Initially, I wasn't too happy with their service. We had a serious rat problem and hired Premier to rodent proof the house. Unfortunately the rats kept coming back again and again. Since the service was so expensive, I was seriously disappointed in those results. That said, the initial rodent proofing price included a 1 year guarantee. Premier came back twice to deal with our recurring problem at no additional charge. Each time they were able to identify new ways in which the little monsters were getting into the house and blocked off the access ways. The last time they came out, in addition to the rodent proofing, they suggested I add ornamental rocks to my garden beds as the rats had been digging under the foundation in a particular area. I followed their advice. It's been nearly a year and we have had no further rat incidents to date (crossing my fingers that this remains the case). In all visits, the technician was thoroughly professional and polite. And it was easy to schedule their return visits. We had a really nice experience dealing with Permier Rodent and Ken in particular. He came out within a couple of days when we called them about some rodent activity in our house and did a thorough inspection of the house, attic and even climbed up on the roof to have a look. At the end he gave us a quote to seal off all potential entry points and setup traps, all which came with a one year warranty. The quote he gave us was a bit on the higher side compared to others we called over for estimates, but the details and problem areas Ken showed us were no where close to what others told us. And we could see these problems ourselves as well and had noticed these before we called Ken. We went ahead with them and had the work finished and are happy with the service they provided. Katie an owner and manager contacted me after I made this review. She wanted to clarify some of the issues that I brought up. One of them being that Premier is two different companies - one that specializes in rodent, etc. proofing - which I used. When they sprayed for ants it was a separate division. I should point out that we haven't had an ant issue since they sprayed (over 2 years ago). Here are her words from her email to me: "We have 2 separate companies {2 divisions, each one having a specialty} Premier Rodent Proofing specializing in Rodent control and Performance Pest Management specializing in Pest Control {Ants, Fleas, Spiders, etc.} You hired Premier Rodent Proofing in December of 2009 to resolve a Rodent Issue. Our services have a 1 year warranty; it isn't a yearly maintenance contract like Performance Pest Management offers." Katie also apologized about the rude employee and for the cancellation mix-up. She also wrote that they left a quote for the additional work and followed up with me. I do not recall it this way but it is certainly possible they left a quote and it blew away in the wind. Overall I'd like to say that the folks at both divisions all seem like very nice people - it is a small family run business. I don't consider this a bad review - I consider it an average (a-ok) review. I think anyone could easily be happy with their services and should not use my review as a reason not to try them - this is NOT a negative review. Thank God for Premier Rodent! Premier was the fourth professional we contacted for critters in our attic. Turns out that we had squirrels, and squirrels are harder to get rid of. Ken had no problem and put a screen on the day he came to do the initial inspection. Peace in our home once again! A week later Ken sealed up all the places that could allow any critters in. He has traps in the attic, just in case there is something left there. But we have not heard a thing. He is returning to check the traps, I am confident he will deal with any stragglers issues but I think we are in the clear now. I am so grateful for people who know their work. Also Premier was the only one we found that was licensed by the Structural Pest Control Board https://www.pestboard.ca.gov as required. https://www.pestboard.ca.gov/about/whatis.shtml "Structural pest control is the control of household pests (including but not limited to rodents, vermin and insects) and wood-destroying pests and organisms or such other pests which may invade households or structures, including railroad cars, ships, docks, trucks, airplanes, or the contents thereof. The practice of structural pest control includes the engaging in, offering to engage in, advertising for, soliciting, or the performance of any of the following: identification of infestations or infections; the making of an inspection for the purpose of identifying or attempting to identify infestations or infections of household or other structures by such pests or organisms; the making of inspection reports; recommendations, estimates, and bids, whether oral or written, with respect to such infestation or infections; and the making of contracts, or the submitting of bids for, or the performance of any work including the making of structural repairs or replacements, or the use of pesticides, insecticides, rodenticides, fumigants, or allied chemicals or substances, or mechanical devices for the purpose of eliminating, exterminating, controlling or preventing infestations or infections of such pests, or organisms." Others claimed to be licensed, but that turned out to be a business license, and said that they did not need a license from the Pest Control Board. Seems clear from the above that anyone in rodent exclusion work should be. They also provided us a certificate of liability insurance for the business. Others claimed to be "bonded" but would not provide any proof. They did charge us $175 for the inspection, but they deducted that from the final cost of $1295. Another vendor wanted to charge us over $7700! They gave us a quote which included removing and replacing "all" insulation, sanitation and sealing from the inside of roof. But when questioned they would only do that for the easily accessible parts of the attic, which is less than half the attic, and not the area where the squirrels were actually spending time. We made the mistake of hiring another company to address a rodent issue. The first company did not begin to resolve the issue after 2 months of service. Luckily, after researching other companies, we hired Premier Rodent Proofing. Ken Watkins has done an outstanding job addressing our problem. He found multiple places on our roof where rodents were both coming in and going out. He screened and epoxyed the areas. He set traps. He rechecked the roof and found another entry was made and secured it, too. He has been more persistent than the rodents. We had rats, many rats, for over a month. When the weather got cold, the rats got into the attic through many of the roof flash points (near any pipes that stick out of your roof). We had 2 companies out to the house and another phone consult. All said you will just have to live with the problem, set some bait and trap them. We tried unsuccessfully to trap them for weeks. We caught 4, but once you had one, they follow the scent. Our problem was compounded because we live next to an open space and the was a history of rats in the bank owned home we purchased. We are very fortunate to have a beautiful home in Danville, but the daily nighttime scratching was unnerving. Finally, Premier answered the problem. And it was perfectly straightforward. Fix the gaps in the roof flashing and the rats will stop coming in. We were skeptical because of the previous experiences and the price was difficult to absorb because of so many move in costs. I do not remember the gentleman who came over, but he was great. He climbed up on the 2 story terra cotta tiled roof for the inspection, identified 5-6 flash points, took some photos with his iPhone and showed us the problem. The first visit took about an hour. My wife likes it when I'm home to meet with any contractors, but this is a family company and they were very professional and personable, so very safe in my estimation. The same gentleman came back on a very cold and frosty morning a few days later and repaired all of the flash points with spray foam and a wire mesh, it took 2-3 hours. He also set a number of traps in two attic spots (in case any were left in the house). We never heard another sound from that night forward and no more rats in the traps. Cost was around $1000. It was well worth it in hindsight as this is roof repair, dangerous and warrantied work for 6 months. Highly recommended. read more

