I was blown away the first time I stepped in to be able to enjoy a relaxing morning coffee at such a clean and beautiful modern design featuring simplicity and North European style. I love an environment given to mean different and itself-oriented and blossoming in an elitest fashion. If you feel like a white collar on a day of casual charting and programing, this is certainly the place for you. Dispite my long-winded introduction to its style, coffee as the main seller which I have yet commented on after about 200 words of cliche served its purpose in standard quality and upscale decoration. If you can take a look at the coffee cup in the picture, you can see how beautifully it's made. To that extent of elegance, I paid my respect and appreciation down to my heart. My ratings to a coffee place usually covers quite different criteria besides quality itself, and is included in the Service section, given the fact that most places are oriented in self servicing. And that includes seatings, charging outlets, wifi connection, and whether this place has nonsense like a machine requiring you to tip the baristas without them serving it to me...Seating is sweet, high chairs aren't usually comfortable but to follow the main design idea of the place. Charging outlets aren't there...I failed to find a place to charge my electronic devices. Wifi connection is good as I remembered. As for tippings, optional as always but as I said, didn't make much sense. I guess it's not a problem since most of the places are doing that nonsense now. I apologize for my words. This place is what's rated, pretty good to grab a coffee and visit. I do recommend this place but one thing I don't quite understand not just this place but coffee places in general that goes into chain business, and that is the very similar over-priced experience for just a cup of coffee. And to be frank, Starbucks seems a little more economically friendly for the same price. But here, cheers to the quality! P.S. Muffin was not warmed because they don't have a heating device. I have found a new hangout! They have excellent drinks, a robust food menu, super friendly staff, plenty of seating, and even a parking garage to keep my beloved wheels out of the Arizona summer sun. Oh, and let's not forget free, fast wifi, and their music list seems to have been taken from my own. (Basically, you win my heart when you play The Cure, but you also play Interpol and The Smiths? Yes, please!) But you come here for coffee (I mean mostly - it's 105 out and they have good a/c too). I did one of the "shakers," and I was NOT disappointed! I chose the chocolate peanut butter one, which was a creamy (yet dairy free) mixture of cold brew, PB, and chocolate, with a touch of agave, all swirling together for flavors that made me drink it a little too fast. (I'm going to get all Oliver Twisty "Please, sir, I want some more" in here.) They also offer these in chocolate or PB solo, as well as chai. I went in the other day on 10/30 and ordered some drinks and breakfast food. It was a spontaneous stop after a morning outing while traveling the weekend in Phoenix. After squaring up by paying cash, I realized I didn't have extra to leave a tip. I asked the barista if I could send him a tip via Venmo or PayPal. He graciously told me not to worry about it, and that his belief was to just treat others the way he would want to be treated (the Golden Rule) and he was just focused on that and letting the results take care of themselves. I was really impressed by his wisdom and made a note that while I wasn't able to give him a financial tip, I wanted to write a positive Yelp review. May good things come his way! This place is clean, adorable, and quick. I love their app for online ordering and my drink has always been ready for pickup, which I appreciate in these crazy times of COVID-19. Their chai is like no other I've had, and it a delightful treat. Iced tea is reasonably priced, comes in 32oz (yay) and tastes amazing unsweetened. The staff is always friendly and smiling. A few months ago, before we moved to the neighborhood, I spent a few hours working here, and enjoyed the small friendly crowd and was never made to feel unwelcome for spending so much time. She didn't offer to fix the mistake, but was quick to take my order for another one with the correct milk. Despite not being a coffee drinker in anyway shape or form, I'd venture a guess that I've probably been to every coffee shop within a mile radius of my Downtown Phoenix apartment at this juncture. For those who know the landscape down here, you know just how daunting a task that truly is. Its a cliche to say there's a coffee shop on every corner, but in Downtown its truer than you can imagine. Other than pizzerias, there's probably no other restaurant category with more saturation in Downtown. So why visit Press Coffee? Well, I needed breakfast early on a Saturday morning. And while I could get a donut or a pastry at any coffee shop, Press has a substantive menu of breakfast items. So at 6:30am, off to Press. Press Coffee is a north Phoenix based coffee chain founded in 2008 by Steve Kraus, Jason Kyle, and Alex Mason. Their main coffee roasting operation is in North Phoenix, but they now have 8 coffee shops in the valley. And their Downtown location can be found on the northwest corner of Central & McDowell on the bottom floor of the Muse apartments (right next door to In Perfetto Gelateria). While the atmosphere certainly resembles a traditionally coffee house, the layout is pretty chic. There's seating for I'd guess 30 or so inside with additional seating for another dozen or so outside. Order your drinks and food at the counter and sit where ya like. I whet my whistle with a little OJ to start with and then proceeded to order a pair of breakfast items. First off, Press' signature breakfast burrito. The Press Burrito. Scrambled eggs, quinoa, avocado, kale, and cheddar cheese. A little mild salsa on the side. And to round it out, a piece of whole grain toast coated in nutella. Yes, I'm well aware this might be the most millennial sounding breakfast ever, but I apologize for nothing. Total cost for the OJ, food and tax came to $15. Food took a little while (a little over 10 minutes), but eventually arrived at my table. The burrito was okay by itself, but really good with the salsa added. Copious amounts of egg, cheese, and avocado, though unsurprisingly the kale and quinoa didn't do much in way of flavor. But the salsa brought everything together, so be sure to apply that. The burrito was filling, but not too hearty thanks to the healthy veggies. My slice of nutella toast was a very pleasant morning snack. Perfectly thick toasted whole grain bread and plenty of nutella lathered on. A solid start to my Saturday morning. Press also has numerous sandwich and salad options for lunch (or brunch if you prefer) to go with their numerous coffee and smoothie drink options. For those who live at The Muse or work nearby, Press appears to be a perfect early or mid day fix. Parking is probably the only challenge with this location as the Muse has only a limited number of visitor spots to go around, so just bear that in mind. Does Press bring anything uniquely new or innovative that the other Downtown coffee shops don't? Unless you're a coffee snob, my answer would be no. That said, Press' Downtown spot is inviting, relaxed, and offers a quality menu of food items made right. And on mornings like today, that's more than enough to make me happy. read more

This location is in the MUSE apartment complex area. You can park in the parking garage if the few spots outside are filled. They have tables outside for good weather days. This is the biggest location of Press that I have been to and it is very cozy and seems like a great place to study or read with a good cup of Joe. They offer free refills on drip coffee if you're staying in for a while. We love their cold brew, and now that it's in cans for easy portability, we love it even more! read more

The inside is very nicely decorated, keeping with the red accent designs of the building. Very hip and trendy. The drink selection is top notch with some of the best coffee I've had in the valley! Tons of options! Staff is always very friendly and courteous. I've admittedly never had any of their food options but they all look very good. My only word of advice to management is to change the lids for hot drink options. Any excessive pressure in the middle or holding the cup from the top can and will cause the lid to pop off, spilling delicious hot coffee all over yourself. This will definitely ruin your morning. It's happened to me at least 5 times. They do have more eco friendly options for reusable sturdy cups in the form of a Press labeled hydro flask but at 50 dollars it's a little much for the size. Those seem to be the only two options. That is the only reason I hesitate in giving this place a 5 star review. I have since learned to handle the cups with utmost caution, like a bomb defuser meticulous handling a potentially volatile and explosive item. All in all, I will keep coming to this establishment and believe it to be one of the best, if not the best in valley. Definitely worth checking out. read more
