i love laymoon and what they do for the community, but there is one area where i think they could improve. I would really like to see house made syrups or more creative drinks. Their specials are generic and lack the oomph that i like to see at coffee shops. Making your syrups in house provides the establishment with lots of benefits and can save you money long term. I would like to see refined sugar free syrups with cane sugar and maple syrup. I am strongly opinionated against overly sweet drinks and that's what i feel like the specials mostly are. I would like to see more spices and authentic syrups incorporated into your specials. There's lots of inspiration out there when it comes to unique flavor profiling and what not. Not to mention there are tons of middle eastern flavors that would be immaculate as syrups! incorporating star anise into something would be incredible! Again, love what you guys are doing but just wanted to give you constructive criticism! It takes 5 mins to do the prep for syrup and goes a long way! read more

I just found my new favorite coffee spot! Walking in I saw the vibe & authenticity of the restaurant and loved it. You could smell the coffee as soon as you stepped in. The location is centrally located & has so many things to offer! From jewelry to accessories & of course plenty of coffee options with a few bites too. The service was good, there were a lot of people ahead of us and we didn't really wait that long! There was also plenty of space for sitting for both small or larger parties. I tried the date iced latte & the baklava iced coffee. We were able to get skim milk which I appreciated having a few milk alternatives there. The caramel date iced coffee was on the sweeter side & was a unique coffee that I think is worth trying! The baklava iced coffee was also sweet but slightly less than the Date, which was a nice middle ground. It also had a crunch in there maybe pistachio/nuts? Paid $9 for each of the 20oz lattes which for the size and amount- I think is very fairly priced. I also heard the chai is a must try here so that will be my next purchase next time! read more

Such a beautiful cafe with a unique middle Eastern feel! We came on a Sunday and it was so busy but I was impressed how quickly and efficiently the staff worked to get everyone's orders out. The service was great! My friend got the salted Carmel date latte which I tasted and it was really good. I got the strawberry acai refresher which is way better than Starbucks. We shared a chocolate pistachio croissant and it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly flakey and just enough chocolate. Came here at 10pm and it was poppin! If you need a late night hang out or study this is the perfect place. It was plenty of seating inside and I love the decor. They have carpets on the ceilings and booths to sit in, perfect for photo op. Feels like I transported into the Aladdin movie. They sell jewelry and other merchandise leading up to the register. I got the caprese avocado toast. It was $12 but the portion was generous. I didn't expect for it to be that big. Also got the upside down strawberry matcha. The matcha puree is made in house. I've had Laymoon Cafe on my list for a while and finally made my way in May. I arrived early, around 8:00 am and was able to find parking right in front. The staff greeted me as soon as I entered. Wow, the interior is stunning! The details are incredible. I love the mix of modern and traditional. The staff was great in helping me decide what to order. I ordered the following: Baklava latte $8 Spiced zaatar avo toast $15 Baklava $6 Everything was delicious! Though the tiramisu latte is their most popular, they use house-made syrup for the baklava latte and that's music to my ears. It wasn't too sweet either. The spiced zaatar avo toast comes with zaatar, feta, lemon, olive oil, and pomegranate seeds. The flavor was nice and light. I would have liked more avocado, especially for the $15 price tag. This is one of my favorite cafes near ASU. The cafe itself is so beautiful I love the decor. Plus the coffee and matcha are amazing, my favs are the cardamom rose latte and caramelized fig matcha. Only con would be that the place gets very busy during the week because it's so good, and it's slightly more expensive then your average coffee place due to the higher quality. read more

