Positives: There are many units available in the climate controlled building. Strong moving carts are available there to assist with your moving. Lights come on automatically when you enter the building. And you are required to enter your pass code to enter the building and then pass thru the door to the units. Finally, if there is a problem with your monthly payment, they will reach out to you on the phone rather than send a letter and cause late fees to track up (I had a card expire, so I found this a great courtesy). Negatives: The only easy way to enter is to take the access road heading north. If you are coming from the north, it's a huge hassle going through parking lots and businesses. Also, your monthly rate will go up on you no matter what. read more

The unit we rented ended up having a pole in it which was undisclosed. When we asked to move to a same size unit we were informed that the other unit was more expensive. Same size, same floor but they wouldn't honor the same price. Not only that, I could not get the property manager to call me back while our movers were there to try to rectify the situation. The home office couldn't help either. I did receive a call the next afternoon which was too little too late. It was not a good interaction at all. The pole should have been disclosed when I was given the unit through the kiosk and it wasn't. As soon as we can we will be moving our stuff out. They tried to tell me that the unit we got was on special for no special reason but the same size unit on the same floor ( without a pole in it) was not. Imagine that. *Do not* rent from this facility. My unit was broken into at some point over the last month. They are aware of break ins happening (for over a week now, the front desk staff told me!) & have done NOTHING about it. The cameras in the back building have been spray painted over (again, something they are aware of & have done nothing about) so there is no security footage to look back on. Good location if you're near here otherwise not so much. Paperwork is paperwork and you gotta read it, first month... insurance... billing cycle... No real issues except that my truckster doesn't quite match the dock so everything needed a little extra lift or push. Getting in was quick but then a change of plans because, well, people... so relocate to a bigger box! Grounds and building are clean and well kept and well lit. Touch pads work well - no pounding needed except the pound key - and there's tones so you know you buttoned the buttons. Staff has been great to work with and made sure we were familiar with the property, equipments, and the rules. We'll see how it goes coming out... meanwhile yea for us!! read more

OK... So the only reason I am giving them a 1 star is because of their "Bait & switch" pricing. The Facility was actually fine and the people that work there are nice, but their business practice of luring in customers by a low price and then jacking them up quickly is deceitful & Slimy at best ! I know that's what business do... but you guys beware that they will jack up your rent fast. So.. to be specific!!!! I started my Rent at $64/month for a small 3.5'x12' unit. that's what they quoted me and that sounded pretty good ( at first). Then after a quick 4 months later they raised it to $84!!! (I though...Ok, $20 buck more... I can live it ) And THEN then 9 months later to $113. So almost DOUBLE about 1 year later. So I moved out. I'll support the small guy next time....... this is just another Scammy business screwing people over. Just be honest and upfront P.S....... I am not impressed with your business model because I will never come back to you.... and I will tell people to go find someone else that's honest upfront because you're just going to upcharge them asap. I needed a storage transfer for more space. I wasn't exactly sure how much space was going to be adequate but Ron was great in assisting me and eyeballing the situation. When I dialed the number to call the storage, it was picked up at the corporate level. It was such a pleasant call and conversation, I was very impressed. Then after the reservation was nearing its completion, I was directed to the facility and that ordeal was just as satisfying and pleasing as the corperate level. And the prices were unbelievably low. Provided lock from the facility is unusable after locking up for the first time. The key broke off in the lock after locking up and trying to remove it. Visited the office for assistance the next day. The staff were friendly, but unhelpful. They said it can take up to 30 days to have someone come out to cut the lock. They suggested hiring a lock smith that would cost $100. They did not offer to replace the $20 lock that they provided. read more

It was pretty easy to get everything done online and the unit was ready to go for us upon our arrival.

