Published on Main - Vancouver, BC We chose Published on Main for dinner because it's one of the participating restaurants where we could use our Amex Platinum dining credit. Since it's also a Michelin-starred restaurant, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally experience it. Our dinner lineup was: Aebleskiver Milk Bun Belgian Endive Dungeness Crab GBP Gnocchi BBQ Beef Striploin Most of the dishes are designed for sharing, with the exception of the Aebleskiver, which is served individually, so we ordered two. It's a round, savoury dough with herbs and pine nuts, topped with Kaluga caviar. The dough itself was delicious, but the caviar wasn't quite to my taste. I prefer caviar with that distinct salty, creamy and buttery flavour, while I found this particular Kaluga very mild and almost tasteless. Everything else, however, was fabulous. Dungeness Crab - My absolute favourite of the evening. Beautifully executed and packed with flavour. Belgian Endive - A very close second and probably one of the biggest surprises of the meal. Who knew endive could be this memorable? BBQ Beef Striploin - The Michelin-worthy dish for me. Beautifully prepared and a great way to finish our savoury courses. The Milk Bun and GBP Gnocchi were also excellent and rounded out the meal nicely. The atmosphere is polished but not overly formal--I'd describe it as business casual. Most guests were dressed accordingly; you could probably count on one hand the number who weren't. Despite the restaurant being busy, I didn't find it loud at all. We could comfortably chat and hear each other throughout dinner, which I really appreciated. Service was cordial, professional and knowledgeable. Each dish was presented with a clear description, adding to the overall dining experience without making it feel overly ceremonial. Overall, Published on Main lived up to its reputation. With the exception of the caviar not being to my personal taste, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The Dungeness Crab alone is something I would happily return for. Definitely a restaurant I would recommend to friends and family--especially for a special occasion or if you're looking to put that Amex Platinum dining credit to very good use!

We were a table of 5 and were told about 10 dishes would be a good amount of food for us. She said if she felt like we needed more or to double up on a dish she would let us know. The servers that brought us our food were great at explaining each dish. The burrata was smooth and creamy. The focaccia that came with it, was huge and had a nice flavor to it. The candied pine nuts and cherry toppings were a really nice addition to the dish. The beef tar tar was tasty and slightly acidic. We had the Elk served rare, and it was delicous, but I didn't liked the cubed pieces. The stuffed pappardelle was soo good. I liked the hint of lemon, as it really elevated the dish. The duck with beet sauce was so nice. The duck had a nice crispy skin. The beets were one of my favorites. They were slightly acidic and sweet. The summer beans were very smooth and not like previous bean dishes that I have tried. The milk buns with butter didn't have much flavor, but the bun itself was nice and fluffy. The Octopus' sauce was so good and the Octopus itself was tender. I found the Maitake a bit too salty for me, but otherwise it was enjoyable. The Lambchetta was our least favorite dish of the night. It was a touch salty and had a hint of hoisin to it. The strawberry mille flavors were good, but the puff was a bit dry. The strawberry gelato was my favorite dessert. The gellee was nice as well. Walk through the forest dessert sounded interesting, but didn't hit the spot. I didn't really enjoy the mushroom flavor. It reminded me of Chinese herbal medicine. The coffee flavor wasn't bad. Our server was great at advising when she didn't think one of the desserts would be good to share as a table. This restaurant would be great for a celebration or date night. 4.5 stars

We ended up in what we thought was probably the best table in the house. Server was friendly and attentive. Sommelier recommended a lovely super Tuscan we were unfamiliar with but really enjoyed. Tasting menu was nice, we each chose different things so we could try a little but of everything. The fried chicken style miatake mushrooms with garlic dip was probably my favorite bite. The game hen was reminiscent of Korean fried chicken. Super crispy but not like American fried chicken heavy laden with batter. It was tasty and crunchy. Overall we enjoyed everything we were served and had a great meal. Would definitely recommend and come back.

