Booked Tutto for a friend's birthday last minute and it unexpectedly turned out to be a wonderful Italian cuisine experience. The dark moody ambiance makes a great place for date nights, birthdays, and girls night dinner vibes. Drinks were wonderful classics and the server was very attentive in checking in on our requests and food restrictions. We had two vegan friends who were wonderfully accommodated and could eat modified items on the menu. I tried my friend's vegan mushroom risotto and it still tasted very good without dairy! I loved the amount of truffle that was on the food I ate that night. The beef carpaccio was a delicious staple paired with the crostini on the side. A few members of our party all ordered the mushroom risotto and it was truly the star of the night - absolutely delicious and not too salty. Portion sizes were also very agreeable and we were stuffed by the end of night. The server was also very sweet and sent my friend a complimentary tiramisu for his birthday. I am a sucker for a tiramisu and although I found it a bit on the sweeter side, the gesture was still greatly appreciated. Overall, the experience that night was very seamless and pleasant. I have my Favourite Italian in Vancouver, but regretfully tried something new. Keep in mind: Their website menu, Google Menu and Yelp Menu all differ. Speaking of Menu....they don't serve Ravioli, Arancini or Lamb. Those items not on an Italian menu is like a Mexican Restaurant not serving Tacos...moving on.... Dinner Time. Walking through the dining room to be sat, it felt and looked like the power was out. The only light was coming from the kitchen in the back. That's how dark it was. Nope, not mood lighting. Not romantic....just came across as....Oops we lost electricity...lets set up candles. I had to turn on my phone camera to look at their 7 page wine list. Fun. Keep in mind, I'm not 50 yet and the noise level in the dining area had us forced to be reseated in the lounge. That's how extremely loud it was. I couldn't hear my company sitting across from me, or hear myself think. I asked the manager and she explained that it echoes in this space. Well....maybe then it might be a good idea not to pack the place like sardines. You know...it being especially supposedly Fine Dining. So now, I couldn't see or hear....and we haven't even ordered yet. Not a good start. The Food.... Caesar Salad. - The romaine was old and the dressing had no taste. Their Caesar made the pre-packaged generic Caesar salad kits at your local grocery store taste amazing. Had to turn it down. Calamari - ok. Bolognese - I make them better at home. Lobster Spaghetti. - The flavour profile was good but you're getting at most $15 worth of Lobster for a $44 Lobster dish. It was mostly pasta with sauce. Shortchanging. Another stench that doesn't go well with Fine Dining. Why so stingy? Give the people what they paid for. Tiramisu - I'm not certain if it was, but it tasted frozen not made fresh. Our Server was friendly and the chap did the best he could. I mean really not much else to say.... Honestly, if you ask me....I think you can do better. I came here for dinner on a Saturday. The venue is nice and pretty comfortable, but loud and cramped. Be prepared for noise. Their main dining room is basically a giant bar with a few tables in the periphery. There is a side section with some tables too which is a bit less rowdy. Service was good, friendly, BUT sadly slow and inattentive. They were short staffed. For a 3 hour meal, our waters (sparkling, san pellegrino) got refilled once. Took almost 40 mins for our food orders to be taken. Food: Focaccia for the table - too dense and tasted stale. Charcuterie board - way overpriced, too small, too little selection, and the pickled peppers were WAY too salty, it was inedible. The dish was also poorly presented. It was not even on a board but just a plate and sloppily arranged. Beet salad - beets slightly undercooked. Casarecce - noodles pretty good texture, but sauce was flat, just creamy but otherwise flavourless. Tagliatelle bolognese - lacked the depth of flavour of a good bolognese sauce. Tasted rushed. Tiramisu - average Affogato - average vanilla gelato, average espresso, average biscotti. Inoffensive but nothing remarkable for an affogato. Overall prices WAY too high for this level of Italian food. Parking - street pay parking - not too hard to find but the one-way streets in this area make it annoying to get around esp in traffic. Overall: service 4/5 food 2.5/5 venue 3.5/5 value 2/5 Overpriced, substandard Italian food. I would not come back here. read more

