If I could give less than one star I would. No one is ever at the location. 5910 E. McDowell in Mesa. From when I first rented my unit six months ago until now and I am going to be exiting within a week. They did everything over the app. You cannot talk to a person and I have never seen anyone there except for one time. I have called and asked for a return call Because I want to know if I need to give them notice before I leave. No one has ever called back. My daughter has a unit there also and with the last rain it got a lot of water in it. read more

Advertised "Climate Controlled" to me, but the space was constantly over 80 degrees, close to 90 degrees F at times. In addition, the locker was dirty and had shoe prints and other debris on the walls. Then, to top it, they raised my rent by 30% (almost forty dollars) per month within a couple months of me moving in. This place is NOT worth the money in my opinion. Update: please note that even if you "schedule" your move out two weeks in advance it may not work. I scheduled my move out yesterday with my move out date two weeks from yesterday, and im glad i moved my stuff out prior, because i lost access immediately. read more

This storage does not have AC cooled units. A little over an hour later after finding out content must be stored in AC we cancelled the unit and they charged us the admit fee so we only got refunded one month rent not even including the sales tax. I'm a disabled veteran on a seriously limited income of my disability only and cannot work. I used Public Storage from approx 11/24 - 7/25, specifically a 10x15' unit for my household goods unable to keep in my apartment. My lease there ran from the first of each month and because I was on auto pay PS would deduct my $140 monthly rental fee between the 2nd and 4th of each month. In June 25 I received notice that my rent was increasing to $190 - an increase of FIFTY DOLLARS per month. Clearly Public Storage was having no trouble filling units and as a result they felt demand warranted an almost 25 percent increase. So I started moving my stuff out in June. Because of my shoulder and back disabilities it took my all month to get my stuff out, and by the afternoon of July 2nd I was completely out of my unit. On my way out of the complex for the final time I stopped by the manager's office to let them know and - AS USUAL - the office was locked. No one in sight. The manager lives on site, BTW and despite that is virtually NEVER in the office there. So I tried calling while I sat out front - of course, again despite the manager living on site, no one answers the phone either so, voicemail. I left a VM letting them know and asking for a return call. No return call so I tried again on the 3rd - voicemail, left another VM. Because of the holiday (4th of July) I waited until the 5th to try again - nothing. Unbelievably on July 5th I get an email from Public Storage telling me they deducted July's rent from my bank account - they took $140 from my account despite vacating the unit and letting the manager know IMMEDIATELY. So I called Public Storage corporate - the calls go offshore to Asia somewhere and for me, the customer service rep was difficult to understand - my but I let the rep know I vacated the unit and that I had let the onsite manager know on that date - the 2nd. I asked if they could please at least prorate my rent to the 5th, despite my best efforts to let them know I was willing to let those 5 days. She said flatly NO. They took a FULL MONTH'S rent from me despite the unit being emptied, swept clean and ready to re-rent on the 2nd day of the month!! Never have I experienced such rude and obnoxiously unfair business practices. Public Storage can now, and likely DID double-dip on that unit by renting it out again. My opinion: STAY AWAY FROM PUBLIC STORAGE. You won't be in place for even a year, rents will increase and if you're not out by the first, they take a full month rent and refuse to help you no matter your circumstances. read more

It all started with the random raising of the rent. From $62 to $80something to $102 and for a 5x10 "climate controlled" unit. The A/C never worked in the first 6-9 months until it became cold outside to not need it on. Everything that was heat sensitive and stored inside the unit melted/warped. The final straw was when we found out that they power washed the units and the areas and our stored items received water damage. MAN MADE water damage that the property manager wouldn't acknowledge that he himself did. After cleaning out the unit to remove damaged items that THEY did themselves, we weren't even offered or let to use their dumpsters to remove our damaged property that we pay for them to take care of that they themselves damaged. read more

Very disappointing!!! I just received yet another price increase for my 10 x 15 space. Public Storage now intends to bill me $324.93/month. Cube Smart, located within 7 miles of my facility, is currently offering the same unit for $138/month (and this isn't a 'teaser' price). How does even make the remoteness of sense? I've tried reaching a Public Storage representative to discuss this HUGE disparity but have been unsuccessful. It's EXTREMELY difficult to actually speak with a human being at Public Storage. read more

