Pad See You
Isabella C.

Came during the week with a friend, and was able to grab a table. The staff was very friendly and attentive the whole time! I got their lunch special with the pad see yew and crispy pork, with a side of crab rangoon. Everything was very fresh and delicious, though a little bland for me. It's a small restaurant but nice for a casual meal.

THIS WAS SO GOOD! Came here with my friend for dinner on Wednesday and it was busy! It's a cute small place in Davis - the food was delicious! I got the drunken noodles and seriously some of the best I've had - smoky spicy and yummy

This tasted great and perfect for a cold day. While the place itself is tiny, the service was quick and kind. While it was a little pricey for a bowl, it hit all the right spots

Ordered the pad thai. Food was fantastic, servers were friendly. Small but cozy restaurant.

Tiny, charming, little shop in the heart of Davis square. We came in on a Friday evening without having to wait. It was quite cold outside at the time and space is limited and we naively took the big table by the door. Which doesn't close all the way on its own. Oof. The lady there was kind enough to close it shut when folks came in and out but there was only one of her to do everything. We ordered golden bags, a pork belly over rice dish and a crispy chicken pad Thai. The taste was very on point for each of them, the golden bags were fried with fresh oil, you could tell, and a small bite carries a ton of flavor. The pork over rice was to die for. The flavors in this were some of the best Thai I've ever had. Bit of tangy, lots of basil, and plenty of kick, I'll be dreaming of this one for awhile. The chicken pad Thai was great, but nothing too outstanding. This place is at most a 4, I've had better Thai food nearby (Rod Dee anyone?) for half the price. Don't get me wrong this place is delicious, but not 20$/dish delicious. tldr; small cute place that has overpriced but delicious Thai food

I love my thai food, and Prik Nam Pla is one of my favorite thai spots for their flavor variety, spice, and presentation Prik Nam Pla recently just opened in Somerville, MA right next to Davis Square so this is definitely a spot to try if you're looking for a new thai food spot in Boston‼ They recently expanded their menu and we got to try their ginger rice with deep fried pork. When I tell you this ginger rice is the best I've ever had you really just need to try it for yourself! I'm definitely going back to try their ginger rice dish with chicken next time

Red curry with tofu lunch special with gyoza / Dec. 2023
Emily L.

This was my first time at Prik Nam Pla. The nearby shops shuffled quite a bit during the pandemic but I'm glad to see there's another little Thai place here after Kor Tor Mor closed. I stopped in for a quick lunch. It's a cute place with a few small tables and one that will fit a party of four -- but don't come with a crowd. Service is quick and friendly. I got one of the $13 lunch specials, tofu red curry with gyoza (knowingly not gluten free). It came in a industrial lunch platter that was a nice presentation even if the portions were smaller. The curry had a decent amount of tofu and some other veggies, although I wish there was more. It was flavorful and spicy for someone who can tolerate a mild amount but who doesn't eat a lot of spice (for comparison it seems hotter than Cha Yen in Watertown, another more authentic Thai place). The gyoza was deep fried and fine. I would come again to try something else if u needed a quick hot lunch in Davis. But if you want to be full, get a full sized portion.

Spicy Wings

Little Thai joint at the edge of Davis Square towards the Tufts side, in the space previously occupied by Kor Tor Mor. A couple tables and a counter with stools. Mostly takeout but they do table service, with very minimal service (you'll need to ask for anything you need; they won't ask). Spicy Wings: Crunchy, moist but not fully juicy, just spicy enough, and more sweet than spicy. Temperature-wise, the hottest wings I've ever had: even after a few minutes of photo taking and taking the time to eat all six wings singlehandedly, still piping hot and painful to hold. Nice balance of flavors, though mostly sweet chili. Based on flavor and texture, a solid effort. Chicken Kapow: My barometer dish for Thai food cleared the hurdles flavorwise, with a good blend of dark flavors (oyster sauce and such), herbal flavors (basil), heat (chiles), and accompanying vegetables (string bean). Volumewise, a little light, with most of the bowl being the white rice. Not a huge deal, but noticeable. Pad Thai: My wife got this with tofu. Wet and sweet. If you like your Pad Thai wet and sweet, this is for you. If not, it's not. Definitely enough promise to go back, looking to try the Khao Soi, which they bill as their signature item. Glad to have this place around, especially with DakZen changing up their service model. Hoping to up this to 4 stars on the next visit.

