There is definitely some room for improved customer service. I have had a unit here for 3 1/2 years. I do feel like it is safe and clean. However, no matter what "deal" you get in at, they will raise the rates quickly and consistently. You can petition for them to waive a rate increase if you feel it is not justified. I didn't feel as if 3 times the rate I moved in with was fair. They responded by waiving the increase. Wanting to downsize, I am now looking at a smaller unit. However, what I am most confused about right now is that they have an advertised price out on their website for a specific size unit on a specific floor. We happen to know that the unit right across from us is available, but, according to the property manager it has a higher price than what is offered online (same size, same floor). In other words, each individual unit, regardless of size and location has it's own price. They could be identical on the same floor, but different prices. Where good customer service would come in would be if Public Storage would recognize the convenience to us in just wanting to move directly across from our existing unit and honoring the price that we have as an online reservation. But, instead, we will have to move a couple aisles down. Not a big deal, but this is just something totally in their control (Corporate, not property managers) that would show good customer service. Let me start by saying, the place is very clean & the onsite employees were great. However, I'd like to warn people who are about to sign a contract with them to be sure to read the "small print"! My price per month went up substantially from the contract I signed, but of course it was in the small print that they can raise it whenever they wanted. I went to pay my storage and used credit card swiped twice and was denied so went to bank to pay them by cash I find out later that day that 2 payments were processed by my credit car I called and spoke with someone and they assured be that they would drop off, well today they processed both payments through my bank, and I am out 720,00 dollars, I will contact bank and file fraud charges against them. 3 payments went through when only 1 should have read more

Oh... My... Goodness. I called to get a quote from these guys and this guy, who for some reason informed me his middle name is Eduardo, was so incredibly rude. He wouldn't tell me his name. After I got the quote I informed him I wrote it down and respectfully wanted to get a few other quotes... Standard stuff. Well, this gentleman would not let me get off the phone so I respectfully informed him I would follow up if I need their assistance and I hung up. He proceeded to call me a total of 17 times in a row while I was on the other line with an other place. I couldn't even speak to the lady in the line from the other storage place without call after call coming in. That is not good customer service. That is not sales. I don't know what that is. So rude. So disrespectful. Just absolutely crazy that they would hire someone who's like this... I give this place 0 stars if I could. read more

Very unhappy with this place. I was uninformed about having to pay a prorated amount after my promotion ended and all the manager had to say was, she doesnt understand why " He didnt inform me" all she cares about was me paying an amount that I was not informed on and then told me I would have to pay a 70 dollar late fee if I didnt pay it. Not one time did she apologize for her employee. Then once everything was paid, she then had cut my lock off and told me I had to pay for another one after they cut it off and i paid in full 412.12. They could of at least replaced my lock! It was their fault I was misinformed. I will never suggest them to anyone or will I ever use them again. So unprofessional and disappointed. read more

