From the minute we entered the room, we were treated like royalty - but with not a whiff of stuffiness. Our server and his assistant were attentive to our wants and needs without fawning. Food was absolutely delicious. I had the shrimp cocktail - with sinus clearing cocktail sauce made on premise. He had the crab cake, no filler, just crab. I had surf and turf and my lobster tail was full of flavor. My filet was cooked to perfection. He had the KC strip, blackened and was very happy. They've got a very nice pre-theater menu, which is a plus since they're across the street from the Aronoff. My husband I dined at Prime 47 tonight and it couldn't have been a nicer experience. The service was comparable to the old "maisonette" or the "cincinnatian". This was our first visit and will absolutely not be our last. The food was on point and the lobster tail was far superior to any other I have eaten at any other high end steak houses in the area. We did a large group dinner. I ordered the 8oz Filet Mignon. I was very disappointed with the quality and temperature of my steak. I could not eat but about 1/5 of my steak cause it was rare and cold when I ordered medium. If it wasn't cause my company paid for it, I would have asked for my money back. Miami's graduation was last weekend, we were in search of a very nice restaurant to celebrate my graduation because I waited so long to make reservation somewhere, prime 47 was the only restaurant we were able to get a table at. (we have ate at all the big-name restaurants in Cincinnati, so we were a bit nervous on prime 47) after we made our reservation a week in advance informing them it was for my graduation from college. Prime 47 made special menus for our table saying "congratulations graduate" which was a very detailed touch on our experience there. Prime 47 may have gotten "okay" reviews in the past, but after our experience there I would give prime 47 five stars . The quality of the food was great (The surf turf steak and scallops) great choice, Caesar salad was great, The shrimp cocktail was great and if you enjoy really hot cocktail sauce there's is probably the hottest I have ever had. The service was great and everything else you except from a high end restaurant. I would highly recommend prime 47 to a family member or a friend. read more

