So after I posted this review I got an email from the owner of Prime Pool. He sent an email I was supposed to have received explaining why the pool service was going up. The explanation made sense, the hurricanes in Lake Charles last fall damaged the chlorine plant and created a shortage driving the price up. Nice to have an explanation. I can not prove that I did not receive this email but I do not believe we received it. He said she said? Maybe we did maybe we didn't. At least I know why prices went up. I was really wanting to love Prime Pools as much as most of these reviews. I felt like i was in really good hands when Prime came out to do the consultation and price quote to take care of my pool. They tested and told me that the chemical levels of my pool were that equal to how much you would need to use in a large public pool. They told me it was at dangerous levels and could not be remedied in any way other than completely draining my pool and starting fresh. They also gave me a whole spiel about how they are the only company in the area that give each of their workers schooling and classes to truly understand the chemical makeup of water and how to treat. I really loved the part where they said that they always do ONE of THREE things, 1.chemical balance, 2.skimming/vacuuming or 3. deep scrubbing Sounds great, right?! Unfortunately they left a lot to be desired. one specific example is that our pool light broke and I had to call more that 5 times to get someone to call me back. Then i was told that they did have some one out two weeks before and that they had not contacted me yet because they were on vacation. So i waited and waited and nothing. When i finally got in touch with someone to see whats going on they said that they had in fact been trying to get in touch with me but had the wrong phone number on file and wrong email? Not possible because i had them verify my phone number during one of the calls.(not a biggie but notable) I won't even get into the amount of times we saw our pool tech blindly dumping bottles of chemicals into our pool (thanks to our ring camera) But there were even times where he/she would leave without doing the 1 of 3 things we were promised. I had brought this to the attention of customer support and the manager called me back and profusely apologized for the inconvenience, promised to bill us back a fee, and replace our pool person. I did appreciate that. No hard feelings onto the next one comes along and SAME EXACT THING. Fool me once, right? Except this tech one came to do service and our pump must have died from the heat - it was working when we left the house and when i got home it was dead.. I checked the play back from the camera and he came in, tested the chemicals, went over to the pump,, noticed it was dead, packed up and left.... without leaving a note, or putting in a service request for us.. what the heck! You can tell a lot about a company by what they do when they think no one is watching. Moving on.. We took up service with another company and guess what they told us. The chemical level was almost 5x the necessary for our pool and that we would have to drain it AGAIN. twice in one year?! The amount of chemicals that prime pool dumped into our pool was dangerous. I have babies and doggies and adults alike in my pool every weekend. This was very disappointing for us. I will say my husband called and explained it to them and asked for a credit for the water bill and service. They did offer to come out and drain the pool and fix the levels for us themselves. We did let them drain it but they did not offer to scrub it for free to clean the walls (they offered to do it for a charge.... c'mon!) and why on earth would we let them "fix" the new water... If you know how to do it we wouldn't be in this predicament. I see a lot of great reviews and I do understand that this could be the fault of one poorly trained tech.. but do yourself a favor. go to your local pool store as ask for a kit to do water testing. it is usually free or a small fee and take a look at what is in your water. I've been using Prime Pool Service for several months and the service has been fairly good. I complained about the tech doing my pool so much (and regularly) they finally replaced him with Matt, our current tech. Matt actually took time with my pool yesterday and did what he was supposed to do-empty baskets, empty our bottom dweller and add chemicals to the pool. He added some water to the pool and checked the pump to make sure it was running correctly. These are things I EXPECT to be done. The previous tech spent maybe ten minutes per visit and skipped a large part of the maintenance he was supposed to be doing. Matt is great and I hope he actually stays my tech. We inherited Prime from the folks that sold us our house, but they seemed like the right folks to go with as the pool looked great and they took the time to answer all my annoying questions when we were determining who to use for maintenance. Then we needed some work done, and they gave us all of our options with estimates, some advice on work we should do vs defer, and got the work done quickly. We even ran into some significant issues replacing the lights, and Cameron was incredibly creative and made a potentially unfortunate situation (not their fault, some pre-existing conditions) have a great outcome. Then the freeze hit. I read up and thought I knew a reasonable amount about pools in winter, but was petrified about what a week of freezing temps would do, especially multiple days in a row below zero. Prime sent out a proactive email with all the info they could provide on what we could do to give our pools the best chance of minimal damage, and it was a life saver. Everyone needed a little bit of luck to escape with no major damage, but luck favors the prepared and Prime