I live so close I smell them whenever the weather is nice enough to open my windows. Why did I wait so long. Came for DineOutVancouver and they are fantastic. The menu was a cold tomato soup, a mushroom lasagna, followed by limoncello. Everything was excellent. Flavors were well balanced and the textures were exquisite. Paired with a lovely Italian red wine and I'm sold. The ambience is nice, they do play music which included tunes for a Soul album release while I was middle school. Came here on a Friday night with a early dinner reservation and was seated immediately. We ordered the calamari which was fresh and delicious but the portion size of the dish was a little lacking for the price. For main course we ordered the tagliatelle ragú and the casarecce pasta. Firstly, between appetizer and main course we had to wait around 45 minutes, we saw all the tables around us receive their food and some of them even finished before we got ours. Our waitress noticed this and offered to give us a free dessert because of the wait which was nice. I do understand that mistakes can happen but I do feel like this long wait affected my overall experience. The quality of the main course dishes were mixed. I liked the casarecce, was worried the fennel would come off too strong but it really made the dish flavorful and enjoyed it. The tagliatelle ragú was lacking in the amount of meat, the flavor of the sauce as well as the overall portion size of this dish seemed a great deal smaller than the rest of the pastas. The dessert we were comped with was the flourless chocolate cake which was paired with vanilla ice cream and berry syrup. The cake did not feel rich enough for me and thought the dish was just okay. Not sure if I'll be coming back because of the service and because nothing that we ordered really stood out to me. read more

Personal preference I felt that T The tomato sauce didn't go well with it. The carpaccio was the better of the three dishes. I loved the amount of arugula on there. I wish the Crackers it came with weren't so crispy as they broke almost immediately after I put the carpaccio on there. I came in for lunch during a busy work day. We shared the burrata appetizer, which was great for sharing. It was exactly as expected and a perfect starter. My sablefish entree was also delicious, but the portions were tiny. I have to admit I was still hungry so that's something to keep in mind when ordering seafood here. Love this little Italian spot that's nestled at Homer/Smithe. Dishes are tasty; we had the osso bucco and beef carpaccio. Both were beautifully presented and came out in a timely manner. Great spot for a business lunch or dinner; they also have a vibrant bar that's great for social catchups. The space isnt super big, so when the dining room fills up, its quite loud and very warm in temperature. It's really hard to mess up some Italian food, but when you do it right, it's unforgettable and Tutto is one of those places. White tablecloth type of place and some seats were the kind that wrap around you (not really ideal for thicker people, I had no extra room). Either the caesar salad was amazing or I was just dying for some veggies haha. The squid ink pasta with seafood was amazing and the perfect amount of food. Nothing was overcooked on that plate. The short rib ravioli was another table favorite. And my other friend ordered the special white fish (forgot what kind) with puree and gnocchi. Hot new spot on the corner of Homer and Smithe. Free parking is non existent so I would either park somewhere in Yaletown and walk, take an Uber/Lyft or valet. As I've been here a couple times, I can't remember the names of all the dishes we've tried but I have pictures to help :) Depending how you want to enjoy your night, there's an area for groups to catch up, more secluded area in the back for more of a romantic setting or you can go to their lounge area if you want to just have drinks and/or watch some sports while enjoying your meal. I highly recommend booking in advance if you want to enjoy a nice dinner especially on the weekends. Great ambiance, friendly staff and good quality dishes. For my sons birthday dinner, being a huge fan of italian food, we went and tried this much talked about place in dt vancouver. He has fancied himself as a connoisseur of italian food, as he eats pasta every chance he gets, whether its from a fancy place, or at a food court take out counter. Mind you though, he has eaten pasta and pizza Many times over straight from the heart of the italian motherland...mother italy herself! Anyhow, one thing that stands out at this place was the service. It was impeccable and prompt. Our server made our stay special as she attended to our every need and even engaged us in conversation about the food. We did order quite a few things from the ordinary to the out of the ordinary...calamari, lasagna, carbonara, squid ink seafood pasta, and pizza (no picts). The calamari stood out bec of its freshness and unique