Pleasant/cozy spot that would actually be ok for a date, with good service, and I'd say 7-8 out of 10 for the actual food. We had drunken noodles which were actually fairly spicy (next time I'll specifically request "light/mild spice") and had a generous amount of beef. The Pad See Yu was also good quality. The Peking ravioli and crispy shrimp roll we ordered as appetizers were also pretty good, though I was puzzled that the dipping sauce provided didn't have any pepper/chilli option on the table to enhance them, as most Thai places usually offer. Generally, I would not exactly RAVE about this place, but it was good enough to make me want to come back for more at a later date. Prices were reasonable given the convenient location near Central Square. And hey, this is New England after all, so you'd be dumb to expect super authentic world class ethnic food of any sort anywhere---I was mainly grateful that this was NOT dumbed down, bland-as-hell tourist food. read more

Everything my friend and I had here was very mid, ranging from the soup to the curry, especially since we ordered four of the most staple kinds within the Thai cuisine realm. There's a positive aspect which was that they gave an abundant amount of food, as the pictures could show how much they stuffed their bowls and containers with meat and vegetables. But in terms of taste and everything else, it was okay. I had a massaman curry and it didn't feel like the curry flavor had meshed with the carrots, onion pieces, and sweet potato bits included, on top of the fact that the beef was very hard to chew and dry, even with curry on it. My friend had the red curry and didn't really comment beyond saying that she wouldn't bring others back here in the future, so I guessed that she wasn't satisfied with her food. We shared the soups together, and I was overall pretty happy with the tom yum soup, especially since I had them lower the spice level, so visually it looked clear, but the taste was still there, which I enjoyed. The tom kar kai soup didn't seem to have enough coconut cream to regulate the taste, because I couldn't identify the cream aspect of it. So, yeah, if one finds it convenient to stop by for a quick bite, I say go for it. The spice level was perfect , creamy sauce, the vegetables could have been cooked a little bit better, green beans were a little undercooked. I like how you can customize your preferred spicy levels for the entree dishes. My favorite was the chicken satay which was quite a big portion for its price. The chicken was not dry at all and was full of delicious lemongrass flavor. It came with two sauces which were both on the sweet side. The seafood madness was packed with seafood and came in a thick sauce. There were a lot of veggies like onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers. The sauce had a lot of umami flavor but I wouldn't have minded if it had even more seasoning. I thought the pad thai was decent. The portion was good and could be split into two meals if you are not hungry. I wish the scallions were more crunchy though-- they were on the mushy side. This is an unassuming Thai restaurant that satisfied our cravings for some good food, though I admit that most times, you can't go wrong with any Thai restaurant. Thai food in Central Square! This place is tucked away on a side street near the busyness of Central Square and it's one of my go-to spots for Thai food in the Boston and Cambridge area. Good for when I'm looking for a casual meal by myself or with a few friends, and if you can catch the lunch time prices it's very worth it. On surface level, the atmosphere seems a little more than casual (low lighting plus full table service with a small drink menu), but the experience and food are comparable to what you'd see at other casual and takeout Thai spots. Whenever I go, I always see the same woman running the front-of-house, and she is always very hospitable and quick to bring the food out. Good neighborhood stop for your Thai food cravings. I had forgotten how good their Beef Pad See Yew is - very generous with the meat and veggies. We usually get other items from here - the Shrimp Pad Thai is our usual go-to, and the papaya salad and chicken satay (plump and juicy skewers paired with sweet chili and peanut sauces) are other favorites. Lately we've also been getting the potato puffs (reminiscent of North Indian samosas and Malaysian curry puffs) and scallion pancakes (eternal crowd pleaser in my household) too. I also enjoy the various curries- can't go wrong with the green curry and Massaman curry, in my opinion. Ying, who is the sole server in the restaurant, is pleasant and efficient. I ordered the pad see ew vegan (no fish sauce, no egg). The sauce was pretty much just straight soy sauce, definitely not the sweet see ew sauce that's expected. I will say they had a good amount of veggies, but the rice noodles were also over cooked and fell apart easily. The pad Thai was mostly noodles, no lime garnish either. The summer rolls were yummy and fresh but the sauce didn't have peanut butter mixed in (was just straight hoisin), which isn't as good as a peanut sauce. Probably wouldn't return unless ai was desperate for food. Definitely not worth the dinner prices for Sunday lunch. read more

This will be my go-to spot for Shrimp Pad Thai in boston. The shrimp were nice and succulent. So perfectly cooked that it melted in your mouth. The pad Thai was incredibly flavorful and juicy with the noodles cooked perfectly (springy yet soft). We also ordered a beef massaman curry and chicken pineapple fried rice. The massaman was good, but portion size was just a little small and the chunks of beef were slightly over done. The pineapple fried rice was average like any other place. Service was great. I was very back and forth about writing this review. I just ordered a vegetarian green curry and it was the worst experience. First the green curry was completely water. It was almost sweet. When ordering i told them to make it mild. It wasn't spicy at all. It was covered in vegetables that aren't even part of the green curry dish. It was so watery. It had no consistency. It was a plate of liquid water with no flavor. It's by far one of the worst curry dishes I've ever experienced. I wouldn't even call it a curry. It did not have any consistency but water and a bag of random vegetables. As a person who travels a lot and eats a lot of Curry I can definitely tell you I would never recommend a veggie curry from Pepper sky. Hopefully this was just one mistake, but I had to throw my whole dish away. read more

They have the curry in lunch and dinner prices. I got the yellow curry with duck. It wasn't too spicy but there's a slight kick. Pepper Sky's is located a short walk from the main drag, just beside Rangzen on Pearl Street. They have a lunch menu and we were able to order off of it on a Saturday afternoon. With its rather cute moniker, I love Ma-Ma $10.95 (on the specials menu) turned out to be a rather large portion of stir-fried egg noodles, chock full of vibrant vegetables and tender slices of chicken. It had lots more veggies than my vegetable pad thai $8.95 (off the lunch menu), even though I couldn't finish my noodles either. Their soups are also full of hearty ingredients - whether a rainbow of bright colored veggies in a clear broth, or a bounty of clear noodles in the Clear Noodle Soup (chopped chicken in clear broth, seasoned with wood-ear mushroom, bean thread, scallion and roasted garlic) $4.50, and the portions were rather generous for a single diner. One bowl of soup would be plenty as a hearty snack for a healthy diner. Take out containers were needed for all, except the one who ordered the Seafood Madness* famous on phuket island, this dish consists of shrimp, bay scallop, calamari and mussels, sautéed with onion, mushrooms, bell peppers and garlic in a basil-roasted chili sauce $8.95, which arrived as large chunks of seafood with fresh veggies with a bit of heat in the sauce beside a scoop of white rice. There are so many choices on the menu and definitely coming back to try another thing.
