Decided to go here the first time because we found out they have zucchini noodles available as a base option. Prime Poke is located within downtown Pleasanton. It's a very welcoming vibe here especially where they are located. They are also within a cute area where 3 small businesses are and have available outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. Food options are great. I had the 3 Protein Poke: All Salmon with Zucchini Noodles and Mixed Greens / Crab salad / Prime Poke Sauce Mild / House Aioli / Lime Ponzu / Sweet Onions / Green Onions / Carrots / Cucumbers / Seaweed Salad / Ginger / Fried Onions / Tempura Flakes / Roasted Seaweed My poke is always delicious and the salmon is super fresh. My hubby ordered the UnagiDon today with Brown Rice and Unagi Sauce on the side. He loved it.. he said it was cooked perfectly and not too sweet. Frank, Debbie and the young man here are so friendly as well as very attentive. We've had only a great experience here on both visits. My daughter and I were in the area and stumbled upon this place on Yelp. So glad we did because this spot is sooo good! Walked in and immediately greeted. It's a cute, little restaurant with modern decor. There's a few tables inside and also a patio as well. My daughter and I did the build your fresh poke with two proteins. We both chose salmon and tuna. I chose all the mix ins, wasabi shoyu & lime ponzu sauces, and topped it all off with furikake. It was like chef's kiss. Prime Poke is in downtown Pleasanton! I came on a Saturday afternoon and was served quickly. I chose the two protein bowl option because it also come with a free scoop of crab salad or spicy tuna! There is brown rice, white rice, zucchini noodles, and mixed veggies as a base option! There is a good choice of toppings and sauce options as well. Poke is probably one of my favorite dishes and this is definitely one of my top favorite poke spots in California. I think the combination of all the flavors pairs super well together. They also are very gracious with the fish scoops in your bowl. The bowls are also get filled up to the brim with all the different topics. I also appreciate how they're don't over-do the sauces. I think the seating outside the shop is so cute! It's a nice spot to eat outside with friends. There's also an ice cream shop right next store for dessert afterwards. I've walked by Prime Poke countless of times, I finally gave it a try! I stopped by Thursday night around 6pm for dinner. I came in at about the perfect time because about 4 or 5 people showed up after me. This space is very small, I'd say 5 people in there is tight. There is also no indoor dining, there is a few tables outside though. I was intrigued that they have zucchini noodles as a base, I had to try! I liked the crunch it added but I think it added excessive moisture to my bowl so once I got to the end it was very watery - almost soupy. Not my favorite thing. They had a good amount of options for protein, toppings, and sauces. The unagi sauce was a great touch and I don't always see it. I found this spot to be a tad more expensive than other places. We got 2 bowls, one with 2 proteins and one with 3 proteins. The total was $31 dollars before tip. They offer a free scoop of crab salad or spicy tuna, which is nice but other poke spots offer that as a toppings option with no additional charge and are less expensive for more proteins. Overall, this spot is cute, clean and service was good but if I'm in downtown Pleasanton, I'll probably be going somewhere else. Good option for a quick & fresh lunch in the area. read more

First time trying this poke place & I really appreciate the fact they were willing to accommodate my bowl despite me not wanting the crab salad. The customer service is great & they make it very clear they're understaffed & it could take some time if busy, the Poke is good not my favorite but they're so polite I'll continue to come back I've been here twice so far & my first time was bomb but I made it too spicy lol. Tonight I ordered two poke bowls and decided to try this new place. I so wanted to give at least 3 stars based on my experience in the business with good customer service but then within 45 mins after eating I became pretty sick which is my reason only giving 1 star. Fish looked fresh, but tasted so fishy we could barley taste any of the sauce while eating. I was concerned but so hungry ate more than half the bo before I finally stopped since something wasn't right. Sure enough it has given be abdominal pain shortly after. Next, the cost of these bowls was pretty high let alone nearly every topping was an additional price. When I mentioned why the high costs compared to other locations that we typically frequent they mentioned because they have some of the most fresh ingredients. The gentleman that served us was friendly and although it was quite apparent that tossing together poke bowls isn't his specialty, he still gets points for being generous with his portions. Bae and I split a 2-protein bowl which was the perfect size for us after all the fixins were added. Perhaps if he wasn't as generous, it might not have been sufficient for two people. I liked how some of the fish was pre-marinated (as poke should be...) - bae and I selected the Hawaiian ahi and the spicy salmon as our main proteins. The quality of the fish was pretty good and didn't seem to have the fishy taste, but everything was a bit over-seasoned. I did opt for a few different sauces to be tossed in (mild poke, teriyaki, and unagi sauce) because I wanted to taste them all so there's a possibility that I may have contributed to that...I also wished the crab salad wasn't just plain shredded imitation crab and actually had some kind of dressing to it, to enhance its flavor. All together the portions (if that's consistently how they do it) and the quality were there, but I wasn't too blown away by the taste. This downtown Poke restaurant is better than expected. It's right on Main Street, so parking can be difficult to find. There is a large lot in the back, however the majority of the spaces are reserved for the bank. Ordering is pretty simple. It's like most of the other Poke restaurants in the area. You can have a choice of one of two sizes: three ($10.95) or four ($12.95) proteins. The proteins offered were pretty standard: Hawaiian seasoned shoyu ahi, regular ahi, salmon, yellowtail, octopus, scallops, tofu. One of their more unusual protein choices was cooked chicken. You can get a scoop of fake crab meat or spicy tuna for free. The fake crabmeat was actually pretty good and it did not seem to have mayonnaise in it. The Hawaiian Ahi tuna seemed pretty fresh, however, there was some spiciness associated with it. The meat was fairly firm and did not have any stringiness. Pieces are small. The seasoning was a mix of soy sauce and sesame oil. I put a little house mayonnaise in it to cut the spiciness, which worked well. I believe I had about 2 tablespoons total, which is not a whole lot. My second protein was salmon. The salmon was mid grade stuff, fairly fresh, small pieces,edible, but not a huge amount of flavor. The third protein was shrimp. The shrimp was not overcooked. In fact it might have been very slightly undercooked. It had a nice "crunch" to it. The size of the shrimp was between small and medium. I was given a lot more shrimp than ahi or salmon. For you super tasters, there was a hint of preservative flavor. Easily remedied by dipping the shrimp and spicy mayo. Lol! DH tried the yellowtail, which was okay. He did not like the spiciness of the Hawaiian ahi. He really did not like the mayo on the scallops. I got half brown rice and salad mix for my base. The brown rice was actually very nice. It appeared to be a medium grain, not very fibrous, and quite soft. Salad mix was fresh. It seemed to be basic stuff from a box. DH got the regular white rice. He said it was okay and cooked fine, but definitely not as nice as the premium stuff that we have at home. Yeah, not a fair comparison! There are not a lot of choices for toppings, however, all of the ones that we chose were fresh and tasted pretty good. You can pick as many toppings as you would like for no additional fee. Except for avocado which was a dollar more. The seaweed salad seem pretty standard. Cucumbers were crisp. Edamame had good texture. Green onion, cilantro, they were fine. The furikake had a ton of stuff in it, including some stuff that tasted a bit fishy. I'd probably pass on this the next time. Fried onions were okay. Mango was a tad sour, but I was surprised to see this as an option. They had several dressing choices. I settled on a mild Poke sauce, which probably wasn't really that mild. We weren't exactly clear where the heat was coming from. I also got a little of the lime ponzu sauce. At a self-serve counter, they had bottles of spicy and regular mayo. Overall, it seems like a fairly substantial amount of food. I was definitely overstuffed for lunch. DH did not finish all of his rice. He said he could've eaten more. Prices seem just a tad higher than other Poke restaurants in the area. I think we would go back here because of the freshness of the ingredients. I'd like how I could customize the amount of mayo that goes into my bowl. However, I don't think this is a place where you can eat on a regular basis, based on convenience and price. read more

