Honestly some of the best coffee in the city. Laymoon manages to take already creative flavors to the next level. I would 100% recommend the banana date matcha and the zaatar bagel with labneh. The staff is so sweet and helpful, and even though they are always packed, they get the food and drinks out to you quick. The ambiance inside is just out of this world, so much seating, natural light but still so cozy and warm. Came here at 10pm and it was poppin! If you need a late night hang out or study this is the perfect place. It was plenty of seating inside and I love the decor. They have carpets on the ceilings and booths to sit in, perfect for photo op. Feels like I transported into the Aladdin movie. They sell jewelry and other merchandise leading up to the register. I got the caprese avocado toast. It was $12 but the portion was generous. I didn't expect for it to be that big. Also got the upside down strawberry matcha. The matcha puree is made in house. The matcha is nice and good balance of bitterness which I love. I don't like it when places sell matcha latte and you can't taste any matcha at all. So this place definitely nailed it. Great pastries and such an authentic Middle East atmosphere! The space is huge, the decor is adorable, and it really feels like a fun place to sit and enjoy a treat. The baklava is very tasty! The energy drink has Red Bull in it btw but delicious. The only downside is that it's very popular, so it gets crowded and parking can be a challenge. Unless you get lucky like I did! I've had Laymoon Cafe on my list for a while and finally made my way in May. I arrived early, around 8:00 am and was able to find parking right in front. The staff greeted me as soon as I entered. Wow, the interior is stunning! The details are incredible. I love the mix of modern and traditional. The staff was great in helping me decide what to order. I ordered the following: Baklava latte $8 Spiced zaatar avo toast $15 Baklava $6 Everything was delicious! Though the tiramisu latte is their most popular, they use house-made syrup for the baklava latte and that's music to my ears. It wasn't too sweet either. The spiced zaatar avo toast comes with zaatar, feta, lemon, olive oil, and pomegranate seeds. The flavor was nice and light. I would have liked more avocado, especially for the $15 price tag. This cafe is so cute! There were so many tables that even though it was pretty busy when we went, we found a table no problem. Service was quick and we got our drinks within 10 minutes. There are study groups, young and older couples, families, individuals working, etc. it feels very coworking-friendly, which is super ideal to me! Yay finally got to try out Laymoon! I love how their name is a play on words: laymoon means lemon in Arabic and I appreciate the nod to the moon, a symbol of Islam. Def wanted to come here earlier, during their grand opening, but never made it out to Tempe. I came from Friday prayers at the masjid next door, so I was already parked in the garage and didn't have to worry about that aspect. There was only two pairs ahead of me in line when I visited in the afternoon. The barista taking my order was friendly and efficient as I ordered a mango passion fruit refresher and their laymoon & mint lemonade. I checked out their pastry case and they didn't have too much left since it was already afternoon, but they had a few options to choose from. I got their chocolate croissant, which I've tried from JL Patisserie, and I know it's good. They asked if I wanted it heated up, and I said yes please. I entered my phone number at the register so I could join their rewards program. Prices are on the higher side ($8 for the croissant, $6.50 for 16oz drinks) just as an fyi. The cafe itself is spacious and beautiful. I've seen lots of photos so I already knew what it looked like. It was pretty busy too; lots of folks hanging out, Muslim and not. They have lots of stuff on sale and a bunch of free stickers, so I grabbed some. My drinks and croissant took a few minutes to be ready and I grabbed some lids at the counter. I really like their cups: recyclable and they're rounded at the bottom so they feel nice in your hands. They have a good amount of seating outside and a decent sized patio, which would be lovely during mild weather. I loved my warmed chocolate croissant, just what I wanted. So I don't recommend coming here super hungry. People weren't hogging seats, so we didn't have to search for too long to get seats. The pastries were delicious and the coffee yummy. Chefs kiss all around. But the presentation could have been better. Some of our pastries were packed to go and others were on pretty plates, even though we said we were going to eat there. It was messy to eat my pastry on a paper bag. It would have been better to eat it off a plate. It would have made the experience better, and I think it would have been more cost effective for the owners. The decor was lovely. It reminded me of the cafes in Jordan. The carpets on the ceiling, the arched nooks for group seating, it all resemble Arabic decor. So beautiful! Absolutely love this place! Been here twice and have enjoyed it both times. It's a Palestinian owned business in Tempe and has a great variety of food and drinks. I especially love their lime cooler and the mint mojito latte which reminds me a lot of the one you can get at Philz Coffee (Laymoon's is better). The staff is always so friendly, even when the place