special of the week 'banana pudding' latte
    Theresa S.

Been hearing so much about this place, decided to finally stop by! Was greeted as I walked in and was told about this special they had. Banana Pudding Iced Latte, with homemade banana syrup, I was sold! The owner was extremely sweet, welcoming, and explained a bit about 'Maleta!' She told me I could walk around the art gallery while I waited for my drink which was such a treat. There are chairs and a few small tables to sit in while you wait as well, but I recommend checking out the beautiful artwork. Walked around and then before I knew it, my drink was ready. This drink tasted absolutely incredible!!! So much flavor, coffee was immaculate. Can't wait to come back and try more of her drinks!

Maria who's the owner is one of the most ambitious and kindest people I've ever met. The coffee, the combinations, and the ambiance is amazing. While sipping coffee you can enjoy the local art and experience the views of Downtown PHX. If you find yourself debating on a coffee shop support Maleta Cafe it is absolutely delicious!

Yummy drink, I got the Cairo Latte, quite tasty (date, also house made syrups). Cute little spot inside the Art gallery. There's a couple little tables to sit and enjoy your coffee plus the art gallery and gift shop. But I came for the coffee and it didn't disappoint, presentation and taste chefs kiss!

Truly a hidden gem in Phoenix! Maleta cafe is tucked away next to the Latino Arts and culture center! There is plenty of art to explore while waiting for your drink. We had some great conversation with our barista who was extremely friendly and welcoming. She told us that the matcha is from Japan and that all of the syrups are made in house. The guava matcha I ordered was the best matcha I've had in a long time. My friends who ordered the specialty lattes were also very happy with their drinks. This is an amazing local spot and truly must visit if you are in the area.

Maleta Cafe is a cute little shop inside the Arizona Latino Arts and Culture Center in downtown Phoenix. It has a travel-inspired drink menu, which looked really creative. It's like a getaway without leaving Phoenix, no boarding pass required! And the little cart where you order is adorable. Latino art is so colorful and inviting, it offers the perfect setting for a nice stop. The drinks all looked really good. I was bummed that they had no decaf options. I can't do caffeine so I only had a treat, but my friend said his coffee was really good. They did have 3 different kinds of treats if you want a bite to eat with your drink. The strawberry butter cookie (I think that's what it was called) is delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly. If you want to extend your stay, there is an art gallery, and a decent-size gift shop. Metered parking outside. Plenty of space available when I stopped by, but you know downtown Phoenix... it's hit or miss with parking!

Saw the reviews about this place and decided to try, it didnt disappoint! The worker was so nice and welcoming with great service. She explained what flavors there were and even helped us with recommendations! They feel very genuine about what they do and it shows. The matcha was really good, had a nice color, and taste! They also invited us to walk around the gallery and told us we could eat here too. I would come back again :)

There's a moment when you walk into Maleta Coffee where the coffee becomes secondary. Not because it isn't good (it's fantastic) but because the art on every wall earns your full attention before you even place your order. I discovered this magical spot pretty randomly...I was looking for a quiet place with great coffee to take a call that I couldn't postpone. I found all that and more. The spot in located inside the Arizona Latino Arts & Cultural Center in Downtown Phoenix (didn't know about that!) and it truly reflects it. This isn't a coffee shop that hung a few prints to fill space. It's a curated gallery experience anchored by beautiful art, including a tribute wall celebrating female artists Frida Kahlo (), Selena, and others whose voices reshaped culture. I stood in front of it longer than I expected to. Maleta means suitcase in Spanish, and the whole place carries that vibe. The menu pulls from flavors across different parts of the world, the art represents colorful perspectives, and the space itself feels like it was designed for people who want to slow down and actually be somewhere. The coffee is intentional and specialty-forward. It looks like they host events here too, which tells you everything about how seriously they take community. If you're looking for a place to pause, enjoy a well-made drink, and let yourself be genuinely moved by beautiful art -- this is it. One of the more meaningful coffee experiences I've had in Phoenix.

    Cute sign

Just go here!!! The service was friendly and informative and the drinks were creative and delicious. I have been to many small coffee shops in Phoenix that feel performative, grayscale, and trend-centric, with no joy in the atmosphere. Maleta is none of these things. I will have to come back for the matcha, other customers ordered it and it looked incredible. They are located in a scenic area of downtown and are inside the Arizona Latino arts and culture center, so I'd recommend making an afternoon out of the experience.