The spicy tuna was very oxidized and basically seemed like off cuts or leftover maguro that was minced into a brown mashed fish paste substance. So far, the best poke place that I've visited, so, yay! A bit pricey but even the 3 protein is plenty if you want to keep it healthy. The evening that my daughter and I visited, they had a complimentary scoop of Spicy Tuna or crab (artificial, so less fishy taste) - we both opted for the crab. She kept hers simple over rice with 2 portions of salmon and 1 of tuna with the Lime Ponzu; mine was over the mixed greens w/hamachi, salmon and the Hawaiian Ahi tuna (totally forgot about the distinct texture ahi had, but it went well with the salad), with cucumber, carrot, mango and wakame - oh, forgot the Lime Ponzu too - great combo, nothing conflicted so it melded well. With so many poké options nowadays, it can be difficult to pick a good place with fresh poké. Prime poké is one of those good places! They have a lot of raw fish options and even cooked chicken (if you don't feel like eating raw fish). With so many sauce and topping options, they have so many combinations for you to choose. I recommend trying lime ponzu with another sauce of your choice! It is with great hesitation that I wrote this review because I wanted to love this place. First, service was great, absolutely no complaints there. The food tasted good when I ate it, however, I became violently ill about an hour and a half later. I will spare y'all the details because it was the gnarliest, scariest food borne illness I have ever had with symptoms lasting a week. Because the cause of these issues was unclear at first, I had to undergo two relatively invasive procedures to figure out what was wrong with me. My gastroenterologist let me know it was gastroenteritis caused by the poke bowl. read more

I have to admit, this was my first time trying poke. Perhaps if I had decided after I tried it here that I love poke then this would be five stars. The restaurant is clean, bright, and has indoor and outdoor seating. The food serving area was very clean and the staff knowledgable and helpful for a newbie. I enjoyed my bowl which was tofu and veggies only since I'm a vegetarian. I had read in other reviews though that they would discount a bowl for veg-heads, but in my visit I discovered that they now have a 2-protein option on the menu and I was offered double tofu rather than a 1-protein price. They did indeed load on the tofu. It would have been nice if the tofu was marinated in something, but it seems as though it was just diced-up. So it was a lot of tofu-flavored tofu. The topping selection is very nice and I appreciated the spicy options, especially the serrano peppers. The price is acceptable for downtown Pleasanton. I don't think I will be seeking out poke in the future though as a cuisine as there are a lot of other (and better tasting in my opinion) options for vegetarians who want rice-bowl style meals. read more

WOOOOW! I am shocked this place does not have a 5 star yelp rating. I was working in Ptown and really wanted some Poké. After reviewing the 3 options close to me I settled with prime Poké because it seemed to reflect the most in what I look for in a poke place. The quality of the ingredients, taste of the sauces and the tempura flakes not only filled my craving but left me wanting more!! The ONLY con is that I feel like they could give you more rice. Prime Poké offers a large variety of selections when it comes to fish, toppings, bases, AND sauces. The fish is guaranteed to be fresh and clean as expected from a Poké place. And, considering the fact that there are an unlimited amount of toppings, the place is relatively cheap at around $12-15 a bowl. I know it sounds like quite of bit of money, but I promise, the bowls are extremely filling. I've been here multiple times, and my only real issue is that there have been some inconsistencies. The rice is often undercooked, which isn't too pleasing, taking into account that this IS a poké place (rice is half the bowl!). Some of the workers there also appear untrained; there are few that basically toss all the ingredients in without considering at all how it looks. However, despite that, Prime Poké is the perfect place to pick up a quick, casual meal with a friend, especially during the summer.