Published on Main was hands down the best restaurant I've eaten at in Vancouver this trip and honestly in a long time. I ate at two other tasting menu spots while I was here and this place was a clear winner. It's a one Michelin star restaurant and absolutely lives up to the hype. We did the tasting menu and every single course was delicious. There were a lot of flavor combinations I'd never had before, and the presentation was on point. They took the time to explain each dish, which I really appreciated. The chef clearly focuses on seasonality and local ingredients, so the menu changes by season. This tasting menu was themed around "Preservation," which made the experience even more interesting. The ambiance was top notch. The space felt warm, intimate, and thoughtfully designed, which really elevated the whole experience without feeling stuffy or overdone. The pacing was perfect, about two hours total, and I left very full and very happy. Can't wait to come back.

We have put off visiting the restaurant for almost 3 years since moving back to Vancouver after an absence of 10 years so we decided it would be time to pay a visit for our anniversary a week before Christmas. Service was exceptional. Both the maître d' and our server were friendly and helpful. We opted to order from the regular and seasonal à la carte menus for dinner: - Brezeln - The pretzel buns were soft and warm and we could not resist putting a big glob of the honey cultured butter on every bite. - Octopus - The tentacles were tender and springy at the same time. The slight heat from the sauce was perfect in cutting through the richness of the meat. - Chicken fried maitake - The coating was very flavourful but we found the the seasoning a bit too heavy. - Scallops - They were fresh and sinfully delicious with the sauce. - Sunchoke Dumplings - A dish with simple ingredients but it was easily the most flavour rich and balanced dish of the evening. - Hunters Chicken - I like that both dark and white meats were served on the dish. Although I generally stay away from white poultry meat but all the pieces were tender and juicy. The seasoning was a bit on the saltier side for us though. - Hay - The custard dish was interesting and we were told it's been the most popular dessert offering since the restaurant doors opened. It reminds me of a deconstructed tres leches cake from a restaurant on the North Shore years agar when I was hoping for a good piece of cake.

Fantastic. I was impressed. I experienced chef's creations in Toronto when he collaborated with Aburi Hana and while that was decidedly "ok" this was much better and shows that it's important to try the chef's home kitchen before deciding on their talents. I had the tasting menu so no point in highlighting dishes as they won't be the same. What I would share is that several plates shows a nice complexity of flavour where the taste changes as you chew/eat it. That's the signature of a great chef.

This restaurant was one of the stops on our Michelin Mile tour on Get your Guide (get Brian as your guide, if you can) It was a fun experience with the small bites and the drinks.

Another Michelin-starred restaurant in Vancouver that truly deserves all its accolades. Their cocktails were amazing- borderline dangerous because they were so smooth and you couldn't really taste the alcohol. I highly recommend Figgy Sins (if it is still on the menu). The wine pairing was good too for the most part. There were one or two pairings that were off but the staff was kind enough to replace the pairings with different options. The whole experience lasted over 2.5 hrs. For a tasting menu, we got a LOT of food and my friend and I were so full towards the end- we struggled to get through the main course and the desserts. The dishes were very creative, packed a lot of flavors and were delectable. Service was amazing as well. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable. Overall, it was a greay experience. I highly recommend Published on Main.

This place fires on all cylinders and is very deserving of its Michelin star. We couldn't decide what to eat so we split 5 dishes. Three dishes per person is recommended, but we left plenty satisfied after those 5 dishes and 2 desserts, a peach seasonal and the chocolate mousse with peanut butter and banana ice cream. We didn't intend to order 2 desserts but the first was so good, we had to try a second. For the 5 dishes, we split the: - Pea tortelli - Gnocchi - Salmon - Duck breast - Beef Everything we ate was world class, elegant and carefully crafted. The ambiance is inviting and classy, but casual at the same time. The service is spot on and was very helpful with recommendations. I would say this is a must-do dining experience in Vancouver. Make sure you book in advance.

