PK Signature Burger

Great restaurant with great food; right on St.George Street. Prohibition Kitchen has cool "prohibition" vibes with newspaper style menus, stamped copper ceiling tiles, vintage tables and booths, and old B & W movies playing at the bar. Our server, Colleen, told us the historic building used to be an opera house. We went for an early dinner on a Friday evening and the restaurant was packed. The menu has a little of everything and there is a huge bar with a long list of beers and a full array of liquor. We ordered drinks and asked for a few beer samples. A few of us chose beers and my husband had the "CYO" create your own old-fashioned with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Demerara and black walnut bitters for $15. He said it was terrific! We also ordered the County Line Boiled Peanuts which were really good, and enough for the 4 of us to share for just $7.00! Everyone enjoyed their main courses as well. I had the Black N' Bleu salad, $25. It was full of perfectly cooked steak and Bleu cheese crumbles, as well as fresh spring mix, multicolored tomatoes, picked onions and peppers. Yummy! My husband had the PK Burger which came with an egg on top. He enjoyed his as well and said that the burger patty itself was delicious. He also had a fresh side salad so it came to $22. Our server, Colleen, was friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Prohibition Kitchen and I will be back the next time I'm in the St. Augustine area.

We stopped in here for lunch on our first day as this is always a must go to when we are in this area. We chose to sit at the bar as there was a line of people waiting for tables. The bar meanwhile was completely open and it is seat yourself. We both ordered chicken wings, extra crunchy with the whiskey rub on them. The rub is a little sweet, but we requested them to hit it lightly so that we didn't have as much sweetness on the wings. We also got an order of the pork rinds which are cooked fresh and you can ask for a dusting of the whiskey rub on those as well. They were very good, but they are a large order so definitely be prepared to share. I also got a cup of their beer cheese soup - I would not order it again. The texture was a little off for me and it felt like it was probably at the bottom of the cooker. The first bartender we had was OK, but felt like he was just going through the motions. The second bartender that took over our service was much friendlier and checked in on us periodically.

This is one of my favorite spots in St Aug to stop by for drinks. It's almost always crowded but worth the wait for a seat at the bar. All the bartenders are so wonderful and fun people. This time we didn't have food. Just drinks. I tried a Goodbye Earl. If earl grey is involved, I'm in! It was quite good. The lemon was the heaviest flavor. I would have liked it even more if the earl grey shined thru a little more. My friend had the Madi Cola which was also good. A little too sweet for my palate but it was good! The vanilla rum was great in there. It was interesting on this trip because it was the middle of a weekday. It wasn't too packed but still bustling. The place does really have a bit of a speakeasy feel and they often have live music if that's your thing.

The atmosphere and layout of the restaurant was a 10/10 and they even have live music occasionally. We got a pretzel as an appetizer, and although I'm not usually a big pretzel kind of girl, the homemade beer cheese sauce was the best I've ever had! I ATE THE ENTIRE CHEESE, it was outstanding and flavorful. The stone ground mustard was also delicious. 10/10 appetizer We also ordered the PK burger and the flank steak sandwich with sweet potato tots. Clearly, you see they have us waffle fries instead of tots so that was disappointing, especially for an extra surcharge...we didn't mention it because we didn't want to make a big deal. The burger meat was VERY juicy and had great flavor. The eggs made it creamy and jam gave it a sweet kick. The only downside was the jam made the bread so soggy it just fell apart on the bottom. Definitely have to use a fork and knife for this! The fries were crispy and delicious, needed a little more salt but that's what the salt at the table was for.

This place has been on our radar for a long time. The problem is it's always packed. When we saw it wasn't crowded we had our chance finally. The menu was filled with a lot of choices. I got their house special the PK Signature Burger. A huge sandwich! The burger was filled with onion jam, fried egg, smoked bacon, and "red dragon cheese". The burger itself is a blend of short rib, brisket, and sirloin. Crazy delicious! The place had an old timey feel. TVs in every angle. Service was quick and friendly. This place is a must eat in St Augustine.

This is a fun place to enjoy dinner and some live music. We enjoyed our drinks, the service, and the atmosphere. The food was really good as well and the portions are HUGE. We ordered the Mac and cheese for a starter and realized that was a meal for both of us in itself. I ordered the short rib grilled cheese and a cup of tomato soup. Really good! We will definitely be back!

