The driveway looks excellent but the communication could have been better regarding final expectations. Your lawn will be destroyed and any money saved on asphalt will be spent on a landscaper. Know before going in that you'll have a mess to clean up. Before signing the contract I asked if debris would be removed. He said he would take care of it, so I signed. I was left with a major mess. When contacted he was responsive and said the debris had to stay there for stability. Lucky my neighbor likes me else she'd report me to the county. Five star driveway. But they left me a burden I'm still dealing with. I have spent a lot on topsoil, seed and a cultivator.

Beautiful community with a crooked pillar that cost me $6,250... UGH ** DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY **

NOVA Paving Industries is not only in breach of its contract but has the worst quality of workmanship that we have ever experienced. I will provide pictures, a copy of the contract, and emails showing the work requested and the inept responses I received from Joel Jones, the owner of the company. While his workers (Mark & Mark) attempted to complete the necessary work, they just were not skilled to do this work. I communicated constantly with Joel Jones, verbally and via email, only to be disappointed time after time. We would have fired this company early on, however, we were required to pay 50% of the contract amount of $12,500 upfront. He could not meet during the week, I offered to come in on a Saturday to meet and he could not commit to a time. Then I allowed him to send me a proposal and he did not add a fence replacement. He added the fence but did not complete the work. Then, he was supposed to replace both brick pillars and he fixed one (not replaced). I also was informed that he used A-1 sidewalk bricks instead of the bricks required to make pillars. Upon partial completion, we started receiving complaint emails that the pillar NOVA Paving Industries installed was crooked. A third-party contractor then came out and provided feedback on the project that the entire project (attached) needed to be removed and started over. Upon communicating the results (full disclosure) of the third-party report, Joel stated that he would not come back to the community to fix the pillar (see attached emails). We then hired Exterior Medics to remove everything and rebuild the area. It cost us an additional $400 for the contract and $5,000 for the fence that was included within the scope of work in the contract but never installed by NOVA Paving Industries. I think you can understand our frustration. ****************************************** We did not fire anyone and here are the emails to prove this. Mark... you did not think I would post this without someone from legal reviewing this do you? ******************************************** Emails: Good afternoon, Joel Since you did not respond to my October 31st email, I located a new contractor to assess and provide me with an estimate to repair the pillars. He expressed concerns and will provide me with a report indicating that you used A-1 bricks (sidewalk bricks) which is not proper for this type of work. He then took several pictures showing the inside of the pillar indicating that the base work inside the pillar at the bottom was never addressed properly which is very concerning. These pillars appear to be unsafe. He expressed the need to redo all of your work. He is sending me a professional report and all of the pictures we have taken. I provided you with plenty of time to rectify the situation and you outright indicated: "I believe our time working together has past." This is a clear breach of the contract. Steve ****************** Joel Your email is not the response I had expected. You have a contract to complete the work within Cameron Station. This is about a contract, sir. I have all of my communications indicating the issues from the beginning. I have been straightforward through the entire process. The work completed to date is of poor quality and workmanship and you have received all of the pictures indicating this. If you choose not to complete the work, I paid you for, I will find someone to complete the work and this could potentially become legal. You are welcome to refund me the $6,250 that I paid you and I will move on. Again, I am requesting you to replace the crooked pillar which is poor workmanship. When will you complete this work? Thank you, Steve ******************** From: Joel Sent: Friday, October 28, 2022 To: Steve Subject: Re: Main Monument Entrance Fence There's only 1 person I bow down to His name is Jesus Christ. If you don't know Him I encourage that you find out who He is. I only listen to the commands of My Father in Heaven. Not going to listen to your orders. I believe our time working together has past. I don't appreciate the way that I have been treated from the get go. There's 0 trust whatsoever. You do not trust me and I see that. You hired me because I was cheaper then everybody else. That's fine. There's $6250 that you do not owe me take that and find some one else who can do the project on your time. I don't condemn you or judge you that is not my Job that's Gods. Take it easy ******************** On Mon, Oct 24, 2022 Joel: First of all, get the pillar fixed immediately. I continue to receive emails/complaints from residents indicating the poor workmanship in the crooked pillar. You then shop for that "fence piece" on your own. I gave you a proposal as a base and you have provided nothing. I have plantings occurring next week and if you really want me to become negative... please install the pillar correctly immediately. Thank you, Steve

How they left my front steps and walkway after they decided the pavers needed to be removed because they were unsafe.

Unfortunately I was left with no option but to take them to court and file a complaint with the License Board (DPOR). Fortunately I won a judgement in Prince William General District Court for a full refund and the Virginia DPOR issued a violation with a fine and remedial education requirement. I started wanting to resurface my concrete front steps and walkway. Mark Jones convinced me that pavers were a better option. Days after the install by Joel Jones and team, the pavers came loose. After 3 attempts over 4 months they were unable to stop the pavers from coming loose. They decided the pavers needed to be removed because they were unsafe. They have refused to provide a refund. Attached photos are of loose pavers and how they left my front steps and walkway after they decided the pavers needed to be removed because they were unsafe.