Came here for a work lunch with colleagues. It took over and hour and half for basic burgers I can only describe as mediocre at best. Waters were only refilled after I went inside and asked specifically for it. Three people had to leave before the meals came because it took so long. One entree was missing after the food was finally served as well as one of the to-go meals. The manager did not apologize at any point through out this lengthy process. One of the managers did however talk about comping the bills of the people who had to leave, but then decided eh it's just not worth the effort.... Very disappointing for such a nice restaurant. My Fiance and I decided to use the groupon we received as a gift on Saturday night, We arrived at the restaurant and sat in the bar so we could watch the final 4 game on the big screen TV's. The atmosphere was wonderful as the piano player was in the background so if felt like fine dining with fun. Our waiter Paul was delightful and engaging as we read the menu and decided on our win selections. Entrees come with a soup or salad so that was a nice surprise since most restaurants at this level are a la carte. We tried the largest steak on the menu and the sauteed mushrooms - oh my gracious it was a phenomenal steak!!! Melt in your mouth and the mushrooms were the perfect compliment to the meat. They also have delicious bread that is served warm from the oven. The best part of the night was our waiter - Paul was the perfect blend of fun, information, honesty and kindness. My fiancé and I love to try different steak houses, and overall this has to be our favorite. Anything we've had here has been delicious. Obviously the steaks and food are great and it's not cheap by any means (who wants a cheap steak anyways?) but it's everything else that makes it such a fabulous experience. The bread is so delicious it tastes like cake, the service is phenomenal, the food apps and drinks come out perfectly timed, and the convenience & ambiance of the location make it a great place. I always get the surf and turf and it's always amazing. My fiancé switches it up almost everything we go so we get to taste new things. We've never once had anything bad or mediocre. We decided to try the new steak house for our anniversary dinner. It was a perfect choice! The atmosphere, service & food were as good or better than the others we have visited in town. My hubby had a steak with one of their many toppings...cooked to perfection! I had the sea bass, which was delicious. My sister and I went to Prime 47 last night before the ballet. I am vegetarian (my sister is not) and it can sometimes be a challenge to find a place that offers good food for me to eat. Prime 47, being a steakhouse, made me nervous about my options. However, they surpassed my expectations. My sister and I don't normally eat at such fancy places, but we decided to get the whole experience for the night and decided to do dinner downtown before the show. I scoured the internet for a new place to try. Prime 47 got my attention after looking through their website. Booking my reservation online was super easy. I got an email when it was confirmed and another to remind me about my reservation. With my busy schedule, this was exactly what I needed. We arrive a little early for our reservation, but the girls at the door weren't upset about it at all. They both were friendly, greeting us and offered to take our coats. They offered for us to sit at the bar while they worked to check on our table. The restaurant was very classy, clean, warm and inviting. Blake, our bartender, was wonderful. I know a bartender can be nervous when someone asks them to suggest a wine. Blake picked the perfect white wine for me! When our table was ready, we were immediately greeting by the wait staff. They were attentive - pouring water as we sat down, offering to help us with any questions we had on the menu, clearing plates throughout the meal, etc. Our waiter even asked us if we were seeing the show. It's nice to feel like you are the only person in the restaurant even though you know there are other people there too. (Also during the meal they had someone playing the piano, which was the icing on the cake.) Like I said before, I am vegetarian. I wasn't expecting to see much vegetarian options on the menu. Prime 47 had many items from me to choose from. I ended up ordering the Caprese Salad and my sister had to the filet. We also order a side of truffle mash potatoes. The food continued our great experience. My sister said her filet was the best she has ever had (which says a lot because she loves steak!). I thought the Caprese Salad was fantastic. The presentation was wonderful and the flavors together made me keep eating it even though I was full. The truffle mash potatoes were creamy and delicious as well! Another fabulous meal!!! The Bouillabaisse was loaded with seafood....the wedge salad was yummy.....and a seriously great filet mignon. It was 1/2 price wine night,and the Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon selected by my wine connoisseur boyfriend was perfection, especially at half price . I took my daughter and four friends to Prime for her 16th birthday. I had not dined here before, but I will again. They had special menus printed that said Happy Sweet 16th Birthday. Nice touch. Robert and Alan were our servers and they were both very good. We bypassed appetizers, fortunately, because we walked out way to full with just entrees. House salads have never tasted better. Three of the girls, including my daughter, had the lobster bisque. They loved it. It was my daughter's first lobster bisque, but it will not be her last. The focaccia bread that came with salads was soft and very tasty. We asked for more. Entrees! Not an unhappy person at the table. Two salmons, one scallop, one pork chop, one regular 8 oz filet and I surprised the bday girl with a wagyu filet. We ordered truffle mashed potatoes, truffle Mac-n-cheese and tots as our sides. HUGE side portions - family style. The food was so good it made us all giddy. I brought a cake and the kitchen set it up and Alan brought it out to my daughter. I am here to tell you this restaurant is a great asset to the city. Our experience was out of this world. We started with the creamy spicy crab dip which I'm sure is not on the New Year's diet but it was sinfully delicious and a must try! My husband had the lobster bisque soup and of course I sampled and was tempted to finish it off for him but wanted to save room for the main course. I ordered the filet which you could cut with a butter knife, it was cooked perfectly and just the right size. My husband ordered the Dry Age KC strip and if you are truly a meat lover than you will really appreciate that this steakhouse knows how to age their beef. The flavor was remarkable! I don't normally order fries at a nice restaurant but I was intrigued and was very happy with the truffle fries, it was so nice to have a unique spin on the standard french fry. After all that I figured we had splurged so much I better top it off with dessert. Make sure you save room for one of their cookies, mark my words they will be known for that delicious perfectly "half baked" gooey straight from the oven cookie. So warm the ice cream is almost melted by the time it gets to the table! We loved it and will definitely be back! read more