We stopped at Prohibition Kitchen in St. Augustine and had a really solid experience overall. The place has a great atmosphere dark, vintage speakeasy vibe with live music, neon accents, and a lively energy that makes it feel more like a night-out destination than just a restaurant. The food was good across the board. The burgers stood out as the highlight juicy, flavorful, and cooked well. The fries and appetizers were also solid, and portions were generous enough to leave satisfied. The drink menu is extensive too, with a strong cocktail selection that fits the whole Prohibition theme. Service was friendly and generally on point, even though it was busy. The staff kept things moving and checked in without being intrusive.

Really enjoyed our stop at Prohibition Kitchen! We unfortunately got there a little too early on Sunday for drinks, but the food definitely made up for it. The deviled eggs, wings, and shrimp cocktail were all great, and we enjoyed every bite. Definitely a spot we'd come back to, just a little later next time so we can try the cocktails too!

SWAMPHEAD IPA

Weekend nights are the busiest here so had to wait thirty minutes but got a great table with a perfect view of the live band "Thelonious Crunk" playing classic cover songs. The male server was attentive and competent but my craft beer was poured as a low abv sour and not my Swamphead IPA hazy request, which was switched out quickly. My Prohibition Burger & Egg was seasoned perfectly and the boiled cajun peanuts had a nice unexpected spicy kick. Aside from the tasty eats, the beautiful 1920's themed bar is notably a mixologists dream. Maybe add a true Speak Easy to the place which would be a cool addition. There was a walk thru to a pricey steakhouse, but not hidden so not really a Speak Easy concept if that was the intent.

First time here with a group of 11. They had live music playing. Server was friendly. We waited a while for our food. Food was good but nothing special. Everyone at the table felt differently about their food. One person felt their food was bland. While another person enjoyed their salad. I enjoyed my hamburger. The fried green tomatoes were a little disappointing as it didn't taste like traditional southern restaurants. The beer cheese soup was nothing to write home about.

Deviled eggs and Mac & cheese

Thus is one of those touristy restaurants that EARNED their right in the lineup! This place is decked out transporting you back in time. They have a beautiful bar and upstairs seating that overlook the restaurant. The menus are themed as if your reading an old news paper! They leave zero details out. The drinks I had from here were the perfect mix of strong but kept to their profile of flavor that you expected in the description on the menu which I absolutely appreciated. I ordered two side dishes to enjoy as I had a bigger breakfast (I regret now because this is one of those places I wish I could've had the whole menu) I ended up with their Mac & cheese and their deviled eggs. Their Mac & cheese was absolutely delicious. The cheeses they used complemented themselves together beautifully. The crispy outside and the cheesy inside. I genuinely loved every moment of every single bite. The deviled eggs are a new experience I have never had before. They really add their own twist to them with blue cheese and I normally don't fancy a blue cheese but they absolutely knew what they were doing because it complemented the yolk so well. It was such a unique flavor I've never gotten to experience with deviled eggs. And I will never forget it! With everything said in done. I will mention or waitress forgot about us and never brought the sauce I asked for or checked in on us. But again this place carried so heavily with the food that they could have thrown the food at me and told me to get lost and I probably would've left with a smile on my face.

Fun atmosphere, good drinks and a delicious burger. All around good time and I'll be back

Our server was amazing, great sense of humor and on top of everything. The food was really good and the milkshakes "bring all the boys to the yard". I had the PK SIGNATURE BURGER .5 lb. house blend of short rib, brisket, sirloin, smoked bacon red onion jam, fried egg & red dragon cheese. The Red Dragon Cheese really sets this burger off. It was so damn good. Add in great live music and I'm hooked.

Parking is nearby in lots/by meter but the restaurant itself is a little walk, in the middle of a long street filled with shops and restaurants.

Do you havea happy hour?

Ah, while the Prohibition Kitchen may occasionally offer delightful libation specials, it lacks a regularly scheduled rendezvous for jubilant hours, if you catch my drift.

For lunch, we split the fried chicken that comes with collard greens and whole cakes. The collard greens are by far one of the best that we have ever had. They use slab bacon and they're absolutely delicious. We've literally talked about them for years and they were just as good as we remembered. Fried chicken was nice and moist and the hocakes cakes were very sweet. For drinks, I tried one of the seasonal ones which was the witches of Eastwick. The gin based drink definitely was sweet, but exactly what I was looking for. My husband got an old-fashioned because they had black walnut bitters when he was really excited about.
