I am submitting this complaint on behalf of my 87-year-old grandmother…read more On October 21, 2025, my grandmother contracted with Deck Man LLC to repair, restain, and weather-seal her existing deck. The deck had some relatively minor issues at the time, including a few loose boards and screws that were coming up. The primary purpose of the work was to address those issues and refresh and properly seal the existing stain. My grandmother paid a $1,300.00 deposit by check. Ultimately, she paid approximately $5,595.00 for the work, which was more than the amount she was initially quoted. Unfortunately, within only a few months of the work being completed, the condition of the deck had deteriorated significantly. The paint/stain began peeling extensively, and it did not appear that the deck had been properly sealed. In fact, when someone walked across the deck, the coating would transfer onto the bottoms of their shoes. The deck looked extremely poor despite the substantial amount my grandmother had paid to have it repaired, restained, and weather-sealed. My grandmother attempted to contact Deck Man LLC herself by telephone and text message. Because of her age and limited familiarity with technology, she inadvertently sent some text messages to landline numbers and was not able to effectively communicate with the company through those messages. She also did not receive meaningful responses to her attempts to obtain assistance. When I visited my grandmother at the beginning of July, I personally took over trying to resolve the matter. I made extensive efforts to contact representatives of Deck Man LLC and spoke with Andrea Alcantara and Marcello on multiple occasions. We were repeatedly told that the problem would be taken care of. Unfortunately, weeks went by with repeated delays, excuses, and missed appointments. On more than one occasion, representatives were supposed to come to my grandmother's home but did not show up and did not provide adequate notice. When we attempted to follow up, our communications were either unanswered or we were told that weather was preventing the work from being completed. Eventually, someone was sent to my grandmother's property to power wash the deck in preparation for having it restained and resealed. The power-washing process occurred in July. Even the individual who performed the power washing commented that the deck had been done poorly. At that point, we believed the company was finally going to correct the defective work. In addition to the peeling and improperly finished surface, screws that had been addressed during the original repair were already sticking up again after only a few months. This is particularly concerning because my grandmother is 87 years old and the protruding screws present a potential trip or injury hazard. After the power washing in July, however, the company again stopped communicating with us. We heard nothing further regarding completion of the promised restaining, sealing, and repairs. The company eventually scheduled someone to come to my grandmother's home on September 14 between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Once again, no one showed up and we received no call or other meaningful notice that the appointment would not be honored. I have retained email correspondence and other documentation supporting the history of communications, scheduled appointments, promises to correct the work, and the company's repeated failure to follow through. At this point, my grandmother has paid thousands of dollars for work that did not remain in acceptable condition and for which promised corrective work has still not been completed. She has made numerous good-faith attempts to give Deck Man LLC the opportunity to correct the problem, but the company has repeatedly failed to do so. We have had enough of the runaround.

He took over an hour to measure everything and sent me the lumber quote he received so that I was fully informed, then we talked labor. He would point out problematic areas (like rotting framing) and would ask me if I wanted to have it replaced rather than just covering it up with the new surface. He did an amazing job that had my mom's tenants and the neighbors complementing the work and I felt the price was very reasonable. Based on that job, I brought him out to take a look at my townhouse to possibly replace the siding and he suggested sanding, priming and painting instead due to the price of replacement. They sanded almost every square inch of it, primed it (in some areas twice) with a peeling paint primer that is like glue to fill in gaps and keep the rest of the old paint from peeling, and then put a double coat over everything. When they finished, I was surprised to find that they had power washed our patio, porch, and front half-height fence and even painted the fence though we never talked about doing any of that work. Waited nearly two weeks for the quote and get a call they don't "replace" and confirmed they said they only do new construction per the "manager". Missed HOA deadline for May due to waiting on this final quote to make my decision to submit the application. Frustrating. They clearly didn't want the job or update your website to remove "deck replacement".