Laymoon has been on my list since its grand opening, and I've been waiting for the right time to give it a visit! When you step in, you see a community of people seated all around you. There are study groups, young and older couples, families, individuals working, etc. it feels very coworking-friendly, which is super ideal to me! Gorgeous interior and furniture with middle eastern accents. You walk through some boutique and local merchandise as you find the counter to order. I ordered myself a mango guava matcha. The matcha color was PERRRRRFECT and at first taste, you can tell it was going to be a good one. Once stirred, I got all the flavors, and it was actually heaven, you get mango guava summer goodness, and flavorful matcha to balance. I ordered the baklava latte as they make the syrup in house (I tried my friend's salted caramel date and that was very creamy and rich). I also got the pistachio chocolate croissant bc I saw so many people with it at their table- the filling was stuffed with chocolate. They were quite expensive (my small drink and pasty were $17). Finding non metered or free parking was impossible; although someone mentioned they do validate for a garage (not sure which one). Which, for me is fabulous. I went for iced vanilla, honey and cinnamon. Which was delicious. My husband ordered the salted caramel. When his name was called the drink was pink. He looked at the label. It's his name. He looked around, he didn't just grab someone else's drink. So, he says to the barista, I think this incorrect. Yay finally got to try out Laymoon! I love how their name is a play on words: laymoon means lemon in Arabic and I appreciate the nod to the moon, a symbol of Islam. Def wanted to come here earlier, during their grand opening, but never made it out to Tempe. I came from Friday prayers at the masjid next door, so I was already parked in the garage and didn't have to worry about that aspect. There was only two pairs ahead of me in line when I visited in the afternoon. The barista taking my order was friendly and efficient as I ordered a mango passion fruit refresher and their laymoon & mint lemonade. I checked out their pastry case and they didn't have too much left since it was already afternoon, but they had a few options to choose from. I got their chocolate croissant, which I've tried from JL Patisserie, and I know it's good. They asked if I wanted it heated up, and I said yes please. I entered my phone number at the register so I could join their rewards program. Prices are on the higher side ($8 for the croissant, $6.50 for 16oz drinks) just as an fyi. The cafe itself is spacious and beautiful. I've seen lots of photos so I already knew what it looked like. It was pretty busy too; lots of folks hanging out, Muslim and not. They have lots of stuff on sale and a bunch of free stickers, so I grabbed some. My drinks and croissant took a few minutes to be ready and I grabbed some lids at the counter. I really like their cups: recyclable and they're rounded at the bottom so they feel nice in your hands. They have a good amount of seating outside and a decent sized patio, which would be lovely during mild weather. I loved my warmed chocolate croissant, just what I wanted. Unique coffee shop with a calming atmosphere. I do recommend checking out this shop outside of the school year. I came here with friends during one of Tempe's festivals. It was crowded, and the line was about a 15 minute wait. And there was another 10 minute wait for our food and drinks. So I don't recommend coming here super hungry. People weren't hogging seats, so we didn't have to search for too long to get seats. The pastries were delicious and the coffee yummy. Chefs kiss all around. But the presentation could have been better. Some of our pastries were packed to go and others were on pretty plates, even though we said we were going to eat there. It was messy to eat my pastry on a paper bag. It would have been better to eat it off a plate. It would have made the experience better, and I think it would have been more cost effective for the owners. The decor was lovely. It reminded me of the cafes in Jordan. I was fortunate that the two times I went to Laymoon Cafe I didn't have to wait in line at all. I was told it was because it was "spring break" though my two visits were a couple weeks apart. I'm from Houston, one of the top most diverse large cities in the country - I love this concept and appreciate the opportunity to interact with the diverse staff and indulge in such diverse cuisine. I've tried the Sim Sim Latte and Baklava Latte - both of which didn't have as strong of flavor as I had hoped for. I also tried the honeycomb, GF banana chai muffin, and zaatar bagel - all of which I thoroughly enjoyed and had a seasoning/spice level I was hoping for. The staff is patient and friendly and happy to answer questions. The decor and ambiance feels like you're not in Phoenix and I love that another culture/heritage is celebrated here. read more

I don't really love going to the downtown Tempe area as it's pretty busy and always construction, but I would say it's worth it to try this spot! So many good sounding drink options, but I decided to get a chai latte with fig syrup and it was really good! We also tried a few food items, like the bubble bread with cream cheese, I guess it's one of their more cultural specialty foods. To me it tasted like a pretzel with cream cheese. I really don't see what the hype is all about. Ambiance is cool, but I found it very crowded and somewhat overpriced. Parking is also very difficult near the cafe. Additionally, there's a side door entrance/exit that is locked. Someone should put a sign on both the outside and inside that says not an exit. I was there for an hour and must have seen over 30 people try to exit or enter via the locked door. Also, I saw tables that were reserved with just one person at them. Mind you- these are large round booth tables that could seat 6 people. Not sure what their reservation policy is- but I found it annoying to see that. read more

