This is one of the best ranges I've been to. They usually have plenty of lanes available, and they have lanes for both pistol and rifle. If you need to rent a weapon, they have several there to choose from. They also have all kinds of ammo in case you left yours at home. Just in case you have to wait for a lane, there's plenty to do in the store. They've got a wide selection of sportsman's equipment available throughout the store. Both the service and the value are excellent. This is definitely my favorite place to go in Fort Worth! read more

Beautiful range and store. Friendly staff and helpful. This was our first time to this range and they helped us with their rules and safety requirements. The RSO was kind to let us reload our mags on a vacant lane next to us, but it would be nice if they had shelves along the back to reload mags and store bags. I've been to other high-end ranges like this one and that was a nice setup to have, because sharing a lane could get crowded. Next time I'm in town, I will definitely come back and would highly recommend this range. 2 Years ago I joined Defenders because I loved the people that worked there and would shoot often. I will still say that the people working the range desk are just an AWESOME group of guys and I will always think of them as my friends, and of course Doc is amazing But.... The instructors are past rude. If you aren't currently giving them money they don't even say hello in the hallways and look the other way or down at their phones. And pretending not to even know who I am?? only seen me for over 2 years and you have no clue??? Super pissed me off a few months ago. The monthly membership went up to $60 a month and sometimes I only shot once a month. I wanted to talk to someone about it, no one in the office would even email me back, I would only get a sporadic text that if I texted back no one responded to because 'everyone is on vacation' YOUR ENTIRE OFFICE STAFF IS OUT FOR A MONTH?? I have the emails and text messages that I wanted to show the owners but of course no one would give me their contact information, trying to protect their jobs I guess. I asked to speak to a manager when I went in last week, and he wasn't available, no problem I will go shoot, and we can talk afterwards. He still wasn't available. Fine I will find a business that respects me and my $$$$ I have spent $1000s here and will find another shooting range that understands how to treat people. Why you would allow good paying customers to leave without even talking to them is very bad business. read more

I almost don't even know where to begin with this one. Visited a friend in Ft. Worth. On our way back to my hotel, she randomly pulled into the gun range. Walked in and I IMMEDIATELY became nervous - almost took a Xanax to calm down but my friend encouraged me not to. I'm from NY. Never shot a gun before but I've been around plenty of guns and have seen my share of gunshot victims. It was so bizarre for me to be in this one stop gun shop with all things legal - very hard for me to wrap my head around it at the time. In walks Anthony. Same name as my dad, brother, and uncle. Sounds silly but this simple fact is what actually gave me the courage to walk into the shooting range. This instructor Anthony....I couldn't have done sh*t without this guy. He basically held my hand the entire time. I heard the first gunshot and nearly jumped out of my skin. I didn't tell him about my PTSD - but he saw my fear. I'm not sure of how much I can say in terms of the lengths he went to to make me feel comfortable, but if he gives this type of kind, patient and reassuring attention to everyone, then this place is more than lucky to have him. I walked out of there smiling because I was proud of myself....and then I went to the bar and took shots to calm my nerves, lol. read more

Nice equipment and a nice selection of merchandise, but the staff is sporadic. There used to be so many really nice people there, and there are still some nice folks, but most are bully types who are always talking to certain people like they're shit. For instance, I remember once I was about to throw a used target into a trash can when the range warden whistled at me and screamed at me, pointing at a different trash can only feet away. He acted just like a jar-head gunnery sergeant which is typical of the general attitude. I remember having a really hard time until I came in with a mask that said "Come and Take It" on it and all of a sudden everyone was all smiles.... till the next time. Maybe they think that my long hair somehow disqualifies me from believing in the constitution. I have spent thousands of dollars there, though. Their selection is great on optics and all types of firearms, and I'm gonna still go there because I really like the facilities, and I don't really think that it would be any different anywhere else. Anyway, if you're a snuff-dipper type you'll probably do just fine, but if you're not, you probably won't feel welcome. read more

