Got zero help when trying to check out. Wasnt even that busy in the store, just nobody around or willing to help me check out. our "neighborhood" Harris Teeter in Seaside Farms is on corporate death row. it is a shame Because of it convenience and fine, friendly staff. none of that matters to Corporate strategists would have decided to close the store. at this writing the employees do not know their fate within the organization. really sad for them. bad for us patrons who must drive some distance to reach another store. given the traffic issues in Mt Pleasant this is obviously problematic and inconvenient. let's put more cars on the road! in closing, you can reach the PR people at HT Corporate, but you cannot get any information as to why they are taking this action. Came here because this store contains the only Starbucks in the area that is open till 8 (everywhere else closes at 7). Staff was super nice, and though they were out of a lot of stuff, I can't be too upset about it because we came within an hour of closing, so it's perfectly possible it was there earlier in the day. I came in about 11:40 am. Asked for an Italian sub on 3 cheese bread. Ms Annette did an excellent job on my sandwich. However the Second Lady named Evette. I told her my condiments. And when I asked her for extra onions. She claimed the only have a little bit left. So she didn't do what I asked her. I also asked her to cut the sandwich into 4 pieces. She said she could only cut into three pieces. So I'm having trouble feeding my three little ones because the sub isn't cut right. My thing is she's there to do a job and however I wanted the sandwich she should've done it how I asked. I feel if I was a white person who asked for the same thing it wouldn't have been a problem. Being from Florida I was amazed when I stepped into Harris Teeters on East Bay. Aisles and aisles of hot sauces, condiments, well-stocked butcher case, fresh produce from local plantations. Actually blew me away. Oh, and I forgot, even in a tourist area, the prices aren't as outrageously priced as the monopoly in the Sunshine State. We bought 10 ears of fresh corn for $2, 5# of yellow potatoes for $2.99. Then stopped at the butcher case with Prime ground beef $4.99/lb, tomahawk pork chop $8.99/lb, tomahawk ribeye $12.99. And! Next we saw the Kosvlciusko spicy mustard, Lillie's BBQ sauce, Wickles spicy red sandwich spread, rice vinegars all at great prices and available to purchase. The in-house freshly baked bread was ok, typical Boars head cold cuts. Yes, loved this store and the friendly staff. Very clean with a fair size parking lot. Who buys groceries on vacation? This grocery store is pretty big for being in downtown st pete. The prices are not cheap but they have some really good deals and buy one get one free (bogo) deals throughout the store, the store is clean and easy to navigate. There's ample self checkout counters as well. The hours are great! Opens at 6am and closes at 11pm (I believe). It was a short walk from our hotel at Hilton club so super convenient. read more

Unfortunately, there is not one very close to my house so I do drive about 20 to 30 minutes to get to Harris Teeter depending on traffic. Usually always have but I'm looking for the only thing I find disappointing is if I want to buy a Starbucks cup or bag of coffee I have to wait in line behind of Starbucks, you cannot purchase these in a regular checkout line. Other than that, the staff is always super helpful. If I have questions in the checkout, staff is usually so so nice. read more

This is a pretty decent sized supermarket in the middle of Charleston with parking. The fruit and vegetable section is great and prices are pretty good. It's never been too busy when I've been in here so checkout is swift. read more

We'd been on the hunt for She-Crab Soup Mix while vacationing in the SE. with no luck....until going to Harris Teeter in Charleston. Nice grocery store! Has pretty much anything you need or want, clean store and VERY nice employees! Figured if they had She-Crab soup mix, it'd be in the "soup" isle but it wasn't there, figured we were out of luck. Went to the service desk and the friendly clerk said "oh, we keep that right here....." and he walked us to the display. Another nice employee came up and said the "82 Queen She-Crab mix is the BEST". So we stocked up to make it at home. Sure wish we had a Harris Teeter grocery store here by us!!! Good fresh fruit with a decent selection but no peaches. Got a val card from customer service and saved 30% pff the order. They have a store card available at the register but I wanted my own. Prices seem higher then what I am used to. All in all a nice experience. read more

Late night snack run, this Harris Teeter is very close to the bottom end of Charleston and that makes it very convenient. Amazingly open 24 hours, too! Full service supermarket with a large produce section, a great looking bakery and butcher, tons of grocery items and a full service pharmacy that had exactly what I needed at 11:00 at night! Plenty of registers open. I think parking might be a challenge during busier times. read more