My husband and I have had a unit at this location for several years now and have never had any problems. In terms of security they really are great at this location. Gates in front and back require security codes that only work during specific hours. I have no worries of anybody showing up at 2 or 3 a.m. that may try to steal of have other unsavory reasons for being there as this place is locked tight. I learned this one evening while unloading a couple of items into my unit it was near closing and I lost track of time. By the time we finished it was only 10 min. past the closing hour. Normally you wouldn't think anything of this because the gates have a security code to let you in and out but when we went up to the gate and put in our code to let ourselves out we realized we were locked in. Those gates were sealed and there was no opening in them we call the 800 number spoke to the customer service person on the phone and they were able to remotely open the gate and let us out this only took us about 5 to 10 minutes. This may be an irritant to some people but to be honest it just goes to show how secure things are. Those gates lock and will not open even if you have the code during closed hours. We took on another unit at the end of last year in addition to my existing one to store some family belongings while we sorted through them. The customer service at this location on 13675 N. US 183 is wonderful they are very kind and helpful during a difficult time for us. They assisted us to make sure we got the right unit size. It was a hard time as the belongings were my father-in-law's who had just passed. They made the process easy, straightforward, and fast which we really appreciated. Upon emptying the unit early this morning everything went smoothly. We hired movers to get the last items out as they were going to deliver them to a family member. Trina reached out me via my cell to confirm that everything had been cleared out. The reason she did this was to save me time and to keep me from having to drive in some very rainy weather. It's little things like that, that make a big difference. We've had nothing but excellent service here and smiling faces every time we've come in. Trina in particular has been wonderful for thinking of those small things that really matter. As for our original unit we still have it after close to 5 years. We don't plan on leavening anytime soon because when you got a good thing don't mess with that. We have so many items that are sentimental to us and we just don't have room to store them in our home by keeping them here I know they're safe. All in all I have never used or been a customer of a storage facility like this one before. I've had quite a few different storage units in different businesses over the years in Austin and out of state but none even come close to taking care of customers and insuring the safety of your treasures. It's beyond safe and secure, the staff is considerate and helpful, (Trina is Amazing!) and the location is incredibly convenient. This is not a new business they have been there a while. Some places start to look run down after a few years but this place always looks impeccable inside and out. That says something, it shows they take pride in maintaining their facility and that matters. So if you're looking for a place that appreciates long-term customers and has excellent customer service on site that really do care then look no further and go here, you won't regret it. after a lot of research from Austin to Georgetown we chose the public storage off of 183 and the 45. Then we visited the property. WOW. They are so lucky to have an employee like Baida. She was so knowledgeable! EVERY question (and we had a lot), she listened intently, then responded with actual in depth answers. She took her time to show us several units as we even questioned our decisions on what we really needed from them. We went with a climate controlled unit. If I could rate this business 0 stars, I would. I have NEVER in my life dealt with such rude, inefficient and disrespectful people. We are using their facilities as a business and they have caused SO many issues and problems on our end - it has been one issue after another, month after month. We are in the process of locating a new storage facility just because the staff at both the local and 1-800 level are that bad. The customer service is beyond sub-par, it's almost unreal. They've inputted our account information wrong, causing us to make multiple trips across Austin, TX just to sign forms or revise information THEY inputted incorrectly. We've had to call in each month and get receipts because they were never emailed. The attendant on site, Cindy, has been so rude to us on multiple occasions when she, or her staff, have caused the errors, not us. I could go on and on and on, and on... This company and this particular location will cause you one headache after another, save yourself! I've used other storage places in Austin and they've been amazing - find those with 5 star reviews, this place definitely isn't it. read more

I chose this storage unit for business purposes and have had it for about 6 years. Upon resigning my position at work I tried to transition the unit to a coworker to use for the same purposes. I was met by the rudest employee I've ever seen at any Public Storage (we use the same units in multiple cities) and she informed me that it was impossible and that somebody else signing up would cost $200-$300 more per month. She hadn't even asked for my name, unit number or any other identifying information before telling me that what I wanted to do was impossible. When I told her I wanted to cancel and asked for anything I may need to fill out, she told me to just stop paying the bill and leave the lock off the unit. All of this with contempt and hostility in her demeanor. I know it's difficult to find good employees these days, but the "manager" working at this unit on Tuesday, 8/24/2021 was incompetent, rude and a terrible representative for any company. read more