qualities. Not breaded or deep fried, but freshly sliced squid grilled a bit then topped with greens. Such a delicate and original mediterrean approach to calamari. The pastas were all excellent as well. Handmade and did not come from a box. Special mention has to go to the squid ink seafood pasta, as it was well executed. No fishy smell. Not too salty. It was perfect. The scallops were seared and cooked just right. Fresh bounty of the sea - are words best to describe it. Now, as a late addition, i saw that they had a brick pizza oven on sight, and the server mentioned about a pizza special. So i had to order and try it... Big mistake! their pizza was the worse pizza i have ever had from a fine dining italian establishment. Maybe the chef was absent or someone dropped the ball...but it was a failure! I was so disappointed! I even asked the server if the chef for pizza and pasta were different, and she said yes, in fact they are. And with that, i rest my case. I said nothing further bec it solidified by suspicion. The integrity and quality of the crust was a failure. The sauce was so heavy it made the pizza soggy. Sauce was not fresh at all. The toppings were absent. Not real prosciutto was used but processed meat. Long story short, Pizza Hut tasted way better than what they served me that night. Even my son had a lot of negative things to say about it. After our first bites, i kept silent and waited for him to say something...and it didnt take long. Lol. We were greeted at the entrance by Victoria, she's a sweet young hostess, then we felt happy to have had Jennifer and Ricardo taking care of our food and drinks! Both Jennifer and Ricardo were so welcoming and I believe that service counts for 50% of a dining experience! Tutto is an upscale Italian flair in the heart of downtown. We booked for a special occasion meal and was not disappointed. For starters we got the Carpaccio di Manzo, Foccacia della Casa as well as the grilled Humbolt Squid. The carpaccio was razor thin and to be honest I tasted more of the Parmesan than the beef, but it was a tasty dish nonetheless. The grilled humbolt squid was tender, but still had a bite. Focaccia was a bit pricey for a few slices, but overall it was soft with a crispy crust. We couldn't decide for our mains, so at the end we ordered three mains to share between 2 people. Excessive I know, but we're glad we did as we feel we had a good sampling of their menu. First up was their featured mixed grill, with a piece of sea bass, tiger prawns and veal piccata. The sea bass was hands down the best out of the three. The tiger prawns was just a tad bit over cooked IMO. The veal was tender as expected but not very memorable. We also got the Spaghetti Di Mare, which was made with squid ink pasta. While the dish was well executed, it was a bit too oily and kind of bland. The plus side is it came with two big scallops. Finally the ribeye took the show, it was perfectly done and the accompaniments went well with everything else. We ended up finishing the steak fish, so we moved the pasta into the steak jus to mix it up and give it some flavour. Service was speedy and accommodating. The atmosphere was rustic with very detailed ceiling murals, definitely a great experience and a perfect place for a date night. read more

If there were half points, I'd love to give Tutto 3.5 stars. 5 stars for service and ambiance. It's a bit loud though, I had to raise my voice for my husband to hear me most times. Our server was great. He knew his wines and service was efficient, friendly and thoughtful, without being too intrusive. He knew exactly what I can order off the menu that can be made gluten free. I ordered dessert and had initially said no to coffee, but husband got the affogato and once I smelled the coffee I had to get a decaf. The decaf was sent out promptly within minutes of ordering, so that I can have it with my dessert. When I left, the gentleman at the door helped me with my coat. So 5 stars for service! What fell short for me, unfortunately, was the food, which arguably is more important than anything else. I'll start with the positives - we ordered the carpaccio and calamari to start. The carpaccio was fine, nothing to write home about. It came with gluten free bread, which I was very appreciative of. The calamari was amazing, cooked perfectly and the sauce complemented well. The desserts were pretty decent too. I very much enjoyed the dessert wine recommended by our server, my husband enjoyed his affogato (the vanilla gelato was divine), and I enjoyed my flourless chocolate cake (although again, the better parts were the sauce, vanilla gelato and the gluten free crunchy bits rather than the cake itself). The entrees were another matter. My seabass was dull, bland, lifeless and a tiny bit fishy. It was