Do not rent here!! These people are crooks!! I've only been with them for 6 months and they've already doubled my monthly payment. They start out all nice and then after the first month they raise it and then 6 months later they raise it again. And I have two units. They know it's July, the hottest time of year and nobody wants to move their shed in July. What was supposed to be $200 a month is now $400 a month it's crap. In May 2022, my family and I relocated from GA to AZ and I rented 7 (10x20) units while building our custom home. We thought we'd have moved out 6 months later but due to delays, our home is still not done as of Oct 2024. More than 2 yrs later with no missed payments, they kept raising my rent and I was paying about $2,200/month as they continue to increase my rent. One of the units was priced at an astonishing $439/month. I pleaded with the Phoenix AZ district manager Ashley to either allow me to prepay or freeze the monthly increases for the 7 units which she refused. Keep in mind I have been renting from this company now for over 2 yrs with no missed payments. In Sep 2024, I received another notice of rent increase and I was upset and decided to call PODS. I ended up using PODS as they were able to get me a fixed rate of $1500/month for as long as I needed the storage which will be for another 6-9 months. Of course, when I gave my notice to vacate to Public Storage, the site attendant offered me a "Rent Reduction" to stay. Laughable because I had asked multiple times even for at least rent rate freeze which Ashley refused. Obviously, I declined. What made me write this review is the way Ashley made it so difficult for me to get my property out after I gave them notice. It was totally uncalled for and unnecessary. Since I had 7 units, it was going to take time to get my things out even with hired movers. Over the next 4 weekends, we tried to remove my things but Ashley insist that I can only bring in 1 POD at a time and MUST be removed with 24 hrs. Keep in mind I had 7 units (10x20) and needed 11 large PODS. She made things extremely difficult which forced me to hire an attorney to protect my rights. I was able to bring in multiple PODS each weekend to meet the timeline of getting my stuff out by month end. The district manager, Ashley does not recognize how to keep a good customer. She definitely needs some serious training on how to handle customers especially ones that rents 7 units and pays over $2,200/month timely. If I were a manager, I will do everything possible to keep that customer. But, that's just me. I will NEVER use or recommend this company to anyone. read more

There were issues with for me on how the place priced and operated from the corporation's part but the lady at the desk was very polite and went above and beyond what could be expected. They offer free or 50% off to new customers and then very good rates going forward, but just as you get settled in, they will often increase your price. Only good for short term. We have been there over 2 years and just got increased again. We are paying double what new customers are paying. I would think they would give long term customers some kind of incentive for staying, but I feel like they would rather we leave, so they could rent the unit I pay $178 monthly for to someone else for $124. I went to Public Storage today after an internet search of facilities in my general residence area. My search for a new storage unit was because I just received an increase notice from Cubesmart, my current storage provider on 7th Street that my monthly rent was going up over $70.00 per month. So, needless to say I was frustrated as hell. Cubesmart's customer service stinks and they keep their bathrooms locked up. So I end up at at Public Storage on Cave Creek and meet Stella. What a breath of fresh air she is !!! Very polite, knowledgeable, and attentive. She showed me 2 units and I was sold. This has been a nightmare. I rented a storage off black canyon hwy because public storage web site it's was the closest to me. The website is all messed up. I paid on line and the next day I found out that their locations was wrong so I called them immediately and they transferred me to the Cave Creek location on the phone 800 number however I got a hold of them said that there was $51 will be returned to me because I paid for that other one and I did not move into it. There wasn't even time for them to do an administration thing at all, never received my refund. I'm trying to get a hold of people. I finally got a hold of somebody yesterday at the Cave Creek location a man he told me to go to the nearest public storage they would refund my money. I went to the nearest Public Storage in Tucson had to drive 15 miles to get to it got over there. Nobody's there. This is a big problem with them. They have no people working in their offices, if they are, they're not doing their jobs because of these doors are locked and nobody will get back with you so today I got a hold of Stella at Cave Creek Road location. She told me she check on it but she didn't think they were gonna give me my administration fee less than a day when I called back, nobody had even done administration so she called me back again and told me that they're only gonna give me the price of the lock pack so that $51 that I paid in advance I can't get my money back. Is this the way they do business with their customers yeah I went online trying to make a complaint. You cannot get a hold of anybody it just it just wants you to, keep looking keep looking keep looking and you never find any complaint area so this is why on yelp. I don't want anybody to have to go through the nightmare that I'm going through right now and when she called me back today when I lodged my to her because I can't get a hold of anybody else, she apologized to me and then she held it over my head that they gave me a Halloween special. Beware of inaccurately advertised dimensions! Completely false advertising and classic bait and switch. Signed agreement to rent a 10x5 ft (50sqft) storage unit for $46. When I got there, was told they couldn't show the units because of social distancing (okay well let's all where masks and I can easily walk 6ft behind