Owner…read morewas dishonorable and lied for a year straight. 1 year ago I bought a brand new CMMG Banshee with Trinity as the FFL. I immediately had Trinity put a new Elftmann trigger in. While waiting for the install, Aaron (one of the employees) put a big scratch in the lower trying to get the trigger pins out. He came out and showed me, apologized, and said they'd make it right. I said no worries, we'll figure it out. Trinity initially wanted to "try for a warranty claim" through CMMG. I felt this was dishonest,but didn't fight it as I just wanted a new Banshee. I didn't fight that. In the August timeframe they told me a replacement was available. I came in and when I arrived it was the wrong gun all together (different color, version with a 3 inch longer barrel, etc.). I re-provided the guns info and was told another was ordered through CMMG and "5-6 of their distributors". Was told I just needed to be patient and wait for the gun to arrive. Since August I have called to try to get status and continued to get the run around from Trinity. I've left countless messages and Richard (the owner) refuses to call back or provide info regarding any of the order numbers. This has been going on since September. It's now March 2021 and I called CMMG to see if I could get status from them. They said there was never an order placed. Again I told Richard and he pretended to be surprised and said he'd dig in and get back to me. I said all I needed was proof that the replacement was ordered through CMMG or ANY of the distributors he said it was. He will not provide that info or return calls. I stopped in again last week and it was the same story and the staff just says they've left him message after message to call me back. At this point it's been a full year since Trinity scratched my brand new extremely expensive Banshee. They refuse to correct the issue and continue to duck calls & emails. I believe they have been 100% dishonest and are engaging in extremely poor business practices. It's one thing when you're just going in to spend money with them, but it's another when they damage your property and are actually on the hook to take responsibility for it. This review is posted so that others don't fall into the same situation. I wish I didn't have to write this about a business in my local 2A community, but unfortunately that's what it has come to after a year of trying for resolution. Trinity - shame on you guys for the way you chose to handle yourselves.

Everyone who works there is professional with safety as the literal top priority. I taught my kids to shoot there. In past ~5 years or so, builders have built homes about a mile away. Northwest ISD has built a school. Country acreage and fields still surround on all sides. Two bullets were found at the new school, and the assumption is that it was bullets from the public range which has tall berms and does not directly have line of aim to the school. This range's presence is not a safety issue. For folks are concerned about this, consider having NISD foot the bill to build bigger berms or indoor shooting range for Quail Creek. Why not? NISD is already spending our tax money like water.

Northwest ISD says it tried to work with the owner on safety improvements and couldn't even get a commitment. The district isn't asking to shut the range down. They're asking for reasonable safety measures to keep bullets from leaving the property. How is that even controversial? Every gun owner knows you are responsible for where your rounds go. If there's a credible possibility rounds from my range could be reaching a middle school, I'm doing everything possible to make sure it can never happen again. I'm not making the school district sue me. I support gun ranges. I want this one to stay open. But responsible gun ownership means taking safety seriously, especially when kids are involved. Fix the damn problem.

Further, NO ONE at the counter mentioned this to either of us when we checked in -- perhaps they thought we might -- somehow‍, not notice, that it was over 100° inside of the private suites/indoors?? When we checked out, I said to my brother "I'm guessing they'll likely 'comp us' for half or maybe all of the range fee (as we bought ammo, targets and supplies too) because of the hours long sweating in the un air-conditioned private suites?" ...But NO, no such accommodation was made. I have to say, THAT was an EXTREMELY POOR CHOICE for Shoot Smart to make. I have been going to that range for many years -- and yes, they knew it at the time. Also with our membership, we get 5% off gun purchases and on my last purchase, I asked them what they could do on a used gun I was looking at just to see if they could come down on price and they gave me a price acting like it was a great deal but shorted me $14 of even the 5% that I'm supposed to get on the gun. These are employee issues and not facility, as far as the facility is concerned I've had no issues.
