Second time at this location. Glad the parking lot has finally been fixed last time it was full of craters; my cousin almost broke her ankle in heels. I've ordered the same meal at both the Chicago and Houston locations for dinner . The infamous seafood trio & the spinach & artichoke dip. The pasta is pretty consistent between both locations. In Chicago we had the option to add lamb chops for about $6 a piece. However, the spinach dip in Chicago comes with garlic bread. So i was surprised when the app hit the table in housing. I thought the kitchen made a mistake but it just doesn't come that way. It really takes away from the dish. One thing I'd like to mention is the welcome shot. Not sure what it is but it's tasty. The cocktails are also cute and delicious. This most recent visit I tried put their brunch. I went with one of my favorite foodies so we shared three items . We eased in with the crab cake eggrolls. We came to Provaré for Father's Day at the last minute. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated immediately. Parking is around $16, unless you park on the street. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and the service was great throughout brunch. The music was nice and entertaining. My husband and I had the Seafood Trio and Lamb Chops, which were delicious. They've been opened close to a year now, but I ended up going during the first weekend of March, right when they just launched their brunch menu. The dip was creamy and flavorful but the shrimp lacked flavor. For my entree I had the lamb chops. Although my lamb was cooked to perfection it had no flavor whatsoever so ever. Upon entering they were friendly and welcomed us and asked if we had a reservation, which we did (I'd advise to make one because it's probably going to be busy) we were seated and given shots on the house which was lovely. For my main entree I got the shrimp cognac scampi and as someone who is very picky and rarely orders pasta, i was very pleased with this dish, It was so well seasoned! My friend ordered the lamb chops, and they originally came out without the side of corn so they had to be sent back and brought out once more. I will say the price of the lamb chops are a little iffy considering they aren't thick pieces of meat. For the dessert, we got the butter cake and I personally think Mastros has the best butter cake I've ever tasted but this one is also kind of close so I was really impressed! The hostess was very friendly and even checked to make sure we understood the parking situation so we wouldn't get towed or booted, which was appreciated. Parking behind the restaurant is through a third-party lot with a flat fee of $25.99. There's also metered street parking available through the City of Houston, which may be free depending on the day and time. The ambiance was one of the highlights for me -- warm tones, stylish decor, and a live DJ playing a great mix of R&B throughout the evening. The music created the perfect vibe! We were able to comfortably hold a conversation while enjoying the atmosphere, which made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Our waitress was engaging, upbeat, and added to the overall energy of the night. We were also given a complimentary shot called the "Washington Ave" made with Malibu, Myers Dark, Captain Morgan, pineapple juice, orange juice, and grenadine. It was actually pretty good. We decided to order from the appetizer menu since we couldn't decide on an entrée. We tried the Spinach & Artichoke Dip topped with 2 shrimp, and crawfish, served with house-made garlic bread, along with the Fried Brussel Sprouts. The bread was definitely the standout -- soft, airy, and fresh. Unfortunately, the dip itself lacked flavor and the shrimp were overcooked. The brussel sprouts were overly charred and had a slightly bitter taste. Our total came to $48.60 for food. Grand total was $75.00. Overall, I'd say Provaré is more of a spot I'd return to for the vibe, music, and drinks rather than the food. Provare offers a vibrant dining experience with some standout elements, but unfortunately, our recent visit was marred by a few significant concerns. Upon arrival it was raining HARD the doorman was beyond rude and super inconsiderate to this fact: women do NOT wish to be standing out in rain while dressed up even with umbrellas. I say that to preface the fact that the entry way was big enough to have simply allowed guest inside to check ID and purses instead of having us outside with no awning to shield us from being drenched. While the ambiance and food were delightful, we felt uncomfortably rushed during our meal. Despite having a 90-minute window, we were still actively ordering and spending when we were asked to leave. This was particularly frustrating given that several booths were empty and available, indicating a lack of effective management oversight. It was also disheartening to observe that other patrons, who had dined before us and appeared to have finished their meals, were not being hurried along. This inconsistency in treatment is concerning, as it suggests a disconnect between the staff and the dining room atmosphere. On a positive note, our server, DJ, provided exceptional service throughout our visit. Her attentiveness and friendliness were truly commendable. However, it would greatly benefit the establishment if management could be more aware of the dynamics in the room and adjust their approach accordingly.
