This is primarily a range that allows you to hone your skills. They have steel targets as well as paper. It is located right behind the Quail Creek Shooting Range. The entrance is just to the right of the range. I had a lesson with Brad on drawing from the holster, grip and accuracy ( which was not very good ). Brad was patient and informative and by the end of the lesson my skills were so much better. I was very happy with the 1-1 lesson and I feel more comfortable and accurate. I had a very good experience at Proactive Defense last weekend. I actually attended with my Krav Maga class and had an excellent time. The range we were using was nice (but honestly could have used a few touch up's on the firing line) nothing you can't get over though. (The ground had netting on it which was being blown all over the place due to the high winds that morning). I think almost if not all range / safety officers came over to our session and talked with us. Each one of them were courteous, professional, and offered great advice. Took a CHL course and excepted it to be long and boring. The instructor was very informative and kept the class upbeat and lively. It was actually fun. Range test area was nice and they had several very interesting range areas to progress your firearms skill sets. Would recommend to others for their classes. read more

I've been shooting at this tactical range for some time. I enjoy it because it is not a bunch of meat heads shooting as many rounds as possible without regard for doing it correctly. Gun safety is well explained and paramount. The instructors are well trained and very, very humble and patient! Many gun range owners talk down to everyone and you'll never find that here. You'll see men and women, young and older, expensive weapons and folks shooting entry level weapons, people who are very nice from all walks of life. My gf and I took the LTC class and test here. The instructor, Rob Keller, was great and made the class more entertaining. He gave great examples to tie into real life situations. The shooting part was great as well. I enjoyed that it was outdoors and it was run well, not just thrown together. I feel fortunate to have a place like this close by. They have steel targets, moving targets, allow drawing from a holster (after proper instruction), and will work with you to set up a course of fire for the goal you are trying to accomplish. After coming here, going to another range and standing in a stall seems like a waste of time! :) Chris' #1 priority is safety, and I'm glad there was such a strong emphasis on it when I first started learning. Great people run the range. Very supportive and welcoming to people who are new. I was intimidated being a lady and never having shot before. I took a class here a few days ago and was floored by the professionalism and quality every member of the staff displayed. The class was Foundations Pistol and was very safety oriented. I was able to experience drawing from a holster and firing, which in my several years of pistol shooting I have never done, as most ranges don't allow it. Chris and his staff were friendly, polite, and more than willing to share their knowledge. One participant was brand new to shooting and one of the staff took extra time to spend one on one with this person so they would feel safer and more confident. First and foremost Janas is a Godsend! I moved from the extreme liberal state of California and although I have been to an indoor range I really was not very familiar on the basics, I felt pretty confident shooting but had no clue how to load and the smaller steps like this. I was slightly nervous but only because I almost felt like I was doing something illegal haha, it's just not common where I'm from. Janas promptly sent out and responded to texts quickly. I will be honest, her voice was undeniably sweet over the phone and I worried maybe I would be greeted by an amateur but don't let her voice fool you she is pretty bad a** lol. Sweetest thing I have ever met but when it comes to safety and such she is very confident and sure of herself and that made me feel like I was in good hands. I recently attended the basic handgun course. I've a pistol shot for years but the instructors made everyone start with the basics of drawing from your holster to assessing the threat to shooting at moving targets. Instructors very patient with the novice shooter but kept everyone engaged. I was there for four hours and the time flew by. Instructors very knowledgable and safety first focused. I took the CHL class taught by Jerry but Chris was present for most of it. Both of them are very knowledgeable, they make the subject matter fun, and they genuinely care that the students in their classes are getting the most for their money. Both Jerry and Chris are very patient and answer the question you ask instead of trying to steer you in another direction. Came to Fort Worth for the weekend to compete in a tournament and needed a place to button up some gear the day before the shoot. This place was superb! Gunny (range officer that day) treated me w/respect, was very informative, and reminded me to 'always remember the fundamentals'. Simple statement yet so very effective. Back to the range itself, it's a sport shooter's paradise! They have paper and steel to shoot. You can set the steel up for your el presidente or Mozambique drills. They've got plate racks that actually work! Most importantly, everyone was very polite and helpful (unlike many ranges). I didn't sense any ego there whatsoever! And I have to mention the fact that they provide cold water as well so don't forget to bring your yeti rambler, nalgene, or platypus. Cause this TX summer heat is brutal! I wish they'd open up one of these ranges close to where I live. Next time I'm in Fort Worth, you better believe I'm coming back! read more
