The manager was super friendly and set me up with all the paperwork and did a walk through with me of my locker. Sure this place is harder to find, but you can't beat the price and the ability to drive up to your locker. My experience at the public storage on marina today was just lovely. If there was an option for a sixth star this place would get it. A+ in my book. It has completely ruined me for all other storage facilities. I came in close to closing time so i was expecting the cold shoulder or the shew away, but this was not the case at all. The young lady at the front desk, Briana, greeted me with open arms and was super helpful and knowledgeable. I was in, signed up, and had my unit it no time. I had no trouble finding my unit and gaining access. This was just the kind of service i needed with all the hecticness going on in my life right now with all the moving and stuff. Evelyn was great. Her customer service was on point every single time I had an interaction with her. She was nice, patient, and helpful. I would give her 5 stars all day. Public storage as a company; not too thrilled about them and am very glad to be moving my things out. They require that you buy a lock for the unit which only works for their storage units. I have a lock that's now useless. Also, they supposedly don't pro-rate in the case you move out mid month. But they do prorate 2 days at the beginning of the month... Its just shady. For a big company to take advantage of people in fairly desperate situations, which many using Public Storage's services are, is slimy. I will be happy if I don't need to give Public Storage 1 more dollar. If Evelyn didn't work there I'd be giving a very poor review. Clean units. Easy access. Great location, especially for this location's cheaper rates. read more

Employees will reliably make phone calls to remind about payments due. The pros end there. Broken lights go unfixed for months. Water leaks through walls leaving anything touching the wall or floor wet during rainy seasons. They give you misleading information about locks and moving out that can cost you a LOT of money, which for most storage unit customers is a serious problem. I brought my own locks, which I used in addition to the ones they provided. Upon cleaning my unit out, I left theirs with them. Apparently not taking them with me means the unit is still occupied by me, because the locks were now 'mine' and I didn't take them. Of course I was not made aware of this until after the 1st, costing me an extra $300 even though the unit was empty half way through the prior month. This is shady behavior on the part of the company, with at least passive collusion by the local employees. Try a mom and pop company instead. read more

I've used this storage site since before it was public storage and owned by shurguard. Ever since the change in ownership service has gone done. There is no consistent property management. I've received notice of rate increases in error. The grounds are not kept up. Recently I received a call that my payment was not received and please come down and verify the lock on my unit as the lock did not have a PS label on it. Apparently, there had been a number of break ins in the month of January 2010 and since the lock did not have a PS sticker on it, I needed to look at it. Except, the lock on my site had two PS stickers on it but it was not my lock. My unit apparently had been broken into sometime in the past month. What I wanted to know is why the management did not alert customers that there were break ins occurring so we could check out units? This would ensure a swifter identification of loss, increasing the opportunity for recovery. If my payment had arrived on time they would not have called me. Apparently, the only way customers find out there is a problem is when they arrive at their storage unit and find it does not have their lock on it. Extremely poor attitude by the 'Acting District Manager" that finally responded to open the unit by sawing off the lock that had been placed after which I found a significant amount of property missing. Look elsewhere for your storage needs. read more

The location was clean and Erica assisted me with a reservation, friendly, professional and provided answers to my questions. I returned 2 days later with money, a car load and willingness to rent. Evelyn, was not able to professionally assist me because I resist my ID #'s documented. I asked to peak to the manager to see if another # could be substituted. While stating my case on the phone Evelyn moaned, huffed and responded to my side of the phone call so very unprofessional. I ended the call with Rachelle stating This is the policy. OK. I left to my car saying I would be back to continue. Evelyn walked papers out to me and shoved them in a pouch in my open car door. When I returned inside, she called me by my first name to which I made a correction of Ms. Last name. I don't wish to be friends with a rude service worker. So she decided she would not rent to me. Well, Evelyn changed the great service from 5 stars to 2. Erica should be watched so workers can learn how to work with concerns and respect and assist. ID Theft is a big deal. Times have changed, computers are hacked, mail boxes opened and bank accounts drained. Me proceeding with caution should not subject me to the rudeness Evelyn displayed and should not prevent me to be a customer. What an inconvenience and a black eye to my 1st storage experience. read more

I open and storage unit with ps in july 2011. In August the manager Evelelyn call me and said it need to get a ps lock that they have but i declined so she put a ps sticker. So i continue to make my monthly payments. I went to the storage labor day wkend and everything was fine i go back to the storage two week later everything still fine. Fast forward i got today to return something and the lock was changed. Nobody know nothing, my husband breaks the lock of that they put on only to realize the it had been broken into. All i know that it was an inside JOB!!!!! i I LETTING EVERYONE KNOW DO NOT MESS WITH PUBLIC STOAGE!!!!! I doing a police report and they are going the be investigated. read more

San Leandro location is relatively inexpensive, compared with locations closer to Oakland and SF. All units are ground level, making access easy. There are a large number of "garage" type units. Just pull up the moving van to (un)load. We initially rented two units, consolidated to one after a year, and ultimately moved to a (slightly more costly) location closer to home.
