Unfortunately I didn't have the positive experience that others have had. I reached out and said I…read morewas told I needed a carb rebuild, Taylor said it was a flat rate and could do it for $700 budget I had. I explained his regular hourly rate was too high for me. I explained that I had a leak. AAA brought the bike over to him. He said he wouldn't have time for a few weeks to work on it. I asked to come meet him and talk about the bike when he was ready to work on it. A few days later he said the bike was finished and running. He didn't see the leak, put a new battery, adjusted the throttle and sent me on my way for $700. When I said I had wanted to meet first to discuss the work he called me a stalker and asked if I try to meet every mechanic before they work on my vehicles. The answer is actually yes. I would like a written estimate of work to do before work starts. Next thing I knew he didn't give me the option to remove bike and find someone that could address the real issue. I had to pay the $700 to get my bike back and after riding my bike 3-4 times the leak is heavy. If you want an expensive temporary fix and a rude mechanic he's your dude.

This is a review for Moto Exchange (new name for Rockridge Two Wheels)…read more These folks are fantastic. I had bought a used BV350 and discovered the oil filter door screws had been completely stripped. I had inquired at another shop and was told it was too risky to fix with the state of the screws. That it was likely once the door was removed it would not reattach and this would require replacing the whole engine casing and once you take into account parts/labor cost etc etc it would cost more than what the bike is worth. I was in the mindset that I was now riding this bike until it inevitably dies. Flashforward to now, and I take it into Moto Exchange for what Im thinking is its last oil change before the end. And I'm telling Alex about the stripped screws, I ask if he can take look on the faint hope that maybe they think something can be done. But I am not optimistic. Luckily for me the mechanics at Moto Exchange are top notch and were able to put in inserts so the oil filter door could safely reattach. After a full service and repairs of some other discovered leaks, my BV is running like new. ------- Very friendly and accessible vibes in the shop. Everything was clearly explained and I found communication to be excellent over the week or so it took to fully repair my bike. They called anytime there was a potential change or update to the repair job, explained clearly, and asked for explicit sign off. 10/10 experience.

The business is about as old school SF as you could hope for; an honest breath of fresh air. They are fair with their prices, deliver high quality work, and have always been kind and gone out of their way to finish repairs quickly and explain the process involved. Christina (hope I remembered her name correctly) is incredibly organized and communicative. On my last visit, Danny (one of the technicians) really went the extra mile on my behalf. Highly recommend!

I Do NOT recommend . First off I went in because I needed tires, I had a blow out in my rear tire and decided to just get both replaced. So, the tires were a little pricey and the labor charge was insane. But I value quality over price so I went for it. The tires are terrible (Michelin) it doesn't seem balanced and it just doesn't feel right. Usually with new tires I get this secure sensation when I ride ( not this time) Secondly, they were pitching me on other services that I found strange because I just had them done at a school with an instructor. Thirdly, on my way home, my storage box fell off my bike on the freeway, when I went back, they claimed they hadn't touched it, it was odd to me because, I ride everyday and had no issues. Lastly, instead of apologizing, I get a mechanic yelling at me saying i was at fault. When I asked to speak to the owner, I was told that he lives out of state. After all this mess I spent hours reading past reviews and found that others had similar experiences, but my biggest takeaway was how the owner/s replied to some of the commentators. I found it defensive, rude and never taking accountability, always deflecting the bad service or work they've done. Truth is truth, my review is based on my horrendous experience I had at this place of so called business.

STAY AWAY. DON'T GIVE THEM ANY BUSINESS…read more THEY ARE CREEPS. I was thinking about an old girlfriend, who is having a bad time now with addiction. When she and I lived together, our way around was on my 1970 Triumph Trophy. That bike didn't help anything between us! They nicknamed Lucas Electrics "The Prince of Darkness" for good reasons! We left the Bay Area, and I returned years later alone. I decided to rebuild the top end, and I found a nice cylinder head to replace the one I had. At that time, leaded gas wasn't being sold, and recessed exhaust valve seats were an issue, so I had a nice head to work with. It took them forever to bead blast the head: they didn't get it done when they had said it would be done. I was working more than full time, and using my van to get around, which was in such bad shape that I had to avoid any hills around San Francisco (or get a running start). The shop finally called and said the head was ready- much later than they had promised it. I didn't have any time, within their shop hours, to go pick it up, and I didn't have time for much of anything, unlike when I expected the head to be finished. When I was able to make it over to the shop, they had doubled the cost of the work with "storage fees"! I told them that the job wasn't done when they said it would be done, and that I refuse to pay any extra. Mr. tough guy got all big and puffy and he told me that he wouldn't return my property unless I paid what he wanted, which I refused again, and then he took a swing at me and hit me! They live up to their name: don't give them anything... there are other places to go for what you want, so go to them.
