If I could give 0 stars I would. I've been trying to access a very expensive interior unit that I rent for WEEKS but lost a key. I'm currently and very unfortunately renting multiple units. I cannot ever find anyone working nor does anyone answer the phone. I'm livid. They also have a HORRIBLE corporate customer service. The whole company is trash and will never get my business again. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ANY STORAGE COMPANY/FACILITY, EVER!!!!!! ======== They never return your calls about reported issues/problems - UNLESS IT'S ABOUT OWING THEM MONEY. The building my unit was located in was set on fire back on August 20th and they refused to allow me into my unit for more than a month, despite it not being in close proximity to the fire. They never even notified me of the fire until I appeared there several days later (on August 25th after driving 3.5 hours to get there) and couldn't access my unit because they had erected perimeter fencing. I was told by the Regional Manager (Mia Mozingo) that they hadn't notified anyone because they were waiting for the city to tell them it was safe to re-enter, and that Public Storage would waive my future rent until I had access to my unit again because I had to cancel my movers and the inventory inspection and couldn't access my home office equipment I needed for work/income. Both Ms. Mozingo and the leasing agent onsite then further refused to acknowledge in any formal notification (despite my request) that there was even a fire or that I was denied access - until more than a month later when I was informed my unit was behind in rent for the time they held my possessions hostage, and that I needed to pay the rent AND a late fee or my possessions would be seized and auctioned - DESPITE STILL BEING DENIED ACCESS TO THE UNIT ON MY MULTIPLE VISITS over the course of the month BECAUSE OF THE PERIMITER FENCING AND CONSTRUCTION CREW WORKING AROUND THE BUILDING PREVENTING ANYONE ACCESS. I called regularly for updates on access and the one and only time I reached a person at the facility (on September 5th, I was informed that my unit was still inaccessible). I asked for an email and phone number for the Regional Manager and was told "We don't give out employee emails or phone numbers. You have to send and email to wecare@publicstorage.com. I sent an email that afternoon and also copied my email and submitted twice on the 'contact us' page on the website...and guess what, RECEIVED NO RESPONSE or even a call back. Therefore, on the 7th of September I drove up and filmed the facility, my denied access, and a conversation with members of the construction crew. Then, finally, the first and only outbound update communication of the issue which arrived by email (on the 22nd of September while I was traveling several states away for work) read that Public Storage had "immediately" attempted to reach me by phone multiple times since the day it happened back on August 20 (which was complete fabricated BS as you read earlier in my post). Adding further insult and BS, that this was "the last and final notice I would receive" about the fire and that I had less than one week to get in there to inspect the damage to my possessions or they'd consider my property forfeit. I presume this blatantly fraudulent message was designed to protect Public Storage and shield them from any appropriate responsible action in service to their customers. AGAIN, the ONLY notification prior to that letter was the face-to-face meeting onsite. I even had to call the Public Storage corporate customer service number to even get a return call from the Regional Manager about my previous voicemails, and all she said in response to my detailed voicemail was "Tried to reach you, call back at your convenience" again avoiding any commitment to resolution. Further, when I was on the phone with Customer Service agent (who was actually understanding) she must have been texting the Regional Manager to call me, because the RM's call came in when I was on phone with Customer Service which is why it went to voicemail which is why I missed it. When I did try to call the RM and also the office back multiple times - after I cut my travel short to visit my unit - I was again rewarded with voicemail boxes and no return calls. At this point if I could drive a moving truck through the gate and rescue my possessions I would. My advice...DO NOT RENT HERE. Completely unprofessional and poorly trained. The rep in the front me I should check the other floors since he does work this location..,. The staff here are wonderful. I cannot recall the woman's name who checked me in the first day, but she was super helpful and very professional. I also have spoken with several different people on the phone who were also very friendly. I started renting on April 1st and everything went smoothly - I thought I had enrolled in auto-pay, but apparently I hadn't since Patrick called me yesterday to let me know I had been charged a late fee for May's rent. He had great customer service and I understand there wasn't anything he could do about the fee. He gave me the number for Devin Moreno (the regional property manager) who has yet to get back in touch with me. I left him a voicemail yesterday morning and tried calling again today - nothing. All in all, I'd recommend this location if you sign up for autopay and just need a place to store some things. If you're looking for superior customer service from management, go somewhere else. **I've also read some reviews on here about them "forcing" you to sign up for their insurance. It is VA state law to have insurance on your rental unit. I had to sign up for it and then I cancelled it online as soon as I got home. Yes, you have to sign up when you check-in, but that's just the company protecting themselves. If you do it correctly, you don't ever pay for it and you can use your own personal property insurance.** read more