Apparently the shop sources coffees and teas from local businesses. For example, coffees = Infusion Coffee Roasters in Tempe, loose leaf teas and chai = Maya Tea Company in Tucson, kombucha = Milly Moon Kombucha in Phoenix, and breakfast burritos = Lua Lua Catering. [Parking]: Mostly metered parking and I ended up parking few blocks away from the shop (plenty of metered parking spots near the intersection of E McKinley St & N 5th St). [Atmosphere]: Inside of this historic house, the wall features the work of local artists. The shop also has a cute outdoor patio area with tables. [Menu]: Apparently Matcha Latte is one of the more popular drinks here. The shop offers 12 black tea options, 9 green tea options, 8 herbal tea options, 4 white tea options, and 3 oolong tea options. *** Matcha Latte (16 oz, iced - $6.25): I was surprised that my drink was sugar free by default and I probably say yes when the staff had asked about adding sweetener. The drink was not as creamy as I thought and it was honestly a fairly mediocre drink. The drink also came with a paper straw. *** A great spot for a casual 1st date due to great vibe, but matcha latte just didn't hit the spot.

The first time I ordered it unsweetened was accidental, but trying it without sweetener or flavor was what made me realize that their matcha may be the best I've ever had. I've also had their Mas matcha latte and it is also absolutely delicious and simple and still allows me to taste the matcha through the vanilla and sweetness. I've been to other places that serve Kettl matcha, but none have tasted nearly as rich as Futuro's. The atmosphere itself is true to its name. It is futuristic, simple, and beautiful. It is full of unique art pieces of all types, and they sell their coffees and teas as well. I feel at peace inside and they always have vibey music playing at a perfect volume and incense lit. The service itself is one of a kind and makes me feel like I'm at a 5-star restaurant. They bring your items out on a beautiful tray and will always serve your drink with a cup of water on the side if you order it for here. They will even package your food up for you, which I would never expect from a coffee shop. It can be busy at times with a bit of a wait because the drinks are all made one at a time, but it's always worth the wait. The place isn't very big but has plenty of seating given the space. For working from home, they do have wifi but limited outlets. Their pastries served from a local bakery are also delicious.

It's a fantastic coffee shop designed with simplicity and producivity in mind - hosted in a gorgeous building with exposed brick and ceilings, which give it an industrial feel. My take on the space was it breathes this interesting balance of lingering, connection with others, and productivity. Almost every seat had a corresponding table, so that's a warm invitation to bring your devices in. There was a Ducati (!!!) parked right across from the coffee bar, which I later learned belongs to the owner just sharing his passion with the coffee community. Small detail, but it says something about the place. Definitely not a coffee shop trying to be a copy and paste chain. Menu had a few creative options I wouldn't mind coming back to try. They've also got their own merch line; the cups were also designed well enough that you'd actually want to keep one. There's street art right across from the shop worth a look if you've got a few minutes to spare. If you don't mind a short drive for a great cup and a space that actually feels lived in, this one delivers. PS - Parking can be tricky. It looks like there's ample space to park, but a lot of that is for Galvanize and the offices in the building. Towing trucks come over often, so heads up if you're going to park there. The housemade syrups are a refreshing upside from the commercial syrups used at a lot of coffee shops. Almond and oatmilk substitutes are available. I like that you can add more syrup to up the sweetness, but it will cost ya. TOUCH GRASS (seasonal)- this strawberry match had a nice sweet and bitter balance of the matcha. The creaminess also mellowed out the whole drink. It is very mild with the strawberry so the sweetness was subtle. Not bad, but depending if you want more strawberry flavor you should add extra shot of strawberry syrup. Overall I think it was a really good strawberry matcha; one of the best I've had. The inside is large and spacious but very sterile like a museum. It kinda gave a cold ambiance. The only downside is that the parking lot is not huge. The spaces in the actual lot are very sparse. The side lot for parking is inconvenient as you have to walk around the long fence just to go in, so trying to get in and out quickly might be a problem. You can definitely get your coffee buzz here, but just remember folks, buzzed driving is caffeinated driving.

It just tasted like harsh, strong tea, one of the other girls in the group went back up they had to remake her coffee. They said that there was a new employee working there and they were sorry. Which is totally understandable, but at the same time I think each one of us had an uncertain experience with flavor of our drinks where it was like either the coffee was too strong. The tea was too strong unflavored for mine. So the mango black tea is unsweet and normally I love unsweet tea. That's all I get, but this tea just did not do it for me.
