It was Joe who actually suggested that we check out W & G after all, we love Langdon's and Opal, the other restaurants in the Owens Dining Group. Not finding any mention of reservations on-line, I called mid afternoon (yes, someone picked up the call!) and was told that reservations were not taken and that table service started at 4:00 pm. As we often skip lunch on Saturday opting to dine early we arrived at 4:30 pm and was seated right away at the one table for two by the window. Our server, Erin, stricken with laryngitis, struggled to be heard above the blasting Motown era playlist as she explained that while 'table service' started at 4:00 pm, the only menu options available before 5:00 pm were beverages or from the raw bar. OK, though I was craving a Caesar, I was hungry and yes, the shrimp would work! Joe started with a glass of the Chianti Classico ($10.00), the least expensive option among the reds. The pour was acceptable and he enjoyed it. My Bloody Mary arrived in a highball glass ... and while it was tasty (I love the Zing Zang mixer) ... there was way too much crushed ice and not enough beverage. It was gone in a few sips ... so disappointing. And while I don't recall the price it was probably around $10.00 based on the other cocktail prices posted on the on-line menu. Neither the menu, nor Erin, mentioned that the shrimp selection ($14.00) was 'peel and eat' and though it became obvious when the shell bowl and hand wipes were placed on the table, clarification should have been made at the time our order was placed for diners who may not be familiar with the preparation. The shellfish quickly arrived ... wow ... 12 large (bordering on jumbo) heavy, local, chilled and lightly seasoned (think Old Bay) beauties served in a mound on a tray of ice. Both the key lime aioli (smooth and creamy) and cocktail sauce (tangy with a dab of horseradish) were tasty; however, the portions of each were so small to really make an impact. We were completely underwhelmed with our pizzas. First, they were over cooked and in some spots, burnt, but more disappointing, Joe's Salsiccia ($16.00), composed of tomato, fennel sausage, greens and ricotta, was too short on sausage (four thin, small slices) and while every nano inch of my veggie selection, the Pesto ($15.00), with roasted eggplant, mozzarella, feta, capers, corn and yellow cherry tomatoe halves was covered, I only counted 3 slices of eggplant. No, we were not happy. If you are considering checking out W&G there are a few things you should know. (1) It is not family friendly so leave the kids at home. (2) By 5:30 pm, the small dining room and every seat at the bar was filled. (3) If you are looking for a great Happy Hour deal, keep looking as there are no specials. (4) The menu is small ... so check it out on-line to be sure everyone in your party will be satisfied. (5) There is no carpet to help absorb sound and the music is very loud so don't plan on meaningful conversation. In my opinion, a concept like Wood & Grain would be a great option in a large hotel, or resort and for I'on et al. locals wanting after an after the theater (movie, concert) lite bite but with closing at 10:00, for the latter, it's not an option. I've been shopping at this Harris Teeter a bit more lately after my morning long runs, and it's been a pleasant experience. It is a smaller store, so it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some Harris Teeter's. There's no Starbucks or Pharmacy, but if you just need to buy groceries, it's a great option. The grocery selection has increased since it converted from Piggly Wiggly a few years ago, and the cashiers are always very nice. I haven't had to wait long, and they haven't been out of anything I needed. The sale prices are always well marked. I also visited this Harris Teeter on the morning of the Cooper River Bridge Run, and they were so courteous to the runners, allowing us to use their bathrooms, wait in their warm store (it was cold and wet that morning), and buy items like bananas for a last-minute snack. It was quite a convenient place to park for the Bridge Run, as the bag drop is right there and the return shuttle bus drops you off at this intersection. Mt. Pleasant has a ton of grocery stores, but this one's a solid option if you're on the way to Sullivan's Island or just need groceries in Mt. Pleasant. read more

Since the conversion from Piggly Wiggly to Harris Teeter not much has changed in this store except maybe the signage, store brand foods, and floor being swept. It looks exactly as it did when it was the Pig. The layout was the same, the same rude employees still there (not all are rude, but a few). I was hoping that after the conversion that I was going to walk into a store that had been renovated to be more like a Teeter; but it just didn't feel like a Teeter. Although I'm not too big of a fan right now, it does appear they may still be making improvements. One thing I noticed was they are bringing back the growler selection to this store. read more

while checking out i observed a manager relentlessly pressuring someone to buy one of the stuffed animals by the check out. he was trying to manipulate the child against her parent, he carried the stuff animal over and set it on the register even after the parent said they were not going to buy it multiple times. she even explained why they weren't buying it but he continued to pressure by trying to entice the child. it was awkward to be around. the rest of the staff was really nice and helpful though read more

one of my favorite HTs! This location features a salad bar with loads of fresh fruit as well as a hot bar which rotates throughout the day. Great atmosphere in here with an easily maneuverable layout, fun floors, and friendly staff. And of course in a great location, will be returning again! read more

Nice neighborhood grocery store, very good produce section and always good weekly specials. They offer fresh sushi and a sub counter. I use their order ahead option on their website, so I normally don't have to wait. They also offer a salad, lunch/dinner, and on weekends, breakfast bars. The breakfast bar is great because you can just load your container with a pound of cooked bacon for cheap. They are open 24 hours. read more

They are not being up front about products in stock I went in to buy paper towels as I was walking in I passed 2 vehicles that were being loaded from on line ordering and saw multiple packages of paper towels when I get in the store absolutely no paper towels anywhere to be found when I asked about how this happens the clerk looked around and said she was not sure how that happens. read more

I love this store! The customer service people are the best! Helpful, willing to make things right, no matter what the issue. The deli people are helpful when you can get someone--they might be under-staffed. The fresh bread area is frequently vacant and I have to track someone down to get bread. This was not always the case. It is a smaller store, so I often have to get a rain check and go to another store for items. It would be logical if their computer system would tell customer service which stores had the item, so no one had to call each store. That's just bad business practices on the part of corporate. read more

Love this store since moving to the Mt. Pleasant area. However, management needs to teaching bagging 101, you don't pack, bacon, pork chops, chicken and beef all in one bag!! Cold stuff gets bagged with cold stuff and dry and boxed, and then cleaning products, etc. I am 52 as for as long as I remember, meats of different animals were not packed together. Avoid the cold cut and sandwich counter at all costs. The service is poor and the staff are slow and unfriendly. Hopefully once the renovations are done they will pull it together. read more