I went to Prik Nam Pla next to Davis in Somerville on 24 College Ave, Somerville, MA 02144 Prik Nam Pla is an essential table condiment in a Thai eatery. In many thaidishes they often pour a small amount over dishes such as fried rice, noodles, or curry to enhance the flavor of the dish. And boy oh boy did it really enhance the flavors of the dishes we had! For drinks we had a classic thai iced tea which was the perfect balance of sweet and refreshing. For appetizers we had the pork gyoza, shrimp tempura and golden bag. I personally never had a golden bag before! These were filled with chicken, sweet corn, and scallion. They became my personal favorite of the three. For entrees we had the khao soi kai (chicken) which was served with crispy yellow noodles, red onion, cabbage, scallions and lime. We also had kapow shrimp with vegetables Finally, for dessert we had mango sticky rice. The mango was fresh and blended well with the sweet sticky rice. I recommend ordering takeout here if you are in the mood for thai food and live in the Somerville, Medford, Arlington, or Cambridge area! Food: 8/10 Affordability: 8/10

Kapow & Coconut Juice
Michelle B.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Sat at a sunny window table. The kapow was spicy and flavorful, crispy lightly cooked vegetables. Enough for leftovers the next day. Coconut juice with slices of young coconut meat. Sweet & refreshing on a hot summer day. Highly recommend!

I went to this restaurant to purchase $75.00 in gift certificates. They Do Not have gift certificates. How ridiculous, they lose business.

I've gotten lucky with walking in but they have enough seating for one to generally be able to snag a table even around dinner time. During the summer, they have lovely outdoor seating! I've gotten take out here once and the food holds up well. Now onto the food... - drunken noodles: occasionally these are very spicy and occasionally they are appropriately spicy. They are always so excellent and the noodles are bouncy and chewy! I usually get this with pork. - pad see ew: this is my favorite Thai noodle dish and it's no exception here. Not as spicy as the drunken noodles but just a massive portion of filling noodles, chicken/tofu, and Chinese broccoli. There's something about the way they do the sauce here that is just so savory and delicious. It feels less greasy than it usually does at other Thai places, which I really like - pad mee korat: my friend always get this and raves about it. I felt like it was worth sharing that this comes in a huge plate and was finished completely. They have a lot of variety in dishes!!

Flavor-wise, this version was lighter and more lime-forward than the sweeter, dark soy profile I'm used to. It was also very liquidy, which didn't mesh well with the noodle type. The Pad Thai was fine overall. They use a different kind of noodle than I've eaten before, which was fun and unique. The flavor was solid, though not especially memorable. Portion sizes were very generous, especially for Boston. That said, at $17 per dish I didn't feel the quality quite matched the price, even with the large portions. Overall, it's not gonna be my go-to spot, but I'd be open to ordering again if a friend really wanted to.

The restaurant was buzzing when we arrived, but we were seated right away at the last available table. The space felt both lively and cozy, perfect for a date night. Service started a bit slow, but once it picked up, the pacing was excellent. Our server was more hands off, which worked well, letting us settle in and enjoy the night without feeling rushed. We started with the Larb Pork Dumplings, which were beautifully presented with chili lime mayo, fresh herbs, and crispy greens. They were fried perfectly, packed with bright Thai flavors, and the added crunch from the greens made the dish even better. With five dumplings, it was a great portion to share. For dinner, we ordered the Crispy Basil Burger and the Thai Garlic Burger, both cooked medium and full of flavor, with Thai seasoning adding a unique twist to the beef.

It has all of the flavors and textures of Khao Soi, with pickled mustard greens for acid, crispy noodles for a crunchy flair, and just the right amount of spice. I find myself craving it often! The one and only bone I have to pick with Black Ruby is that the service, while very attentive, is almost TOO fast. I get that they want to turn tables over efficiently, but the last couple of times I've come, I kind of felt like they were rushing me out. I came here to catch up with a couple friends and our food came almost instantly, before our drinks, and the waitress seemed eager to keep us moving. I think our entire meal was less than 50 minutes. While I'll definitely be back, I think it won't be somewhere I'd bring friends anymore since it's just not enough time for a full conversation.

One friend is a regular and she got her usual entree with a bunch of substitutions to accommodate her food intolerances (poor thing!), and the staff was very kind as usual. Another friend got the duck which is her favorite dish (she was happy with it!). I got spicy green beans and chicken and it was very flavorful and just the perfect level of spicy for me. Two of us ordered the hot sake (it's in the teens today!). The hot sake is actually a nicer brand than you sometimes get. It had a nice clean finish and maybe went down a little too easily! The best part about our dinner was that the staff let us stay and chat for hours without rushing us out. It was not a crowded evening being so cold but it was a very pleasant experience. My family has been coming to noodle market since we first bought our home in town in 2018. It's our go to place for pho when someone is sick.