Great selection of guns and handguns with limited ammunition in stock, like most places these days. The handgun range is the main draw. It is well lit, with safety officers on duty making sure everything is safe. It is fun way to spend an hour or so. I understand there is a rifle range that runs the back of the facility. The staff is knowledgeable on all things related to guns, from thermal sights, to rifle scopes, to which particular handgun will meet your requirements. They even rent handguns for the range so you can get the look and feel of the actual weapon you want to try. Good selection of hunting apparel and accessories available in the store. They even had things I did not know I wanted. Impressive store. read more

EDIT: Since I left this review, a woman named Holly from Defender Outdoors has reached out to me via email to assist in procurement of a new case, as well as a free range pass. Not only did she reach out to me to rectify the issues, but continued to follow up with me consistently over the course of two weeks while a new case came in the mail from the manufacturer. I am impressed with the level of detail Defender Outdoors puts into ensuring customer satisfaction. I truly believe that the experience I had was not consistent with their values, and they have more than made up for it in my eyes. ------------------------------------------ Will I be back to go shooting? Yes. Will I purchase another firearm from them? No. Ive been contemplating purchasing a firearm for a while now, and decided upon going to Defender Outdoors at the recommendation of several friends. The facilities were very nice, and there was ample range space. Despite walking in on a weekend, I only waited around 10 minutes to get a lane. I informed the staff I was interested in a try-and-buy situation between two handguns, and they got me squared away. It was full price despite my intention to purchase the model I liked better, however it was more of a hope for a discount than an expectation. Two gun rentals with 100 rounds of ammunition ran me in the ballpark of $80, at non-member rates. The staff were great in helping me make my selection and processing both my payment and background check. The process was simple, and they answered all of my questions and concerns. My rating would be exceptional, other than what happened after my purchase. Once I got to my car I noticed one of the two plastic clasps securing the gun case was missing. When I went back inside, the staff helped me look to see if it had fallen off, before calling the manager over. He informed me that this is common with Sig Sauer cases. I asked if they could pull one off of another case, to which he responded no, because someone else would be missing a clasp. When asked why I had to be the one with a defective case, he responded that was just the way it was. It was upsetting that after spending $1,000 between the range and firearm, that a two cent piece of plastic soured my overall experience. The customer service was fantastic up until the point that the sale was made, at which point it ceased. read more

Great place to ensure gun owners are in compliance and have a understanding on the product that are bought. Shane have a wealth of knowledge and experience and take his time in educating me on every question I have. The customer service is top of the line and I been going to Defender for 7 years. Even if you are going to look at the firearms (ammosexual) they still treat everyone like a paying customer. One thing that I would butt heads on is the gunsmith. They will charge a arm and a leg however i would love to attend a gunsmith class 101 if they offer it. read more

First visit here to attend a training class only. Nice classroom location just off the show room floor. Plenty of room for large group. Also located next to the lounge. Showroom area has pretty much everything the firearms enthusiast would need. Lots of help for new gun owner to make a purchase and/or attend a training class. I was there during the weekday and impressed with how many customers came to shoot (enjoy the discount during certain hours/days). This review is only about the parking and the finger printing service. The parking situation is horrible. There are almost no private parking spots and all the street parking has do not park here signs. People readily ignore these signs. The finger printing service is in the rear right corner of the store. Took less than 10 minutes to get my finger prints done. The person doing it was awesome. read more

Came here with my company...I thought we were going to dinner...imagine my surprise lol. I had never even been close to a gun, much less shot one, so this was all in! It was much fun!!! They were very well organized for our big group of 25 and the instructors were very knowledgeable and thorough. They didn't make me feel dumb for knowing absolutely nothing about shooting or guns and made me feel really comfortable the entire time. I really enjoyed the simulation room, too. You're put in a room with about 10 targets to hit, they turn the lights down, play some rock music and you run through the set to try your best at aiming and not hitting "innocent" bystanders. I felt like I was on the SWAT team!! :) I also liked going into the range and trying out the different types of guns to shoot. My favorite was the fully automatic...man, that's powerful!! I highly recommend coming here, especially if it's your first time. It's very relaxed, open, and the team is helpful and fun. read more

