I just had the most scrumptious meal at Prime Seven Nine in Collingwood! The ambiance is consistently top-shelf -- warm, inviting, and perfectly balanced. So many restaurants can feel either too loud or too cramped, but Prime Seven Nine creates a comfortable atmosphere that makes dining genuinely enjoyable. Our seating was perfect, and the music level was just right for conversation over dinner. The service was wonderful -- attentive without being intrusive, with just the right amount of contact throughout the evening. And the food... I can't say enough about it. Everything from the wine and appetizers to dessert was exceptional. The Caesar salad was fresh, crisp, and perfectly dressed, and the truffle fries are an absolute must-try. I was genuinely surprised by how rich and flavourful the butter chicken was, and the steaks were cooked beautifully -- every bite seemed better than the last. To finish, we had the turtle cheesecake, and it was worth every calorie. This is the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion, but honestly, it's also ideal anytime you're looking for an outstanding meal in an inviting and comfortable atmosphere. Wish we'd believed all the bad reviews I will start by saying our servers were excellent and the food was good. Unfortunately, the professionalism stopped there. The food and service could not possibly make up for the rude, arrogant, disrespectful and hostile attitude of the manager/owner. We were a large group hoping to find a regular restaurant for a monthly supper club. This restaurant is off the list for the supper club AND each person in the group. The website claims to support the local community--guess that only applies if there's a virtue signalling photo op. What a shame such a lovely venue is spoiled by the person running it. The food (3/5) was okay. We came because we use to vacation in the area. I would not order what I had. The Italian night special seafood linguine. The noodles seemed fresh, but they also seemed to be cut into smaller pieces. My partner had the burger and he said it was good. The service was 2/5. As we ate we saw a couple come sit down and got ignored, and left. Our server seemed fake, unhappy and felt like she didn't like me. The food was excellent as usual! I started with a Caesar salad which had crisp romaine lettuce, perfect croutons and the right amount of delicious house made dressing. The main course was the blackened Salmon with fingerling potatoes and sautéed vegetables on top. The blackened seasoning was just the right amount so it did not overwhelm the taste of the perfectly cooked, generous portion of salmon. For desert I had Cappuccino coffee and the Turtles cheese cake - served with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. The portion was big enough for two and did not fail to deliver. It was a perfect taste, not too heavy or overdone with the toppings. The last thing I want to mention was the excellent hosting by our server, Len. He was just there when you needed him. Not too much and not too little. He has excellent suggestions if you asked about the wine or an entry on the menu. He made the event a successful occasion and was happy to look after us. The only thing was was not perfect was the background music. I found that it had too much of a club vibe and was too loud for dinner. It has never been that way before and perhaps the selection was in the hands of someone who wasn't paying attention the demographics of the patrons that were present. So, my partner and I went for dinner here last Saturday night. We had reservations which was good because it was very busy. The host seated us right away, however we had no service (or acknowledgment) at over 15 minutes. Not even a glass of water. We had to ask the host to bring. And took the opportunity to ask for beers too. It just seemed like we were invisible, although staff was chatting with other customers for long periods of time. Perhaps regulars. The truffle fries were great. Period. Highly recommend. The signature burger and fries, just ok. The Burrata salad nothing to speak of, was very cold. And so small. To be honest, not worth the money for what we were served. It's a lovely place in terms of ambiance to be sure. Of course we know it's been a tough few years in the restaurant business, but it was disappointing and too expensive. I'm sorry to say. Staff were very pleasant and as always we tip generously. First visit to Prime Seven Nine. Well pleased with the experience. The service was excellent. We were carefully walked through the menu when they found out I had allergies and needed to eat gluten free. The menu came with multiple choices. The food was fast, and the food was cooked perfectly and even the vegetables left me wanting more. I ordered the steak and seasonal vegetables. The steak was cooked to a perfect rare, and veggies were perforce and seasoned with a little parmesan and garlic. I wanted more. Delicious. I'm not a dessert person but tried a bite of the gluten free turtle cheesecake. Also known as a cheesecake. One of the better ones I have had. Well presented, not overly sweet, and delicious. The cheesecake was served with pecans, caramel, chocolate sauce, as well as fresh fruit. The plate was well decorated with drizzle and fresh fruit. It was soft and luscious. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys good article and excellent food. They went the extra mile and delivered a top notch meal. Four stars. read more