We could not be more happy with our end result. We needed to extend our driveway as well as resurface it. Nova Paving Industries was not only professional, prompt but their work was beyond satisfactory.. We highly recommend them and will definitely use them for future projects!!

The new deck is beautiful: Trex Transcends composite decking in Tiki Torch with a black railing and Tiki Torch cocktail rail, matching 52" wide steps with lights as required by code, and sturdy wood frame below the deck. Many neighbors have admired the deck and even expressed jealousy. I would recommend Pro Deck Installers to anyone.

I usually do the design for all house projects, but Pro Deck (Gerry) came up with a super elegant design for me and he also actually came up with the best design out of all, while three of the other contractors either ignored or forgot my requirements and gave a single quote or partial quotes for 3-4 options discussed. Gerry is meticulous with the quote he provided, and the details were relevant in comparison to the others I received. ProDeck Installers will work with you to address your HOA headaches and shenanigans, which I had with offset measurements and approvals, etc and will do the work for the county permit. One of the other contractors that gave the lowest quote said to me "you don't need a permit" - beware! Pro Deck Installers' price is very competitive, but for the quality of the materials I was getting, it was really the best deal. As for the work getting done, again quality and timeliness was top notch. Tony and their guys are very efficient, professional and they care about the work they do. For so long I put off getting a new deck because of all the hassle that comes with it, but the experience I had with them really exceeded my expectations. The ProDeck Installers team is just truly genuine and honest in how they do business and I'm grateful for them.

It was something we wanted to do for a long time, and we finally felt ready. Since a deck is part of the structure of a home, I wanted to make sure we got a vendor who was licensed, insured and experienced. I got a couple of estimates, and a neighbor had recommended the people they had used and said that they were able to get a permit quickly. Because I wanted to get my deck done before the summer, I decided to request a quote. Dan from Valer Builders met with at my home and did some measuring and talked a good talk. It ia amazing how people behave when they are trying to get your business. The estimate I was provided with was about 6k over what my other vendors had provided but Dan persisted and when I told him what I had been quoted, he asked for proof and tried to match it. I was a little hesitant as to how much he kept trying to get my business and how quickly he dropped his prices but, in the end, I thought that I would be dealing with a professional company, one that would provide great quality work, quality materials and great customer service. I was WRONG! After coming to an agreement, signing the contract and putting down the deposit and getting the permit, a date was set to start the work. On the first day, Dan showed up and then a crew showed up and he introduced me to his "Project Manager". The crew started the work and for the most part they were doing a great job until they started installing the pickets. I noticed that there was a huuuuuuge difference on the wood, it was NOT new material as promised. I reached out to Dan and sent pictures of which he also agreed that the wood was not grade A. I was not happy because his crew previously tried to claim the extra material that I was paying for and then installed old wooden pickets. I first mentioned it to his "Project Manager" who was actually his subcontractor. The subcontractor at first denied to have installed old wood but I have eyes and it was very clear that I was not being provided with new wood and when I texted Dan the pictures, he agreed with me and asked his "Project Manager" to change them out. One of the laborers even mentioned that he told the "PM" that they shouldn't use that wood but that he was told to just do it. I was not happy and finally Dan came to see it himself and said that he had ordered 20 new pickets to be replaced and felt the need to show the invoice of the extra expense he will have to pay. He acted like he was doing me a favor and even told me to call his vendors. Why would a customer need to do that? Your job is to provide good quality materials. When I asked him if he had inspected the materials, he seemed to get offended by the question and started being rude and disrespectful. I had to remind him that I was the customer, and it got to the point that I had to kick him off my property due to his tone of voice. At this point I just wanted to get the work done and not deal with him again. His "Project Manager" listened to the whole conversation and knew I was upset and offered to change all the pickets. I didn't want to take out my disappointment with the subcontractor, so I simply asked him to replace the real bad ones which I have pictures off. The last step of the project was to fix the flooring which I had just installed a few years back. The quality of work was very poor, and my floor does not look good. His masonry subcontractor tried twice and said with time that the material he used would set and it would look good. Two months later, my patio floor is not up to standard. At the beginning of June, the electricity in my house went out and I called the electricians who installed my new electrical box a few months ago. They confirmed that it wasn't the box and called Dominion Power for me and had then come to my property. It was determined by Dominion Power that the vendor that installed the deck placed a post in an area that caused the electrical line to break. Dominion power asked if I knew if the vendor who installed the deck called Miss Utility before they did the work. I hope they have proof that they did. Dominion Power determined that the damage was caused by the deck installation, and they said they will charge the vendor but that Dominion Power doesn't fix the flooring. I had no choice but reach out to Dan and informed him of the situation and that I needed someone to fix the floor that Dominion Power open up around one of the deck's post and to please fix the flooring throughout since the work his team did looks bad. Shared pictures with Dan and he declined to make things right, so he leaves me no choice but to take necessary action. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Valer.
