This is the best supermarket in Mount Pleasant, or in general I'd say. Everyone who works here is great. They are kind and polite in a genuine way, not a mechanical way with rote responses. Publix always puts customers first. During the hurricane chaos, they remained open without forcing employees to stay, only those that wanted to. It's the day before Thanksgiving today, and about 4pm. There is no parking available in the Publix lot so I was dreading what to expect inside the store. Surprisingly pretty calm! Shelves were being continually stocked with all the holiday needs. I asked for assistance 3x and was physically shown exactly where my item was, once by a manager. I was wished Happy Thanksgiving bu pretty much everyone and again, not in a rehearsed way. All cash registers were open and there were no long lines. The best thing I like is the variety of people that work here. From young school aged kids to much older "kids" who are probably post retirement. There are middle aged professional looking men and women, to the college student type. All walks of life can be seen here, all seeming to be happy to be working here. There are several adults with special needs that work here too and I was asked if I needed help from a young man who had Down's syndrome. He led me to what I needed and he told me all about his Thanksgiving and wanted to know about everything about mine. It made my day! Someone was interested in my little Thanksgiving!!! Without hesitation, I would say that a store where the workers are happy to work there is a store I support. My grocery needs are met, I'm happy whilst I shop, it's clean, I am assisted in every way, and I leave feeling content. Why would I go anywhere else? read more

Deli dept is very disappointing. I would not order a sandwich on line from them again. I ordered 3 subs via their website 1 hr and 1/2 in advance and prepaid. I still waited 25 mins while they began to fix them. Why does Publix offer a service when they can't fulfill it? Why doesn't management pull another staff to help behind the counter during peak hours? The workers were going full tilt but should know to prioritize a prepaid online order that was placed well in advance and to be picked up at a designated time instead of waiting until the customer arrives to begin making it. I decided to use Publix for my sons Wild One birthday cake! It turned out so cute and was delicious so I wanted to share it. Because it was a first birthday cake, we also got a complimentary matching smash cake that was also a "smashing" hit. The ordering of the cake was super easy, they just fill out the form and give you a copy and you pick it up at the agreed upon time. Easy peasy. This Publix is a back up store for my grocery shopping, and usually just stop here if in the area. I hate the parking lot, just not big enough for the volume of shoppers. But inside the store is large, clean, and well stocked. The deli is big and always busy, and the store has the other typical departments like produce, meat & seafood and a pharmacy. Everything you need and want, and these departments are clean, well stocked and maintained. The main grocery area is organized and always full, though I get lost as I don't know the layout. Publix service is typically friendly and on point, and they provide really good Customer Service. This store is a good neighborhood store. read more

I come here all the time for my prescriptions, and when I am here, I like to get a sub. Mike the guy running the stand was the most ignorant person I've ever met. He would roll his eyes at an elderly woman, because she wanted her sub cut into fours And he would act and look at me like I was stupid every time I said something he would throw ingredients back when he made the sandwich wrong and throw a baby tantrum. I love this Publix! I always worry about what I would do if I ever moved out of the Park West area because I would need to find somewhere new to shop and am destined to be disappointed. I could site so many instances of amazing customer service, but I don't have all day. I'm not sure what their hiring process is, but they should stick with it. How do places like Publix do what others can not? I don't understand. They have some how magically engineered people to actually give a shit about their customers... I know, it's crazy! Justin in the Deli is my absolute favorite. He knows everyone by name and is genuinely one of the nicest people I have ever met. He goes above and beyond his job duties every day. I once got into a conversation with a manager about how great of an employee he was, which the manager has been told time and time again. He let me know that the head honcho of Boars Head was in shopping one day (I guess he has a house down here or somethin) and he spoke to the manager before leaving to let him know that Justin was the best deli employee he's ever seen... anywhere. Pros - clean store, employees are curtesy, shelves usually stocked Cons - most expensive grocery store. Most items are 20-50% more than any other grocery store in the area. If it's on sale it's the normal price at any other store. Also, they have a very limited selection. Parking lot is small so always packed. This is an emergency grocery store for me. I actually drive farther to go to Harris Teether or Lowes which have larger selections and better pricing. read more