Prime Seven Nine is an excellent choice for upscale, casual dining when you are in the Collingwoord/Blue Mountain area. Located in a sleekly-remodeled, vintage bank building, it has a spacious and contemporary, yet majestic vibe. We were there for dinner (family vacation), and we were pleased with the variety and selections that the menu offered. My daughter and I split the seafood Fritto Misto, lightly battered shrimp and calamari. The seafood was cooked perfectly, and the breading was so subtle that even my keto-diet husband had a few bites. He enjoyed his Ceasar salad, pronouncing it flavourful and zesty, which is saying something, because that is his go-to appetizer whenever he can get it. For dinner, I had the Tuscan Chicken Pasta. It was a very well prepared Tuscan preparation, with a creamy sauce, sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, chicken, all topping a nicely al-dente bowl of penne. The portion was huge. I enjoyed it that evening, and then reheated the next day. I was satisfied, but next time I would probably choose a "Main", rather than a pasta dish. My husband and daughter were delighted with their steaks (they both ordered the Striploin). The steaks arrived perfectly cooked to rare, and sizzling hot. I was offered a bite, and this was very delicious steak, with a nicely seared, caramelized, buttery crust and the rosy red interior. I was impressed that Prime Seven Nine doesn't fool around with Top Sirloin, and rather goes straight for the high end steaks like tenderloin and striploin. Our waitstaff was pleasant, helpful, and courteous, and, when asked for recommendations, showed their understanding of the menu by drawing our attention to certain popular or preferred items. I highly recommend Prime Seven Nine if you are in the area. It is slightly on the pricey side (that seems par for the course in the Collingwood area), but for a special occasion, it is worth the splurge. read more

I've only been here once before several years ago. Was not a fan then but decided to try it out again. Good price... I guess... for basic food. The lychee cocktail was pretty good but why was it $14 + tax + tip again? I was not a fan of how long we waited for appetizers and less of a fan to have our entree slipped under our noses shortly after we got our appetizers without warning... I hate when servers do that. So our main food gets cold while we're rushing through appetizers? The entree was mondane at best. Fingerling potatoes (boiled) with blackened salmon overtop, drenched in... what was that, stewed tomatoes?...salsa? And buried in wilted (likely unintentionally) arugula leaves! We have been dining at Prime for 4 years and always had a great time. However, the last time we went was quite disappointing. Waited 1 hour for appetizers and when they came they were cold. The bruschetta trio was made with a sandwich bun (not what the other tables next to us had) and had very little to no toppings. It looked like they had run out of the bruschettas and made up something in the moment. Not acceptable for a restaurant of this ranking. The pasta alla vodka was over cooked and the sauce tasted nothing like vodka sauce. The atmosphere and the service were good as always. Came here for a Saturday night dinner out. The venue is lovely. Feels very much like an evening out. Started with drinks, martinis, and wine, of course. Great menu, not a huge selection but enough choices. I'm not sure if our waiter was new or he was just messing with us. I asked if they had smaller salads since the ones on the menu all looked to be dinner salads. He said no, and they were too busy for him to ask the kitchen to make one. No problem. So I ordered the veggie burger and told him I wanted the toppings of a regular burger, not the stuff on the veggie burger. (I got everything from both burgers...it was spectacular) Then he asked if I wanted to upgrade from fries to sweet potato fries or CAESAR SALAD. Im like "say what now?" It took everything I had not to say, didn't you just say I can't get a small salad?! Then later while refilling our drinks order we were chatting and he said he was celiac, with a bunch of other issues. Later, when we asked him to recommend a dessert we could split, he said his 2 favourites are the molten chocolate cake and the white vanilla crunch cake. I'm pretty sure they're not gluten free. Regardless, got the vanilla caramel crunch. It was small but tasty. And not crazy sweet. A very dense cake. This is now my new favourite restaurant in Collingwood. Will definitely be back if only for the entertainment factor. read more

