This was a great find at the Stockyards in Ft Worth. We went in a Sunday evening and did not have an issue getting a table. The service was very good. Our waiter was knowledgeable and efficient. I ordered the chicken fried steak and my husband had the red fish. The red fish was fried and not what he expected. However, he said that is was delicious as well as the sweet potatoes. My CFS was one of the best I've had. We definitely will be back next time we are in town. read more

It's been a couple years since I've been back to the Stockyards and I HADDD to come back for the smoked trout dip, which was just as good as I remembered. Tried the Turkey club this time as well which was super tasty. My favorite thing is to sit out on the patio for the endless people watching. But what made this whole experience back at the yards even better was our server, Evan. Just his outgoing personality as he chatted with us like old friends and cackling hens. Aside from the great food and fantastic drinks - which, mind you, all I told Evan was "fruity and vodka" and he came back with such a tasty and refreshing drink! Evan made this a 10/10 experience. We loved visiting Provender Hall twice during our visits to the Stockyards - once for a quick drink (paloma, delicious) and then the next night for a wonderful dinner upstairs. The neatest part about the bar is you can get a to-go cup, you can take it anywhere on the cobblestones. We had a wonderful dinner with our team on our last night in town. We started with oysters, fried green tomatoes, and deviled eggs and more. For my meal, I had the steak frites, but I asked him to sub out okra for the frites and he did! It was so delicious. They were accommodating and friendly, our server was fun and warm, the food was delicious, the drinks were cold and plentiful, and the overall experience was one I won't soon forget. Excellent food--we ended up eating here twice. We had fried green potatoes and split chicken fried steak for dinner. The next morning, came back for the breakfast sandwich. I worried because the restaurant is in the middle of a touristy area, usually a bad sign. Not here. Haven't been here in four years and we were so excited to revisit for a special occasion. I love this building!! What a disappointment! (And we are EASY to please!) Our appetizer was inedible. It sat there uneaten and I told the waiter he could take it and he did not care to ask why we had each taken one bite and could not touch the rest. I took three bites of my chopped beef sandwich and one bite was pure fat and the other two were pieces of brisket that never disappeared after a long time of chewing! Tough, spongy, nasty brisket. Disgusting. No apologies no free dessert, I left starving and no one there cared a bit. My husband's burger looked less quality than a fast food burger. Flat and nothing special. My son liked his steak. The manager or owner walked by us several times and saw us discussing the multiple problems and didn't think twice to stop. Very dismissive service, intentionally choosing to ignore our problems. Had to stop down the street to get a brisket sandwich on the way home. Bummer! Here again is a very cool venue. Marcus Pasly has done a terrific job of restoring and converting an historic building into a very interesting and enjoyable setting for his American comfort food concept here. We came for a Friday lunch with friends. Parking here in the Stockyards is an impossible pain in the ass. We grudgingly pulled into a paid parking area on Exchange having resolved to cough up the fee, but the lot was full. So we went a block west of Main on Exchange and found a free street space on some residential side street. What the hell, Lord knows I needed the exercise. Were were attended to promptly and I ordered a Marg from the menu and it was quite good! We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes app... again very nicely done. We ordinarily would prolly not have considered this but we asked our server to tell us about the Grilled Trout Hoppin' John. After she left the table a diner at a nearby table who overheard the conversation came over, showed us his phone pic of the dish and said it was terrific. So we were in. We asked to share the dish as we are old timers with small appetites. Get this... the kitchen split the plates before serving. And no split plate charge. This, all you restaurants out there, is how a class store does this. It was indeed a tasty dish. The trout was perfectly cooked and the accompanying Hoppin' John was flavorful and worthy of any Low Country kitchen. This is definitely a do again sometime soon. I came here with a couple of coworkers for dinner. Nice location in the stockyards with a good vibe and open floor plan. Good drinks to start. We had deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes - perfect seasoning for the egg filling and the country ham on the fried green tomatoes was a nice touch. My coworkers got the steak frites and the shrimp and grits - they both said that they were really good. I had the grilled romaine salad. The smoke flavor on the grilled lettuce was delicious and the avocado/pork belly/vinaigrette combo was the perfect compliment. read more