enabled us to be prepared. I forgot to mention that Jonathon tried to sneak in the gate and turn pool on. The dogs were going crazy as I had let them out. He then came to front door saying he was trying to get in gate to put pool in auto mode. I walked around back and when we walked in the "puppy" ran at him and he said they were trying to bite him. I told him that is why there are Beware of Dog signs on house and gate. This is not Ist time they left me in a serious bind. When Richard was here and heater "all of the sudden malfunctioned" he didn't even troubleshoot it or anything. Left me with a pool not running at all. I wish there was a place for a "zero star". I was used by Prime Pool Service for about a year. Their service was friendly and my pool was clean, no algae and swim able. Since March of this year, 2022, their service has hit rock bottom. I started having problems with the water - cloudy, algae, dry skin and discomfort after swimming with my grandkids. I had problems with items specifically pointed out to the tech (which changed every month) with him not emptying baskets and pool sweeps, then getting angry when asked to come back and do what he was being paid for. I told the supervisors of the pool techs time and time again. They would call and either shift me off to someone else or just say "That is a training issue. We'll train him more on the problem you are experiencing ". When I called and told them o my pool had algae growing, they stated "sorry, we didn't change you over to the summer program. They added more acid, instead of checking to what may have been the problem. I took a water sample to Leslie's Pool company and found that acid in my pool was almost three times what it should be. THAT damages your skin,?the walls of your pool, bathing suits (what was dark green and now is much lighter) and the pool equipment. Leslie's solution...add a 13 pound bag of baking soda...which worked. Needless to say, Prime Pool service is no longer my pool service. When I called them to cancel my service, they did not offer to make it right, just told me that they ding your card for each month IN ADVANCE. I'll bet they learned that because of people waking up to bad service and cancellations. A WORD OF ADVICE...DO UPUR OWN SERVICE AND SKIP THE GARBAGE WIRH POOL SERVICES. YOU'LL SAVE $3,000 a year doing it'll yourself. read more

These guys are great. Not the cheapest in town for sure, but I'm a big believer in you get what you pay for in this world, and I have fired crappy pool services before. My pool was always sparkling clean, except for one algae issue and they cleared it up in 3-4 days as expected. service techs always spent 30-45 min each week like clockwork, no issues with techs. Communication was great, anytime I even had a questions I could simply email and they would get back usually same day, managers were very accomodating. I am currently doing everything myself to save money in the winter, changing careers... But I would not hesitate to hire them up again and recommended them to my landlord for his new investment property. I imagine the few negative reviews are from the average stubborn people that will simply never be happy with any type of service, but just my impression from reading their wording. And I've spent years cleaning my own pools and learning as I go, so it is easier to understand what they're talking about. I imagine some people might get leery thinking they're getting taken for a ride when in reality, their pool is in horrible shape. I see the same thing from people that don't know a thing about houses or cars, and the subsequent thinking that contractors and mechanics are ripping them off... read more

The true test of a company is how they handle and resolve issues. Being candid we are not the easiest customers to deal with as our expectations are pretty high. When leaving Their service tech ran into our stone gate column and destroyed it and put our security gate out of commission. I called and immediately had a return call from their management. They jumped in and hired folks to build a new column, replaced the lights and repaired the gate. They had a real sense of urgency and made sure it was done quickly and done right. Never once did they try cut corners or push off responsibility which says volumes for their integrity.!!! Now getting to what they do for a business of taking care of pools. The tech noticed some issues with my pool and I was immediately notified via an email. They provided options for review and repair. All was handled on-time, in a professional manner and on budget. I wrote a long review on Google, but it limited me here. The highlights: It gives me no joy to write this review, as I think that both Mike and Eric are good guys who can do quality work. Unfortunately for me, it didn't happen at my house and I had a really terrible experience. However, I rely on the online reviews when I select professionals and therefore I want to relay my experience for use by others. I contacted Prime Pool Service to come quote me on a pool plumbing job. I needed them to repair two areas of flex-tubing that were now above ground (1984 pool) and I wanted my equipment moved about 20 feet. When Eric left I found the following problems : 1. The flex-tubing was not cut out as Mike said it would be, and they only spliced in new PVC where the tubing had been above ground. Both Eric and Mike said that the flex tubing should not be used in-ground, and on follow-up Mike said he never intended to say that they would cut out everything I uncovered (which again was only about 15'). Whether he intended to or not, that's exactly what he promised would be done, and I am curious why any professional would leave sub-standard equipment in-ground when it's already been uncovered and could be replaced easily. Especially after telling the paying customer how low-quality that stuff is, which is what both Mike and Eric did. 2. The PVC lines were STACKED rather than laid side-by-side. This caused the PVC to stack up about 4 inches higher than necessary, and therefore was above grade. I did tell both Mike and Eric that I planned to go over this area with dirt and some pavers, but the PVC was so high that any landscaping would have ended up 6 inches higher than the surrounding area. The reason he stacked them leads to #3. 