More and more ranges are starting to head into this model and it's a sad thing. Remember the days of being able to go to the range and spend $7 for no time limit? Well, those days are over and it's places like this that made it that way. On the good side though, their range was clean and the target systems worked properly and their was ample air conditioning and the air scrubbers were working well, but the air system was loud. One of the ranges I went on was their 65yd rifle range to shoot my bolt action. It's a shame it wasn't 100yrds but it is an indoor range so can't really expect that distance indoors but it would be great if it was. Being disabled, I can't go to an outdoor range because I can't walk 100 yrds each way to hang my target so this was the best I could find with a target system. Mostly I use Defender Outdoors as an FFL transfer when I purchase firearm online. Last I was there I think FFL transfers were $35. They call you when it's ready to be picked up and there usually isn't a wait and if there is, it's not a long one. I usually call a head after I buy the firearm to tell them one is coming for me but I don't think they need that to be done. I just do it out of courtesy. The process is quicker than other places I've been to and they're not 'training' new employees while you're waiting for them to get your paper work done, which I've seen at other gun ranges that do FFL transfers. All the employees are polite and professional so you're paying for that high level of customer service and is one of the reasons they're expensive. My only complaint with this range is how expensive they really are as opposed to other places but you get a lot of bang for your buck, pun intentional.

I'm retired military and have shot in thousands of ranges, and this one still stood out. Well-designed, well-maintained, and clearly run by people who take pride in the space. The range price was great and reasonable. The store side is stocked with every accessory you could want--or didn't know you wanted--for your weapons. Upon entering the store I was greeted by Jose. Jose is such a nice down to earth guy that obviously has a passion for what he does. I wasnt intending to buy a firearm that day but a shiny new Ruger Pistol instantly caught my eye. I justified buying a new gun by convincing myself that I needed something better than my 1911 for concealment. After pulling out a few other pistols I told him I had to think about it. Jose' laid back approach made me feel really comfortable throughout the process. After I left ... I headed to a few other gun stores (which I might ad that they were ALL very helpful! JACKPOT) but The Ruger and its price (they were less expensive then the others) and Jose's customer service brought me back. I walked back in, he worked with me on the price a little more.... we shook hands and striked a deal on the Ruger. About 20 minutes later after clearing my background and a brief conversation I was the proud owner of a LC9s. Everyone who works there is professional with safety as the literal top priority. I taught my kids to shoot there. In past ~5 years or so, builders have built homes about a mile away. Northwest ISD has built a school. Country acreage and fields still surround on all sides. Two bullets were found at the new school, and the assumption is that it was bullets from the public range which has tall berms and does not directly have line of aim to the school. This range's presence is not a safety issue. For folks are concerned about this, consider having NISD foot the bill to build bigger berms or indoor shooting range for Quail Creek. Why not? NISD is already spending our tax money like water.

It was a gun I had been wanting for a while with a red dot sight factory installed. Their price was reasonable; there are not a lot of great deals out there given the current climate and demand in Aug 2020. The purchase was smooth, quick, and the employee who helped me (Jordan, I think) was friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions, as I had never used a red dot sight before. The store was clean, well stocked, and had plenty of things to interest most "gun people." Nothing extraordinary happened, just a nice, positive day at the gun store. A couple of days later when I took out the gun to get familiar with the red dot sight, I found that while the sight lights up and is bright, the button that dims the sight has no effect. So today, Saturday, I went back by the store to see if they could give me any insight on what I might be doing wrong. This is where the five star rating comes in. The same employee who sold me the gun on Wednesday was there, and asked how he could help. I explained the situation, and he quickly took out the handgun, and attempted to duplicate the problem. Sure enough, he also could not get the dot to dim. He got a second employee to look at it, and meanwhile, he went online to research the problem. He found that a possible issue could be the battery. The two guys then literally went all over the store trying to find the right battery size (it was not a typically size), and would not stop until they had found one in another product. Meanwhile, they were making arrangements for me to see the gunsmith at the sister-store ten minutes away in Grapevine to see if he could resolve the issue. But, once the battery was replaced, it worked as it was supposed to work. I would not have thought the battery was the issue because it would light up so brightly, but that is exactly what it needed. They could have easily told me they didn't know what was wrong, and I would have been left with shipping it to the manufacturer and waiting weeks to use the gun I just purchased. Instead, they did research, tried several potential ways to resolve the issue, and found a solution. All the while they were friendly, engaging, and professional. I was not familiar with this store before this experience. It's a little bit of a drive from my house, but they have earned a repeat customer in me. Thanks so much for the great customer service. That surface gave you a safe, convenient place to lay your firearm between loads while keeping it pointed downrange. The only surface available to us was a small Rubbermaid-style cart about three and a half feet tall. This made working with and sighting in long guns extremely awkward and nearly impossible. The range was also uncomfortably hot. An employee explained that the air conditioning was running on high, but the exhaust system that removes gun smoke and fumes also pulls the cooled air out almost as quickly as it enters. I understand the importance of proper ventilation, but the temperature made shooting very uncomfortable. The retail inventory was also ridiculously understocked. I was looking for tinted shooting glasses, magazines for several firearms, speed loaders, and a barrel-cooling fan so I could safely cool my rifle before returning it to its case. They had none of these items. When I asked about the lack of merchandise, an employee told me their inventory manager was not doing a very good job. On the positive side, all the employees were friendly and courteous. The gunsmith was especially helpful and was able to sight in the rifle I had been struggling with very quickly. Unfortunately, friendly employees and a capable gunsmith were not enough to overcome the poor range setup, excessive heat, and severely limited inventory. I will be trying a different shooting range the next time I go shooting.