you) but I went ahead and signed agreement in good faith. Got to my unit and it was clearly not 5 ft wide. Took out my tape measure and it was 3.5 ft wide (see photo). That's 30% less floor space then advertised. I don't tell people I'm approximate 7 ft tall when I'm actually 5'7". When I asked for a different unit because of the dimensions, I was told I could have a upstairs unit for $66, a while $20 more per month. Told them I wasn't happy because this was bait and switch and I already wasted 1 hr doing paperwork and loading my car and cart. Asked them for a refund and it took 10 phone calls to get a $1 refund and then I was told the $24 admin fee was not refundable. What a complete scam - they will do anything to try to get your money. I actually had a previous bad run in with this company years ago when someone still my identity to rent a unit. Even after I reported it to the police and to them, they continued to send threatening debt collections letters and actually sent me to a debt collector. After threatening legal action against them, it finally got resolved. I thought I'd give the company a second chance but clearly I was wrong. If you are looking for an ethical company to work with, this is not them. read more

We are moving out on the fifth of February and I found out today that I have to pay for the entire month of February even though I am only using 5 days. Never again Public Storage! No prorates. Says it all. Folks living in the units, bathrooms are GROSS because of that. They had to padlock the bathroom it was most likely a heath issue. I assumed it was for customers(especially since there was already trash stacked by it) but NO. I put a few things next to the other trash and an Employee named Jesse pulled up on a golf cart and said that bin was for employees only and he would charge our unit $150 if I didn't pick up the items. I asked why there was no bin for customers to which he had no answer. I wouldn't use again even if they paid me! I'm beyond livid! A few of the times we needed to go into the office to borrow their dollies and they'd have signs saying when they'd return. Two of the times they returned 20+ minutes after their sign said they'd be back, and then their attitudes were like we were inconveniencing them. All the cancellation policy said was to give two days notice, which I did. I'm getting an email a week after my normal bill date saying I Owe another month plus a late fee because the lock was left on. All they need to do is cut the stupid lock off, especially if the person hasn't paid and has no card on file. I no longer live close to the facility, and I have to go unlock the unit and verify with someone at the office that I'm leaving. Even if I wanted them to cut off the lock, I have to go their in person and sign something with photo ID. Their system lacks common sense! Give your money to another company. Terrible location, terrible company. The facility is poorly maintained. The gates never work correctly, and have been ran into. The doors to the storage facility are never secure. They open and close randomly, or just stay open for hours on end. We have been here on the weekends, and there have been transients wandering the property. Management has little concern for the issues. They simply state "I'm just an employee, not the company." Rent increases are common. I dealt with Nikki in the management office on several occasions. Despite me giving proper move out notice, they still charged me a full months rent. She could have cared less about me as a customer. Getting a storage unit is all about doing your homework, reading the fine print and listening to the customer service / front desk representative (Nikki at this location). This facility is in a safe area, it's secure and very clean. Nikki was very nice and informative. She made the process quick and easy. They have carts on site to help you move your stuff but can only be obtained during business hours (note: "Storage hours" are approx. 6:00am to 9:00pm where as "Business hours" are something like 9:00am - 6:00pm - Don't quote me on the hours as I'm going off memory.) To get the best deals, plan ahead. If you are making a last-second rental, you might not get the best price (but if your time is good, you may!). This is the case at any storage facility as they base pricing on occupancy level. I rented a large unit (10x15) at Public Storage at the same price my daughter rented a small unit (10x5) at U-Haul. Needless to say, she'll be moving to Public Storage and saving herself $57/month! Things to know: 1. You need to have a disk lock. You can purchase them there ($19) or elsewhere. Bring it with you. If you don't, they will put one of there's on the unit until you bring yours. But remember if they put their lock on your unit because you didn't bring yours with you, you'll need to go back during business hours when someone is working to switch out the locks. 2. You are required to have insurance. Most homeowners insurance cover a percentage (10%) of your personal belongings away from your home or business. You will need to bring proof of your insurance. Your insurance company should be willing to quickly draft you a letter. If you don't have H.O. Insurance, then you'll need to purchase some at a minimal coverage of $3,000. If you get it there, it's $11/month. ($4,000 for $13/month and $5,000 for $15/month). This of course will add to your monthly cost. I hope this has been helpful. UPDATE - UPDATE- UPDATE We'll, I'm willing to admit an error when I make one. 4-months after getting my unit AND suggesting to my daughter to move to this facility, We got a BIG surprise... My rate went from $129 to $159 citing a seasonal increase of nearly 25%!! I get that at times businesses need to raise prices but to have this done to customer of 4-months and such a significant increase is just POOR business. The last 2.5-months I have called or visited the facility office and they filed my complaint/concern three times electronically (the employees were nice and understood my issue). When asked to speak with the general manager (Ryan L), he never retuned any of my calls. I was then given the number to corporate and was promised a callback within 48-hours. Never got