Terrible customer service. I took an older shotgun in for a new recoil pad and a quote on cerakoting. 3 months later and not a peep. I've called 3 times and have been promised a return call each time and never get one. I'm not even worried about the cerakoting at this point. 3 months for a Remington 1100 shotgun recoil pad is pathetic. At this point I wonder if they even know they have my gun. Probably go pick it up soon and take it elsewhere. read more

The only 'bad' thing about this place is the parking - there aren't a ton of spots in front of the building it's not the most ideal place I'd want to leave my car. With that said, I went at night and didn't see other available parking). On to the facility! AMAZING! Super clean, massive show floor with a super friendly staff. This place is a hidden Fort Worth gem! Walking in my husband and I were like kids in a candy shop as we are Californians and our gun laws are a lot more strict than Texans. There were rows of handguns, rifles, scopes, and silencers displayed throughout the store. Throughout the entire time I knew I could only look and touch, but never buy. The workers here are incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what they do. They brought our experience to another level. The manager Dax was incredibly generous with us and gave us a free range pass when we told him we were visiting from California and we're really excited to find them. Dax you are the best and you totally made mg husband's day!!! Though the wait-time for shooting was about an hour, that time passed really fast as we explored their other amenities. What is really neat is they have both an indoor 25 yard pistol range and an indoor 80 yard rifle range. They offered a number of classes, a laser room for kids to play in using pretend handguns and rifles, a neat simunition room, along with more marksmanship classes for both handguns and long range rifles! During the wait, I got to cozy up in a nice lounge where I got to watch the local sports/tv. They have a number handguns and rifles, 3 of which we choose to shoot. First time here and most definitely won't be my last! Everyone I mean everyone was so helpful and made us feel important! We went there to take our daughter and grandson shooting for the first time. It was definitely the best range I've been to and there's been many I've tried both in California and Texas. By far the best place to go! Clinton was great and very helpful. Prices are good but customer service is trash there's not much more to it. As far as ammo prices this is the best and most consistent. But the people that work there are rude af. Especially the girl with the colored hair. I've been there a few times and I thought, hey she might just be having a bad day. But I walked in there with a friend today to buy ammo told me it was 2 boxes per person on the phone. I get there and she tells me I can only buy one. I came here to get fingerprints done. So, I decided to check the store and range out. Let me start by saying the store itself, is very presentable. However, as someone who is in the market for a firearm. I would like to know the price and model of what I'm looking at. No. They have two tables, Almost in the middle of the store with pistols that are accessible but have no information regarding the pistol itself. Also, when I tried to rent a lane at the range. I had to wait 5 minutes, while the lady that works there and the front desk guy play grab a** at work. In the middle of them flirting, I had to rudely interrupt their moment. When I did, the lady did not like that and had nothing to say to me besides what I needed for the lane. So, the ladies that work here need major improvement in their customer service. Specifically, the ones that work in the range area. The ladies who do the fingerprints are amazing. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. Sad too, because it is right downtown. read more

Read the fine print of your membership contract (what is this, a cell phone service?). You are on auto renewal from the minute you sign up. Good facilities, but when it comes to getting something accomplished it takes forever and you can expect to get passed around with the 'that's not my job' attitude. I had a purchase sent there for pickup, but the individual who was walking me through couldn't get me signed up and checked with three other people and they still phoned me in so I could get my purchase. The app is a joke - it either doesn't track what you are reserving or continually emails you reminders. the only real reason they get a second star is the guys on the range who are friendly, professional, and very helpful. But this alone doesn't justify the treatment across the board. This is particularly true when you try to cancel your membership - from the first day you owe them 30 days notice.... Find another range and FFL. read more
