I just returned from two days at St. Catherine's Hospital after eating at the Premier. I am a business visitor from the West Coast to Suffolk County staying at the adjacent Hampton Inn. WIthin 30 minutes of eating at the Premier I was in the worst abdominal pain of my life. Thanks to the staff of the Hampton, who called 911 for me since I as incoherent with pain, I was taken to hospital. After much pain and the astonishing inconvenience of two business days laid up I was discharged with a diagnosis of viral enteritis - food poisoning. At the Premier. I just returned from meeting the manager. Who simply looked at me with his mouth open. Not only did they get me sick, but they did not care they got me sick. I have reported them to the Suffolk County Board of Health. They look clean and prosperous but something is amiss. read more

My wife and I went for dinner on a Sunday night around 9:30pm. The place was pretty empty. The menu is on the pricey side but it does offer more varieties. Food was good, but the service from our waitress was plain awful. Main dishes were served first then our sides, which were served on one plate and simply plunked down at the edge of the table. Then she simply left-did not ask if there is anything else she could get us or a simple "enjoy"....nothing. And this was the last time we saw her for the entire meal. She never came back and asked "how's everything"? Our sodas were never refilled. Our water glasses were empty too. The funny thing is, she was waiting on a table about 5 feet away from us but never walked over or even looked our way. We simply ceased to exist. So, we finished our meals and decided we were not going to wait for our check. We got up and walked up to the front desk. Our waitress was sitting in a corner booth talking with someone and never noticed that one of her guests actually walked away from their table. We complained to the manager (we assumed he was) and of course he said he was sorry. Another waitress heard our complaints and went and got our waitress who was still sitting in the corner booth. She came over and said "sorry". The manager asked us would we like desert, but he was not offering it to us as a way of making up for their lousy service-it comes with our meal. There was no offering or even an attempt to appease us for our troubles....nothing. And there's that word again! Nothing was what we received in service and how we were treated, or made to feel like. Stay away from this place-we've been coming here for years and it seems like the service and attentiveness from the top down has gone down the proverbial rabbit hole...so many better diners to choose from on the island! read more

While most Diners on LI are almost the same; the Premier Diner is clearly superior. Excellent atmosphere, very friendly and attentive wait staff and the food is good too. Portions are very large and my wife always takes home enough food for one or two meals the next day. Breakfasts are wonderful; the pistachio pancakes to die for. Omelets and well done home fries are always excellent. The Premier is always crowded and there is good reason. read more

As others have said, place looks good, clean, I like the lights, and the booths were comfortable. I ordered the French dip which is my fav and it was better than expected, which definitely showed in the price! Almost $16 for a sandwich and fries (which I could have done without) and the usual cole slaw and pickle (could do without them, too). I wasn't impressed. The Burger Meat was average, not cooked Medium as I ordered but rather on the well side. The price was expensive but what really turned my off was the Bun was not fresh. When I commented about it to the waitress she said they recently changed Buns and these get "soaked" quicker. The bun wasn't soaked, it was old and fell apart easily. Sign of an old bun. I don't know where to begin with this place. I walk in, and I had a bad feeling about the place immediately. We were seated at a booth, and given our menus. I've never been to a diner where the menus are GREASY to the touch. Disgusting! They served us putrid smelling beets as a starter, terrible smell! I couldn't breath for the time they were on the table, so I had to move the bowl to the table across so I couldn't smell it. The waiter we had was extremely inattentive as well, and practically ignored our table. The prices were also ridiculously high!! It was absurd!!! You would think it was a gourmet restaurant with those prices! The booth sizes were also embarrassingly small! I'm 5'6 and weigh 115 lbs, and I felt very crammed! We had to leave after 5 minutes. I'm sure the food is ok, but everything else was egregious, and I will never go there again! read more

Quality of food is five stars. I only gave it four stars as a total because it is a bit pricey. I am a firm believer of "you get what you pay for" but the cost of living is so high in this area... Some establishments could afford to lower their prices a bit. However, doesn't stop me all the time from going here when I want a good diner meal. I would probably eat here more often if the prices were a bit lower. With that said, they are in a location near Dix Hills - where residents probably make a lot more income then I do. I can definitely see both sides: higher income area, higher price. Either way, their portions are also very large. read more

The food is good, abundant but on the pricey side. Although we usually share the dinners because it's just too much for one person. So the price for the dinner is not bad if you share. Nice little diner that moves people in and out quickly during high volume. Friendly staff and good enough food. Wound up here by chance in the middle of a long drive. Pros: - They got us seated quickly even though the place was busy. - The crabcake salad included 3 large crabcakes that consisted mostly of crab. Cons: - The host (who was seating people) was rude. At one point he and I ended up facing each other in a narrow space between tables -- he was seating a party, I was heading to the register to pay. He waved me aside in a dismissive manner that I found very unfriendly. - The shrimp salad was inedible. Not sure what they did to those shrimp to give them that flavor and texture, but yuck. I've gone back in the last month or so and the renovations really spruced up the place but it seems like the prices went up as well. My wife and I stopped in for lunch each of us having a sandwich from the lunch menu and the bill was $35. That's more than I want to pay for diner food even if it is good quality. read more