We went here on a recommendation and celebrated our birthdays. It was a beautiful spot to enjoy for a special occasion and we were so full by the end of the delicious meal! We hardly had room for dessert. Everything was so rich and incredible. I loved my cocktail, I forget the name but it was a seasonal selection. Beautiful ambiance and excellent service.

I got a reservation for the Flourish tasting which has 10 courses. Lasted almost 4 hours. 1) Foraged mushroom and onion and elderflower gel with forest flower around the rim cold soup. Flavorful. Have to sip where the forest flowers are for max flavor. 2) Snacks round 1: radish in nuoc cham with cilantro and basil with crispy garlic chips underneath. kohlrabi cured with xo sauce and citrus segments withe apple mint leaf, triangle is roasted golden beet, horseradish sabayon topped with saffron gel and bee pollen garnish and smoked and candied steelhead with pickled spruce tips underneath is nori creama and kelp crostad Best to mix the nuoc cham on the bottom because otherwise you may just get a full on taste of just undiluted fish sauce on the radish. Rest of the snacks were very light. 3) Side stripe shrimp, nasturium, tobiko, Koji oil and nori cold chawanmushi. Light and I got twice the shrimp because my friend didn't want her shrimp. 4) Snacks round 2: Aebleskiver with dungeness crabs and herbs inside with tarragon emulsion on top and bottom with poached crab on top, right is tomato basil tart with brisee shell with basil cream and sliced tomato on top with olive oil gel and balsamic oil pearls, foie gras NRG foie gras parfait on strawberry cashew miso crumb topped with strawberry rose gel freeze dried strawberry gel and Malden salt and left is summer sausage with avonlea cheddar with raspberry mostarda. Really enjoyed the crisp brisee shell. Aebleskiver was tastefully done with crab inside and on top as well as the tarragon emulsion. 5) Spring bounty: Summer bounty...everything fresh from their garden, turnip, brassica, radish, summer gold tomato, English pea shoots, shiso leaf, herbs. Has cucumber and smoked zucchini. Beurre blanc sauce underneath 6) Smokey beef tallow emulsion, elderberry condiment, pickled spruce tip and wagyu on sourdough grissini. Had wished the grissini was a bit crisper and that the wagyu was a bit warmer. 7) Cornflake crusted Manitoba pickerel with summer legumes English peas and snap peas and fava beans, pickled elderflower and capers underneath. Elderflower butter sauce, had lemon juice with parsley oil. Nice crunch. Flavorful 8) Dry aged duck breast, roasted heirloom tomato with duck and rose jus, duck confit, wild mushroom broth, duck heart and duck gizzard on skewer, duck rillette and duck chips with stuffed morel mushroom I enjoyed the duck breast, duck chips and duck rillette. Had to drink the wild mushroom broth to swallow the heart and gizzard (I'm not a big offal eater) 9) Cornbread dish: Palm kernel halva, smokey stone fruit, Brunost cheese on the cornbread. Felt like the cheese overpowered the cornbread. 10) Boozey Freezie: has no alcohol. Made of elderberry cordial, white cranberry juice and verjus (young grape juice) 11) DIY sundae. Milk in house ice cream and milk crumble on bottom, pumpkin miso caramel, fresh blueberries, with alpine strawberries, in house flowering shortbread, in house made brandied cherries, praline puffed grains and seeds, house made Douglas fir marshmallow Really liked the pumpkin miso caramel however the pumpkin flavor is very light. Douglas fir marshmallow was a nice touch same with the milk crumble. Parting desserts: box with two truffles.. one has strawberry and elderflower with Valhrona chocolate and the other is rosehip and speculoos Sweet grass ice cream sandwich, lemon verbena wild rice krispy Strawberry and rhubarb pat du fruit and flaxseed with hempheart caramel. Thought the pat du fruit was a bit too sweet for me but my friend thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad to have tried this full tasting. Was creative.