the call. Called again today (6/25/18) and spoke with a manager. In short, she understood my view as a consumer but said that there are peak seasonal increases and couldn't help me. I'm sure that in the "off-peak" months my rate won't go down automatically. She advised many repairs/improvements were being made, which I can believe as the main gate was often not working. I'm sure the employees did a good job keeping an eye on things but all renters are paying for a secure site. Terribly disappointed and it is clear that they are not willing to do the right thing even when they see their own shortcomings that negatively affect you and me, the customer. I was very impressed with Public Storage. When I moved in there were carts available to assist me and elevators on either side of the automatic doors. Not only that the facility was very clean. In fact, I saw someone with a cleaning cart walking around and she stopped to welcome me and see if I needed anything. There are restrooms available by the elevators (not portal, real). Today: 6:30 am came to the storage facility with everything I own in a moving truck with movers I was paying by the hour. Walk up to storage unit- STILL HAD A PUBLIC STORAGE LOCK ON IT. Had to wait until 9:30am when they opened. Called their corporate line and was given the number for the district manager. Called him about 17 times, no answer, and 10 hours later, no call back. Other than the lovely woman who was helping to fill in this morning, this place is ridiculous. Cost me about $300 in extra moving fees and a missed flight because I had to wait. No where in the contract does it say I have to show you my lock before moving in. I paid for the unit, so take your lock off of it AS SOON AS I PAY FOR IT. I started renting a storage unit here in mid-December 2015, and ever since then there's been nothing stable about the monthly rate. I'm confident I signed a lease with them with the purpose of coming to a mutual understanding of how much this would cost me a month. But that wasn't so. ** For starters, I initially provided my email address to sign up for electronic notification of my monthly invoice: The 1st invoice I received was on 01/12/2016 -- the 2nd invoice EVER received was on 06/12/2016! The 1st invoice was fine, it told me how much was due on Feb 1st = $83.85. Perfect, that's how much I expected. Now, I can only suppose I didn't get an invoice for the following months because the price already changed for March, now my total was $84.06. April and May same thing. So I'm told my price for the unit would be $71.00 a month, the rest is rent tax (variable) and rent insurance ($11.00), which added up to $83.85. Now, how that went up to $84.06 by March, I was never informed by them, because I never got an invoice (shady) --- But I let it go and chucked it up to operational costs, which I can understand. When I did receive my 2nd invoice EVER, on 6/12/16, it was for the amount due on July 1st. = $97.44 ... Really?? ** How did my Monthly Total go from $83.85 (January) to $84.06 (March), to $97.44 in July?? So here is the breakdown: Remember how they got me in the door by establishing that my monthly rent would be $71? Well, it went up (without notice) to $84. So this is what it looks like in the period of 6 months: **JANUARY** Monthly Rent $71.00 Discount $0 Rent Tax $1.85 Insurance $11.00 _____________________ Monthly Total $83.85 **JULY** Monthly Rent $84.00 Discount $0 Rent Tax $2.44 Insurance $11.00 ________________________ Monthly Total $97.44 Do you want to talk about suspicious? This business right here (Public Storage) is king of shady if going by their misleading advertisement and billing practices. Dishonest company with shoddy customer service. I originally signed up for a first floor 5'x5' unit. When the confirmation came through, my unit was located in floor -1 (basement). I was told it would be $100 difference to change to a higher level. Then upon actually seeing the unit, it measured 5'x4'1", 20% smaller than than what was expected. They offered me a different unit with the same parameters (which still only measured 4'10"x4'10") but wanted to charge me an additional $15 a month for the space. I requested to just cancel the rental and receive a full refund. I am still waiting. Ended up going. Down the street to Life Storage instead and had a MUCH better experience. read more

I have been trying to transfer ownership of my unit from my company to another company. I went in and filled out all of the paper work and they said they would call me when it was approved. No call back and they will not return my calls. This place is the worst Public Storage unit I have ever used. Every other Public Storage I have used has been fine. This one is terrible. They never have carts and they rent out units to homeless people. Because this unit is for a business, I am there often at 6am. Every time I have been there at 6am the same homeless women comes in and goes into the basement and disappears someplace. Not certain but I think that is illegal. This review is about the whole company. If price is part of your decision process make note. I have been here since dec 2016 it is now March 2018. In that time they have raised the rent twice. The first time at nearly 10 times the rate of inflation and now at 5 times the rate of inflation. From 100 a month to 135 a month in less than 2 years. 35% total increase. The company knows that once you are in a storage place it takes effort to leave. Yes in the contract it says they can do this at any time so there is no recourse other than leave. But they never let you know that these rate increases are going to be onerously high. So the public forum is the only place you will find out. There are hundreds of similar posts. They are pretty good. I am at the 19th Ave just south of Cactus location. They have been very helpful. I got a message the other day, I called them right back thinking maybe my payment hadn't gone through or God forbid my unit had been broken into (happened at an extra space I had rented from), but none of those things. They just wanted to tell me that they had found a way to drop my rate lower. So I'm happy! The property is nice, quiet. Never had any issues. read more