If you're travelling on a budget in Charleston, this grocery store is a God send. Great place to pick up affordable baked goods, fruits, or deli items so you don't have to dine out 2-3 times a day. And at downtown Charleston prices for eating out, you could easily save $30/person/day. With the savings, you can splurge on activities or super special lunch or dinner. This store is less than 10 minute walk from the busy city market area, and also convenient to aquarium and/or Fort Sumter ferry location. They are part of the Kroger chain so prices are very good, and national specials and club cards are honored. Additionally, they have daily deli specials (e.g. whole rotisserie chicken or 8 pieces of fried chicken or $5). There are really no other big grocers in the downtown area, so this is the place to stock up for any stays longer than 3 days in Charleston. Large free parking lot too. read more

Harris Teeter on East Bay Street is a great place to shop for groceries. As one of the few grocers on the Peninsula and the closest and only option within walking distance to the middle of Charleston it is a good option that has a lot to offer. I like that it is open 24 hours and it has really come through on some late nights. I like the design and layout of the store with all of the exposed bricks and the different sections and designs and murals all over the walls. The staff here is wonderful and does a lot to make sure that you have everything that you need and a really good shopping experience. I like that there is free and plentiful parking when you need it and it is easy to get in and out of. This Harris Teeter delivers on what a grocery store should be in all aspects. read more

Self service rude with harassing me about looking in my container to see what I got and not trusting me to ring right item

Harris Teeter is a Charleston staple, and we have them all over the place in the Charleston area. The peninsula only has one Harris Teeter, and it's the best grocery store you can access without crossing a bridge. Still, it's not my favorite Harris Teeter in the area. The East Bay location is your typical Harris Teeter, but a much smaller store than some of the others. It's a bit older and worn on the edges, but it has everything you need. There's a Starbucks inside, so you can sip on coffee while shopping, and you can browse the internet with the free wifi. The store's layout is a bit odd, with the meats, produce, and loaves of bread on one side, but the baked goods, deli, and beer/wine on the other. Frozen foods are smack-dab in the middle of the store. The most puzzling part of the layout is that Harry the Dragon's sugar cookies are beside the customer service desk. Maybe management is keeping a watchful eye to make sure the cookies are for kids and not "kids of all ages". Pros: * Closest grocery store to the cruise terminal, so pick up your last-minute needs for the ship here. * College discount with ID. * Great VIC card specials and sales, and everything is in stock because downtowners don't coupon as much as West Ashleyans and Mount Pleasant-eers. Cons: * Closest grocery store to the cruise port, and you can tell when the ship's in town because it's packed! * The checkout lines are always long, even the self checkout. I think they need more registers. * No parking lot exit directly on East Bay Street, and both streets around the store are one-way. Cars *always* turn the wrong way. read more

If you were in downtown Charleston and you need a grocery store that has a drugstore and wine the Harris Teeter is a great store. It reminds me of central market back home although I didn't try the deli which at the central market back in Plano is really terrific. The items we purchased were fresh and based upon my wife's brilliant suggestion we got a Styrofoam cooler and use the hotel eyes to have some nutritious snacks at night rather than going out into the downtown area and eating at one of the high calorie places not that there's anything wrong with that! read more

So I typed in Whole Foods Near Me and the only one in Charleston was about 20 minutes outside of town so instead about 5 "Harris Teeter's" popped up and was like hmmm with a name like that can't be good. However a journey to the local grocery store happened late at night and I went exploring the local fare and turned out to be a great adventure. The entrance is odd with stairs and a long ramp I'm guessing for the snow or flood waters?? The store itself is pretty packed in, great selection of produce, gluten-free items, and whatever else you may need. They did have a huge meat and cheese selection and I'm guessing since they're close to New York which is a big thing. A lot of the store items remind me of a Texas grocery store with a lot of the same vendors. They could expand on the gluten-free selection and improve the layout but overall the brick arches and cool quaint feel was pretty legit to venture outside of a corporate industrial HEB complex. Open 24-7, this "Teeter" tries to be all things to all people, and actually does an OK job. Whether you're shopping for a gourmet meal, or just making a beer run, you have a pretty decent chance of finding what you're looking for. And you can drink Starbucks coffee while doing it. Unfortunately, this is not a tightly run operation. My bags have made it into other customer's carts (hope miscellaneous frat boy in front of me enjoyed the veggie burgers), computers have malfunctioned, price checks have been called... And there's always some guy trying to convince you to use the self-checkout. It's not enough that you just don't want to, he needs a REASON. If you have a car, spend the gas money on a trip to James Island. The Folly Rd HT has all of the selection, wider aisles, cleaner floors, and better service. read more

I've been to this location a few times, but it's very out of the way for me from where I live, so I only come here when I'm downtown on East Bay. It pretty much has everything I'm looking for, and it's set up in a very relaxing and easy to find stuff kind of way. Today I just tried a few muffins for breakfast, and some milk bones for my dog, and with my Vic card I saved a little bit of cash too.