The food was amazing and loved everything in our tasting menu. We don't get foie gras in SoCal so I always make it a point to order foie wherever it is available and the foie gras with squash dish did not disappoint. It was a great mixture of sweet, savory, and sour. Loved everything bite of it. Service was great and they were very accommodating to my wife and hurt injured leg. Also really enjoyed the lively vibe and decor inside the restaurant. Will definitely go back to this restaurant next time I'm in Vancouver!

I approach Michelin-starred restaurants with caution, because a lot of the things that Michelin raters seem to care about are things that I don't care about. Happily, Published on Main avoids all of these pitfalls, while still definitely deserving it star. There is no presumption here. The servers are not wearing uniforms, and their interaction with guests is friendly and informative. Yes, the plates are served in a fairly synchronized fashion for each course, but without an elaborate show or pretense. Wine and water service is attentive, and meal pacing is perfect. We had the tasting menu which, counting all the little bites, consisted of more than 20 courses. Every single item was stellar. Standouts included the pickerel, the forest elixir (a broth) and the very unique saltspring chevre cheese course. There were multiple desserts as well, but they avoided sugar overload and were consistently interesting. We had the premium wine pairing to accompany the meal, and seven of the eight wines were interesting and perfect matches without being the bizarre sorts of things sommeliers sometimes come up with. Each one was presented with an informative description of its provenance and why it was being served with a particular dish. This is certainly the best restaurant I have been to in Vancouver so far, and it is justly deserving of its praise.

From the window-shaped mirrors to the vintage décor on the walls, every corner feels warm and thoughtfully designed. They also have an adorable backyard patio that I didn't notice until I was leaving. Had I known, I definitely would have chosen to enjoy brunch out there. The food, however, was a bit underwhelming. It leans heavily toward a simple, family-style Italian breakfast--comforting, healthy, and lightly seasoned rather than rich or indulgent. The presentation is also quite rustic instead of picture-perfect. We ordered two pork belly dishes: the Pork Belly Benedict, which swaps the traditional English muffin for focaccia, and the Baked Polenta with stewed tomatoes, creamy polenta, glazed pork belly, and eggs. The eggs in both dishes were closer to soft-boiled than the runny poached eggs I was expecting. Overall, everything tasted fresh but quite mild, and honestly felt like something that could be recreated at home without too much effort. The service was also a little slow. We visited during brunch when the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, but there was only one server working, so service felt a bit stretched. I'd come back for the atmosphere and the beautiful patio, and I might give their dinner menu a try.

I've certainly heard about this place before, but peeking-in, we only saw one table of customers eating, so I was a little unsure about it. But we starting to get hungry, so we gave it a try. This place is not big, but feels very stylish and lush. The host was super friendly and gave us open choice where to sit. The kitchen menu was very limited at that time, which made it easy to pick a few items to sample: - Sun Seeker Oysters: Excellent. Foam has not been popular food trend for awhile, but when used smartly, it works, and it certainly worked well here. - In-House Cured Skewer (Veal Tongue): Excellent. I was blown away by this one. I guess I've never had veal tongue before. It was so incredibly tender, it almost melted in my mouth. About the same tenderness I would expect from a A5 wagyu. - In-House Cured Skewer (Pork Belly): Excellent. This is a little more traditional, but perfectly prepared, so it was bubbly/crispy on the outside and great caramelized flavour. - Canh Spot Chua Tom: Good. I found this dish hard to judge. The server explained that the dish is inspired by Vietnamese Hot & Sour Soup (Canh Chua) but served cold. I'm not sure I could connect the two. The combination of spot prawn, burrata, sorbet, fennel and basil oil was unusual but good, and got better with each bite. I really have nothing to compare it to because its so different to the original inspiration and anything else I've had. But I still enjoyed it. Service was really good. Being only 1 of 3 customers helped, but our server was friendly and interactive, and took the time to explain all the dishes served. I really enjoyed this visit. I always worry that some places gets lots of social media attention, and once the hype is gone, they fade away because they can't meet the hype. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. An oolong peach creation acts as the perfect finishing touch: fragrant, slightly floral, and just sweet enough to close the meal without tipping into cloying territory. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.