I called Premier Rodent Proofing, and the first thing I was really impressed with was how well the woman that answered the phone listened to my concern. Not once (as is very common today) did she interrupt me - she let me talk. And, I complimented her on her listening skill before we hung up. She said they charged $95 for assessment, and it would be applied towards the project cost. Knowing they have to take the time to drive to my home, investigate the cause and identify the proper solution, and then drive back, I felt this was more than fair. One shouldn't expect to get something for nothing. The date and time for the appointment came, the employee was on time, courteous, knowledgeable and offered a fair price. Not leaning towards my favor, but based on the amount of time required, it was certainly fair. He took pictures of his work,and showed them to me before he left. Terrific. The only company that ever took our rat and mice problem seriously. Within the first month, the noise was almost eliminated. A number of months later, and we maybe get a mouse in the attic every few months and that's only when other repair work has disturbed the preventive measures Premier Rodent set up previously. This review is long overdue. Ken and Guillermo ("Mo") worked hard to help evict a family of squirrels that had made a home between the roof and house. For anyone who has not dealt with squirrels, they can be especially tricky. They are great climbers! The task was complicated because the area was so hard to access -- it was high up and a very skinny opening. Ken and Mo respected our wishes not to kill the squirrels (they too preferred to lure them away rather than hurt them) tried different ways to coax the squirrels out using noise, taping, ultrasonic or creating trap doors to prevent them from being able to return to the area but these squirrels, who deftly climb up the side of the house like Spiderman, kept returning. It was maddening but I did not want to hurt them. They weren't getting into the house but the morning chatter of them over the ceiling was a bother. We were in contact and visited by Ken and Mo every few days as we tried to assess if the squirrels had left and whether the opening could then be sealed. Based on some quiet days, I thought the squirrels had had their babies and left, so I quickly arranged for Ken to close up the opening. Within 12 hours of doing so, I regretted it as there was a huge increase of scratching and adult squirrels appeared outside -- oh my goodness, we can closed their babies in!! Ken came back as quickly as he could (a couple days because the furious scratching began on Friday night/Sat morning when all bad things occur!) to reopen the hole. He tried once again to devise a way to encourage the family out. After a couple more days of silence, the opening was sealed again and that area was finally rid of the squirrels. Few. i had a great experience with this company which we used to trap and remove a visiting raccoon which was trying to setup a new home under our deck. They were priced competitively and came out and placed the traps immediately. Apparently they don't routinely provide weekend service to remove trapped animals but they were able to come out and pickup one of the critters we caught on a saturday after making a few calls. i was under the false impression that humanely trapping an animal meant that they're caught and released somewhere in the "wild" after the catch. according to the technician they have to go kill the animal after the catch (not sure how or where). this is definitely disappointing; i would prefer to find a more humane approach next time. read more

#1 they answer the phone and are responsive. Very professional service. They came out to assess the situation and he showed me where the issues were. He was able to credit the assessment fee towards the service. The service was great as he came out and fixed the issues (emailed me pictures). He advised me on what to do and what he'll come back out to do. He came back out like he said in a week. Caught one but the lil buggers knawed someplace else so he sealed that one. He'll come back out again. Than field mice came as the prior was roof rats. He fixed that issue and advised me on what to do. He'll check back again. Rats are smart so we just keep working on the issue till its done. I'm just glad he knew where to look and what to do. They're experienced in my area (San Ramon) so they know the trouble spots. There's no way I could go up on the roof to figure out the rat spots nor the one's for the field mice. So I'm grateful they know what they are doing. And the work has a 1 yr warranty. read more

I had a fantastic experience using Premier. I live in a 4-unit townhouse in Mountain View. Premier was very helpful in scheduling the initial inspection. They were also prompt in coming back for the needed repairs. Premier spent a lot of time inspecting the entire building, finding more than a dozen access holes the rats had made. They repaired all of them, set traps in six separate attic spaces and performed several follow-up trap inspections. Professional, effective and extremely pleasant to do business with. I hired this company to do rodent proofing on our house a few months ago. I initially thought their quote was very high but after they provided me with more input regarding the quality of the exclusion work they do, I decided to go forward with them. Everyone I worked with at Premier Rodent was polite and professional. I believe the exclusion work was successful as we've had no more rodent activity, although it's only been a few months. The reason I'm only giving them three stars has to do with additional work I requested. We had a bird's nest under the eaves of our house and the bird activity was making quite a mess. It was on the second story so I needed some help removing it. I asked this company to provide a quote for the removal and clean up. To my shock and surprise, their quote was a whopping $795!! I requested that they revise the quote to only include removal of the nest and they reduced it to $595 - still ridiculously high in my opinion. I ended up having a guy who was trapping a skunk on our property remove it. He did the removal and clean up and didn't charge us one penny. We tipped him $25. Bottom line, after seeing their quote for bird's nest removal, I'm 100% sure I payed way too much for their rodent services. Be careful! read more