is super packed and busy. Haven't had a chance to sit down here since it's very popular, but the interior design and vibe is very beautiful. I'm from Houston, one of the top most diverse large cities in the country - I love this concept and appreciate the opportunity to interact with the diverse staff and indulge in such diverse cuisine. I've tried the Sim Sim Latte and Baklava Latte - both of which didn't have as strong of flavor as I had hoped for. I also tried the honeycomb, GF banana chai muffin, and zaatar bagel - all of which I thoroughly enjoyed and had a seasoning/spice level I was hoping for. I love the Tiramisu and Spanish lattes myself and have even had to DoorDash them when I can't make it in person. I really don't see what the hype is all about. Ambiance is cool, but I found it very crowded and somewhat overpriced. Parking is also very difficult near the cafe. Additionally, there's a side door entrance/exit that is locked. Someone should put a sign on both the outside and inside that says not an exit. I was there for an hour and must have seen over 30 people try to exit or enter via the locked door. Also, I saw tables that were reserved with just one person at them. We also tried a few food items, like the bubble bread with cream cheese, I guess it's one of their more cultural specialty foods. To me it tasted like a pretzel with cream cheese. So beautiful! Decor is very thoughtful and really showcases the beauty of Laymoon's culture. The high arches, rugs on the ceiling, and mirrors are SO elegant. Their drinks are also excellent. I prefer a smaller size matcha here in order to get the matcha/flavor ratio right. The caramelized fig matcha is EXCELLENT and very unique. One thing I appreciate about Laymoon is that the syrups are flavorful without being overpowering- I have found that in many specialty matcha lattes, two flavors cannot coexist. I have not had this experience at Laymoon. Their tiramisu latte (not pictured) is also delicious. I personally haven't tried the refreshers, but my friend and partner both liked theirs. A great place to study with plenty of outlets- sometimes there are busy hours with lots of foot traffic. During my first visit (around their opening), the line was about 20 minutes long. However, don't let this discourage you! My drink only took 5 minutes to come out. Staff are friendly and efficient. I have been here twice and both times it was very crowded. The coffee is very very good and all of the food seems like it is good as well (although i have never tried one myself). I wish they had more outlets because it is such a big study spot (or even some extension cords). I also noticed that the last few times we have been there, the baristas have not been super friendly. We waited in line for about 45 minutes to order, and by the time we got to the front, all of the special drinks and bakery items were gone. The only thing I was able to secure was a slice of baklava. *whew* I didn't feel like coffee that day, so I went for a lime refresher, which worked really well with the baklava. My friend ordered a coffee with cinnamon. While we were waiting in line, we were entertained by the jewelry and their merch items, but we didn't get any. This coffee shop is new and owned by a brother-sister duo, who showcase their Palestinian and Syrian heritage throughout the shop. The flavors of the different drinks reflect their heritage as well as the gorgeous interior. They also have many pastries which are sourced through local businesses as well. As for our drinks, the matchas are definitely their best drinks! The lattes are good but if you are someone who likes their coffee sweet, I would recommend adding an extra pump of syrup. They also have classic syrup available at the counter where the lids and napkins are. The zaatar bagel was a 10/10 and you can get it with labneh or cream cheese. I enjoyed it both ways! Their baklava is to die for and I can't wait to try more items. The lack of parking is the only challenge with coming here. I was really excited to go to Laymoon Cafe. It's fun to try new places and the reviews seemed positive. It has been a while since I've been on the ASU campus and with Ice protests and so much in the news I wondered what the tone on campus would be like. There was a significant police presence, gathered protesters in areas on campus and security guards outside the cafe, but other than that it was quite chill with the bustling crowd at the caffe. People were seated at the outside tables, with some groups milling around outside, a line inside and most tables inside full. Being a new place, I expected a brisk crowd but they had a staff person taking orders in line and helping to direct people where to go and wait for their orders. I love that there are outside tables, and a significant number of tables inside along with a wall of banquets in alcoves along one side that looked so cozy. So often coffee places have limited number of tables and seating options. Laymoon Cafe is larger and inviting, the cute merchandise displayed in the line waiting area is cute and whimsical. I ordered my typical drink, hot chocolate with almond milk and dr used to indulge with a Baklava , we also ordered a a Dubai Chocolate Frap with espresso shot that was good. I liked my hot chocolate, it was creamy rich sweet but not too sweet and the baklava' was delicious and gooey with a crispy chewy texture, it was more of a baklava tart style rather