Prime 47, thanks for coming to town. What a refreshing and enjoyable experience. For once, a steakhouse that is primarily concerned with the food that is served rather than the production or the "show". From start to end, the food was just wonderful. After cocktails, we had the crab cakes and beef tataki and couldn't agree on which one was better. We did agree on the lobster bisque, because we both ordered it. It was the best we've had in many, many years. It tasted like lobster bisque is supposed to taste. Our entrees, a filet and a dry-aged KC strip oscar, were wonderful and perfectly seasoned (meaning not overly salted). The sides, mushrooms, creamed spinach and lobster mac and cheese, were every bit as good as the entrees. None of them were over-seasoned. We could actually taste what it was we were eating. Prime 47 will be a wonderful addition to the Cincinnati dining scene. We look forward to going back this week to get a drink and appetizers at the bar. read more

The lobster bisque and tomato soups were so bad they had to be sent back and the seafood dishes were heavy with spice and over cooked. It was very poor. Last night my boyfriend and I went to dinner for our anniversary. We had the $70 dollar deal similar to those who wrote before, however our service and food was EXCELLENT. Not only were Paul & Paul (our two servers) amazing, friendly, quick, genuine they went beyond their capacity to make it a fun night for us. They recommended food for us that was delicious. We started with the crab cake (recommended to us) fantastic and perfect for sharing! I had the French Onion soup and it was very large, not a smaller portion that you normally find when you do these deals from Groupon and Cincinnati Reserve. had the Filet 8oz medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had the chicken Parmesan -- it was a very large serving but also delicious. We finished with the salted caramel brownie (suggested) very rich and again, large enough to share. I left very full and extremely happy. The atmosphere was phenomenal with the piano player in the distant. Not to mention, we received an email this morning from our server thanking us for dining last night. I would, hands down, choose Prime 47 for many more anniversary dinners. read more

I have to agree with the first review. Meh. At best. Had a capese salad that was under seasoned, with tomatoes that were bland. A pear martini that took a while to get, but was good. The bread was yummy. I had the rib eye. It was very fatty and over salted. The side order of mushrooms were just so-so. The brandy cream sauce was cold. For dessert I tried the strawberry shortcake. The cake was good, but the strawberries needed more juice. This dinner for one cost about $105 with tip. I don't mind paying that when the food is worth it, but this just wasn't. Love this place. I have been there three times and have had a great experience each time. I have only sat at the bar because of the happy hour and live music. I am always looking for live music during dinner, that is what brought me in the first time and why I went back. The last time I went for happy hour and ended up staying until close because the service and atmosphere is so good. Three of us went there for Restaurant Week. Service was very good and we appreciated the valet parking. What we did not appreciate was the loud, live singer in the bar. We were on the restaurant side but the singing was so loud we could hardly talk with each other. We all ordered the filet steak which was just OK. I found mine to have some fat/ gristle. Then we got the Key Lime pie which, as another reviewer mentioned, was half a portion (we know as we saw others who ordered off the regular menu be served a full portion). If the restaurant is going to do that, they need to say"dessert to share" on the restaurant week menu! Not sure we will return as there are better steak places. read more

Tried out Prime 47 last night with my boyfriend. We both hadn't tried it out before and it's relatively new in the Downtown Cincinnati area, so why not. To say the least, this place was excellent. The ambiance was a bit different than I had imagined but it's impressive and professional. The wine selection is very large and not that pricey in my opinion. They even have my favorite bottle of Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc in stock. The food was incredible. We shared the caesar and house salad as well as the crab cake to start. This crab cake was extremely well done, no mushy parts or breading you could see. I had the seared scallops and he had the ribs. They were both cooked to perfection, we both agreed on this. Our service was also excellent with our waiter Paul Eames. He was funny and charismatic and knew lots of things to recommend on the menu (like the crab cake). He even brought us out a free desert at the end of the dinner to our surprise, as well as taking a picture with us and giving it to us in a frame.