3. Eric did not replace the old PVC at my equipment, and he stacked the lines so the return lines would be in the same order so it was easier for him to hook back up. He could have EASILY run the lines side by side and replaced the plumbing at my equipment, but that would have required a little more work. 4. Electrical work was sub-standard. There were loose wires in my dirt, the timer box was not properly secured to the wall, and the electrical lines to the equipment were loose. He also did not properly fasten the PVC to the timer box and did not move the grounding rod for my pool pump (which was right next to the pump and he had to CUT THE LINE in order to move the pump in the first place). I was definitely pissed off at the way the job was done, and further upset that Mike was not willing to re-do the job in the way it should have been done to begin with. Mike kept telling me to calm down, even when I was perfectly calm. This was now day three and it was done in a piss-poor way, and I wanted it FIXED...not patched up. Oh, did I mention: 1. I had to actually help Eric move heavy items a few times. Once was the concrete slab out of his truck and another time I helped him move my equipment. I was happy to help because I thought the final product would be worth it. However, I would expect someone getting paid nearly $1000 for a job would not need the homeowner's assistance. 2. Eric broke a nipple off of my chlorinator and it now leaks profusely. He was upfront and honest about this (again, I think Eric is a super nice guy), but instead of going back to the store to get a new nipple he tried to merely attach the hose to the PVC. It looks fine, but as soon as the pump is on it leaks, a LOT. This also lets air run back into my lines so my pump loses prime each time it's shut off (you can hear air rushing back in the line). 3. My multi-port valve now leaks and never has before. This is old equipment, so I am not entirely surprised about this. However, had the plumbing at the equipment been replaced as Mike originally said it would be, this would likely not be a problem. The leak is at the PVC fitting, not in the valve itself. 4. 2 and 3 mean that Eric didn't test the equipment before leaving. I don't know if this is standard (he said he wanted the glue to dry - but I know PVC cement dries pretty quickly), but I would expect if a company cuts and moves lines they would want to test it out to see if it showed obvious leaks. This was not done, so now I have leaks to deal with as well. Eric said to call back if there were any leaks...but I don't think that's an option at this point. I have no doubt that I will get a response to this review stating how much of a jerk I am and how rude I was, but I am happy to share my photos and further details if anyone is curious. I was admittedly VERY upset at the quality of work provided, and I was insistent that the job be done the RIGHT way. Mike ultimately didn't believe he could "make me happy", even though I showed him exactly what it would take to do so. It was easier for him to just leave me to deal with the mess than do it right, and that's inexcusable in my mind. read more

So here's how this went down. A DirecTV tech accidentally dropped his ladder on some of the PVC pipe leading out from my filter. It took out the t-pipe with the sensor in it. I went to another pool company who said it would take a week to do an estimate. A simple verbal estimate from the other company told me it would be $600+. Not only did I think this price was high, I'm not willing to wait a WEEK for an estimate. Enter Prime Pool! Not only did I have an estimate within 4 hours, the ENTIRE job was completed within 36 hours, professional and clean, and it cost a touch over 1/3 of what the other company thought it would cost. My wife and I hired Prime Pool Service to remodel our old pool, including new surface, tile, coping, stone decking, and some new equipment. We got several bids and Mike at Prime Pool Service was clearly the most knowledgeable and professional person we dealt with. He took the time to understand what we were looking for and presented options that we hadn't thought of. Once we decided on all the details the contract was simple and straightforward, while the pricing was competitive with other bids. We were given a start date and an estimate of the time it would take for the project to be completed. The Prime Pool Service crews were very nice and polite, my wife especially liked that they sang while they worked! There were a couple problems uncovered as the project progressed and Mike was very quick to be onsite and take the time to explain what had been found and how we needed to adjust our plan to ensure a good end result. To our surprise the whole remodel finished 1 day before the estimated date. Prime Pool Service started up the pool and has been taking care of it every week since. The work done was in my opinion completed to a very high quality and we are just delighted with our new backyard! Winter Freeze 2021, Day 1 and.. my pool pump burned up. In the Spring I had a backflow stop installed and did not know how to winterize. Recalled seeing a Prime pool service truck and googled the Co. These guys had a truck out that afternoon! They winterized the pool and gathered info necessary to replace the pump, which they completed the very next day!
