I did not use the service. The 5 stars are for consultation. There is a bad smell coming out of the air vent on the first floor ceiling. We couldn't see through the vent. Bay Area Trapping Services is the closest so we decided to give it a try. I wasn't expecting someone to pick up the phone at 9pm. Just trying to leave a message for a call back next day. The owner Dave picked up the phone. He's patient with me while I was trying to explain the situation. He asked about the location of the smell and suggested trying out several ways to determine where the smell is coming from. He determined it's a small "animal" given the level of smell. It's difficult to pinpoint the exact location in the subfloor unless you rip off the sheet rock which we don't want to do. He recommended putting baking soda near the area to reduce the odor and let the dead "animal" decompose. I know it sounds gross but that's the only option. We were on the phone for 30 minutes. The other yelp businesses charge for inspection. Thanks for being a honest business owner and the professional opinions! Not really what I was expecting to hear but helpful advice from the expert. Will definitely use Dave again for any future problems. (I hope not. Don't really want to deal with pest problems at all!) read more

David was awesome! I called him about squeaking noises coming from our wall, he came that day and set a humane trap and we had a squirrel in it by the next night. When we saw the squirrel in the trap, I texted Dave but I was afraid it would be too late for him to come since it was 8 pm. He said no problem and came and collected the squirrel within a half hour. He also patched up/placed a screen over the hole in our roof where the squirrel had chewed through to get in for no additional charge. His pricing is upfront and very fair and he was thorough and super nice. The inspection was free and he only charged to place a trap and then another charge to collect and re-locate the animal, whereas others that I called charged over $200 just for the inspection! Went to the bathroom one morning, gradually woke up to a stench. I thought it was something I ate. An hour later it was still there, and was coming from the air vents. Google told me I might have a problem with dead rodents in the air ducts, so I started looking on Yelp. Gave David a call, explained the symptoms to him. He was honest and upfront about success rates (low) with these kinds of issues because the ducts were in between floors with no crawl space, but he would come by for an inspection that same evening. David did a thorough job with the inspection, along the way he gave me an education on how to identify and seal potential entry points, spot rodent tracks, and then he set some traps in the high traffic areas. Unfortunately as he expected he was not able to pinpoint the source of the stench but he did give me more useful tips on mitigating the smell. While I'm not stoked that the source of the smell will forever remain a mystery, it did go away after a few days as he advised. All in all, a good experience. We had an unpleasant surprise this spring when we uncovered our patio furniture located under a pergola in our backyard. It appeared that possums had decided to take up residence under the furniture in spite of the fact that we had spiked mats under the furniture to keep critters out. We called several pest removal companies, but David of Bay Area Trapping services seemed the friendliest and most responsive. David came out and set up two traps and caught two possums the first night. David responded immediately to my text the next morning and was there by noon to remove the possums. Because David believed we had a family of possums, he set up more traps and over the course of the next couple of weeks, caught two more possums. There was evidence that there were more possums still around, but took a break for a month because we believed the possum family had become wary of the traps. David agreed to honor the original terms of our contract and would come out and set more traps if we saw evidence of more possums. Sure enough, we saw a possum about a month later for several nights in a row. We contacted David and he was out the next morning to set more traps. We caught the possum, and again David responded immediately to my text in the morning and came out within a couple of hours to retrieve the possum. We've been very pleased with the services provided by David. He responds immediately to texts, retrieves the animals in a timely way, and treats the animals humanely.
