I'm not sure why I have never wrote a review for this place in the past. I like the fact that it's just a 15 minute drive from my house, secondly the staff are pretty knowledgeable. This is where I took my License To Carry class and the instructors were great. I highly recommend taking their gun safety course first if you are unfamiliar with gun handling. The only gripe I have is that I wish this place was actually bigger with more shooting lanes. I personally don't like waiting long to get my shooting on, LOL!! There are some places politics do not belong, and if you want to have a decent customer base, your business should not be in the habit of alienating those customers. This Shoot-smart location has been a go to for years whenever I need to get some trigger time in, staff are straight to the point. You go in, sign in, get your lane and get in on some shooting. Price can shoot up buying ammo but you get unlimited time in your lane. read more

I purchased a Groupon for my birthday and called ahead of time to see if I could redeem it. I was given the approval to redeem it and then went in the next day. When I approached the counter, the "manager" said I could not redeem it because their Groupon draws in large crowds. Mind you, the Groupon was still on the website for sale and there was not a written disclaimer on the website stating that they were not honoring redemptions. The Maher was not willing to make an exception despite, being told, multiple times, that we could use it. They added us to the waitlist and told me that it would be a 2 hour wait time. I ended up going to another location. They added me on the wait list. By this time, I was told it would be an hour wait. We decided to take a trip down to Petco to grab some snake food. Not even 10 minutes later, I received a text message stating that my lane was ready. Oh goodie! Not even ten minutes into the wait time that I received a text message. I quickly rushed back to the gun range and gave them the lane number that was assigned. They told me, "ma'am, your lane is not ready and you still have one hour wait time". That made no sense to me. How could I get a mistaken message? What they do not inform you is that due to COVID-19, you have to purchase your on own goggles. Even with the Groupon, had the honored it, we would have come out of pocket more. Until they become more organized, I will not return to their location. read more

I was thinking it's time to upgrade. I am always amazed at how friendly and knowledgeable the folks at this location are. I want a new Shield Plus or Shield M2. I shot both and think I like the Plus better. And BONUS, this pistol i've never shot before produced a smaller group for me than either the Shield or the M2. Now I'm wondering. Why it pay the extra when I go to the range and shoot a VARIETY of weapons instead of buying a new weapon. That $20 per trip goes into $600 a bunch of times. I go during the week so it's never crowded. It's easier to pick out the newbies. I loved that there was a young man actually in the range helping them and keeping the rest of us sage. I came here with a Ladies License to Carry class to get some range time after the hours-long class. For some reason my GPS took me and half of my class to a location behind the building a block over, so you've been warned. Shoot smart is a shooting range with different types of pistols, all the ammo a person could need, as well as (sanitized) eye and ear protection for public use. The cost for my visit was $28 including a box of a bullets for the Gloc I was shooting. They have multiple stations for shooting, along with glass for others outside the booths to watch the action. The shooting area is partitioned, not private booths, so it got a bit loud but overall a good time. It was a Saturday and pretty busy, so my wait time was over an hour, but my guess is other times should be less congested. Overall, not bad, and I would come back here for range time. read more

I have been to the Fort Worth and Grand Prairie locations. I love these guys. I was reading some of the one star reviews. I've never read so much petty crap in my life. If you go to a restaurant during the weekend or a holiday during peak hours, you expect to WAIT. Why would you expect anything different at an outstanding gun range. And the numbnutz that claimed Grand Prairie was dangerous or whatever he said about stray rounds...do you want to pay extra for them to hold your hand every time you shoot? A public range is going to have a small percentage of morons who are ignorant of proper weapon handling. Get over it. My wife and I go on Monday afternoons. We often have the range to ourselves. We've never had to wait by going during the day. Maybe some of you kids who are too childish to wait should go during the day. My only complaint is the lack of .22 ammo but how could I possibly blame that on Shoot Smart? It is what it is. Like a responsible adult, I got odd my lazy butt and ordered ammo on line instead of expecting Shoot Smart to supply me with ammo for our M-9 .22 and our M-9 9mm. Now I can shoot cheaper. read more

So it's hard to justly rate anything because if all the "pandemic" restrictions but they're trying the best they can to adhere to the guidelines to remain open. The front door stays locked to ensure they only allow 6 people on the main floor. There's canopies and picnic tables set up outside so you can sit in the shade while you wait so that's good I suppose. Kinda nit picky and I wish it gave me the opportunity to dock half a star instead of a full one but the bathroom was a little neglected. From whatever's growing on the wall to the disgusting door that I'm pretty sure has never been cleaned. Other than that, this place is alright. Came across this place when my usual range was closed! Had a great time here shooting a variety of weapons. The only reason it's 4 and not 5 stars is that the front desk reps were trying to make each other check us in, check out the weapons, etc. or just overall trying to make each other do the work which was weird considering there were 3 people working and only us 2 as customers... it just rubbed me the wrong way & made me initially uncomfortable. I purchased a Groupon for this place for four people with one gun to share. We came on a Sunday around 10:00 am. There was already 6 people in front of us. The gentleman that was working seemed very nice and helpful, I didn't get his name. They have many guns and rifles to choose from. We can pick one gun and shoot for a little bit and then switch it out for another. For the rifles it's in a different section and you have to sign up to get in that section. For each person you have the lane for as long as you want, it can be 30 mins to 6 hours. I would highly recommend you come as soon as possible, when they first open is best. When it became 3 hrs for the riffle section we decided to leave. It seems like they need more lanes with amount of people walking in and spending all day here. By 11:30 the whole front of the gun range was full and there were no seats left to wait in!! This was a safe and fun place to go to and shoot at. read more

I am afraid of firearms. I don't like them because I cannot understand them. Being a Canadian I feel like my gun access is limited. We do have gun ranges and people own them. I am not stating that in a negative way. I prefer it this way. This is just a gauge of the type of person I am. My visit was the first time I ever fired a gun. I figured Texas would be fitting for this event. I shot a Beretta M9 22LR. So not a big gun, but definitely the right way to get a feel for loading and firing. Before we got our firearm the did a quick tutorial of how to load the bullets into the magazine and how to use the gun. Safety, loading, proper holding etc. Then we were set on our way to a lane. We were given the option to start out with the gun we had and the change it if we found we wanted to try something different. I chose to not. We had a good time shooting. The staff was very helpful and understanding. It was approximately $50 for the lane and such. read more

Good sized range in Grand Prairie. It's very clean, and the staff is super helpful, and friendly! They are willing to help you out and answer any questions you have. There's private suites and regular suites. Private suites is intended for people who are shooting rifles, and the regular suites are for only hand guns. I actually prefer the private suite more because you get your own "room" basically. So you and your partner have not more space, but more privacy because there is a huge cement wall separating the rooms. Today we got the regular suites because we didn't bring our AR. You don't get your own room, and you're shooting beside like 5 other lanes which can get loud (obviously) and it felt very small & HOT in there. It's worth while to get a membership because you pay less each time going to the range. That's if you are looking to go shoot a lot, then you'll save money. If not, get a groupon! read more
