He looked around the outside of the house and concluded that we actually had raccoons on our roof instead. Had a couple of bird problems that finally required professional help. First, there was a small nest right above my front door, even though I had placed some DIY plastic spikes up there. The birds simply built the nest around the spikes. Would not have minded so much, except the nest started to overflow with bird poop and land on the ground right in front of the door which made entry and exit out of the house very unpleasant. Then a group of crows decide to use my roof as a bedroom, right above my driveway. For several mornings I woke up to bombs on my driveway and the cars that were parked there. I went out there one night and saw 4(!) of them asleep on my roof. That was the final straw so I found Thomas and his business here and based on the reviews gave him a call. Bottom line, Thomas and his brother Brandon were phenomenal to deal with. They placed a screen above the front door to prevent any further nesting and spikes on the section of the roof above the driveway to keep the crows away, along with power washing the driveway. From the start they were very friendly and professional, and went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied with the work all at a very fair price. When putting the spikes up, they also washed all the bird waste away from the surrounding areas on the roof so it would look clean. They had to schedule a follow up visit to finish the screen and I asked them to wash the driveway one more time. There was a small space on the roof behind the spikes they put up, where I think a single crow may have hung out. It pooped on the driveway a couple of times, but I chased it away with water and it didn't come back. I was willing to pay Thomas a little extra to wash the driveway again since it was more than the original scope of work but he said no, it would be at no cost. Well he also went ahead and placed another set of spikes in the empty spot, without me asking him and without asking for another dime. If that isn't commitment to great service then I don't know what is. They are the definition of going above and beyond. Sorry for the long read, but I was really impressed with this business. It's been almost 6 months since we utilized the rodent proofing service, so that's a good amount of time to track its effectiveness before leaving this review. We discovered a rodent problem about six months prior to reaching out to Thomas. The critters had entered our garage and we had laid traps and caught one mouse. Then one evening I heard scratching/scraping sounds in the wall between the house and garage. Since we already had bi-monthly pest control services I called them and they set up traps in the garage and attic. They returned a week later and the traps had caught mice. They placed new traps and checked them during the next bi-monthly service, and nothing was found. End of problem, or so I thought. Later I scheduled a furnace service during which the technician reported there were two dead mice in traps in the attic. At that point I decided to look for a specialized rodent proofing service. I met with 3 different companies to obtain quotes. I was by far the most impressed with Thomas in terms of his attitude, knowledge, customer service, detailed explanation of the process he followed to resolve the problem, plus his willingness and ability to make minor adjustments and tweaks to meet my needs. It transpired that of the 3 quotes Thomas was the most expensive, and not by a small amount. I worked with Thomas and he was able to adjust his price a little to something I was more comfortable with. It was still the most expensive quote of the three, but I was sufficiently impressed by Thomas and his level of customer service to move forward. The team conducted a complete attic clean up, set up traps, and set about sealing all areas of the property where the mice could get in. The aim was to make the mice start searching for food and succumb to the traps. The team visited a week later to check up, remove any caught rodents and set new traps. Thomas was willing to repeat this process until no more rodents were caught. Other services would only repeat this process once. Eventually no more rodents were caught, so at that point a full cleaning of the attic was conducted and new insulation was laid. This was a much better level of insulation than was present before (builder's standard insulation). I'm glad to report there has been no recurrence of the rodent problem, which is testament to the level of work and service provided by Thomas and the team at Elite Rodent Proofing. They provide a 3 year warranty with the service so I am confident if I do see any activity within that period Thomas will jump on it. Thomas went above and beyond by sealing up another area on the exterior of my home where bats had been choosing to hang out. I had already cleared the bats out of the area, but sealing ensured they wouldn't return. I should point out that I had a slight misunderstanding regarding the payment schedule for the rodent proofing work. This was due to what I thought I read in the estimate, versus the expectations Thomas had regarding payment terms. My recommendation here is not to assume as I did, but instead ask and clarify before the work commences. Overall I give Thomas and the team at Elite Rodent Proofing my highest recommendation. I would do some work myself and they would come back a month later or I would call a service, pay a lot of money and never see any results. Elite Rodent came by for a free inspection, thoroughly evaluated our problem and provided a solution at a flat rate. Thomas and his son removed our dishwasher, fridge and washing machine then covered any holes with high quality materials. They did the same under our kitchen sink, in the attic and proofed the garage door. They cleaned out each area of droppings and used a sterilizing spray to clean when completed. I was shopping for a company to come out and take a look at my attic, and review what needed to be done for better insulation in my home. Thomas was able to come out right away, was very professional, and personable, he even wore booties on his shoes! After speaking with him at length and sharing my concerns and dreams with him, he was able to get in my attic and take photos to show me what we were working with. My experience with Elite Rodent Proofing was exceptional on all fronts. Thomas, the owner of the company, handled our extensive Yellow Jacket problem quickly and efficiently. We reached out to his company on a Thursday and by late Friday morning the situation was resolved. The company offered quick response times, provided excellent communication throughout the service, was thorough in assessing/resolving the problem, and their pricing was competitive. I don't typically write reviews, but I've never had an experience with a service professional that was just so easy and pleasant throughout the whole process. Thomas and his company deserves a shout out. For more specific details: We had what we believed to be wasps entering through a soffit vent near the primary bedroom and getting into our home through the bathroom exhaust vent. My husband called the company and Thomas quickly organized with us an appointment to evaluate and resolve the situation. He arrived punctually, assessed the problem and provided potential resolutions and estimates depending on the type of scenario involved (whether the insects were wasps or bees). Everything was explained upfront in a honest and open manner. He then identified the insects as Yellow Jackets and provided videos of his findings - it was a wasp nest the size of a volleyball! From there on out, it was an easy extermination with 3 bottles of chemical spray and a fogger. Tom and his team were great. He was always punctual, and thoroughly explained what they would do, what they found and what they did. His price was competitive too. Tom provided a quote on Tuesday and he performed the work on the weekend at our request. We had rodent issues in our attic that we had completely reinsulated and replaced all of the heating ducts the previous year. Naturally we were disturbed that we were sharing that space, but Tom identified and closed the openings that the rats had used to enter and leave. He sealed our home from top to bottom by installing wire mesh over all openings, including roof vents, fabricating a custom crawl space door, and pouring a concrete slab in our crawl space. He cleaned and sanitized areas of rat activity, replaced some damaged insulation, and set traps. After a week we are rodent free! Thomas will do a thorough inspection of your home and document with photos the areas of concern. He was able to show me where the rats were tunneling into our crawl space which demonstrated the need for the slab. And his pricing was very reasoanble considering the extent of the work done. We had another service come several years ago an they did some minor patching. The service was much cheaper, but it didn't work, and they didn't come back as promised to check and reset traps. Lesson learned: you get what you pay for. Thomas will give you a permanent fix and help you avoid extensive damage from ongoing rat activity. Plus he's punctual and very nice.