Even set us up with a large unit right around the corner from our small unit. No stairs or elevator needed to move our stuff from one to the other. They were all smile and thank you's when I started my rental but I received major attitude when I found out that they don't pro-rate the rentals. All I have to say is don't reserve a unit on the second floor. The property's elevator has been broken for 3 weeks now. My wife and I just moved into the area and haven't been able to access our unit for the last 2 weeks. Unfortunately we have a ton of heavy boxes and furniture that won't be easy to carry up a stairwell. Neither the property manager or district manager has been able to provide me with a date of when it's scheduled to be fixed. I'm not sure how you can operate a storage property without having a functioning elevator. I understand that elevators can break down, but one would think that a manager would get that fixed right away rather than wait almost a month! The district manager (Greg) was rude and unapologetic when I spoke to him on the phone. All he told me was to use the stairs. I asked if we would be able to receive a refund and he said no. We're pretty much going to be living with boxes in our living room and bedrooms until they get the elevator fixed. I really feel bad for anyone who has to move stuff out of their unit. Do yourself a favor and get store your belongings somewhere else! read more

Customer Service is quite underwhelming. After calling to confirm my arrival at 0515pm, I showed up at 5pm and the representative looked at me and darted out the back door. Needless to say I assumed she had to use the restroom or something so I waited patiently. 0540pm is here and they finally come from the back. I am not greeted at all, she unlocked the door to let me in and I asked what happened to my 0515 appointment. The response was she was assisting other customers, but since I was there for 45min waiting I was able to witness people coming or going and no one was there beyond myself and my coworker who offered to help, which he pointed out that She came to help him once she seen him standing at the glass door, mind you, I was there 2 minutes earlier but she was no where insight. I'll leave that to the imagination of why he received service quickly and I only received someone running away from me. Moreover, the facility is not worth the money. The Gate to exit is broken leaving it almost impossible to make a U-Turn to exit out the front gate. My unit is suppose to be climate controlled, but my property feels like it's below the controlled temperature. The advertised charge went up about $20 after paying hidden fees. I've been assessed a $52 late fee for not paying on the day of bill being due. The only notice I received was a delinquent notice, and I take responsibility for being late, but a reminder of an email or phone call would've been great. Good thing was 1-800 customary service was pleasant and friendly. They release me from the late fee for a "one time only" due to poor explanation from this property. I usually don't go into details on reviews, but I do not want anyone to have high expectations when using this storage to house your property. read more

I had a unit here from July 2015 until November 2015. It was supposed to be climate controlled. When I rented the unit I requested climate control and asked her when we looked at it. Maybe it was but upon emptying my things it does not appear to have been. I have used many storage units and found more dirty on my wrapped items then I have ever had before. Also several of my boxes which contained no food were full of bugs. Pretty gross. I had several occasions when I reached out to them and no one would call me back. There will be times when you want to access your storage unit after 9 pm. Forget about. They close at 9 pm. Why? No one knows. I asked Public Storage and all they said was "security," but their employees leave at 6 pm anyway so why arbitrarily close the gate at 9? I was headed there shortly before 9. I would be able to get in by 9 but not out. I called and they said I "probably" couldn't open the gate if I was in their after 9, but they would open the pedestrian exit and I could leave my car there... They said they wouldn't be able to tell me if I can drive out after 9 pm until I'm in there after 9 pm. They're inflexible, illogical, and I'm sure there are better storage places out there. read more

The staff are professional. The units are basic and sufficient. I made a promotional reservation for a second storage unit and they called me several times to confirm the appointment, but failed to tell me that I would not qualify for the promotion because I received one on my first unit. The price was more than double the promotional price and I was in a time crunch and settled for it. I have also been charged a late fee on the day my payment was due and was told I had to call customer service's 1-800 number to get the charge removed. This is by far the worst location and company in general. Before you sign ANYTHING with them. Read the contract. By law you have to have your stuff insured - aka Renters insurance. Be careful for this location will tell you that you have to purchase their insurance for your storage unit. However, you car insurance provider can also insure your storage unit for you which is much cheaper, especially if you already have renters insurance with them. They will ring up your monthly rent incorrectly, as well as upcharge your rent after six months as it's their "prerogative to do so." And the rate increase is to their discretion. Also, they will pro-rate your move in month but not your move out date. So, if you move out on the 3rd or 6th or the 10th of the month. Be prepared to pay the full months rent, like me. Its "company policy and there is nothing we can do" - regional and district manager. Not worth your time to try and find someone to give you a more reasonable hour. This is absolutely the worst customer service anywhere. The head manager has a terrible attitude. When we started our contract I told the gentleman that I needed a storage unit right next to a electrical outlet. He said no problem and gave me a unit 3 doors from the outlet. I was in my unit working on my copy machine when I notice two manages driving by on a golf cart. The general manager took it upon herself and unplug my machine while I was looking at the screen. She proceeded to walk away and I said " what the heck are you doing". She threw my cord on the ground and gave me this bitchy attitude about I can not use any outlets. I told her that was the reason I rented the unit. I was in the middle of upgrading firmware on my copier and she distroyed the board by disconnecting my machine without first giving me any explanation. The second manager some kid tells me if I don't like it go somewhere else. I had to called the corporate manager to explain that I am a paying customer and don't deserve to be treated like trash. The manager don't pay themselves we the customers. She needs to be fired with this type of behavior. I am taking my monthly $150 elsewhere. read more