By far one of my favorite diners! sometimes there is a wait but its never that bad. Super easy and convenient to get to, right off the LIE. I've been there dozens of times over the past fews years and never had a bad experience. My personal favorite is the grilled chicken panini with the balsamic glaze, only issue I have it that I sub out peppers for spinach and they charge me up to $3 which i think is a lot for a sandwich topping. Fairly expensive for a diner. Around $13 for a burger, $20 for an open faced sandwich and $16 for a chicken gyro with a salad. Burger was fine, chicken gyro would have been very good but the gyro meat was very dry. Greek salad that came with it was good. Even though the food was decent I doubt I would go back because of the prices. I find other diners in the area to be just as good as far as food and less expensive. Lunch for two with tax and tip $47 for a cheeseburger and a gyro with soft drinks is way too much. read more

We just had a feast at Premier Diner. We shopped at Tanger Outlets down the road and a friend suggested going to the diner. What an awesome suggestion! The stuffed grape leaves were delicious. YUM!! We decided to come here late on a Saturday morning/early afternoon for a late breakfast! We have been to this diner before since we do live kinda-close and when we want a HUGE- fill to capacity belly meal, we come here. Today, I was craving French Toast with Bacon and hubs had a a huge breakfast called the He-Man with eggs, pancakes and like every meat imaginable. I will start with coffee, being as how I drink gallons of coffee a day, this was some good stuff! And when my cup was low, ahh... refill! Now I ordered the French Toast since I was like AH... waffle again, and figured hey, I know their food is great here and well I was NOT disappointed!! The bread was HUGE and not soggy at all with egg and it was light and fluffy and just delicious! As for the bacon, I don't know... I really wish that when I ordered bacon that I wouldn't get the crap that they cooked earlier and just have off to the side to heat up... Damn it - COOK BACON! It's a diner, fresh hot bacon is a MUST-HAVE for BREAKFAST!! It's not like it's 7pm and I'm asking for a bacon cheeseburger, that might be when already done bacon is acceptable!! One other side note, put the heat on in the vestibule! The hostess is standing out there in her winter coat taking names and you can't crank the heat so we can be warm while waiting... So food - 4 stars... Fix the bacon, maybe get some real syrup and turn the heat on in the vestibule!! (and not in the restaurant, since it was oven-like in there!!) and maybe you will just get 5 stars and the best diner award in my book... read more

I've visited this place at least 6 times in the past 3 weeks because I was trapped at the hampton inn next door. avoid the triple decker sandwiches, they use sub-par meat and will charge you 5x the price of a boars head sandwich. My hubby and I recently ate here ..the place was hopping..had to wait a bit. Once seated..we felt a bit rushed..the servers placed pickles and such ,before us and inquired as to what we wanted to order..we hadn't had time to read their extensive menu. For a diner I found it quite pricey, but then again, they featured"Branzino"(honestly I found it odd) as well as the typical "Diner Fanfare". We placed our orders, which took a while to arrive..I'm always perplexed when you order a salad and it seems to take the longest .my hubby ordered a " Gyro".. What a disappointment ! There were perhaps 3 pieces of meat..the rest shredded lettuce and it didn't taste very good..my salad was huge..more than I could consume in one seating..but that also was mostly lettuce..not worth the hefty price tag. I made a point to comment to the manager..about the "gyro" and he responded ..it wasn't worth it to have the rotating meat , (that most gyro places have to cut meat and place in a pita pocket with all the fanfare.,).. Won't be back..perhaps having so much on the menu ..takes away from making good memorable meals, and at those prices..you can't help but feel slighted. We live locally and love to visit diners, but after last night we won't be going back. First, prices are crazy! Dinners are about 30$... at a diner?! Well, it does include salad and dessert, but portions are small and much too expensive. Second, waitresses are angry. Not one looks like they want to be there. We overheard waitresses complaining about patrons multiple times. Also, we overheard waitresses deciding between themselves and management whether or not to charge patrons for items. They should have a well established policy, not opinions based on the customer. Third, multiple people were sending back their meals. Even ours were prepared wrong (stated sliced steak and we were served deli roast beef)- but we didn't complain. The only reason we gave two stars is because the desserts are beautiful. Stop here on your way home from the outlet mall down the road; the menu is extensive, the waitress calls everyone "sweetie", the bathrooms are clean, and the dessert case is brightly lit (of note: several items were imported from Titan Foods bakery in Astoria). I will agree with many the location is convenient and the portions are large. However, do not waste your money. This is a diner and it is priced like a high end restaurant. I should have read the fine print, but when the waitress asked if I wanted fries with me sandwich, I assumed they were included. I never would have spent an extra $3.95 for soggy cold fries. I ordered a Philly cheese steak, which ultimately cost $17.90. Obviously, they do not know what a Philly cheese steak is, it came on a hard roll with poppy seeds. My daughters burger which also cost $17.90 with fries, resembled something you would get from a fast food restaurant and my mom's omelet was mediocre at best.
