I'm a fan of supporting local, but I've had a few really disappointing experiences with this location. The most recent included not having an order placed in advance with the manager. It ruined our event. We had to go next door to Starbucks to fulfill our order which made us an hour late for the event. Press has lost several customers now. I love Press Coffee and appreciate locally roasted coffee companies which we need more of here in the Phoenix area. I have been waiting for this location to open forever because it is very close to my home and it is their new roastery which is great because you get a behind the scenes look at how coffee is roasted. Freshly roasted coffee is best! Everyone knows the coffee offerings here are superb, especially the oat milk latte or oat milk mocha (yum) but this review is on the atmosphere and building/parking. I waited a week after opening to go because we knew it was going to be busy and that didn't matter because it was so busy when we went that we had to park in another businesses lot. Of course, the line was long and the place was packed but I have been back several times since and the parking has been fine (got to park right in front) and they offer this location now on their app so ordering and picking up is a breeze. The only downside for me is the noise level and smell of bacon. I think they may need a better ventilation system because the smell of bacon was so strong that my coffee smelled like it and so did my clothes for hours after even though I was in there for less than 60 seconds picking up my to-go order. The sound is the other issue. Obviously it is a great big industrial space which I love, but I could never go there to work on my computer unless I wore headphones since the sound echoes and travels in that space. Maybe eventually they should include some additional padding somewhere for sound absorption. So, overall love this place but right now it is just my quick order on the app and pick up to go place since I can't see myself spending any time there enjoying my coffee and working. read more

This little coffee, wine bar, restaurant has some great curb appeal going on! I was driving by on 32nd st heading to a different restaurant for brunch and decided to try Press instead. It didn't disappoint. I don't drink coffee but they had other options like a mimosa! The coffee did look and smell amazing though. Their menu was on the small side for food but they do a good job with what is available. I ordered avocado toast and my friend ordered a chicken quesadilla. The restaurant is counter service so they handed us a number. We went and sat outside on the patio and didn't hear them calling that our food and drinks were ready on the counter inside. Thank goodness I heard them yell out "last call for Megan S!" Why did they bother to give me a number? Other than that, we had a very pleasant experience and will be back again! read more

There are two levels with lots of seating. You walk in and see them roasting their beans. I like this place. The coffee is good and the ambiance is nice. the service is warm and friendly and i really like the menu variety for coffee (for example an OAT MILK LATTE - who knew)? Today I ordered a nitro cold brew and a shot of espresso and my mom ordered a drip coffee. The first time I ever enjoyed nitro cold brew was at the Press Roasters location at the Scottsdale quarter. It was amazing. However the nitro cold brew at this Press location was not. It tasted very light; it lacked the smooth full body flavor typically found within a nitro cold brew. The espresso shot I ordered was amazing, I would give it 5 stars. The drip coffee my mother ordered was very watery and tasted too earthy, almost like dirt water with a bitter aftertaste. This coffee shop blew my standards out of the water. At first, my partner and I were hesitant to visit because we saw that they had only 3.5 stars. Boy, that rating couldn't be more inaccurate. To start off, the exterior. The actual design and construction of this shop is so unique. It is industrial, modern, and clean, yet it still has the most warming energy. When my partner and I went up to order, we were greeted with the biggest smile, and a whole lot of patience, for we could not decide what delicious items to order. My boyfriend ordered the burrito, and I the avocado toast, and oh man. The quality was off the shiz. The quality is the perfect ratio of milk to espresso. We were so impressed. To finished things off, the manager, as he was leaving, asked us people at the bar if we would like a free drip before he goes. Of course I accepted this offer, cause heck yeah, but also it just made me feel so welcome and appreciated, like I wasn't just another customer at the local coffee shop. They clearly take time to create a small community, and I appreciate it so much. Coffee shops can be so exclusive and cold, and this place was definitely no where near that. Thank you Press! I'm visiting from out of town and when I was ordering my drink, I asked what is the largest size you have in a hot mocha? The guy said 16oz. I asked if I could get a 16oz peppermint mocha. He said we don't have that, so I asked could I get a salted carmel mocha instead and he said yes. I paid for my drink and he said he would bring it out. I didn't hear my drink called out as time had passed and my friend asked if mine was at the counter. I went up and asked if that was my salted carmel mocha, and was told it was a carmel latte, so I went and sat back down. More time passed and my buddy went up and asked about my drink. They said that another drink was sitting at the counter. I said that isn't what I ordered. She said we don't have that. I said that I was told you didn't have peppermint mocha, but was told you had salted carmel mocha. She replied with do you want me to remake that same drink that has been sitting there for the past 10 min. I felt like she was incredibly rude to say that. Why would I want someone to remake the same drink that I never ordered? Why didn't she apologize for the misunderstanding and offer to let me change my drink order or refund my money. I declined her offer to remake the wrong drink and walked out. I felt insulted by her response and felt like she was blaming me for the misunderstanding. You shouldn't tell someone they can order a drink and then call out a drink that they didn't order without telling them that you don't have it, then offer to make them the same drink they didn't order and remind them that it sat there for 10min as if its their fault. I'm very understanding about accidents and miscommunication, but her offering to remake a drink I didn't order was rude and unprofessional. That is what made me mad and walk out. *Revised review* Setting my personal expectations for this place too high was based on all that I've read and heard about Press Coffee. Yes there is no drive-thru, which isn't terrible but when you're in a rush it sure does help sometimes. If you're hankering for a flavor in your coffee they are limited to your basic mocha, white chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla and caramel. Today I wanted to get something with Irish cream thinking they would have it but they did not so I just ordered the Americano instead and their hot version only comes as large as a 16 ounce. It also took a few minutes longer than expected being that no one was in line ahead of me, but yes coffee made to order takes time . And when I asked for some cinnamon which wasn't at the do it yourself cream and sugar bar, the girl told me to bring my coffee over to her so she could put the cinnamon in. *Note - it didn't occur to me at that time, but for safety purposes it was best that my barista did put the cinnamon in my coffee for me to avoid germs of touching the container* I will be back to try another coffee because yes it was GOOD and I do prefer it without sugar and other added flavors.... read more