also quite thin compared to other seabass entrees I've had at other restaurants. The accompaniments were potatoes, balsamic onions and grape tomatoes.. and although they weren't super great I enjoyed them more than my seabass (the potatoes were too big and therefore was flavorful on the outside and a bit bland on the inside). I've never had a seabass entree I didn't like, until this time. My husband and was also quite tepid about his seafood spaghetti. There was sand in the clams and the pasta was very salty.. and he normally prefers more salt in his food. His conclusion was that Tutto won't get on any Michelin list anytime soon. I would agree. We had a great night, but that was 100% because of the service, the wine selections and the decent appies and dessert. The entrees were disappointing, which is why this is a 3 star for us. It feels like they know their wine and ice cream, but the kitchen is lacking. If we do come back, we will come for appies and dessert with some drinks. read more

Walking into Tutto you'll see a large staircase and chandelier leading to the dining room surrounded by their collection of wines. I was greeted and felt immediately welcomed and was shown to my table where my party was waiting. It's very spacious and feels elevated. It's fancy but not pretentious, so dressing business casual is perfectly fine. They have some unique cocktails and a great wine selection. We had the grilled octopus, Caprese salad, and mushroom risotto. The octopus was quite a large appetizer, we were stuffed, with just enough room for dessert. The risotto was just amazing with a good helping of truffles. There was a lot of attention to detail without being obvious about it, he even used the traditional crumb sweeper between courses. A little more about the excellent service, I was catching up with an old friend and our waiter was so kind not to interrupt our conversation yet checked in on us just enough to be sure we were doing well. If you want excellent service, wonderful food and a great ambiance, this is the place to be. This is a great place for a meal with friends, family, colleagues or even a special date! The Italian food here was delicious! We got the lobster spaghetti, lasagna bolognese, chicken paillard and brazino sea bass. The chicken breast was juicy and moist. The sea bass was the best: the fish was moist, the pearl onions were sweet and caramelized and the broccoli were perfectly crunchy with a smoked grilled flavor. The small potatoes tasted flavorful. The server was very attentive, glasses were refilled quickly. The chairs were also very comfortable. We had a small miscommunication with service that caused us to get an incorrect dish. This was quickly fixed by our server (Jeff was his name I think) and he did a great job making sure we were satisfied with the replacement dish. We came here for my husband's birthday and it completely exceeded our expectations. The portions were generous (he was starving when we got there and he left full) and the flavours were just *exquisite*. Hours later, I'm still thinking about that meal so much I felt compelled to write a review. For our appy, we had the Calamaro. I really didn't expect that punch of flavour so I was pleasantly surprised. The tenderness of the squid paired well with the saltiness of the olives. Also, was that a hint of bolognese sauce mixed in? I'm not sure, but it was mind blowing. For the mains, I had the Spaghetti di Mare - again I tasted olives (I don't even normally like olives but I do now) and the acidity of tomatoes complementing sweetness from the garlic. Honestly if it was JUST pasta I would've been happy, but the perfectly cooked scallops, prawns, clams, and mussels gave it that little extra. My husband had the Casarecce con Salsiccia - from the few bites that I tried, it was savoury and hearty. Could've been spicier in my opinion but just a personal preference. We ended the night with chocolate cake with a side of a citrusy sorbet (I forget the actual name of the dessert). It wasn't our first choice (which was tiramisu) but they were out of it. (We'll be back soon to try it..!) The chocolate cake wasn't overly sweet and the sorbet balanced things out nicely. We felt compelled to try this restaurant as we heard so much about it lately. We had the Calamaro, Spaghetti Di Mare, the special pasta dish with lamb shoulder and chocolate torte to finish. All tasted good but I wish my pasta dish had more seafood than pasta, the mussels were tiny, perhaps it's seasonal. While we appreciated the calamari was grilled and not deep fried, it tasted bland somehow. The restaurant has contemporary decor and good vibes. We like the menu and extensive wine list but we dislike the noise level. We felt safe dining in the restaurant with all the safety measures in place.
