anything better! They have a variety of juice, soda, beer, wine, and Latin snacks, as well as household, personal, and car care items. Also have an ATM. Employees were nice. You order at the front counter and stand outside to wait for your food to be brought out to you. Ordered the chicken burrito (pico, rice, beans, shredded chicken, lettuce) and it was amazing. The chicken was well seasoned and tender. Other toppings complimented each other perfectly. Lines are always long yet we still come from James Island just for the carnitas- some of the most flavorful pork I have ever had and that's saying a lot for these neck of the woods. So let's talk about what we did get.....These guys must have been having a bad day...I got the veggie taco salad- I asked for no taco shell, but it comes with one if you want it- should've taken it- the salad was very small. My partner got the carne asada lunch plate. Flavor was great but it was chewy- Maybe a longer marinade time. Prices are very good- 9$ for not enough salad and large portion lunch plate was 10.99 with rice, beans and a soda, so that was good. What a treat to have this place recommended to me for its burgers by a Charleston foodie. Torres did not disappoint - cheddar cheeseburger came out piping hot wrapped in paper (only option is carry out) with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickles and a secret sauce. Sounds like a Big Mac and taste was a little reminiscent but 10x better. I ate this so quickly I forgot to stop and take a photo! Fries are frozen (I think) but they were properly crisped and well seasoned. Hard to imagine hand cut fries - seemed too uniform. $8.00 (plus tax) for this awesome combo is a steal!! Torres' is quite under rated. I am loyal to their veggie burrito that is also vegan. It's $8. The vegan burrito is the most satisfying burrito in town. I was referred to this hidden gem and upon arriving, I wasn't sure if I had the right spot. Entering, it is a store of convenience, but there is a huge menu above the counter. The lady who helped me was kind, patient and knowledgeable. But the food (steak burrito) was what stole the show for me! Get the spicy green sauce! Yum! Amazing spot for authentic Mexican burritos

Rode my bike up here at the suggestion of a friend who said that it was a must-see on our exploration of Charleston. We arrived right around noon, but the line for food wasn't that bad. You have to order at the front register (menu is above your head) and then go to the back and wait while the magic happens. I ordered the cheeseburger and a pork carnitas taco. I ate the taco first. The first bite that I took was without the tomatillo sauce, and although the flavor was there, it was really dry. After that, I put the sauce in my taco, and each bit thereafter was very enjoyable. The cheeseburger was loaded with goodness, and every bite, from the first to the last, was epic. You don't get many burgers like this, and so when you do, you want to savor the flavor and maximize the experience. I would definitely come back for another cheeseburger, but I'd probably pass on this particular taco. read more

My favorite so far have been the Carnitas. Comes with a nice and spicy salsa verde. Bring your appetite for one of these big boys though because they are filling. Oh my gosh! The burritos in the back of this store are hands down the best I've had. I love this place! The grocery store part is very small with minimal items beyond drinks, and only 3 aisles in the place. But tucked on the back wall is a taco truck style kitchen. Did I mention the burritos? Large hand rolled tortillas filled with rice, beans, steak (or chicken, shrimp, pork), pick and cheese. There's a line out the door everyday at lunch with all the locals on their lunch break. Order at the grocery counter, take your ticket and wait for the cook to call your number. The wait is about 10 minutes. Don't want to wait, call ahead. So worth the wait though!! read more

If you're looking for a quick, casual bite, this is your place. The best nachos in Charleston? I've finally found it. Torres' nachos is filled to the top of the styrofoam to-go box with loads of meat (I like the ground beef), lettuce, jalapeños, tomatoes, melted cheese, and sour cream. The meat has lots of flavor that I haven't found any place else. Nachos are just $6.99! It can't get better than that! They're Tacos Mexicanos (the steak is my favorite) are also delicious. Get 3 for $6.99. They come with slices of lime to squeeze onto the tacos and a yummy green chili sauce. They also have quesadillas, hot dogs, and burgers. Torres is only open for lunch Monday-Saturday from 11am-3pm. Order at the front of the store and save your receipt to give to the cooks in the back when they call your number. The word is out and it's getting more and more busy these days for lunch! Although it's on a busy street, there is a large parking lot. It's better than Santi's in my opinion! I stumbled across the Torres superette for the first time 5 days ago and I've already been back 4 times! They have a food counter at the back of the store that serves incredible Mexican food and also hot dogs burgers etc. they offer a very reasonable lunch special daily that usually includes a drink. I've tried the tacos, quesadilla, and fajitas and all have been delicious. The store is also extremely clean and all of the staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend supporting this local family owned business. I will be telling all of my friends! read more