Went in for a nice cold Vanilla Latte - they missed the order and when I asked about it, after waiting 15 minutes, I was treated rudely and accused of not giving the order. The person I gave it to went "on break" and the manager couldn't care less that I had been waiting quite a while. I waited another 12-15 minutes and finally got my coffee beverage. They give me a slightly different drink every time I order the same thing, but the drink usually tastes pretty good and I don't have any complaints. For example, I asked for an Arnold Palmer once and they gave me the peach black tea. I also got a refill and the same Arnold Palmer tasted slightly different the second time, but I still really liked it. I got their cold brew with almond milk and caramel once, and it tasted really watery and just bad. Maybe it was on me, I should've added more sweetener, but since they are known for their coffee I thought it'd be a little better. At first I didn't like it but the flavor grew on me. The food prices seemed pretty expensive at least $10 per item. My coffee was over $4 which also seemed a bit high for a small cup. Love coming to Press -- specifically this one because it's big! As someone that works from home (don't we all now lol) it's so nice to switch up my routine and come work here. The staff is always so friendly. Food wise, it's a coffee shop not a restaurant, but good bites either way -- I recommend the Caprese Avocado Toast, the Breakfast Sandwich, the chocolate muffin and the Turkey Pesto Sandwich! I've recently gotten into coffee this year pretty heavy. You could say I'm an aficionado. I totally understand how people get into wine now. Because that's how I'm currently trending with coffee. There are so many different flavors because beans from different countries and different regions in the same country and even the same bean can be different tasting depending how it's processed either washed or natural process. Natural is normally sweeter and can be fruitier where washed is more crisp, clean and consistent. But anyway. This new Press off The 51 and Shea is crazy impressive! Two story roastery, cafe, bar, restaurant, lab, cupping, shrine to 3rd wave coffee. This is Press. They always have at least one employee that will teach you something new about coffee. Press employees are basically coffee somaliers. They are all very well trained, they make great recommendations, they serve incredible coffee and the menu is fantastic for hardcore coffee aficionados like me. If you're not that into coffee go to Starbucks or Dutch Bros. If you want another level and truly appreciate real quality coffee. Go visit a press coffee and enjoy some of the finer things in life (great coffee). read more

Loved the new building on North 32nd Street and Shea. Store was very empty at 10:00 am on a Saturday. Front counter clerk was rude and unfriendly. We had carried in some leftover strawberries and a breakfast meal for a friend we were meeting. After we purchased 5 drinks and started to find a table to meet, he told us very bruntly that we were not allowed to have any outside food or drink. We can understand that, but he could have been much nicer about it. Then he came to the area we were sitting and told us that we were not allowed to move any chairs. I normally love press but today my husband, daughter and I went in for a coffee and some breakfast items. I'm aware that they make the food fresh so it usually takes a while but they didn't look that busy. My husband and I ordered some coffee, 2 breakfast sandwiches and avocado toast. We stood on the side and waited for our order. After waiting for 25 minutes we asked one of the baristas if he would mind checking on our food because it had been a while. It looked like there was 6 employees working the coffee bar and maybe one person in the kitchen. The guy said our order would be ready in 2 minutes and he went back to help. We continued to wait for ANOTHER 20 MINUTES!!!! I had been keeping an eye on the window when I saw what looked like our breakfast sandwiches (still waiting on the avocado toast) now feeling very frustrated I watched about 4 other people complain. I'm still trying to be kind as I worked service industry for several years and I know that the kitchens problems are beyond control but I feel as if a good manager could be out apologizing to customers. FINALLY our food is called. We pick it up and tell the people working "hey this took a really long time, it wouldn't be a big deal if you just said that the kitchen was behind when we ordered" that way we could decide if we wanted to wait. The girl working responded with "WE HAVE BEEN TELLING PEOPLE THAT" if they had told me would I have said something? All of the people working had snarky comments back when we wait AN ENTIRE HOUR for avocado toast. Literally crazy. By the time I got home the avocado toast was barely warm and the breakfast sandwiches were cold. The cheese wasn't even melted. Unfortunately I don't have intentions of returning, it's sad because I live walking distance from here and I generally refer so many people but this service experience was SO BAD I can't in good faith refer anyone. read more
