The location is very clean. The security gate was in good working working order (a must for storage companies), and the storage room options were very good. I wouldnt give one star if i didnt have to. The one by Lamar Transit stay away from them!! Well actually its the district manager. I wouldnt take a unit for free because of how they did me. Made me vacate because during the bad storms that sadly took peoples lives,i got caught in my unit and storms were very bad. Female employee came yelling and rude told me to leave now. It was bad i waited for it to let ip some then i left still got soaked. Then i assume this is why i had to vacate. I never was told exactly what i did They changed the locks hours before they were supposed to. Now my belongings all my clothes,medicine its all in the unit and they wont let me have them even though i came in time they alreafy changed locks. Im in talks with the BBB now anout this. I WOULD NOTTTTTT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! Stay away from them go elsewhere believe me. They will screw you over. Rent went from around $52 a month to around $84. I hesrd they raise it often but no employee knows public relations. They are rude as....yeh. Here's the problem. Self-storage is basically a leave-it-alone and do-it-yourself thing so there's not much to review, except that they are dishonest in their billing practices. Don't go here, the price you get won't last long. Right now they are offering the same storage - 10x10 drive up, for a sale price of $65 / mo instead of the usual $105. however, they are charging me $185, plus $15 insurance, plus all sorts of "security fees" that make my monthly fee $240! So yes, I just moved out today and got a new space at a different storage (same size) for $70/mo. read more

So, I'll say Public Storage is pretty good overall. What's frustrating, though, is they force you to buy insurance on the unit when you checkout online. The first month is "free" (is it free if it's not optional?), and then they start dinging you for $15/month for $5,000 of coverage until you cancel. That's a huge ripoff! Your home or renter's policy TYPICALLY covers stuff in storage for 1/10th that price. In short, it's a terrible insurance policy you probably don't need that they force onto you to start... It's up to you to cancel it, so they almost always get you once or twice before you do it! read more

The public storage on Owen tech kicked back my check in the app. It's$ a scam to make the customer have to pay a late fee then they add another late fee. The public storage app would not take my visa card and had been taking it for a year. Scamming hard-working people to collect more money. I started out paying $173 for 2 months then went up to $193 and now $232. The Public did not inform me that the storage fees were going up in rate. People have a budget and my budget was already tapped out. So, they have your belongings hostage so public storage knows that the customer is going to pay the rent and fees. This is the first time I have had a storage in my life. I heard from other people how this operation works and now I am dealing with this firsthand experiance. This was the biggest mistake I have ever done in going to deal with public storage. Never again. read more

Sometimes I'm not able to be there when deliveries happen but Brad works with the carriers to make sure they can access my unit while stay keeping it secured. Highly recommend! read more

I can't say enough about how responsive and helpful Nicole was at the Public Storage at 8128 N Lamar Blvd. I was emptying out a locker I had for some time. It was hot and I'm not a young chick. Nicole came to see if I needed help. She helped me with the last 2 items and was a God send to me. I emptied and swept the locker in a somewhat timely manner. A big thank you goes out to Nicole. We set up a lease and moved our stuff in on May 17. There was some confusion, mainly because I ***thought*** I was getting a deal where the first month's rent was only $1. Bottom line is, on or around June 10'th I got a phone call from April informing me that we were locked out of our unit and that our stuff would be AUCTIONED OFF if we did not pay within the next few weeks. Of course, I paid immediately but I could not believe that they were preparing to steal our stuff within a month of our move-in date. When we moved out, April explained to me that that phone call was a "courtesy" and in-fact they don't actually have to call us at all. These people have no respect for you or your stuff. I needed a storage unit fast and went in this location. April was so helpful and nice, she explained everything to me and put me at ease. Every time she sees me she always waves and says hi, it's nice to feel like a business remembers you. Definitely will recommend them to anyone. read more

I will never rent from another public storage again. Although I have not had any issues with personnel at the Lamar Location, the company is a joke. When initially setting up my online reservation - I was told one price, only to have the pricing changed when I actually got to PS with all of my things. Not really much you can do at that point.... I have had my storage unit a little over a year now. When planning my move out I looked on their website and went through the steps. On their website it says that they "recommend you schedule your move-out before the 1st of the month because in "SOME" cases, we can pro-rate your rent for the last month"..... what it really should say is - WE WILL ONLY PRO-RATE YOUR RENT IF IT IS BEFORE THE 6TH OF THE MONTH...IF YOU MOVE OUT ON THE 7TH WELL YOU'RE PAYING A FULL MONTH. Pretty much a big F' You for being a loyal customer for over a year.... read more

Hello. Good location. New manager has made positive changes to property's security. I know it's an outdoor facility but upon vacating my unit, in the corner (INSIDE unit), I found a big pile of rodent droppings. No damage to my property which is more than I can say for a Public Storage on 1000 Oaks in San Antonio. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BACK STORY: Last year, March 2013, I rented a small unit here planning on a short stay -- 3/4 months. Well, more than a year later, I finally packed my crap and added it to my unit in San Antonio!). I went w/ this Public Storage location b/c it's pretty central and easy to get to. However, as I soon found out LAST SUMMER, it could also be pretty shady and uncertain. If I had to visit the unit my myself (much to the dismay of my friends), I ALWAYS had a plan w/ a friend re: call on the cell at a certain time, key words to use if there was trouble, etc. While I never had anything serious occur to me personally or to my belongings, on more than one occasion, there would be characters just "wandering" around, stopping to BS, etc. FAST FORWARD TO 8 MONTHS AGO TO PRESENT: I met April the first week or so that she'd started at my Public Storage, she was on the phone trying patiently, diplomatically, firmly to reason with the mother of a rent (as I could ascertain from her comments!). Anyway, in the last 6 mos or so, there's been a definite "lift" on my safety concerns. April always seems "on it" and is always willing to talk about any concerns or updates I might have. I made a reservation online, and was pleasantly surprised the next day when I went to sign the rental terms, that there was a new promotion that I was qualified for!