than the typical multilayered version. When we finally got to the counter to order, they were out of a lot of menu items (see menu pics). They ran out of everything that was blacked out. First, I have to admit I am very biased about this cafe, as I've tried them at pop-ups before opening a brick and mortar! :) I stopped in on Friday morning to get some work done, and I was met with a 15 min wait inside (not a problem - it's totally worth it). Staff was very patient with each and every customer and took time to explain the menu to anyone who asked - including me! The staff also made every drink with care. I decided to hang out in the extended room near the back of the cafe. The multi-use spot was perfect for gatherings large or small with electric plugs everywhere. The ambiance is like you were transported out of Tempe to the Middle East! No detail was left out of the construction and decoration of Laymoon. I loved the artwork and how intentional it was for the space. Genuinely such an amazing space to have added in the Tempe community. The location is prime with ample parking directly across the street via ASU paid parking. The interior truly makes you feel like you've traveled and landed yourself in an exquisite cafe in the Middle East. You can tell the amount of love and detail that went into curating this space and its menu. I'm excited to visit again when the savory menu is available! Worth the hype! Waited in line for a bit on a Sunday afternoon but hanging out with a friend so it wasn't too bad. We ordered the tiramisu latte, baklava latte, the fig matcha, a piece of baklava, and a pistachio cookie. The drinks were well-made with incredible flavors and good coffee balance. The baklava was decent but the pistachio cookie was an easy 10/10. I preferred the tiramisu latte over the baklava latte and am not normally a matcha girl, but found the fig matcha to be delicious as well! A new Palestinian-Syrian gem in Downtown Tempe, right next to the Tempe Mosque, lovingly owned by siblings Noor and Akram. It's got coffee, tea and delicious Middle Eastern baked goods and savory options (toast, bagel, etc.) It also has jewelry, notecards and other nicely curated merch for sale. The decor is striking, with gorgeous details everywhere. If you're into aesthetics, you'll love it there. I had a hot mint tea and tried both the baklava and a pistachio-chocolate croissant. Be warned that Middle-Eastern pastries and drinks can be quite sweet (but they truly taste so good.) Music playing was a mix of Arabic music, international music and American tunes. The sound level was perfect - not too loud. Although it was very crowded when I went, it wasn't noisy. I think the rugs absorb some of the noise, which is nice. This is a very spacious shop, with plenty of seating for customers. It would be a nice place to work from. I sat in the back room and noted there were several power outlets available. They have beautiful alcoves in the main room - right now they are limited to parties of 3+, but I suspect once the crowds die down a bit, they may be accessible for all. Also, there is outdoor seating available. In my personal experience, Middle Eastern hospitality has always been generous and kind, and this place did not disappoint. Plenty of street parking outside (metered). The only few downsides - right now the lines are really long. I love seeing the community support, but if you're looking for a quick in-and-out, maybe wait until the opening phase is over. There is only one cashier, so in addition to the line being long, it wasn't moving very fast (didn't mind, I was not in a rush). Also, you get what you pay for - this is a gorgeous cafe with high-quality food, so depending on your budget you may or may not find it a bit spendy. For a standard mint tea (tea bag), a specialty croissant (which arguably was not small), a (generous) slice of baklava and a matcha latte of sorts (I don't remember exactly what my friend had), you're looking at over $30 without tip. Hands my favorite cafe! From the coffee beverages to the vibe! I was visiting the area for work, fortunate to find this place and ended up visiting it everyday I was there. I would try a different drink everyday, all equally fabulous. I even planned my days after my first visit to spend an hour or so there to work because it was so pleasant. They sell gifts and jewelry, which I ended up buying two pairs of earring, they are beautiful, love them! read more

Laymoon is a gorgeous cafe that plays with color and texture throughout the space, from mauve tile backsplash and arched white stone to beautifully draped textile on the ceilings. The best part is the drinks are actually delicious and service is friendly! I went with the caramelized fig matcha and was happy with the quality and amount of matcha in the drink -- especially since the matcha was hand whisked to order. The fig flavor was prominent without overpowering the matcha or being too sweet. The cardamom rose latte was also subtly sweet and fragrant. Laymoon is actually quite large for a coffee shop, with nice little nooks for groups, so while there might be a line, it can definitely handle the traffic. They've also become more efficient than others may have experienced when they first opened -- we arrived around 11am on a Sunday and got our drinks within 20 minutes despite the line reaching the door. We also found free Sunday parking, so it was a great experience overall :) read more