So beautiful! Decor is very thoughtful and really showcases the beauty of Laymoon's culture. The high arches, rugs on the ceiling, and mirrors are SO elegant. Their drinks are also excellent. I prefer a smaller size matcha here in order to get the matcha/flavor ratio right. The caramelized fig matcha is EXCELLENT and very unique. One thing I appreciate about Laymoon is that the syrups are flavorful without being overpowering- I have found that in many specialty matcha lattes, two flavors cannot coexist. I have not had this experience at Laymoon. Their tiramisu latte (not pictured) is also delicious. I personally haven't tried the refreshers, but my friend and partner both liked theirs. A great place to study with plenty of outlets- sometimes there are busy hours with lots of foot traffic. During my first visit (around their opening), the line was about 20 minutes long. However, don't let this discourage you! My drink only took 5 minutes to come out. Staff are friendly and efficient. I especially love their lime cooler and the mint mojito latte which reminds me a lot of the one you can get at Philz Coffee (Laymoon's is better). I was really excited to go to Laymoon Cafe. It's fun to try new places and the reviews seemed positive. It has been a while since I've been on the ASU campus and with Ice protests and so much in the news I wondered what the tone on campus would be like. There was a significant police presence, gathered protesters in areas on campus and security guards outside the cafe, but other than that it was quite chill with the bustling crowd at the caffe. People were seated at the outside tables, with some groups milling around outside, a line inside and most tables inside full. Being a new place, I expected a brisk crowd but they had a staff person taking orders in line and helping to direct people where to go and wait for their orders. I love that there are outside tables, and a significant number of tables inside along with a wall of banquets in alcoves along one side that looked so cozy. So often coffee places have limited number of tables and seating options. Laymoon Cafe is larger and inviting, the cute merchandise displayed in the line waiting area is cute and whimsical. I ordered my typical drink, hot chocolate with almond milk and dr used to indulge with a Baklava , we also ordered a a Dubai Chocolate Frap with espresso shot that was good. I liked my hot chocolate, it was creamy rich sweet but not too sweet and the baklava' was delicious and gooey with a crispy chewy texture, it was more of a baklava tart style rather than the typical multilayered version. 1st Elite Review coming through!! Well, well, well!!!! What have we here?! Thanks to my coworker and the gram, we found this local business and had to check it out. Yesterday (1.17.2026) was their Grand Opening Day and our visit today was probably no different than the craziness yesterday. The line was deep, like out the door deep. If you have a buddy with you then it won't seem so daunting. We must have been in line for at least 20-25 minutes. When we finally got to the counter to order, they were out of a lot of menu items (see menu pics). They ran out of everything that was blacked out. We ordered 2 of the toasts, but since they ran out of bread, they offered to put them on bagels. Bread is bread, so aiiiiiight!! What we ordered: *LG. Golden Cloud Matcha $9 *LG. Upside Down Strawberry Matcha $9 *Labne & Honey Toast $12 *Strawberry Banana Toast $12 *Warbat (warmed) $8 We liked our drinks. I especially liked my Golden Cloud Matcha. It basically tastes like caramel with a creamy foam on top. Yum! The toasts were delicious, but I think they are a little overpriced for what they are. My friend wasn't sure about her drink at first, but once she mixed it, she was all in. I had high hopes for the Warbat. The cashier asked if I wanted it warmed. I said yes, but when I got it, it wasn't. I would have liked to try it warmed because I wanted the cheese in it to be melted. This warrants a 2nd visit for sure. It's baklava with cheese in it, so I must try it again!! The decor in here is amazing! The brother and sister owners really outdid themselves. It's like Alladin came to life, especially with the carpets adorned all over the ceilings. They offer merchandise for purchase, and there are free stickers, too. Aaaand... the thing that wowed me the most was... O M G!!! They have a bidet in the restrooms!!! Say whaaaaat?!?! LOL!!! I couldn't believe my eyes!!! First, I have to admit I am very biased about this cafe, as I've tried them at pop-ups before opening a brick and mortar! :) I stopped in on Friday morning to get some work done, and I was met with a 15 min wait inside (not a problem - it's totally worth it). Staff was very patient with each and every customer and took time to explain the menu to anyone who asked - including me! The staff also made every drink with care. I decided to hang out in the extended room near the back of the cafe. The multi-use spot was perfect for gatherings large or small with electric plugs everywhere. The ambiance is like you were transported out of Tempe to the Middle East! No detail was left out of the construction and decoration of Laymoon. I loved the artwork and how intentional it was for the space. Parking was stressful with all of the construction, but thankfully we got a street parking and paid with the Park Mobile app after circling for 10 minutes. We waited in line for about 45 minutes to order, and by the time we got to the front, all of the special drinks and bakery items were gone. The only thing I was able to secure was a slice of baklava. *whew* I didn't feel like coffee that day, so I went for a lime refresher, which worked really well with the baklava. My friend ordered a coffee with cinnamon. While we were waiting in line, we were entertained by the jewelry and their merch items, but we didn't get any. I would like to go back soon when it's not as packed, and when all of the menu items are available. Seems not fair to give it a 5-star when I couldn't experience its full potential. read more

This coffee shop is new and owned by a brother-sister duo, who showcase their Palestinian and Syrian heritage throughout the shop. The flavors of the different drinks reflect their heritage as well as the gorgeous interior. They also have many pastries which are sourced through local businesses as well. As for our drinks, the matchas are definitely their best drinks! The lattes are good but if you are someone who likes their coffee sweet, I would recommend adding an extra pump of syrup. They also have classic syrup available at the counter where the lids and napkins are. The zaatar bagel was a 10/10 and you can get it with labneh or cream cheese. I enjoyed it both ways! Their baklava is to die for and I can't wait to try more items. The lack of parking is the only challenge with coming here. The coffee shop is located directly next to the ASU Tempe campus and so there's limited street parking and one paid lot around the corner. Other than that, I would highly recommend. read more
