    Cedar Walling

Our long-awaited enclosed porch with Northern Deck Works is finally finished. We're so over the moon with the results. Tim O'Neil is a wonderful owner and an amazing designer for the project. He's always responded very quickly and answered all of our questions very promptly. He kept us informed along every step of the way. We love the gorgeous mahogany deck and the cedar walling. Great lumber quality, tons of trimmings, and top craftmanship from his crew. John, Jason and Darwin are the best that we've ever run across. They care and paid attention to every little detail to make things perfect. They are very professional, expert at their craft, friendly and punctual. We truly believe we got a great value for our money and definitely recommend them to anyone.

Tim made a top-shelf plan for our new screened porch and deck. The materials were high quality and the craftsmanship was over the top. John, Darwin and Jason were the most skilled carpenters that I've ever seen. We couldn't be more pleased!

Our new screen porch and deck, built by Northern Deckworks is absolutely beautiful and we are very happy with the results. I first started researching companies to build this for us in the summer of 2020, and once I found Northern Deckworks and saw their work it was hard to even entertain selecting another company. We did meet with a few but Tim's price was competitive and the final product looked superior to anything else we saw. Tim came out to the house when he said he would, drew up the plans on site, and made promptly made changes when requested to accommodate our wishes. We did end up having to wait fifteen months for the project to begin due to material shortages and crew availability due to COVID, but this was not a problem for us since we wanted our new addition to be right and not rushed. Tim was in regular communication with us, responded promptly, and came to check on the progress in person numerous times. John was the lead carpenter and Jason and Darwin were also on the crew. They were talented, meticulous and did a beautiful job. I am so impressed with their craftsmanship and incredible attention to detail. The porch design is stunning. They cleaned up nicely at the end of each day as well. They were always clear in advance if they would miss a day or two, having to return to a previous job needing to be wrapped up that was awaiting a backordered item due to supply chain issues. We've had frustrations with contractors in the past for not showing up and this was never the case. We are looking forward to enjoying our time on our new porch and deck for many years to come. I would recommend Tim O'Neil and Northern Deckworks to anyone looking to build an outdoor addition onto their home.

We had a small porch with windows built by Northern Deckworks. It is well crafted and the cedar smells lovely.

AMAZING! If I could give Whitmer Decks six (or more) stars, I wouldn't hesitate…read more Cliff Whitmer and his entire crew--Sam, Mike, Pavlo, Wade, and Keen--truly knocked it out of the park from start to finish. From our very first meeting with Cliff (the company owner!) to the final walk-through with Sam, the project manager, the experience was exceptional every step of the way. The communication throughout the entire process was outstanding. Not once did we feel anything less than a top priority. Texts were answered within an hour, and emails were always returned within hours. That level of responsiveness gave us complete confidence and peace of mind. Mike, Pavlo, and Wade were the primary builders, and they were phenomenal. They treated us like rock stars during the entire three-and-a-half-week build. Mike, the lead carpenter, took the time to explain every phase of the project in detail, which my wife and I truly appreciated. Whitmer Decks removed our old deck and built a beautiful new 14x12 screened porch, along with a 10x10 deck and staircase. I'm no professional photographer, but the results speak for themselves--we are absolutely thrilled. We can't wait for warmer weather so we can fully enjoy our stunning new space. The craftsmanship is simply incredible. These guys are true artists. Every time we look at the work Whitmer Decks completed, we're blown away all over again. Thank you to Cliff, Sam, Mike, Pavlo, Wade, Keen--and Spark Roofing as well. You are all amazing, and we will not hesitate to give our highest recommendation to anyone who asks. I want to mention that their estimate/upgrade process was incredibly easy and actually fun to work with! Each upgrade came with about 5-10 photos that were VERY helpful in envisioning what the final product would actually look like! With gratitude, Shawn Purcell

Spent an hour at my house discussing and taking measurements. Waited nearly two weeks for the quote and get a call they don't "replace" and confirmed they said they only do new construction per the "manager". Missed HOA deadline for May due to waiting on this final quote to make my decision to submit the application. Frustrating. They clearly didn't want the job or update your website to remove "deck replacement".

He took over an hour to measure everything and sent me the lumber quote he received so that I was fully informed, then we talked labor. He would point out problematic areas (like rotting framing) and would ask me if I wanted to have it replaced rather than just covering it up with the new surface. He did an amazing job that had my mom's tenants and the neighbors complementing the work and I felt the price was very reasonable. Based on that job, I brought him out to take a look at my townhouse to possibly replace the siding and he suggested sanding, priming and painting instead due to the price of replacement. They sanded almost every square inch of it, primed it (in some areas twice) with a peeling paint primer that is like glue to fill in gaps and keep the rest of the old paint from peeling, and then put a double coat over everything. When they finished, I was surprised to find that they had power washed our patio, porch, and front half-height fence and even painted the fence though we never talked about doing any of that work. I felt compelled to pay him extra. Deck Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wELQYf0YGKY

My sump pump was burst and needed to be replaced. Got a very reasonable quote from Will for replacing the pump with a top rated zoeller pump. On the day of the installation Tom showed up at 7:45am (15 mins early) and started work. He immediately noticed that there was no check valve on the pipe exiting the sump-pump. He told me that the by building code it needs to be there and that he can install it if needed. He also gave me the option to not install it if I didn't want to but warned me that it wouldn't pass inspection. I originally thought it was an attempt to upsell so I told him to hold off. I quickly did some online research and it looked like it was indeed needed. Meanwhile Tom consulted with Will and let me know how much it would cost me. Since I had just done the research I knew the price was well below what I found online so I told him to go ahead. He did not have the part on him so he had to go to Home Depot to get it. In the meantime Will showed up and they both started working together on the job. After the installation, while they were testing proper functioning of the pump, we noticed that the water was being pumped out extremely slowly. Will quickly realized that there had to be some blockage at the final outlet. The pipe actually ran outside, under my patio to the side of the house. Luckily I remembered the general area where it drained. Will got down and dirt and started digging up the mud to get to the pipe. After finding it he had to yank out a whole lot of muck from inside it until the water was free flowing and the sump pump was pushing out the water at full speed. At this point what was suppose to be a 2 hour job had become a 4 hour job but Will did not charge me anything more than what was agreed upon. I was so happy with their work that I had another job in the house that I had been procrastinating on and I asked Will if he would be interested in taking care of it for me. It was replacing my broken kitchen faucet with the new one that I had got from Costco. He was more than happy to do it. The price he quoted was yet again reasonable. He got Tom to knock it off while he finished up with the pump installation. I was extremely happy with Will and Tom's work. Extremely professional, honest to the core, very reasonable, totally friendly and not to mention quite funny! Will had me in splits quite a few times with his perfectly timed quips as well as banter with Tom. Very highly recommended!

In an attempt to have my house perfect for my parents visit last year we had Will out for a VERY loooong-list of jobs ( power washing/ sealing/ deck and fence repair, toilette repair etc etc etc) I noticed after he left he was kind enough to throw in a pressure wash of our front walkway so that it looked nice and new for my parents visit! Then, earlier this week, we had a horrible plumbing fiasco at our home. Without going into graphic detail, let's just say it was a really crappy situation that required IMMEDIATE attention. Will at House Call Contracting was able to rearrange his schedule to be at our house within two hours, and he coordinated and oversaw the effort to fix the problem over the following three days. In addition to being able to fix anything, Will is responsible, courteous and shows up ON TIME!!! I really can't imagine ever using another plumber/contractor.
