The pharmacist, Ryan was absolutely great. We we visiting in Charleston for our 32 wedding anniversary and my husband needed his asthma inhaler. As of lately that's been a hard script to fill anywhere. Well let's just say that Ryan never gave up with trying to make it happen. Took two days to get an essential prescription to get called in. Pharmacy closes at 7pm, store closes at 9pm. We arrive at 602pm. Do you think we were able to collect said prescription? No. Because we show up, along with about a dozen other people looking to get in, only to be told that the place closed at 6pm due to "staffing issues." Literally two people came to the door to tell us they had staffing issues when they literally were the staff!!! "I don't normally work at this location," the portly man told us. We are only passing through and we're supposed to leave at 6am. Now we have to wait until after 9 to get this script before we can safely leave town. Oh and I say after 9 because there is zero chance with the two staff it took to tell us they had no staff that it was actually filled when it was called in at 545pm. Garbage. read more

The Walgreens on Calhoun Street in Charleston is very convenient stop to get all of you basic needs from food and drinks to other necessities. I like that they have their own parking lot and it is very easy to get in and out of when you are in a hurry. The staff here is very friendly and does a good job providing good service. I have been able to find exactly what I was looking for every time that I have been here. read more

My first experience with this Walgreens was in the summer 0f 2020, Our previous drugstore in Charleston (a Walgreens) had closed. We were first sent to a King Street location, but the cashier there told me they were really for tourists, not locals and we would be better off at the Calhoun Street location. So not being able to get items we need I took the Cashiers advice and switched to the 261 Calhoun Street location. My first experience there was to pick up a prescription for my mother-in-law. I was a Friday evening. When I got to the counter and told the women we were new customers, she acted very cold and then asked what I needed, I told her I needed to pick up insulin for my mother-in-law. She said, It was available yesterday, but no one picked up so it was all sent back. I replied "but she needs this to stay healthy". She replied, "just sit there and wait, I'll refill it". So I that's what I did, I sat and waited until about 20 minutes later whenI saw the lights behind the pharmacy counter turn off. Finally another woman came out from behind the counter. She looked at me and said "sir, the pharmacy is closed". I replied. "But I was waiting on the other woman to to get an insulin prescription filled". She said, "that woman went out the back door ten minutes ago". Luckily my mother-in-law had enough left to get through until Monday. I'm not sure what's going on in this store. Since that experience, I've had other problems getting prescriptions filled. It has taken up to six visits to the store to get a prescription filled. read more

This Rite-Aid location deserves a 4 star review after a massive internal overhaul with more spacious aisles, better lighting, larger inventory, more check out space and a new fresh look and feel Aside from the location is a key advantage. Located near the hospital district, residential and student housing, this is very convenient for in and out needs. They sell beer and wine which does well downtown and their core staff is extremely pleasant. It is located next to Cannon Park of you ever need supplies for a picnic or food for you puppy or cat. read more

The pharmacy staff and pharmacists are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I've seen them have to deal with some rude and abusive customers and they handle themselves professionally. All other staff members are friendly as well and usually make a point to greet you on arrival. The store is well stocked with the usual pharmacy suspects plus a good selection of groceries, snacks, household items, and most importantly, ice cream. read more

This Rite-Aid is great for a quick trip to grab a forgotten item, pick up cold medicine, or stumble to on a Saturday for Saltines and Gatorade after a long Friday night. They have a great selection of your basic goods and have every health item you could possibly need. The pharmacy is efficient, however they do not appear to be knowledgeable in regards to the idiosyncrasies of insurance companies. When I have questioned the price of prescriptions, they were unable to provide me with a sufficient answer. I would highly recommend downloading the Rite Aid app, and you can easily refill your prescriptions on the go and pick them up later. Because this Rite-Aid has its own parking lot you won't have to spend twenty minutes finding parking. read more

Every time I come into this store, I feel like they have made some sort of change. It's not always for the best, but at least they are trying to make improvements. This location has a small grocery section with everything from beer and wine, to bread and microwave meals. There are clothing items, cards and magazines, toiletries, prescription medicines, make-up, seasonal items. You name it, you can probably find it here. I have a co-worker who lives downtown and they make a "Rite Aid" run about every week or two for household items. Prices seem to be very reasonable and I love shopping their sales. My office is only about a block away so we tend to frequent this location. There is also dedicated parking in the private lot that they share with the other businesses in the building. We mainly walk to and from, but it's convenient to make a pit stop when driving home too. There's always a parking spot available, and if for some reason there wasn't a spot, there is street parking on Ashley or Rutledge Avenue. read more

I filled a prescription here yesterday. It took 40 minutes for the technician to sort out my insurance (not so good) and two minutes for the pharmacist to fill. By itself probably a three star experience. The men's room and lack of response by store management lost one star and might well have been worth loosing two. It was disgusting and had clearly been neglected for a long time. A power washer would be the first step in sorting it out. How can such a biohazard have been allowed by management mere steps from the pharmacy? read more

On business travel, and my trip was extended by 8 days. Needed to get my prescription refilled. Wasn't time for a refill. Pharmacist called my insurance to get an override to refill earlier, which the complied with. Appreciated that she took the extra step for me. read more