3.5 Star experience on the first visit, 4.5 star on the next My wife and I were up for a retreat in the area recently and were looking for a special place for a date night and this came up on my search. The space itself is fantastic and in an old bank building that is likely up to 100 years old. Nicely and classically decorated with a massive ceiling. Service was great at both visits. On our first visit, I opted for a steak with a deluxe potato. The potato wasn't twice backed in the way I would expect (such as from the Keg - though to be fair, they didn't advertise it that way), but cheese, chives and real bacon was added on it. Though some other reviewers had issues with an overcooked steak, I didn't run into that problem. My steak was perfectly enjoyable, but not necessarily memorable and could've used a bit more flavour. My wife ordered ribs and those were fantastic. We also shared a salad which was a section of iceberg lettuce with a nice sharp and real blue cheese dressing. The following day when we were returning home, my wife wanted to go back as she saw the lobster mac and cheese from another table and really wanted to try it. Though it was lunch time and it was a dinner menu item, the said they could do it. It was truly one of the best lobster mac and cheeses I've ever had as there was a lot of flavour put into the sauce outside of the cream. But what made it stand out most was that it was served in a lobster tail rather than smaller pieces of less-desirable lobster (such as claw). Perhaps it didn't have the convenience of small lobster pieces already mixed in, but the higher quality lobster more than made up for that. I went for the beef deep which was also one of the best I've had for an item. Though beef deep is normally made with left over prime rib - even if this one as well, the quality and freshness of the meat was far better than any other I've had previously. We had two orders: The prime chicken salad, and a filet mignon (medium rare) The steak (at $51) was overdone (medium-well) and when asked what I'd like to do about it, just decided to go with it as that would delayed my partner from eating. The salad, as well as my sides (potatoes and vegetables) were really good! Two glasses of Prosecco arrived complimentary at the end of the meal, but I passed as I had the car. I left feeling a little off about it. I just think at the price point a make-it-right option that isn't alcohol goes far for those driving to the restaurant. What a disappointment. I had really been looking forward to eating here. Nice old bank building converted to a restaurant. Decor and atmosphere nicely done. Good friendly server. However the food.......$40 for a steak which doesn't include a single side with it. Then when the steak comes it's wayyyy overcooked from the med rare I asked for. I send it back. They get it closer the second time. Finally I bite into it and the actual meat quality is no better than what I could buy at Loblaws. Truly appalling. Tough and flavourless. The side dishes were all local-diner quality at best. Caesar dressing tastes like it comes from a bottle. My wife and I wanted to try this resturaunt. We went for dinner at around 5 pm on Sunday 02/19. The Decor was great. The surprise come with our meal. I ordered the RESERVE STEAK which in any high end resturaunt is great, but this was anything but. They cooked it on a grill with weights, it would have made a great steak sandwich. Very disappointing. Service was over done the waitress was at out table every 5 minutes. My wife had roast beef and her opinion it was reheated. The price of the meal was priced high which is okay if your meal was what I ordered, a RESERVE STEAK not a ordinary steak and if cooked the way a steak should be. The salad had no dressIng except for water at the bottom of the plate The music was great but way too loud, preventing simple conversation across the table. If you are going to act and charge like a high end restaurant, then treat your clients as if you are high end restaurant, not like a fast food joint. Train your staff on how to treat customers. First of all, how can you call yourself a steakhouse when you only serve two cuts of beef.....filet and strip? No Rib Eye? No T-bone? Second of all, if you're in a small town and you're charging $45 for a steak without including a single side......then you'd better be starting with an amazing piece of meat and then cooking it to perfection. Unfortunately it's the exact opposite. The steak is no better than a No Frills $12 Grade AA steak, and instead of the med rare I ordered, it was a pretty solid piece of medium well cardboard. Terribly overpriced for the quality of food. Steak was not served as ordered and sides were not fresh. Salad seemed to be made with week old produce. The female owner was very rude when we complained about how long the service was taking ( over 3 hours for a dinner for 2). This restaurant charges high end prices and treats customers like they are eating at Taco Bell ( no offence Taco Bell). There are many places in town where you can anticipate much higher quality of food and service for a fraction of the cost. The service staff are lovely and trying very hard but they aren't given much to work with. I will never return unless under new management. Shame. read more

First time visiting Prime 79 and wow! We were big fans of Tholos in BlueMountain and found out that same people have now running Prime in downtown Collingwood. Tony from Tholos was our absolute favourite server and so happy now that he's running things in Prime and its awesome - phenomenal steak, fun atmosphere, and great service, kids menu also available. We had med rare Ribeye cooked perfectly with forest mushroom and sweet potato fries and with chocolate cake and perfect cappuccino to end the meal! Overpriced steakhouse that doesn't know well done from rare. Great old bank building converted to a restaurant. Lots of signs from the very beginning that it is run by rookies. The waitress didn't know the specials so no pre job briefings by the chef or owner. Steak was first overcooked and sent back returned raw. Other entrees were decent and the appetizers okay. Salads were good. My advice is try another place if you want a decent steak at NYC prices. read more

This is supposed to be a steakhouse. They messed up the cook on a medium rare steak... 3 times! Recooked a steak we had cut into and reserved it! One of our group was sick that night and next morning after eating seafood linguine. The male owner was rude and unprofessional. Didn't even comp the meal (2 steaks, charcuterie board seafood linguine, 4 drinks)-- took off the steaks and only took off the drinks after we suggested that might be nice given the situation (there for 2hours at this point!). Went to Prime for dinner with my Husband and friends. Wow what a change. Prime is located in the old BMO on the main street. Dinner was wonderful and the staff were great. Not pushy in the least. We spent about 4 hours at our table. This is a nice romantic place to have a date or an night evening dinner with that special someone. The meat was ok, the seasonal vegetables tasted like they were made 4 seasons ago and then re heated in a vat of oil. The Caeser Salad I do have to say was pretty good right down to the store bought croutons......I wouldn't go back if I was paying, if someone else is buying dinner next time I may give them a second chance. read more