Now I know why people insist on having a 3-car garage! After having moved into our beautiful home in NE Mesa (Red Mountain Ranch) we quickly figured out that we needed more room. Yesterday, on the fly, I found Public Storage just down the street from where we live. The entire customer / end-user experience was incredibly streamlined, professional, easy to understand, and within three hours I had a unit, rental contract, insurance, and all the stuff out of my home office and car and securely stored in our new rental unit. Well PS brags about their contactless access through the APP. However it doesn't work and worse locks you out for a minute from entering your code manually. Wasted 2 hours today to attempt to resolve this, put on hold then ignored for over an hour. Then used chat and they could not help either. Either get technical support or at least quite "pushing" this contactless access that does not work. OH and today both the elevator and restroom at my unit were not working and I am on the second floor. Would recommend trying a different storage unit if any of this matters to you. I will say the staff at the complex is friendly, their fix did not work either as that was the first step, they are the ones who told me to call the 866 number.. guess what, customer service told me to go to the location office to solve the issue, the very same people who sent me to them. I would not recommend this place at all. The security at this place is absolutely terrible and they are very negligent and dont care. Cameras don't work, lighting is bad, and front gate is always broken, making this place is a breeding ground for thieves. Our trailer and side by side were stolen and no video to persue the theives. I put my $23k car into storage for 3 months and paid $1000. This company tacked on storage insurance to my payments. When I returned and took the car out of storage, and the engine had been chewed up by rats to the point where I couldn't drive it. This put me in a very stressful situation. The storage insurance company is only offering to pay $250 for major damages. I am at a HUGE loss. I emailed the storage company and got NO response. I had to call, and was referred to the storage insurance company. Total scammers! read more

100+ Degree "Air Conditioned Storage Units" Their swamp coolers went out this last summer and no one called us to let us know. I went there about 3-4 times to put stuff in storage, and each time, it was well over 110 degrees. This is a service failure on Public Storage's part and no one will return my call. I even called the district Manager, D. Khadija, and he will not return my call. WE PAID FOR CONDITIONED SPACE! The funny thing is, the front desk clerk said I should sue them, because I would win. And rightfully so. She said she tried and tried to get them to fix the issue, but they wouldn't. She said that maybe someone would do something to fix their problems if someone finally sued them and made a point. I can't even get a partial refund to a price comparable to outside storage space, which is essentially what it was. This is a total rip off and I would suggest NEVER renting here. If you currently rent, I would take my business elsewhere. I called customer service after the fact and asked what protocol was if the AC went out (Swamp Coolers)... He said that P.S. would notify us so that we could move out stuff to a conditioned space, like what we paid for monthly. That's certainly NOT what happened. I would call this terrible business practice and never rent here, EVER. Good luck if you do. If you break their contract, they take your possessions and sell it off. If they break their contract, nothing happens and they make money on your unit...SICK! Where did "fair for one is fair for all" become null and void with business practices? Public Storage, You lied and didn't fulfill your part, but auto-drafted my money in expectation of me to live up to something contractual YOU couldn't even live up to? Wow... When I went into Public Storage, the customer service staff was so helpful to me to find several spaces that would be able to accommodate all of my house hold belongings. They did not have one space big enough, but helped me figure out what I would need. We drew up the contracts, and the explained in detail how the system was going to work. When I went into the office to complete my reservation I met Patty and she was just as friendly and accommodating. They both are willing to answer all of your questions, walk around the property to ensure the location for your RV storage is right for you (even when it is over 100 degrees outside). What a joke this place is been asking them to fix the lighting for the last 2 months in the back which is right up against the desert. Still has been fixed. I also work out of town I've been trying to call this place for the last week to pay my bill haven't been able to get through. Go figure. I prepay so I'm 7 days past my prepayment due date they locked me out and I've already charged me $40 extra. Would not recommend this storage place is complete rip off and they've been telling me for the last month and a half that they're going to fix the lighting and still haven't done so. And I'm not the only one that's complained about the lighting two other units on my row complained about the lighting to me at one point in time when I was there at night. We entered the front gates at around 8:50pm to just grab a suitcase from our storage unit, understanding that the gates close at 9pm. However, when we went to punch in our code to EXIT the gate AT EXACTLY 9:00pm our code would not work and we couldn't get out of the gate and we were trapped inside. We then went and knocked on the door of the office and a woman started lecturing us on the rules and we brought up a suggestion on how they should close the gates to get in at 9:00pm but give you a short grace period to be able to get out (sort of how when a clothing store says they close at 9:00pm, they lock the doors at 9:00pm so no one else can get in but the customers who were already in the store are still able to get out of the store a few minutes past 9:00pm and not be held hostage)! After calmly making that suggestion, a man proceeds to storm out of the office and told us we need to "get the f**k out" of there and threatened to call the cops on us for trespassing (which we were trying to get out of there at 9:00pm, but this altercation lasted about 5 minutes where we could've already been off their property but were instead being held behind the gate and being yelled at)! Moral of the story, DO NOT choose this place to store ANY of your items unless you want to be yelled at and threatened for trying to exit the gates at 9pm! We are currently in the process of finding another storage unit and RV storage space, as well as warning our other family and friends (who some are current customers and others were possible future customers) about this place! read more

Paying for air cooled storage does not mean your unit will be air cooled! The temp has already been over 110 degrees here and no air yet. Each time when asked "when will the air be turned on" there are many excuses like "next week" (that has not happened) or they "will contact the manager". To make matters worse they increase the rates every few months. Look elsewhere before getting stuck in a bad deal. read more