I came here during the Hurricane scare and were surprised at not only were they open but well staffed. The staff were happy to be working and were extremely friendly and helpful. The store was well stocked and ready for the onslaught of customers. It was packed inside and i feared the checkout would take forever. I gathered up some goodies and some essentials and headed for the checkout. It went smooth and fast. I was so surprised. I am guessing that due to Publix being a Florida based chain they know how to deal with these type of instances and handled it awesome. I really enjoy coming to this Publix for my grocery needs. This is a really nice full service Publix complete with a pharmacy. They have an ample selection of groceries here and the staff is super friendly. While parking her can be a bit tricky due to all the soccer moms with their big SUVs whirling around the lot you can usually find a good spot. The store and store grounds are kept clean representative of a store in the Park West area. Inside the store they have a great full service pharmacy with helpful pharmacists, fresh produce section, great bakery/deli, and meat department. The staff here is always friendly and will go out of their way to help you find what you need. read more

The best thing about this supermarket is Justin. He used to work in deli, but he has been moved to stocking for some reason. It's a shame. He remembered every single person and what they would usually order. This man should not be stocking shelves. With his level of customer service, he should be the boss. This is my 2nd time attempting to try to shop at Publix and I'm convinced it's worst supermarket in the area, produce and veggies are either wilted or rotting, deli people are rude, meat is old and customer service is nonexistent. Quite frankly all of the Publix stores are the same in Mt. Pleasant including the one in Old Village. Going to stick to Harris Teeter where quality of food and choices is much more superior and not a dump of a supermarket like the Publix that hasn't been updated since the 90's. read more

It is my top pick for grocery stores and trust me I've lived everywhere you can imagine and have shopped at a multitude of grocery chains from Connecticut to California and from civilian to DOD. I have never had a complaint about this store and their employees go above and beyond. If I can't find it an employee will and if they don't carry it they do their best to get it for you. This Publix is awesome. The parking is really convenient and it's right in Park West. The employees are knowledgeable about their area and food. Whenever I'm in the produce section and have a question, the employee can answer it for me. Speaking of employees, any time that I pass one, they ask how my day is or if they can help me. They also take you right to the item that you are asking about. There is no pointing you in the general direction. The cashiers also try to strike up a conversation. Then, let's not forget that they ask to take your groceries to your car. I teach middle schoolers and always recommend Publix as their first place of employment. This business has it down. read more

I love Publix stores but this one takes the cake for the most rude employees.. I thought after my first experience with the deli, that maybe she was just having a bad day. I had asked for what I wanted, she asked about anything else so I told her the next thing on my list and she told me to go grab the pre sliced ham out of the cooler.. I went over and looked at it and came back to tell her I'd still like her to slice some ham for me as I like it quite a bit thinner. She then proceeded to throw it on the counter and walk away.. I then had to tell her I needed another order and as she is slicing my next order she asks, "is there's anything else you need" in a very rude tone.. I responded and confirmed the amount and she said, "I asked if you needed anything else" now being even more rude. My three yr old son says that he'd like another sprinkle cookie.. so I go back up to the bakery and ask if it's ok to get another cookie, and the gal back there is also rude... responds with, "well, we only allow one cookie per person," so respond with, well, he can have mine... since I didn't get one. I have only ever asked for another cookie for my kids one other time and they have always been so gracious (at a different store) I then proceeded to ask another store clerk about an item and they respond with I don't know.. go ask customer service, which I was just shocked, because at the store I usually go to (and most others) they always ask if I found what I needed and if you say no they will look it up to see how many they have in the store and where to find it. At least to end the horrible shopping experience the girl bagging went to find the item and was very pleasant and sweet! I'm not sure what is going on at that store... but they need a serious attitude adjustment! read more

Love shopping at this grocery store. Although the sevice in the deli has been very disappointing the last 6 months in comparison to all the other departments. The deli employees are not friendly or simply ignore customers while chatting with each other or doing something in the back (but where they clearly see the customer). On busy Sundays during lunch time they're often completely out of their delicious chicken and have not even started to cook more. While I'm shopping all the other areas of the store the employees always greet me and ask if I need help. And although this pharmacy is one of the few places with available vaccine, the unbelievably rude pharmacist told me that she was too busy to give me the injection. Love this store. The staff are cordial, pleasant, and very helpful. The manager is always there offering to help. He even went to the back looking for the 'right size' turkey I wanted for Thanksgiving last year. The bakery has amazing cakes. We moved from another state and I was used to getting the specialty cakes from Whole Foods, but the one here was very disappointing, so I was thrilled when I tried the cakes at the Publix bakery. They were excellent. I have tried several of them to date and have never been disappointed. The Raspberry Elegance is one of my favorites.