***** update below*** Changed stars from 1 to 5 thanks to one employee There was a mix up and miscommunication on our part with the auto payment when we had already vacated our unit and were trying to cancel. The corporate office told me that the district manager would be able to issue a refund via a check and prorate the 3 days we were being charged in August for our unit. When my husband went in to the storage unit to verbally cancel, the district manager himself, I believe his name was Ryan, also said that he would be issuing a check. When I called back and spoke with him to verify that the check had been mailed out a month later, he all of a sudden did not remember who we were, and did not have any notes in the computer reminding him, and just read the terms of the lease to me. I explained to him that I understood the terms of the lease but when I called, I was told by not only corporate but also by himself that a check would be issued. All he did was apologize and say he's very busy and runs 10 stores. Horrible customer service on his end and apparently he's too busy with his 10 stores to care about one customer. Corporate did tell me that all refunds had to go through the district manager, but the district manager all of a sudden said he couldn't do anything. He didn't even attempt to try and reconcile the situation or try and make me happy. The customer service is horrible here. Once you're out they obviously don't care about you and don't want any repeat business or referrals. Yes I signed a lease so that's what they fall back on but verbally tell you something different. I stopped into Public Storage this past week and met Shirley. She was very nice and helpful. All my questions were answered and she even offered to sell me boxes and bubble wrap if I needed them. Buyer BEWARE... Although Public Storage is well known, they LACK Customer service on every level. From the manager at 19215 N Cave Creek Rd 85024 location to the District Manager Robert Mayer to the Supervisor for Customer Support in the Corporate Offices. When I was moving my things into the storage the manager kept closing and locking the office doors and leaving the site during business hours - for hours at a time. This made it very inconvenient for me to get my things up the elevator without a trolley, also when they left the office when I was able to get a trolley I would have to wait 30 to 60 minutes, for both of the office staff to come back and open the office, so that I could return the trolley and go get another load. My first 2 months I paid in advance and the 3rd month I changed banks and had the Bill Pay set up, by the credit union, to pay BEFORE the due date on the first of the month. The first Bill Pay when through fine, but the second one was not set up correctly for the reoccurring payment. I received an email from Public Storage after the 6-day GRACE Period was over letting me know that they charged me a late fee of over $25 and my bill needed to be paid. I paid the normal amount due as soon as I received the notice and I called the manager of the Cave Creek location and explained what had happened and asked for the courtesy of her waiving the late fee and she let me know that they probably wouldn't do that, but that she would put in an "issue ticket" that would go up the ladder to the District Manager Robert Mayer. I called and left a message for Robert Mayer explaining the situation and then another message the following day with no response. The site manager said that he denied my request and when I explained that I have had a bad experience with their company and this was like another nail in the coffin so to speak she just made more excuses. I brought up the fact that they could have sent out a courtesy email prior to the end of the grace period just as easily as they sent out the late fee email and all three of the managers (site, district and corporate) seemed to be trained to say the same script, "we have way too many customers to be able to have the time to do send out all those emails." I refuted their scripted rebuttal saying, "with technology being as advanced as it is, you don't have to do anything but set up an algorithm once and the computer system does the work without you." Days later I finally get a call from the district manager with the same excuses as the others I had spoken to only he added that they wouldn't waive the late fee because I didn't have enough payment history. I explained that he could see that I had paid in advance of the due date prior to this and that 4 months is enough to make a one-time exception. I explained that I have had a bad experience with this company and the lack of customer care and I would be giving them a bad review and thanked him for finally at least calling me back and said goodbye. read more

This place is super clean and cooled. However, when I asked about providing my own lock they told me "no you have to purchase ours, its policy" yet no where does it state that in the contract. good luck trying to point that out and get a refund. Same with the renters insurance. I also brought that up and of course they said, "we told you you could purchase your own". Yea, actually you told me I could not purchase my own. Val then said, "no I did not" of course you did not Val. that would be violating "policy" right? I will not use a PS ever again based on this experience and good luck to those that do... read more

No carts! I've been twice to pick up stuff from this facility from some units we keep for my job. The first time I was there I asked about a utility cart and was told by staff that they were all stolen but they had ordered some new ones. My second visit was several months later and still there are no carts. What should have taken me 20 minutes actually took 2 hours moving one or two boxes at a time. read more

****update below***I'm editing my review because District Manager Ryan followed-up on my complaints. I want to say I had another problem with my bill after writing my previous complaint. This time when I called, the rep understood my stance with not getting a tax increase charged in my statement. She removed it. She also helped lower my $60 charge for 6 months. I won't give Public Storage 5 stars because I continue to reject their drastic increases but in terms of listening to the complaints and reacting, I'll increase from 1 star to 3. I rented a 5x5 storage unit back in 2011 and was happy for the most part until last year. Suddenly, without warning they raised my fee from a total of $53 with taxes to $56 and change. I called to see what the reason was and they told me that they were increasing due to operational costs. I was astonished that they were transferring an almost 10% increase to every customer. They were also rather rude in answering my questions. I mean, ¨they're doing me the favor, right?¨ Today I checked my statement and they increased my bill again to $60 and change. Calculating this, they have increased my bill from one year to another $4.30. Again, I called and it is because of operational costs. Online I see that they are offering units bigger than mine for $55. 1. try to control your ¨operational costs¨ and don't hide that information from your current customers 2. have better customer service and retention programs...I asked what needed to be done so I could vacate my space and she didn't even try to keep my business DON'T GO HERE read more