Very courteous and helpful staff. However, I rented my 10X10 unit on 9/27, filled it on 10/3, and when I next returned on 10/27 it had been broken into and robbed! Other units have also been robbed, according to the staff. To reach my unit requires a person to enter a code at the gate, to enter a code at the climate-controlled building, and then a valid code for the first floor units. I will be gone by the end of the month. Also, the men's bathroom has been out of order for at least a month now. read more

I rented 2 spaces 4 months ago, one for $244, and one for $36, they now want to raise my rent to $314, and $49. I would rather move and pay $600 for the move than be raped like this,,,,,,,so I did. Well I rented there almost a year and they kept trying to raise the prices after only a few months. The office was always empty. Could never reach anyone by phone. I bought moving boxes was told I could return them if unused, the office was never open during "office hours" to actually return them. I finally caught them at the office and they said I was one day to late to return them. Overall I'd say go with a diff place that's more reliable and actually has staff present. I checked out of my storage unit and received no paperwork or proof of my move out. My name was also input incorrectly in the system. Cindy is very rude. In need of some basic customer service skills. Not just once but three times she yelled at us, even ran behind our car screaming at us not to put stuff in the dumpsters. Now, that may be the rule. However, they allowed several white customers to dump garbage, concrete and laundry baskets on the sides of the dumpster. Even after we informed them they were dumping. They said we know. But you can't dump there and we took pictures of your stuff. We offered to get everything and take it with us. But we had to come back because we already had two trunks filled. We came back and yet again. Another person l, started yelling at us from the office door. "Hey! Hey! You can't dump stuff there" Ugh. So frustrating. Will never recommend and never go back. Which is sad, because our public storage experience is limited and this just made me never want to become affiliated with them. read more

Really disappointed. Public storage is not ethical at all. We were told our rate was "locked in" and we wouldn't have to deal with increased rate changes for the existence of us using this facility. We got a "deal" for around $53 a month last summer and like I said it was supposedly a "locked in" rate that under no circumstances would change according to the slick sales guy. When we went to the actual facility the sketchy manager was condescending to my Harvard educated attorney husband who had read the contract etc. and was questioning him on things he found sketchy. When we got the increased rate letter in the mail after the holidays my husband once again called the company and the loser guy on the other end of the phone was rude and we knew we were done with this horrible company. We should have gone with our gut feeling and never used this company or facility and we are moving our stuff out today and using a smaller locally owned place. I suggest you do the same. read more

Inside, climate controlled unit. You would think it would be secure, but I had over $10,000 stolen out of it in late 2019. Turns out the bar at top of the inside units is flimsy, and anyone can crawl over the top of most inside units in the building where my unit is located, even the Austin PD Officer that came said he could get in the unit easily. They did take finger prints, so I hope they catch the culprits. A detective was assigned to the case. By the way, with a decent step ladder, anyone can look over the top of the unit to see what's inside. This Public Storage had no cameras that were of any use covering the inside units in my bin area. After paying my insurance deductible, my insurance covered 80% of the rest of the loss. The manager told me my unit was not the only inside unit that had property stolen out of it. After the theft, I asked if they could reduce my monthly payment, to help make up for the theft loss, they said no, and in fact instead they increased the monthly rent to over $350 per month. Unbelievable, but sadly true. Also unfortunate one can't give 0 stars. read more

Deceptive trade practices. the original move in cost was described as $1 + $24 administrative costs for the first month. However after charging me for a special lock that was needed for their doors and conning me into buying their Orange door insurance policy (which they failed to mention my home owners insurance would be a perfectly acceptable substitute) my first months bill turned out to be $79.04. When I cancelled the Orange Door policy the following day.... their "policy" was no refund possible. read more
