Wish I could give zero stars. Everything in our unit was destroyed by rats! They peed & pooped on everything. They ate through our plastic bins and mutilated the contents. They even chewed through bottles of cleaning spray & brake fluid, leaving more of a mess for us clean up. Management would not give us any compensation after repeated attempts. I rented a unit all online. I was assigned a unit which is in the most precarious location for unloading last night. First, the light did not work and we had arrived at 6-ish and had no light. This was a big deal because it was tucked away at the end of a building and had about 10' in front of it. So could barely get close enough to the unit itself and no room? No light? No street light? This caused my movers at least an extra 1/2 of work which cost me an extra $75. Not happy! read more

RATS!!! We stored a specialty above ground pool for ONE month until we were ready to install. Thinking it would be safer in storage than outside our house. What a horrible decision that was! We returned to retrieve the pool and it was completely destroyed beyond any hope of repair by rats. They chewed holes in the lining in numerous places 6inches or more in diameter. They chewed the hoses. Everything ruined. Our very expensive pool we were so excited to set up gone. Thousands of dollars lost. I set up a storage room in error at this location, noticed the error immediately and called to cancel. I was advised the agreement for the storage room at this location was cancelled. I set up a storage room at the correct location paid the fees and put my things in storage. I never received a refund and now I have an 84$ balance. This is poor customer service. Do NOT rent from Public Storage. They raise rates nearly every month! We rented 2 different units from the facility at 12342 RM-620 .. the rent started at $138 approximately... then $15 for insurance on top of that ... in less than three months the rent has increased to $234 for each unit! Each time we've visited the units we've seen others moving out for the same reason ... completely unethical and predatory practices ... they bank on it being costly and difficult to move your belongings to another facility. ... I am specifically rating the RR 620 location in Austin. The place was conveniently located and seemed to have good reviews. I found out later that a lot has changed in the last year or two with this location. They have changed it to a kiosk operated center so finding an employee is usually impossible. My unit did not have lights nor a door that would stay up yet that did not stop them from continuing to increase the monthly price 65% in the year and a half I was there. Nor did the rat problem or broken gate. For a week or more the gate was just left open for anyone to get through. Then the opposite happened. I had planned to move some of my stuff and rented a truck and showed up and 3 people were waiting by the gate not able to get in. We all tried our codes with no luck. No employee on site. I called the service number and had to leave a voicemail. I never got a call back. I checked back later and the gate had started working. No apology, explanation, or a call back. My business will still need storage space so I will have to find a better place farther away. read more

Would not recommend if you are looking for a reasonably priced unit. Giving renters a a one month notice that you are adding $30 a month is ridiculous to the contract price is ridiculous. Received an email that our 5x10 space is going from $72 to $100 in May plus $15 for insurance. $115 is ridiculous for a 5x10 space, I could by a shed for this price a month. For an outside unit with no good lighting at night it isn't worth it. read more

If I could give no stars I would. This company would not let me lock in a 6 month or more rate and forced me to take a month to month. Then my rate went from $282 to $357 after a few months. When I called for an explanation they said they have the right to raise basically to whatever the market will bear as long as provide a 30-day notice. And of course, there is a shortage of units so no one can move in a timely manner so then they take advantage and gouge customers. Just ridiculous. Stay away from the BS from PS! RATS!! a lot of my stuff are damaged by rats and when i tried to create a new claim with their insurance, they said only covers up to $250 but in the beginning they were saying it will cover up to $5000. it's has been in process for couple of weeks now and haven't get anything from them. They customer service is the worst when i asked for my refund , the person who was over the phone hanged up phone and didn't let me even explain. Terrible experience with Uhaul. Had a reservation which was set days ago to pick-up a truck Saturday at 2pm. Rushed back from a funeral and got there at 1:30 only to be told there was no truck. Was told "it is a busy time of year". NO KIDDING THAT IS WHY WE HAD A RESERVATION. oh we have one on the other side of toOn 45 min away. Half way there get a call....oh they rented that out to someone else. So unprofessional. They are all clueless and have zero since of urgency to fixed their issue. read more

We first spoke to Ruby and she was very nice. Gave us info we needed to determine which size unit to rent, showed one available that was close to what we were looking for, but wasn't actually the right size. So we decided to re-evaluate and check if the right size would be available later. Fortunately, the right size was available the next time we checked. McKensie showed it to us, location was good, easy to access and price was reasonable. So, McKensie fixed us up with lock, keys and access code and a few days later we were moving stuff into the unit. Everything went well. Both Ruby and McKensie were great to deal with and we even saw McKensie showing another possible tenant around the day we were moving in our stuff. Stay away from the ranch road 620 location in Austin. I was renting a storage unit a little further west on 620 and never had a problem or rent increase. Switched to public storage due to it being climate controlled even though it was more expensive, which was expected since it was climate controlled, rent went up three times in two years, so I decided to close it out. We did what was told, clean it out and took the lock by the last day of November. Then December 1st, I get billed for December, when I call to ask why, they said we weren't out by closing time the day before. We were out by noon the day before, check the punches, you have to use a code to get in and out. They check and say they see we were out by noon, and did not go back in, apologize saying the 620 place is a kiosk ran location, and they only have employees there a couple days a week. So I guess they just automatically charge everyone, no one actually checking if you were out on time or not. They said they would waive the charge, not to worry about it. Waive, you mean correct the charge, we were out when we were suppose to be. Now January, I get a letter from a debt collector!!! Oh my goodness. And there are no dumpsters to throw anything away when you move out. Rent started at $107 for a 10 x 10 then went up to $169 when we closed it out, quite a significant increase. I am going to dispute the charges and am on hold right now for 40 minutes still waiting to speak to someone at public storage about the issue, been transferred three times with no help. So I over the phone reserved a storage unit, gentleman was a pleasure to work with. I wasn't expecting on storing items, but my uhaul load was bigger than my apt lol. I told him we were in a town e crunch, as the uhaul needed to be turned in and my bf has to be at work. He responded " no problem" and contacted management at the facility to make sure it was available and a quick pull up and go. So I get there with said uhaul that you can visibly see through their window ( as it pulls right up to the door) . It's 3:45 .. I walk in and it's just a lady behind the counter, she talking to what looks like a friend or fellow employee. Looks at me all irritated or distressed and says " ummmm can I help you with something " all snippy like. Which I replied "ummm yes, I have a reservation for a storage unit, hence the giant uhaul I just got out of . Like I'm obviously not here to sell you Girl Scout cookies. She pauses and goes, ohhh well I have a person in front of you so your looking at a 45 min to an hour wait. I'm like are you serious! I did everything online, I just needed to show my Id to pick up the key according to the csr over the phone. So all I see is a little old lady in and unpacked car sitting outside . But that's it, how long can one person take to get a storage unit key! Especially if it's already reserved. Side note what is the $25 admin fee? So this chick can deny you timely service? There's dozens of storage options, they aren't the cheapest. $84 a month for a 5|x10 Space. Maybe the other reviews were fir different staff? I don't know. But I'll just find another place.