PH will leave you with an incredibly mediocre, dissatisfying taste in your mouth while you ask yourself the reason for coming in the first place. I've regrettably been here three times and each time a worse experience than the previous. One of my favorite moments was overhearing a server complaining that he was about to have another table (our party of two) while his section had three small parties and the restaurant itself was barren. Just sad. But not a problem, we were seated upstairs and the server forgot a drink order and the food came half an hour later. I can't speak too much for the food, we've ordered the steak frites, burger, chopped beef sandwich, chicken club, gumbo over our visits. Nothing great they were just okay. I don't even want to describe the food too much because it's just not even worth going into detail. This restaurant is just being carried by it's geographic location. The talent and food is lacking. But if you can gest past the erratic service and bland food then this could be a fit for you. Nice atmosphere from the restaurant and exposure to the culture of the Stockyards. My fiancé and I have lived in downtown Fort Worth for a year now (me hailing from Indianapolis, Houston and Dallas; him from Oklahoma and Ohio). We wanted to get a better feel for the culture of Fort Worth, and this visit helped! The drinks were fairly priced. We got there at 8:45pm for our 9pm Resy reservation, and the hostess said we had to wait haha ok. After drinks at the bar we were taken upstairs to eat. I ordered the steak frites, which was WAY better than expected, and my man got the chicken fried steak which was edible but far from delicious. (I took a bite; and he didn't seem impressed.) Service was mediocre. Nothing impressive like at Del Frisco's Double Eagle (Main St. Fort Worth). Overall: Fun environment but don't expect to be wow'ed by the food. Being a fan of the Clay Pigeon for many years, I was excited to visit the other restaurant by chef Marcus. I had the chicken fried steak. Yum yum! Great flavor. Redfish not so great. Fish Sticks that were Breaded and deep fried. I do not think this represents the way Texans or southern people eat their redfish. Okra. Just okay. Too much breading and kind of greasy. Be warned Provender Hall is tourist trap and not a good indication of the great food to be found in Forth Worth. They have a great location and nice atmosphere, but there food is average. Unfortunately, many visitors will eats here and think this is true Texas cuisine. It isn't bad but it is not excellent. They really on their tourist location. My husband and I stopped in for a quick snack. It was a little off hours so it was wonderfully quiet, until a party of about 12 came in. The restaurant has a cool setting, food and service (Marissa) was great...but the noise ..so so loud. No curtains or flooring and this place is like a warehouse type restaurant. If you want a nice quiet quaint dinner skip it or come on off hours and hope for the Best! The ONLY REASON I gave it at 4 star is because of the noise. read more

First time visiting the Stockyards area and chose this restaurant for its location and ambiance. We were greatly warmly by host and our server. I ordered a hibiscus margarita and it arrived in an ugly bar glass and a few ice cubes. Pimento cheese spread was okay. We ordered the chicken fried steak and rib for 2. Chicken fried steak arrived cold, with the gravy congealed on top. Mashed potatoes tasteless and cold and greens were also cold. $70 rib was mostly fat and char with cold mashed potatoes. Banana pudding was served in a glass, had one Nilla wafer and a couple chunks of banana but mostly bland pudding. $200+ bill for a meh dining experience. I was expecting so much more and was extremely disappointed. I never leave reviews but couldn't let this one go. I encourage management to take a hard look at how they prepare and present their food. Everything we ate was delicious (burger, oysters, appetizers, salad etc.) drinks were delicious and we had the most knowledgeable server I have ever had! He was kind to my (annoying) dietary restrictions and very helpful to find a delicious meal that would make me feel good all night. Only mild frustration we came 14min early to our reservation at 5:30 and they said to come back? But tables were empty so little strange but perfect area so we walked around a bit. Love this great new restaurant by Marcus Paslay (Piatello and Clay Pigeon). They opened on July 7, and we had not been to the stockyards in a couple of years. Seemed like a great reason to go, and we are so glad we did. Provender didn't not disappoint! Both the food and the service was excellent. The fried green tomatoes are some of the best I've ever had, and I followed those up with a wedge salad, which was also excellent. The beef rib was outstanding, and my son loved the redfish. Two different groups of friends went last night and they had a similar, outstanding experience. Excited to return and try some other items. read more
