As someone who's worked in customer service I'm not one to make reviews on business. However, I have never experienced such carelessness and lack of empathy from a staff more than I have from this team. As a customer I've experienced this locations management excuse their miscommunication and over charges that were initially agreed upon. They had no interest in coming to a solution because "they don't know how that happened" even though it's been the same person working here for years. The on sight team lacks professionalism and empathy for customers. Save yourself the headache and money and store your things with a local business! read more

The 680 Hegenberger location did not honor the 50% discount as advertised. On-site staff was unwilling to explain why the discount could not be applied. Instead of taking a few minutes to describe pricing terms of a storage unit (after my stuff was loaded ) they preferred to try bullying me into signing an agreement they didn't understand. After paying in full through customer service & via the phone (which nickels & dimes an extra $10 because the website wasn't working) the system gives me access to the unit. But staff has placed a physical lock on my reserved space stating that I'm refusing to sign an agreement they don't understand. Each time I tried to escalate to a manager there was refusal to help with this or a blanket statement that Rick wasn't working that day. So I had to contact customer service again --- who supports the position that my unit should not have a physcial lock. Just when i think the problem is solved and life can go on ... an uninformed on-site clerk calls arrives without updates from customer service. She aggressively makes accusations that I've entered the property without a code & gets even messier with unsubstantiated worries that I'll cut the lock. I have to call customer service again to loosen her grip on the unit, which I finally got access to the next day. It was a nightmare happening in broad daylight & no respect for my time or theirs. If there was a way to score 0, I'd do it. read more

Each star lost for these reasons. 1. The unit was as expected visually, but it smells like rat piss. 2. The lighting is very poor with a single bulb in a dark, plywood paneled room, and there is no option to improve the lighting as there are no outlets. 3. The quoted price was deceiving since they additionally require to *buy* their overpriced, proprietary lock even though any standard padlock would suffice. read more

No thief that comes to steal replaces a damn lock While Alarm is setting off at that... but manager who knows how to disarms alarm so police won't come to check so there free to steal your belongings. Do NOT trust property manager Magdalia she's a crook who rob storage units. she makes the entire company look bad along with her boss. I just wanna say that my experience at this location (680 Hegenberger) has been outstanding. From the cleanliness of the storage area to the improved upkeep of the rest room it has been exceptional! This morning Danielle was very helpful, she gave a clear explanation of their policies which helped me make the most cost effective decision. I have a unit here that I share with my sister and recently we have found rat feces and urine in our unit, all over our belongings. We've contacted the office and tried speaking to the property manager and the person above her, but they haven't contacted us at all. This is a very serious issue and we were not informed about how serous the issue actually is. I got a call saying there was a 'possible sanitation risk' but that is all. Today we went back to storage and found a dying roof rat. And more feces everywhere. We've salvaged what we could from our unit, but about 85% of it is completely destroyed. Our whole life was in that storage. Furniture, clothing, kids toys, photos, mattresses. All covered in feces and urine. At this point it's no longer an issue about our stuff being ruined, it's about Public Storage taking accountability over being completely careless and not warning other tenants about this problem. And it's awful that NO ONE has contacted us or tried helping resolve this issue. Very unprofessional and disappointing. read more

Got a U-haul behind here last week - not in a great part of Oakland not a good place to go alone. Ladies - bring someone with you. The staff wasn't particularly helpful, and they don't have any of the boxes, carts or anything else I typically associate with a uhaul location. Not very clear service either - no explanation or offer for extra miles, etc. I will definitely go elsewhere in the future. read more

My 1st impression was I past, luckily my encounter with a knowledgeable employee by the name of Chantello (sorry if I spelt it wrong). This place is ghetto to say the least. We had some stuff in storage there while in between moves. We were going through a hard time so my husband Payed late. AS A RESULT THEY TOOK THE LOCK OFF OUR STUFF AND ROBBED US!!! Replacing the lock with a flimsy ass red tag lock any body can remove. I lost all my valuable jewelry that can't be replaced, our flat screen tv's, shoes, and My priceless wooden jewelry armoire. I'm absolutely devastated:-( The people at the front desk are rude trashy and incompetent to say the very least. Please Beware! Public Storage Facility on 680 Hegenberger Road in Oakland, CA has a rat infestation problem! They are NOT informing their current or prospective tenants of this dangerous public health issue! I was told to come in and do a "sanitation inspection" with the property manager to ensure them that I was not storing food in my unit. This was not a thorough search. It only required me allowing them access to open the grill and look inside. It was told by an employee, not the property manager that someone was caught storing food in their unit and another neighboring tenant noticed seeing roaches. I was not comfortable hearing this news and decided to give my unit a thorough inspection. Upon my inspection, I found that 85% of my valuable were destroyed by rat feces (runny and solid), urine and I had holes in my boxes and furniture! Do not store your valuables here! The property managers are lacking in customer service skills and are oblivious to the to the public health issues that are happening in their facility! read more

I was originally supposed to be at their location in Alameda, a series of wrong/mis information forced me to have to move to the Hegenberger location (I had movers coming the following day and needed something right away). The Hegenberger location is disgusting, the day I moved in there was garbage spilling into the hallway from various units. The front gate was broken on multiple occasions which would have allowed anyone to drive in. The final straw was this past weekend when I went to grab some stuff and found some of my possessions on the inside of the door had been splattered with some mystery liquid (I shudder to think what) and smelled horrendous. It was not like that a month ago when I went in. The front desk was less than helpful and basically said "it happens, there are really nasty people in Oakland" which was less than comforting or helpful. I'm moving my business to another company in Alameda, never again! read more

They said the space we got was the only one available at the time of our inquiry. It had damaged walls and a very hard to open door. It was not the full size I had requested. Then, they upped their rent! We stayed, only because we are almost done emptying our house and didn't want the work & time expenditure to move it all again. While I was there I met a very kind sweet young lady with a very unique yet beautiful name of mauela. She was such a great help. She was very honest and helped me pack my things properly into boxes. She also was very good at selling me some moving supplies that I might need while I pack up my stuff. The place was very clean and I would definitely recommend this place with the help of the friendly staff especially with the help of mauela you won't go wrong because this girl knows her stuff. read more
